A/N: I wanted to state that I do not agree with Rabastan's comments regarding Bellatrix having a child. Please don't flame me for it or leave a nasty review. I left it in as I believe that it would be how he feels about it. It's 266 words.
Rabastan remained silent as his brother ranted and raved about Bellatrix. It was as if Rodolphus hadn't known who she was when they married.
"-and do you know what she said to me?" Rodolphus asked, snarling.
"Tell me," Rabastan replied.
"She said that I wasn't the boss of her! That the only person who could tell her what to do was the Dark Lord."
Rabastan took a moment before replying. He didn't want to upset his brother by making him think that he sided with Bellatrix, but he did want to convey to Rodolphus that he shouldn't have expected anything less.
"We've always known that Bellatrix is unconventional and wouldn't conform to social expectations. Taking the Mark, and fighting for our Lord was her way of showing independence. Bellatrix wants everyone, not just you, that even though she's married that she's still the same witch."
"You're right. I guess I just hoped that she would at least consider having a child," Rodolphus sighed.
"She should have a child, but unfortunately we cannot force her too," Rabastan grumbled.
It had been the only issue he had been concerned about when he hears about their pending nuptials. Rodolphus was heir to the Lestrange line and it was his duty to carry the family name on. With Bellatrix's refusal, the responsibility now rested with him.
Why couldn't she be more like her sister? he thought.
Narcissa was the epitome of a pureblood witch; graceful, intelligent, but also obedient. She knew what her role was and played it to perfection. It was a shame that Bellatrix couldn't do the same.
