Post T.A.A.H

Siegfried could not help the breath that escaped him. He had never seen a newborn this close before. All of his cousins were either older than him or extremely close in age, so he had never gotten the chance to see a newborn in his youth. And when he got older, any relative that had a child was less than eager to let him know about it. If he was lucky, he would get to see some of them when they reached their preteen years. When he became a knight, there was never any to be found in the battles he fought in. Babies had always been something of an endangered species he as never privy to see. So the fact that one was sleeping before him, without any type of barrier surrounding her, was kind of astounding to him.

"Her name is Hope." Link told him with a smile. "Do you want to hold her?"

"Is that okay? Won't she cry?"

Link shook his head. "She's really good with other people. Barely ever makes a fuss."

"Will your aunt mind?"

"She was the one who told me to ask you. You've been standing over her bassinet for about ten minutes. She figured you wanted to pick her up but didn't want to seem impolite."

The knight blatantly ignored how hot his face grew. "Can you help? I don't want to hurt her."

Link nodded and reached into the bassinet. Hope stirred slightly from being picked up from where she slept. Little hands coming up to wipe at her face, the baby yawned before blinking tiredly at the elf holding her. She was smiled at reassuringly.

"Hold out your arms." The Hylian told the knight, rocking the baby in his arms to keep her calm.

Siegfried mimicked Link's stance and managed to keep his hold steady when the little girl was transferred into his waiting grasp. Hope looked up at him curiously. She had eyes the same shade as Link's, the knight noted. "She's so small."

Hope reached up to touch his face, her fingers lightly grazing over the scar on his eye. She smiled after a moment, cooing and gurgling her approval at the one holding her.

"She likes you." He heard Link say from beside him.

"I think I like her too."

Siegfried loved listening to Link's Ocarina. Every note, every tune, every key, was unique to anything he had ever heard before. The instrument itself was one that could be made in his world, but none that could ever hope to match the craftsmanship of Link's. It was a masterpiece in its own right. A work of art that Siegfried could not entirely understand, but could easily appreciate nonetheless, especially with the number of songs Link could play on that small blue flute.

The knight had a number of favorites, but at the top of his list was Serenade of Water. Something about it gave him peace of mind. The way it emphasized and mimicked the flowing waves of any body of water. It was also an odd little insight into the heart of the Hylian playing it for him. Every time Siegfried heard it, he seemed to catch an image in his mind's eye. The image of an old friend buried deep within something he could not escape from.

"Nice to see you again Sheik."

"Always a pleasure, hero."

Mistress: Guess who got to babysit today?

Fang: You?

Mistress: Yup! Little baby Josiah, the son of an old friend of mine. He's only a few months old, but I can tell he's going to end up somewhat like me.

Fang: Because why?

Mistress: He giggles every time he hears the noise that signifies you solved a puzzle in any Legend of Zelda game.

Fang: Oh boy. R&R people.
