MistressOfTime: Alright, so you guys only get one today, but it's pretty long so I think you'll be alright. Enjoy.
Pre T.A.A.H
Yunseong had been startled when he heard the floorboards in his room creak.
That day had been long and hard. He had spent half of it running away from Seong Mina, a quarter of it tracking down Siegfried, Link, and Maxi, who he had heard were somewhere nearby, and the remaining portion of it finding a suitable inn the four of them could stay in. He was tired beyond belief, and he had been ready to remain a sleeping mass for the next two weeks once his head the pillow.
So he wondered why, at approximately a quarter after midnight, he was suddenly up and awake and looking around as though an enemy was two feet from his face. To make matters worse, there was no one there.
It irritated the redhead. He wanted to sleep, and he wanted to sleep peacefully. That was why he had requested Link as his roommate for the night. Link was the only one who could sleep through the night without bothering the person sharing the room with him. Maxi grinded his teeth, and Siegfried had a tendency to talk as he slept. Yunseong needed bed rest. Not to hear the overly amplified sound of molars being torn down to the gums, or unintelligent ramblings of a dreaming mind. With Link as a roommate, he would have the rest he rightfully desired. He was certain of that.
Or so he thought. Now, though, he wasn't so sure. Link seemed to have risen out of bed, for no apparent reason, and was walking around mindlessly without even bothering to remain quiet. That was quite unlike him.
"Hey Link. I don't know if you were aware of this, but I wanted to get some sleep sometime tonight."
Link did not answer. Instead he continued to walk around the room, bumping into things randomly and nearly tripping on items scattered across the floor without a care in the world.
It struck Yunseong as odd. "Link? Hey buddy, are you looking for something?"
Link did turn to look at him just then. His eyes seemed oddly empty and dazed as he fixed them on the redhead sitting up in his bed. After about a minute, Link stood up straight, nodded, and then made his way to the door. He took a few minutes to actually find the doorknob and then another few moments to finally pull open the door and walk out. He had yet to say a word to his roommate.
Yunseong could only blink as he watched the Hylian leave the room. That look in his friend's normally vibrant blue eyes was kind of eerie. It was like the elf was not even present in his own body. Like he was possessed or something. "Oh man,"
He quickly jumped out of bed and followed the Hylian down the hallway and around the inn. Link seemed to be on a mission of some kind, but he refused to let Yunseong in on what it was. No matter how many times the Korean asked, the boy would not answer. Instead he just continued to wander, bump into various objects around him, and occasionally mumble things in a language Yunseong was unfamiliar with. It scared him.
"Link, please tell me you're joking?"
Link paused in his search of …something…near the front desk of the lobby. When blue eyes caught sight of his worried companion, Link smiled and shook his head. He then said something in the odd language, and went back to his mysterious search.
By this point Yunseong found that he was quite terrified. Link was possessed. That was the only logical explanation that could describe his behavior. Now, the question was how did Yunseong go about fixing the situation? Find a priest? Try an exorcism? Make his way around the inn and try to find the one controlling the blonde hero? Just what was the right path to take for all parties involved?
Not two minutes later he was at Siegfried's bedside, shaking the knight with every ounce of strength he possessed.
Siegfried, when he finally gained a semblance of consciousness, took Yunseong's arm and bent it backwards. "Do you have a death wish?"
Yunseong tried to speak through the pain. "Sorry, did I wake you?"
Siegfried grumbled and tossed the redhead to the ground. He proceeded to turn around and attempt to go back to sleep. "Good night, Yunseong."
"No! No good night!" He pleaded from the floor. "You need to get up!"
"Why?"
"Something's wrong with Link."
The knight practically jumped out of bed, now wide awake and ready to run at a moment's notice. "What happened? Is he okay? Where is he?"
Yunseong stood from the floor and quickly dusted himself off. "I think he's been cursed by a devil."
Siegfried raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"I think someone may have cursed him and possessed his body."
The room was silent. A second later Yunseong felt a very heavy pillow connect with the back of his head.
"You had to come in here for that?" Maxi grumbled from his bed. "We just had to get up so we could hear about some crazy dream?"
