A One in a Millionth Chance

*This is a Klaine and Blellie story. Weird combination, I know, but I had an idea. It may start out as confusing, but it'll become clearer.

*I don't think that there will be POV's, but it will focus on one of the main 4 characters in each chunk of the story. I might do POV's when something important happens though.

*So, every chapter is going to be titled. The title is going to be based off of a lyric of a song, or song title, that I think fits the chapter.

*This chapter is titled by 'Tell Me Why' by Taylor Swift. The full lyric that would title this chapter if it fit would be 'You could write a book on how to ruin someone's perfect day'

.Kurt.

"I'm not gonna lie" Nellie said as they walked towards the small café where she and Blaine had a small gig "I kind of thought you two would be able to hide it better"

"Nellie!" Kurt exclaimed and Rachel laughed "It's not our fault that Rachel just barges into my room!" Kurt shot a look at the tiny brunette and she put her hands up in defense.

"Hey! The door was wide open! Don't you dare blame this on me, Lover Boy!"

"Lover Boy?" Kurt questioned with a scoff "You know, I thought you would come up with something a little more…I don't know…unique. That was just petty. I'll give you some time to think of another one!" He patted her on the head and she rolled her eyes, knowing why he said that.

"You're just stalling." Rachel said with her I'm-Right voice, causing Kurt to roll his eyes.

"Why would I be stalling?" Kurt questioned as Nellie opened to the door to the café, and they walked in through the open door, without thanking her, too involved in their heated conversation.

"Because you know I'm right" Rachel said matter-of-factly.

"Ha!" Kurt exclaimed as they loomed closer to Blaine and Blake "Like you're ever right!"

"I was right about you and Blaine getting together!" Rachel exclaimed as the three of them walked over to Blaine and Blake, who simply raised their eyebrows at the fight and asked Nellie.

"That doesn't count! Apparently that was a group opinion, so you don't get to claim that as yours!" Kurt pointed out, causing Rachel to roll her eyes, yet again.

"It's true, it was a group opinion" Nellie jumped in, which she immediately regretted as soon as the two of them rounded on her.

"STAY OUT OF THIS NELLIE!" And then went back to arguing.

"I was also right that one time in Glee Club!" Rachel said, running out of ideas.

Kurt snorted and cross his arms over his chest. "When were you ever right in there?"

"I was right about…um…singing all of the solos! I have an amazing voice!"

"I will slap you"

"You can't! I'm a girl"

"I'm pretty sure that rule doesn't count when you're gay" Neither of them notices Nellie face palming behind them as she realized that people were staring, wondering what the hell was going on.

"Guys" Nellie said as she stood in between them. "Can we wait until we get back to the apartment, then you can claw each other's faces off. We're in public" Nellie hissed and Rachel and Kurt simply glared at each other. "Let's just sit down, have a nice conversation, and drink some coffee or something before Blaine and I go on"

"Fine, I'll scratch her eyes out later" Kurt said angrily.

"If you do, I'll rip up your favorite Alexander McQueen jacket" Kurt looked offended but then he smirked

"You won't be able to, you'll have your eyes scratched out"

"Guys!" Nellie exclaimed "Just sit down! Or else I will make you leave" Kurt and Rachel didn't say anything, just simply sat down on opposite sides of the table. Kurt sitting next to Blaine and Rachel sitting in the booth beside Blake. Nellie sighed "I'm going to get everybody coffee, I'll be back" Blaine smiled at her but Rachel and Kurt were too busy glaring daggers at each other.

"Now, Kurt" Rachel said, sickly sweet "Please tell me when you have ever been right"

Kurt snorted "Our duet in junior year-"

"I never said-"

"Jesse St. James, Finn, your clothing"

"I hate you" Kurt opened his mouth to respond, but Blaine covered his mouth quickly.

"Let's all just calm down and celebrate Blake and Nellie finally getting together" Blaine smiled softly and pulled his hand away from Kurt's mouth, seeing the soft smile Kurt had upon his face.

