GrimmFall: Toonami Rebirth
Episode 4
After his discussion with Moltar ended TOM set about to repair the Absolution, seeing it was badly in need of repairs after its trip through the wormhole. He reactivated SARA, seeing her primary AI core had been unharmed by the trip or Control Freak which was a huge relief to TOM. SARA had then run a diagnostic and informed TOM that the ship's hyperdrive had been reduced to complete scrap, leaving them only with sub-light engines. The Absolution Mk II was larger than its predecessor, possessing multiple hangars that stored smaller vessels and possessed superior weaponry but without the hyperdrive TOM and SARA could not return to their home dimension.
"The star patterns indicate we are in the Sol System." SARA said, bringing up a star map.
"Earth, huh?" TOM mused. "What time line?"
"Early twenty first century it seems."
"Then we might have a chance to fix the hyperdrive. Earth might have the parts we need to repair the generator." TOM said, coming up with a plan.
"We're close. I can mask our approach by using the moon for cover. I wouldn't want to attract any more attention."
"Right." TOM nodded. "I can fly in with an escape pod and disguise it as a meteor. I'll scout around and see what we can use."
"There is a chance this Earth is different from the one we know, TOM. We don't know if their technology level is the same. And what if Control Freak is there?"
"It's the only chance we got, SARA." TOM stood up from his chair. "I can't say for sure I'm ready for another fight with that geek but hopefully he's long gone. Just keep close to the moon and I'll take a pod down to the planet. A fighter would be too big and I'd probably be blown out of the sky. See if you can pick up any radio signals from Earth that'll tell us if there's any difference."
"Right."
The Absolution slowly approached the Earth, altering its course to take up a position behind the moon to avoid detection.
"All right, now we just need to find the perfect place with the right amount of equipment to repair the ship." TOM mused as SARA scanned the planet's internet. "Got anything, SARA?"
"Well TOM, it seems this Earth is very different compared to the one we know of. I mean different on a scale I had not considered."
"Don't just leave me in suspense." TOM urged.
"Well, first off the Internet of this Earth is not called the 'Internet'. It's called the Sky Web."
"Sky Web, huh?"
"Yes and it seems to be much larger than the Internet. I believe this Earth has advanced several decades ahead of our own. Many channels are encrypted enough that would take me a lot of time to break through. The history, while similar is very different. I am bringing all basic files now." SARA said as a list of files appeared on the screen.

TOM whistled. "That's a lot of information."
"Yes, the history of this Earth is not only different it shows an entire population manifesting powers with almost no known form of genetic enhancement or exposure to unknown energy as far as I can tell. I need more time to sort through it all but I can tell you this much TOM, we could be in a lot of trouble here."
"No kidding." TOM mused as he read over the files. "Check out the History of the Grimm file, speaking of a meteorite falling to Earth around the time the dinosaurs were wiped out. The meteorite was blamed for the creation of the Grimm. Was it some kind of alien or something else?"
"As far as I can tell the story matches a story revolving a great evil rising up during the Feudal Era in Japan but was destroyed. There are several versions of the story but it has been labeled as a myth in modern times."
"So, we were in a reality where the myth was true?" TOM wondered.
"Possibly but I'd need more information before making a theory."
"Log all you can, we'll take a crack at the rest later. Right now we need to focus on repairing the ship. What do you suggest?"
"From the information I have scanned I believe these locations would have the best equipment." SARA highlighted several areas on Earth.
"Hmm…Mega-Tech Institute that has business holdings in Townsville, GrimmFall and Empire City. DexLabs, which is primarily based in the city called GrimmFall." TOM brought his finger over the area labelled 'GrimmFall'. "This place might be our best shot. What do you make of it?"
"The security system is advanced and tight, TOM. Especially in the basement. I can only assume they have private labs which will likely house top secret projects. The security cameras use heat imaging with motion sensors, laser grids, hand print and eye identification systems and a lockdown program if security is tripped."
TOM whistled. "They got a lot of toys."
"Yes, along with a power source unlike I have seen before. The equipment needed to maintain such power may be what we need, if we can find the schematics and parts."
TOM nodded, standing up from his chair. "All right, here's the plan. I'll land as close as I can and make my way in at night. Can something be done about the security?"
"I could try remotely accessing the security from here but it will be tricky. To gain complete access I would need access to the data center."
"That can be arranged."
