A One in a Millionth Chance
*This is a Klaine and Blellie story. Weird combination, I know, but I had an idea. It may start out as confusing, but it'll become clearer.
*I don't think that there will be POV's, but it will focus on one of the main 4 characters in each chunk of the story. I might do POV's when something important happens though.
*So, every chapter is going to be titled. The title is going to be based off of a lyric of a song, or song title, that I think fits the chapter.
*This chapter is titled by the song 'Halo' by Beyoncè.*
.Blake.
"Dude, you're lucky that I love you" Blake said as he stalked into Blaine's room. He sat on the bed and Blaine raised an eyebrow as he adjusted his bowtie.
"May I ask why…?" Blaine asked as he looked at himself in the mirror that hung on the back of his door. He crinkled his nose as he caught sight of a curl that didn't seem to want to be restrained by his hair gel. Blake rolled his eyes, knowing how obsessed his roommate was with his hair.
"Because I turned down a chance to potentially see Nellie again" Blake explained and then Blaine raised a triangular eyebrow again.
"Nellie from yesterday? The girl that has got you all weird, even thought you didn't actually talk to her?"
Blake glowered at the shorter man but spoke anyway "Yes, that Nellie."
"How did you turn down a chance to see her again?" Blaine questioned
"Kurt and Rachel asked me to hang out with them tonight, and Nellie would've most likely been there, you know, since she lives with them, but I had already made a commitment to coming to this performance"
Blaine turned around and looked at his best friend "Awww! Blakey! I'm so touched that you would choose me over a girl!" Blaine's hands flew to his eyes and he pretended to wipe tears away from them.
"Don't flatter yourself. There's a chance that she wouldn't even be there"
"But you still risked it to watch me play songs you've heard over and over again. Blakey, that means so much"
"Shut up!" Blake grumbled "And stop calling me Blakey!"
"Nah, you call me Blainers, so why can't I call you Blakey?"
"Fine!" Blake exclaimed with a groan "I'll stop calling you Blainers as long as you stop calling me Blakey"
"Deal" Blaine grinned in triumph. "And you shouldn't really worry about the 'potential-Nellie-hang-out' because I know for a fact that there will be plenty of pretty ladies to have thrown at you there."
"How do you know?"
"Girls love me"
"You're gay"
"I know, I tell them that, but they don't seem to understand" Blaine smirked "Some girls have even tried turning me straight"
Blake let out a laugh "That's ridiculous!" Blake then looked at his friend's choice of outfit "And I don't know how some of those girls don't know you're gay the second they see you. I mean, no offense, but a bowtie…really?"
"I'm a stylish gay man. I can wear bowties"
"Dude, I work for a 'stylish gay man' and he dressed nothing like you"
"That's not fair! He works at a fashion magazine!"
"Because he knows style"
"And I'm the gay one in this room" Blaine said sarcastically
"Shut it or I'll text Kurt and tell him that my plan changed"
/
"Told you that a lot of girls showed up"
"It's a bar. Many girls usually show up" Blake retorted and Blaine stuck out his tongue.
"Not this many! Most of them came for me!" Blaine smirked
"Even though you're gay"
"Yes, even though I'm gay. That's how attractive I am"
"Dude, way to stick to modesty"
Blaine opened his mouth to retort, but he saw someone from across the room and then turned back to Blake. "I've got to go, I see my backup singer" Blaine pointed to the other side of the room and Blake's eyes followed his finger and saw a girl with short black hair. Wait a minute. That looked familiar. And he understood the moment the girl turned around slightly so Blake could see her profile view.
Nellie.
His head snapped to Blaine who was watching him with a smirk "She's your backup singer?"
"Yep" And then he took in Blaine's reaction. He didn't seem shocked at all that Blake knew who this was.
"You knew" Blake said simply with an accusing gaze.
"Knew what?" Blaine asked with a smug smile
"That your backup singer was the girl I met yesterday!"
"I knew no such thing!" Blaine pretended to be shocked
"Shut up, man!" Blake slapped his arm "How could you not tell me?"
"I thought it'd be more of a surprise if I brought you to one of our gigs"
"I hate you" Blake mumbled
"Fine, then I won't introduce you to Nellie" Blaine started to walk off with a smug smirk.