"Wait!" Rachel exclaimed "They're together!"

"Yeah, since yesterday. Where have you been?" Kurt questioned and Rachel kicked him from under the table. He yelped in pain, which caused them stares, including two gazes coming from the line at the register, those two people being Nellie and Blake.

"Why wasn't I informed?"

"I don't know. You were staying at Puck's last night, sexing him up"

"Yeah" Rachel snorted "You feel uncomfortable talking about sex!" Kurt blushed and then glared at his best friend, kicking her in the shin, just like she had done to him.

"We are not talking about this now!"

"Why? Because you're boyfriend's here?"

"I will burn all of your Barbra Streisand things, and I mean it" Rachel opened her mouth to respond, but she just slumped in her seat and pouted instead. Blaine was about to ask about this, but Blake and Nellie returned and started handing out everybody's drinks.

"Nellie"

Nellie groaned, wondering what Rachel would say now "What?"

"When did you and Blake get together? And why wasn't I the first to be informed about this?"

Nellie blushed as she slid into the booth beside Rachel, and then Blake slid in next to her, chuckling slightly. "Rach, we're not exactly dating…we just kissed"

"That qualifies!"

"I'm so not having this argument with you" Nellie glared as she took a sip of her coffee, causing Rachel to giggle.

"Fine, let's have the argument about you holding every cup or mug like a little mouse" Nellie groaned again and Kurt let out a laugh.

"I have to agree with Rachel" This comment caused Rachel to slam her hand down on the table.

"Ha! I'm right!" Kurt simply ignored her and turned his attention back to Nellie.

"But seriously, you hold your cups like a mouse would" Nellie scoffed and took another sip of her drink, not aware of all the eyes on her.

"Oh my God! You do!" Blaine exclaimed and Nellie looked down at her hands and then back up at him.

"No, I don't! I drink like a normal person!"

"Correction!" Rachel snickered "You drink like a normal mouse"

"I hate you" Nellie grumbled and then Blake smiled at her, leaning in to whisper into her ear.

"I think it's cute" Nellie couldn't help the blush that crept up onto her face, and the smile that quickly followed. So, she took another sip of her coffee, to try and hide her flaming cheeks and bright smile.

Rachel, Kurt, and Blaine all exchanged glances. Kurt simply rolled his eyes, a smile softly playing at his lips, Blaine grinned, and Rachel smirked as she glanced to her left where the two-people-who-were-obviously-in-love-but-weren't-a-couple sat.

"Yep, you two are so not a couple" Kurt said and Rachel giggled as Blaine chuckled as he looked at his best friend.

"Shut it!" Nellie exclaimed and Kurt was about to say something witty in response, but the bell jingling, signaling that someone had entered the café. His eyes widened when he saw who it was and let out a sqeak and then ducked down. "What's up with you?"

"Shh, I'm not here!" Kurt exclaimed, going all the way under the table.

"You're being-" Rachel started, eyes wandering to the door. Her eyes widened as well and she looked under the table, where Kurt was sitting in a fetal position, trying to fit better. "Oh my God! Is that-"

"Shh!" Kurt said quickly "I think he's coming over here" Rachel looked back over and she adjusted, trying to give Kurt more room, considering he was sitting across from her, or he used to be. "Don't let him know I'm here" He said mostly to Rachel, but the rest of the group understood as well.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't little miss Gleek!" Rachel rolled her eyes and turned towards the man now standing at the end of their table.

"What are you doing in New York? This is my city"

"I have relatives here" The man shot back. "So where's Lady Hummel? Didn't he move here too?"

"Why do you care?"

"Calm down Berry, just wondering where the fag was"

"Hey!" The other 3 exclaimed, not knowing who this guy was.

"And who are you?"

"Doesn't matter!" Blake exclaimed "Leave Kurt alone"

"Why? You his boyfriend?"

"No, I am" Blaine said, glaring at the tall man. "And who the hell are you and why are you insulting my boyfriend?!"