Yunseong huffed. "It is not a dream. Link's walking around in some kind of daze, mumbling in some demonic language, and just acting like some kind of zombie! It's freaky!"
Siegfried let the words process in his mind for a minute. After a short while understanding filtered in, and the knight sighed tiredly. "Where is he?"
Yunseong led Siegfried to the lobby. Link was still near the front desk, looking for something on the counter that he just could not seem to locate. Yunseong turned to Siegfried when the blonde began speaking in the strange language, again.
"You see? Maybe you guys ticked off a witch doctor or something when you came into town."
"He's not cursed."
The redhead blinked. "Come again?"
"He's not cursed. He's sleepwalking."
"Sleepwalking?" Yunseong looked back to Link. "You mean he's asleep?"
"Yup. This happens every once in a while after he's had a long day. He's not conscious of what he's doing, and he likely won't remember it in the morning."
"So we wake him up then?" He cupped a hand around his mouth and was about to yell something to the boy, when Siegfried harshly slapped a hand effectively over the entirety of his face.
"Don't." The knight said firmly.
Yunseong slapped the hand away. "Why not? You said he's asleep. We should wake him up so he can stop acting so creepy."
"Didn't you hear what I just said? He's not aware of where he is. Right now he probably thinks he's on a mission back in Hyrule."
"So why's he looking for, well, nothing?"
"He must think he's exploring one of the dungeons there."
"And that language?"
"Hylian. Like I said, he probably thinks he's back home. If you try to wake him up, he might think you're an enemy and attack you. That, or try to run away and end up hurting himself."
"So what do we do?"
Siegfried pushed the redhead aside and stepped forward. "Link?" The knight called out softly. "Hey Link, it's Siegfried."
Link paused in his search yet again. This time he seemed to recognize the voice calling out to him, and quickly caught sight of the slightly disheveled looking blonde that was Siegfried Schtauffen. Link smiled and jogged over to him, somehow managing to not bump into anything on his way over.
He said something in Hylian when he reached the German, and Siegfried responded with a smile and a pat on the head. "You did well. We're going to go back to sleep now, okay?"
Link nodded happily, and held out his hand for the other to grab onto. Siegfried took the smaller hand within his own and began leading the elf back to the room he shared with Maxi, Yunseong not too far behind. The pirate looked up in time to see Siegfried tuck the boy into bed, on the side right up against the wall, and climb in after him. Link quickly cuddled up to the knight, wrapped his arms around the man, and fell back asleep. Siegfried yawned before responding in kind.
Yunseong simply stood in the middle of the room. "That's it?"
Siegfried waved him off. "That's it. You can go now."
Maxi tucked himself back into bed. "Remember to close the door on your way out."
Yunseong was still perplexed. "You're going to let him sleep there?"
"Yup."
"You're not going to be uncomfortable?"
"Nope."
"Won't he freak out when he wakes up?"
"This has happened before. He'll know what happened when he sees me in the morning."
"And this doesn't bother you at all?" He felt a pillow connect with the back of his head.
"He just answered you didn't he?" Maxi said irritably. "Now go back to bed."
Yunseong simply continued to stand in the center of the room. "By myself?"
Maxi growled and Siegfried sighed. "Grab a pillow and a blanket and sleep on the floor if you want. That or drag your mattress over here so you don't have to sleep on the ground. Just make sure you put it back before one of the staff members notices it's gone."
"Whatever you decide to do, do it quick." Maxi warned. "I've barely gotten any sleep all week, and I'm fairly agitated because of it."
Yunseong bolted out of the room and came back ten minutes later with his pillow, blanket, and mattress in hand. He tossed them down in the middle of the room and said his goodnights. Before he blacked out completely, he heard Link say something softly in Hylian. Siegfried responded, just as softly, "Sweet dreams to you too, hero."
Fang: Someone you know does this?
MistressOfTime: My niece.
Fang: The five year old?
MistressOfTime: Yup. She started doing so not long after her operation last year. It happens about twice every month or so. Nothing too big.
Fang: I wonder if I do it too.
MistressOfTime: Kay guys, this is the last one you'll get for a little bit. I'll see you all tomorrow in 'To Aid A Hero.' Until then, please R&R.