"No!" Blake said loudly and grasped Blaine's arm and tugged him back "You have to introduce me" Blaine simply smiled evilly and pulled his arm away from Blake.
"Maybe…if you're good" Blake watched him as he walked away.
Seriously?
But then Blake's anger seemed to fade away as he caught a better look at Nellie.
God, she sure was beautiful…
.Kurt.
"Man, this place is packed!" Rachel squealed as someone almost spilled beer down the front of her.
"Not shit Sherlock" Kurt retorted and Rachel sent him a glare.
"So, Nell, are you going to introduce us to Blaine Anderson?" Rachel shot Kurt an evil look and he sighed in defeat, knowing that he should probably be nicer to her if she wasn't going to humiliate him in front of Blaine.
Nellie was looking around the filled bar, searching for Blaine. She heard her name, so she turned back to her two friends. "Sorry, what'd you say?"
"I asked you if you were going to introduce us to Blaine"
"Oh, um, yeah, probably. But, it'll probably be after the show. That okay?"
"That's fine" Kurt said breathlessly and Rachel giggled.
Rachel nudged her friend "I don't think I'll have to humiliate you at all, you can do that all by yourself" Kurt sent her a glare and then elbowed her in the stomach. This didn't stop her laughter; it only made her snicker even more. Nellie looked back at them and sent them a look and Rachel quickly stopped laughing, afraid that Nellie would get mad at her.
"Oh, there's Blaine" Kurt's eyes went wide and Rachel bit her lip to stop from sniggering at him. "I'm gonna go, I'll find you after the show though"
"You better! You're our ride home!" Rachel called after her. Nellie looked over her shoulder and shrugged with a smirk. Rachel laughed and then turned towards Kurt. "Well, she's the designated driver, so I'm getting myself a drink. You want anything?"
"Just get me a Diet Coke, please"
Rachel frowned at him "You're no fun"
"I have to go to work tomorrow, Rach"
"So, there's nothing wrong with getting just a little buzzed"
"Maybe later, Rachel"
Rachel moaned "Ugh, fine. But I will hurt you if you don't have at least one drink by the end of the night"
"Okay Rachel" Kurt rolled his eyes and then looked over at a table "I'm going to go sit over there and wait for Puckerman, okay?"
"Okay" Rachel skipped off and Kurt pushed through the crowd of girls to get to one of the only empty tables. He let out a breath of relief as he finally sat in the seat, which had a perfect view of the small stage in the back of the bar.
"Hummel!" He spun around and rolled his eyes when he saw none other than Noah Puckerman. Puck walked over and sat down across from Kurt.
"Hello Puckerman"
"Where's Rachel?"
"Getting drinks" As if on cue Rachel popped up in front of them.
"Hey Noah!"
"Hey, Rach" Puck replied and then pressed a kiss to her cheek. As much as Kurt hated to admit it, he thought they were actually a cute couple.
"Here's your drink Kurt!"
"Thanks Rachel" She gave him a weird smile and he looked down at his drink. He held it up to his nose and sniffed it. He then glowered at Rachel. "You spiked my drink"
"I don't know what you're talking about" Rachel smirked as she took a sip of her own drink.
Kurt rolled his eyes "Really? You have no idea?" Rachel shook her head and Kurt huffed "Fine, we'll just have to see" He raised the glass to his lips and then waited until a small amount the liquid poured into his mouth. Once the drink hit the back of his throat, he quickly placed the glass on the table and started coughing. He felt a hand start patting his back and he quickly looked up. He was incredibly shocked to see Blake standing there with a soft smile. He could make out Rachel whispering to him "I was right! I told you! What a coincidence!"
"You okay there, Kurt?" Kurt calmed down and then forced a smile
"Yep, fine, Rachel just decided to put a little alcohol in my Diet Coke" Blake chuckled "You can sit down if you want, Nellie's not sitting here"
"I know, she's the backup singer"
"How'd you know that?" Rachel questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"And what are you doing here? I thought you said you were doing something with your roommate"
"I am. I'm here supporting him"
"What?" Rachel squeaked
"My roommate's Blaine Anderson" Of course Rachel had liquid in her mouth since she had just taken a drink of her beverage, so before he knew it, alcohol was sprayed all over Blake. "Rachel!"