"Don't need to tell you-"

"He's the guy that tormented Kurt all through high school just because David here had a huge crush on him. But he didn't want any of his football buddies to know!" Rachel felt a pinch on her leg, and she quickly bit her lip so a squeal didn't come out.

"What the hell?! He told you that?"

"Maybe you should just leave" Blaine said, angrily and Kurt placed a hand on his knee, showing him it was alright

"Gladly" Karofsky went to walk away but Rachel stopped him.

"Hey Karofsky!" Rachel nudged Nellie and gave her a look and Nellie nodded, both of the other guys confused at what was going on. Karofsky turned around, raising an eyebrow and Rachel grinned "I just wanted to tell your scared ass that it's okay to be gay"

"No, it's not" Karofsky scoffed

"Well, you need to learn that there's nothing wrong with being gay" Rachel grinned and then reached for Nellie's hand "I mean I'm a lesbian"

"What?!" Blaine and Blake exclaimed, looking at the brunette

"Yep. That's what I brought you here to say. I'm a lesbian and I'm dating Nellie here"

The three men looked at them in shock. But then Blake and Blaine realized that they were just trying to see what the other man would do. "You guys are freaks" Karofsky sneered and promptly walked out of the café.

"Kurt, he's gone" Rachel said and Kurt adjusted under the table so he could pull himself back up. As he did so, he couldn't help but laugh as he looked at his two best friends. "Why are you laughing?" Rachel questioned as she moved her hand off of Nellie's.

"You two still do the whole lesbian thing?"

"Wait, what?" Blake said "I'm lost"

"As am I" Blaine piped up

"Chill out Blake" Kurt smirked "They don't actually do anything. They just pretend they're lesbians to get guys off their backs at bars and clubs. They did it a lot before Nellie moved. I figured that they wouldn't now since Rachel has a boyfriend and well…Nellie…she's got you" Nellie kicked him under the table "God! What's with all of the kicking?!"

"Now, that that's settled…" Blaine trailed off "Who was that guy?"

"David Karofsky" Kurt gritted out as he clenched his hand around his coffee cup.

"Wait!" Nellie exclaimed "Is that the guy that-"

"Made my life a living hell for most of my high school years? Yes, that's him"

"What did he do to you?" Blaine questioned softly, placing a hand on his knee in comfort.

"What didn't he do?" Rachel questioned, taking a sip of her coffee. "He shoved you into lockers, he slushied you, he threw you into dumpsters-"

"He kissed me. And then threatened to kill me if I told anyone"

"What?!" The whole tale exclaimed

"He threatened to kill you?! Why didn't you tell us about that?" Rachel exclaimed.

"Because he threatened to kill me…"

"Kurt, you should've told someone about it. He could've gotten expelled! You would've been safe again!"

"No, because he would end up coming back and he would make my life even worse. And I wasn't ready to make my life any worse than it already was" Kurt sighed, placing an elbow on the table and leaning his head on his hand.

"I know how you feel-"

"Not really" Kurt said with a sad look at Rachel "You ended up becoming friends with all of your enemies"

"That's not true!"

"Really? Santana and Quinn? Most of the Cheerios?"

"Kurt-"

"I'm gonna go to the bathroom" Kurt said and slid out of the booth. "I'll be back"

Kurt tried hurrying as he felt the tears build up in his eyes. The one time he was finally happy with his life, Karofsky just had to show up in it and wreck it once again?

Why couldn't he ever get a break?

.Blaine.

"I think I'm going to go an talk to him…" Rachel said and went to get up but Nellie stopped her. Rachel gave her a questioning look and Nellie just shook her head.

"No offense, but you don't give the best pep talks" Rachel opened her mouth to respond and Nellie cut her off before she could say a word "And you kind of made him run off, so maybe it should be someone else" Rachel opened her mouth to argue, yet again, but Blaine hurriedly cut her off.

"I'll go talk to him"

"You've only known him for a couple weeks-"

"Yes, but I'm gay and I got bullied because of it, so I have a better chance of understanding"

"He's got a point Rachel" Nellie said softly and then Rachel huffed and slumped down into her seat. Blaine smiled softly at Nellie in thanks, which she returned, and then Blaine got up and headed over to the bathroom.

He was never quite happy with the fact that this café only had two bathrooms. One for the women and one for the men, but at the moment he was quite happy. He figured that Kurt would be crying and he wanted to comfort him without random men walking in to use a different stall.

He didn't see Kurt around, so he knocked on the door. "Kurt?" He called out "It's Blaine, could you let me in?"

He heard a sniff and then a sot sob "I'll be out in a minute"

"Kurt, I know you're upset, please just let me in" Blaine waited for a moment and was about to say something else when he heard shuffling feet and then the click of the lock. The door opened slightly and Blaine was met with one of Kurt's eyes poking out of the small slit in the doorway. Kurt sniffled again and wiped at his eyes as he pulled the door open wide enough for Blaine to get in.

Blaine slipped into the small room and then shut the door behind him as Kurt walked over to the counter and stared at himself in the mirror. Blaine locked the door and then walked over to Kurt, wrapped his arms around his torso, resting his head on Kurt's shoulder. Kurt drew in a shaky breath as more tears strolled down his face.

"Shh, it's okay" Blaine whispered into his ear and Kurt turned in his arms and hugged him tightly, burring his face into his shoulder. "Kurt, it's okay"

"I'm sorry" Kurt muttered in Blaine's jacket. "I shouldn't run off and lock myself in a bathroom to cry when I'm hanging out with you. It's rude"

Blaine rubbed his back and kissed his hair softly. "I'd rather you run into the bathroom and cry. I don't want you to bottle it up" Blaine said softly "I understand why you're so upset. If I would've seen one of my old bullies, I would probably sit in a bathroom and cry as well. Sure, they never threatened to kill me, but they sure did damage."

"What'd they do to you?" Kurt asked softly, kind of surprised that Blaine had gotten bullied considering that he went to Dalton.

"In my freshman year, I finally came out. I got teased and taunted, but I ignored it. Then, me and my friend, who was also out, went to a Sadie Hawkins's dance, and these guys found us and beat the crap out of us. That's when I transferred to Dalton. " Kurt pulled away and looked at him with tear filled eyes, not for what just happened, but for what had happened to Blaine.

"Blaine, I had no idea-"

"It's alright, Kurt. We're still learning about each other. And I guess it came to the time when we go over the horrible high school years"

Kurt smiled softly "I guess so" Blaine threw him a small smile and rubbed his back once more. "Thank you"

"You're welcome, but honestly, you should thank Nellie for stopping Rachel from coming back here" Kurt sighed and then pulled away from Blaine, leaning against the bathroom counter. "Are you mad at her?"

"No…I'm just upset that she thinks she understands…she was bullied too, but she was never actually tossed into dumpsters and shoved into lockers. She only really got the slushies and the name calling. But she ended up becoming friends with the girls that used to torture her. And she also wasn't threatened to be killed. I understand that she had a rough life, I do, but sometimes, I don't get why she thinks she had it worse off in high school. When she got all the solos, she got the Quarterback as a boyfriend; she got into the college we both applied to..." Kurt trailed off and then looked up at Blaine. "I guess I'm bitter about how well her life turned out"

"Hey, hey, hey" Blaine said as he walked over to his boyfriend and placed his hands on his hips. "I say that your life turned out pretty well. You're the editor of a famous fashion magazine, you have a nice apartment, you've got great friends, and you've got me" Blaine smiled and Kurt smiled back at him. "Maybe she got what you wanted a couple of times, but you could be a lot worse. You could be living on the streets with no job, no friends, and no money."

"I guess you're right…and I'm sorry for laying all of this on you…I guess I've needed to vent to someone for a long time. Someone who wasn't as close to Rachel as they were to me"

"Well, I'll always be here for you to vent to" Blaine smiled and kissed him softly "And I hope you know that" Blaine spoke softly as he pulled back.