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry" Rachel squealed and grabbed a napkin and started to wipe off his face.
"Oww, be careful, you're getting it in my eye!"
"That's what she said" Puck piped up and Kurt looked at him and then simply rolled his eyes with disgust.
"Rachel, stop" Blake tried pulling away, but she rested her hand on his shoulder so he couldn't move. "Rachel, I can do it myself"
"Hold still! I'm helping you,"
"I can do it myself,"
"It's fine, just hold still," Rachel hissed
"Hey guys!" Blake looked up and Kurt started laughing as Nellie stood there with a confused expression. "Uh, what's going on here…?"
"No! Nellie, leave!" Rachel exclaimed and Nellie gave her a weird look, all while Kurt tried to stop himself from laughing. "You and Blake meeting needs to be more romantic!"
"Excuse me?" Blake stared at her in shock
"Rachel!" Nellie squealed in embarrassment
"What?" Rachel asked and then turned back towards Blake "Go get cleaned up! You can't formally meet Nellie until you're all cleaned up" Blake looked at Rachel as if she were crazy (which she kind of was…) and stayed in his spot.
Kurt let out another loud laugh and then Nellie looked at him "What the hell happened?"
"R-Rachel spit her drink all over him" He looked at Puck who was also laughing, and then he glanced at Rachel who simply shrugged. Blake was glaring at her as he wiped a few more drops of her martini off of him,
"He told me something interesting," She said as if nothing had happened at all.
"And that is?"
"Blaine's his roommate," Rachel responded as Blake continued to dry himself off.
"Oh, I know. Blaine just told me."
Rachel scoffed "So you knew before we did?"
Nellie gave her a confused look "I guess…"
Rachel huffed and then sent a glare Blake's way. "I can't believe you didn't tell us" She growled.
"I can't believe you're mad!"
"Well, I thought we were friends, why wouldn't you tell us?"
"You never asked" Blake retorted as he wiped at his shirt again "And if I knew you would spit all over me, I probably wouldn't have told you" Rachel pouted and slumped in her seat, knowing that Blake had one this argument.
"Hey, Nellie, it's time to go on" Kurt's eyes widened as he saw Blaine stride up to them. Dear God, he was even more attractive up close. Kurt took in a deep breath and then let it out with a forced smile. He could feel Rachel leering at him, but he decided to ignore it. Blaine's eyes then landed on Blake and he started laughing "I don't even want to know what happened"
Blake glared at him. "Shut it or I'll steal your hair gel" He snapped and Blaine smirked
"You don't know where it is, I hid it after last time"
"Yeah, well, you didn't hide it very well" Blake smirked and Blaine glared at him, but then plastered on a smile and looked at the other three.
"Sorry to be rude, I'm sure I'll meet you after our set" Blaine's eyes drifted over them and then landed on Kurt. Kurt smiled politely and tried to control the heat that was coming to his cheeks. He felt someone kick him and he instantly knew it was Rachel when he felt the heel. He shot her a glare and she simply glared.
This was going to be a long night.
.Nellie.
She smirked at Kurt and then lifted her gaze and then her brown eyes settled on Blake, who was staring at her. She stifled a giggle and then stuck out her hand. "Well since nobody's going to formally introduce us, I guess we'll have to do it" She grinned "I'm Nellie"
Blake shook her hand and she tried to ignore the little spark that shot through her body, because come on, how undeniably cliché. "Nice to meet you, I'm Blake" He smiled and it made her want to melt. Shit, that also made her sound cliché! "Sorry that this wasn't like a scene from a romantic comedy. I know how much Rachel wanted it to be" Blake shot a look at Rachel who simply glowered at him.
"Nice to meet you too and it's fine. I just blame it on the Berry Crazy" Nellie joked and then they released hands.
"The Berry what?" Rachel questioned with anger obvious in her eyes.
"You know Blaine, I think we really need to get up there before some of these girls attack you" Nellie said quickly, looking away from Rachel who was now glaring at her back.
"I think you're right" Blaine chuckled and then they walked away, but not before Nellie heard Rachel started to get mad at Kurt. It seemed an awful lot like she was blaming him for the term, which is kind of accurate. He did make it up after all.
"So, we're starting with 'Somewhere Only We Know' right?" Blaine nodded "Am I still playing guitar?"
"If you want to" Nellie nodded and then grabbed her guitar and slung it around her. Blaine smiled at her. "So, what exactly happened to Blake…?" Nellie smirked
"I wasn't there, but apparently Blake mentioned that you were his roommate and Rachel spit her drink all over him" Blaine snorted
"Okay, if I wasn't in ear of losing my hair gel, I would so make fun so him" Blaine said truthfully.
"Well, here's a solution" Nellie said and rested her arm on the neck of her guitar. "Make fun of him all you want and just buy new hair gel"
"You know, I like the way you think" Nellie smiled and then curtseyed with a giggle.
"Well, I live with two people that throw playful threats around all the time. I have to have a way out of these types of problems." Nellie explained and Blaine laughed.
"Speaking of those two people…will you introduce me?" Blaine asked as he looked down at his shoes.
"Yeah, if you want. I have to warn you, they're a little…out there"
"It's fine. I should probably warn you that Blake's pretty out there too"
Nellie laughed "And why should I be warned?"
"Because it's obvious you and Blake are attracted to each other" Blaine said simply and adjusted his shirt. When he looked back up at Nellie she was scoffing. "What?"
"Why does everyone think that?"
"Well, do you find him attractive…?" Nellie then decided to look anywhere but at him. Her cheeks had a red glow to them as she found a sudden fascination in her guitar strings. She strummed a note and pretended to tune it. "I take that as a yes because that guitar is perfectly tuned" Nellie glanced back up at him and her cheeks began to heat up even more. "Relax, I live with him. Remember how last night I had to leave to go help him. Yeah, he was all depressed because he didn't actually talk to you."
"Really?" Nellie asked with wide eyes
"Yes, but you didn't hear it from me" Blaine winked and then smiled.
"Wait, why do you want to meet them so bad?" Nellie questioned, a smirking appearing on her face.
"No reason"
Nellie snorted "That's a total lie"
"Is not"
Nellie rolled her eyes "Yes, it is." She took a step closer to him, let me guess, you find yourself…intrigued by Kurt…don't you?"
"Don't even know which one Kurt was"
"You did too. It was the one without the Mohawk"
"It's time for us to go on now" Blaine said quickly, red spreading over his own cheeks.
"Let's do this thing" Nellie smiled and they high-fived as they got up on the small stage.
/
"That was great!" Nellie squealed as she and Blaine walked off of the stage for their 30 minute break.
"We work really well together"
"Indeed we do" Nellie smiled and leaned her guitar against the wall. "Should we go out and sit by our friends?"
"I think that's a good idea. I'm sure Blake is dying to talk to you" Blaine winked and Nellie quickly turned away from him to hide her growing blush
"And I'm sure Kurt is dying to talk to you" Nellie retorted "Rumor has it; he has a little crush on you. He says it's not a crush, he just happens to think that you're attractive and talented" Nellie winked "But you didn't hear it from me" She mimicked and Blaine let out a laugh.
"Got it" Blaine responded as they made their way to the table.
"Hey!" Kurt smiled at them "You guys did great"
"Thanks" Nellie smiled "So, Blaine, this is Kurt, Rachel and…I'm assuming that's Rachel's boyfriend" Rachel nodded and then cuddled up to the boy with a Mohawk.
"Nice to meet you" Blaine smiled and Nellie noticed that his eyes stayed on Kurt for a couple seconds.
"Nellie!" Rachel shrieked and Nellie looked at her with an annoyed expression. "Come sit over here, I need to talk to you about something"
"Okay?" She walked over and sat down at the end of the table, causing her to be in between Blake and Rachel. Nellie gave Blaine a look and he rolled his eyes and then sat down on the opposite end of the table in between Kurt and Puck.
"So, tell me the truth" Oh no. "Don't you agree that Kurt should get drunk now because he made up the whole 'Crazy Berry' thing?"
"Berry Crazy" Blake corrected from Nellie's left side. She giggled as Rachel gave him a confused look "It's not 'Crazy Berry' we call it the 'Berry Crazy'"
"Oh, so you use it too?" Rachel narrowed her eyes "I want everyone at this table to raise their hand if they've said or even heard the term 'Berry Crazy' They all raised their hands. "What? Even Blaine has heard this?"