"Thank you Blaine" Kurt said as he grinned at the shorter boy. "You're perfect"

"If you say so" Blaine poked Kurt's side, causing Kurt to giggle softly "But in this relationship, I'd say that you're definitely the perfect one"

"Hmm, I don't think so" Kurt said with happiness in his eyes, and Blaine was glad to see that he felt a little better than before. "You're the perfect one"

"But you made the first move"

"Okay, if we're going by that basis…you kissed me first."

"You…liked me first"

"You…" Kurt thought for a moment "embarrassed me first"

"That doesn't count"

"Why not?"

"because I'm pretty sure Rachel caused most of your embarrassing moments"

Kurt chuckled "That's true, that is very true."

"So, what do you say that we go back out there and finish up our coffee before Nellie and I have to perform?" Blaine smiled and grasped Kurt's hand, squeezing it gently. Kurt grinned back at him and then nodded quickly.

"That sounds perfect.

They walked out of the bathroom, glad that there was no line for it. If there was, the two of them were sure that they would be accused of doing something inappropriate.

They walked back to the table, hands intertwined, dopey smiles on their faces. Then, Kurt's smile faltered when they reached the table and they both sat down in their old spots, looking at the only other two people at the table.

"Where's Rachel?" Kurt questioned, looking at his two friends that sat across from him.

"She got a call and left" Blake said, taking a drink of his coffee. "Said it was about one of your old friends or something"

"I'm going to be pissed if one of them are visiting and I wasn't inviting to whatever they were doing"

"Oh, whatever Kurt, we're way better" Nellie smirked and Kurt laughed

"Sure…."

"Hey! At least we're entertaining!" Blake exclaimed

"Obviously, you've never met the New Directions…" Kurt said, a far off gaze in his eyes.

"We've met you, and Rachel, and Rachel's boyfriend who was in the club"

"And I've met you're step brother!" Nellie said with a grimace. "He was all over me when I went to Ohio with you last year"

"Which I apologized for…in advance…knowing that he would most likely throw himself at you"

"Why'd Kurt's step brother throw himself at you?" Blake questioned and Nellie sighed with a roll of her eyes.

"He found me different I guess"

"Well…yeah, he did…you're not as girly as Rachel or his other ex-girlfriend Quinn. So, he tried to take the chance that was given to him" Kurt chuckled "He's quite stupid to be honest."

"And yet you liked him" Kurt's eyes widened as he stared at Nellie, who simply giggled

"How'd you know about that?" And then his eyes darkened and he glowered at the empty spot beside Nellie. "It was Rachel, wasn't it?" Nellie nodded and tried to hide her smile as the other two boys were confused.

"Um…you liked you're step-brother?" Blaine asked, confused and kind of disgusted.

"I swear I'm not weird! It was before he was my step-brother. And just for the record I liked him because he was the first guy I had met at my high school that actually kind of told someone else to leave me alone, so it was more of an idolization than a crush."

"Rachel said you still wanted to date him though"

"Yeah, I did, then I realized what an idiot he was" Kurt rolled his eyes.

"You have an odd past…" Blaine trailed off and Kurt groaned, which caused even more confusion from everybody at the table.

"You have no idea"

Blaine smiled at Kurt and he was glad that he had hired Nellie as his backup singer. He figured he would have eventually met Kurt, considering that Blake worked for him, but who knows how long that would've taken? And when they met, it was possible that one of them could've been dating someone else. So, all in all, he was grateful for Nellie.

.Blake.

It was silent as Nellie and Blaine walked away from Blake and Kurt and onto the stage to set up. They watched them for a little while and then Blake turned towards Kurt. Kurt felt eyes on him so he glanced over to find Blake staring at him. "What?"

"I know that that Karofsky guy did a lot of stuff to you, but I think you should've stayed above the table" Kurt sighed and was about to tell him that he didn't get it, but Blake cut him off "You should've stayed above the table and you should've showed him that even though he tortured you through your high school years, you still made it out of Ohio and into New York. You ended up fine"

"But I didn't end up fine if I can't even look at him without thinking back to every horrid thing he did to me" Kurt stared down at the table, trying to stop himself from crying.