"I live with him, Rachel"
"And I think I brought it up once or twice when we were rehearsing" Nellie said.
"When did you make this up, Kurt?" Rachel turned on him and Nellie could practically see the tension between them
"Relax, it was a high school thing" Kurt said with a wave of his hand
"High school?" Rachel exclaimed angrily "This started in high school?"
"Yep, it's actually how me and Mercedes became friends. You were going on and on about your boring ideas for Glee Club and we started talking about you and I just said that I felt bad for anyone else who caught the Berry Crazy" Kurt shrugged "It kind of stuck after that"
Rachel groaned "Are you kidding me?"
"Wait, back up, you guys were in a Glee Club?" Blaine questioned
"Yep" Kurt responded with a beam "Everyone hated us, but we were actually really good"
"All of the solos I got were practice for my Broadway debut" Rachel jumped in with a smile "I've been in 9 shows now. 8 of them, I got the leads" Nellie rolled her eyes and then looked at Kurt who had his famous 'Bitch Please' look painted on his face. He caught her eye and then they smirked at each other.
Nellie let out a fake cough and Kurt did as well. "Thunder" they said in between coughs. Rachel obviously got it because she threw them both a glare.
"What?" Rachel's boyfriend asked with a raised eyebrow.
"We've decided to start doing that when Rachel swoops in and steals someone's thunder" Kurt smirked
"I hate you guys" Rachel grumbled and then her attitude changed quickly "But seriously, Nell, do you think Kurt should get drunk?"
"I have to work tomorrow Berry, and there's no way I'm drinking that" He pointed to a full glass. Nellie raised her eyebrow
"What is it?"
"Diet Coke with vodka in it" Kurt picked it up and stuck out his arm so Nellie could take it "Taste it"
"I don't like Diet Coke"
"Trust me, you won't even taste it" Kurt said dryly and Nellie gave him an uncertain look but took the glass anyway. She crinkled her nose because she could already smell the alcohol from where it was in her hand. She looked back up at Kurt, who simply nodded as if to say 'You won't die'. She took a sip and once the liquid hit her tongue she quickly put the glass down.
She placed her hand over her mouth and quickly swallowed. She started coughing and Rachel patted her back lightly, as did Blake, which honestly didn't help, it just took her longer to calm down. Once she did though, everyone was looking at her, waiting for her to say something.
"You're right. I didn't even taste it"
.Blaine.
"Looks like 30 minutes is up" Nellie commented with a sigh "Come on, Blaine"
"Actually, I'm really not feeling well. Do you think you could go on by yourself?" Nellie's eyes widened
"But I'm paid to be a back-up singer"
"I promise I'll give you extra, I just really don't think I can go up there"
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, besides, you're an amazing singer, you shouldn't just be limited to back up singing" Nellie stood up and patted his shoulder.
"If you're sure…" Nellie smiled sadly "If you feel better just come up on the stage"
"Thanks so much Nellie"
Nellie responded with a smile and then walked towards her guitar. Kurt smiled and then turned towards Blaine "You feel fine"
"Excuse me?"
"You don't feel sick, you just wanted her to get up there on her own"
"That's a lie!"
"It is not" Kurt said simply and then Blaine looked down in defeat. Kurt patted his shoulder and then spoke again "Don't worry, I think it's sweet of you"
Blaine smiled up at him and then Nellie's voice interrupted them "Hi, I'm Nellie and Blaine's feeling kind of under the weather, so he wanted me to go on without him" Blaine then looked over at Blake who couldn't take his eyes off of her. "The first song I would like to so is 'Halo', by Beyoncè" Nellie smiled and then leaned away from the mic as she started to pluck the strings on her guitar.
About halfway through the song, Blake caught Blaine's eye and Blaine gave him a look. Blake simply rolled his eyes and tried to stop the blush coming onto his cheeks.
Looks like Blake found the girl with the halo he had been looking for.
Sorry this one is kind of short, I just wanted to get it updated. Obviously not one of the best chapters, but I promise the next will be more eventful :)