"Kurt, of course you're going to look at him and think that. Every time I look at my parents, I think of my miserable childhood. But we need to start shaking all of that off and looking at where that brought us. Kurt, you're so successful-"

"In the one thing that I never planned on the pursuing"

"And, that's success. Something didn't work out, but you didn't necessarily give up. You just realized that maybe you'd be better at something else, and you switched your dream and you achieved it" Blake smiled softly at him, catching his eye "You overcame the bullying and you turned out to be a great human being"

"That's not true" Kurt sighed "I'm not a great human being at all. I'm awful. I criticize, I'm mean, I'm sarcastic-"

"So? You're not perfect, nobody is. Everyone criticizes, everyone's mean, and you're sarcasm can be hilarious. Kurt you wouldn't be you if you weren't any of those things"

Kurt groaned and then laid his head in his arms that were folded on the table. "When did you get so good at pep talks?"

"I don't know" Blake shrugged "I just related this to how I felt when I was younger and I just substituted your bully as my parents"

"You're parents really made you feel that way?" Kurt questioned softly and Blake nodded sadly

"It was honestly like they lived to torture me rather than love me. I often think that I was a mistake and they just kept me anyway"

Kurt sighed "Life sucks"

"Yeah, but it got better, don't ya think?" Blake questioned as he looked over at Nellie and Blake who were discussing something a few feet from the stage. Kurt followed his gaze and then smiled and nodded in agreement.

"Nellie's really lucky to have you…even if you two aren't even dating yet" Kurt chuckled and Blake turned his head back to stare at him with a smile on his face.

"Thanks, and Blaine's really lucky to have you, and believe me, he knows that" Kurt smiled brightly at them and they turned towards the stage where Blaine and Nellie were on the stage, about to start.

.Nellie.

"Seriously, he hasn't asked you out?" Blaine asked as they stood to the side of the stage, chatting as they tuned the guitars.

"No, we've only been on one date. We don't automatically because a couple like you and Kurt did" Blaine rolled his eyes but kept a smile on his face.

"But I heard that you two kissed quite a lot" Blaine winked "And it seemed like Blake was going to start singing"

"Like you sang 'Teenage Dream' after your date with Kurt?" Nellie giggled at the look on his face.

"Shut up! I'm sure you went back to your apartment after your date and just talked about the whole thing with Kurt" Nellie rolled her eyes in annoyance and amusement "I didn't have anyone to tell, so I danced around singing instead"

"Yeah, that's the reason" Nellie laughed and Blaine pouted at her "You're such a big baby"

"And you're mean"

"So, I've been told" Nellie responded and Blaine chuckled. Nellie's smile faltered and she glanced over at Blake and Kurt, who seemed to be having a deep conversation. "Did he really seem happy after our date?" Blaine smiled sympathetically at her, knowing she was insecure.

"Nellie, I swear. I've known him since we were in high school, and I've never, in all of those years, seen him this happy over a girl. He's so into you that it's almost creepy" Nellie let out a half-hearted giggle and Blaine placed a hand on her shoulder "If he didn't like you, he wouldn't lead you on. He really does like you and I know he won't hurt you"

Nellie looked back over to Kurt and Blake, catching Blake's eye. He grinned at her and she couldn't help but grin back. She then turned back to Blaine and smiled at him. "Thank you, Blaine"

"You're welcome, Nells" Blaine grinned back "Now, let's rock this"

Nellie giggled and shook her head "Please don't ever say that again" Blaine pouted and Nellie laughed again. "But, just for the record, we are going to rock this"

Blaine laughed and the two of them hopped onto the stage, greeting the people in the café right before they started their first song, as they occasionally glanced over at Blake and Kurt's table.

Yay! Another chapter! :) Hope you liked it! The next chapter will have some old faces :) Feel free to guess who it will be in your review :P
