Apparently my resurrection made me afraid of doors. For the second time in just a few days, I found myself unable to cross that threshold.
Maybe that's my crippling weakness; I can't stand the thought of hurting someone or upsetting their life. Maybe that's the real reason I never quit the team even when I had the opportunity.
I shook my head. I couldn't do it.
I pulled up my hood onto my head and started to walk away. The door opened behind me.
"You stood there for ten minutes, might as well tell me what you want."
Same old aggressive Abby. I turned back around slowly and pushed back my hood away from my face.
Abby gasped and dropped her freshly made cup of coffee.

"So, you were reborn with superhuman abilities in order to help save the world from and impending doom?" Abby reviewed.
I nodded.
Abby and I were sitting on her couch, facing each other, our legs tucked under us and another fresh mug full of coffee in Abby's hand. The shock wore off quickly, just like I knew it would, and she demanded the whole story. So I told her.
"And, just so you know, I don't think they were talking about the REACH," I added. "I think they were talking about something much worse."
"That's bad business right there. The REACH," Abby said in between sips. "Good thing I have a conspiracy theorist for a boss or he'd never let me write articles against the REACH. Everyone worships them."
"At least there's a journalist out there who isn't falling for their crap." We laugh together for the first time in too long a time.
Then Abby went quiet. She just kept staring into her mug.
"Abby, what's wrong?" I asked.
"I used to feel so guilty: that I survived and you didn't It got to the point where I couldn't even look Roy in the eye and I had to cut myself off from the team, even Kaldur. I couldn't completely stay away, however, so I moved to this poorly named 'Happy Harbor.'"
I placed my hand over hers. "Hey, it's not your fault. What happened was meant to happen. I'm here now. That's all that matters."
Abby put her cup down on the coffee table and pulled me into a rather chest-crushing hug. I put my arms around my best friend who thankfully hadn't changed too much in the time lost. It was a peaceful moment.
And that's when my cell phone went off.
I pulled out of Abby's arms and answered it.
"Hello?"
"Erin, it's Roy. He's awake."
"I'll be right there." I hung up the phone and looked at Abby.
"What's going on?" she asked.
"Roy's awake."
"The original Roy?"
I swallowed. "Yeah. Red found him a few weeks back."
Abby stood up and started shoving on her shoes. "Well, let's go."
"What?"
"You'll have to face him sooner or later, I mean, his clone is practically your soulmate. Gotta let the guy down easy."
I let out an inappropriate giggle while Abby finished getting dressed.
We make our way to the secret entrance on the side of the Cave. I typed in my code and the hidden door slid open.
"Your code still works?" Abby asked as we headed in.
I nodded. "They probably didn't think to deactivate it."
"We didn't really want to accept the fact that you were gone."
"No kidding," I agreed. "You should've seen my room when I came back."
We made our way into the main hall where the transporter was. Dick was already in there, searching through files on the mainframe.
"Hey, Dickie," I called out.
He turned around. "Hey, Erin. Been wondering where you were." He looked at Abby. "Long time, no see Agnew."
"Way too long, Grayson."
Dick smiled. "When you two were together that usually meant trouble."
"Actually," I said, "Roy woke up." Silence. "Do you want to come and see him?"
Dick shook his head and went back to his files. "I never really knew him. Besides, I have work to do."
I nodded and plugged in the coordinates to take us to Star City.
"Is it just me or did Dick get broodier?" Abby whispered.
"He won't admit it, but he's becoming like Bruce."

We bypassed the nurse's station and went straight to Roy's room, where once again found myself paralyzed a few feet away from the door.
"You and doors," Abby grunted.
Abby rolled her eyes and marched through the door. A second later, she poked her head out. "Do you have the room?"
"What?" I started towards the door. "Of course. I have the right room." I froze when I entered. The room was empty, the bed in disarray, and the window wide open.
I pulled out my cell phone and called Roy.
"Erin, now is not the time–" Roy said when he answered the phone.
"Where are you?"
"Standing outside one of Oliver's safe houses." Roy sighed, "Roy's going after Luthor."
"Where's Luthor?"
"Metropolis."
"I'm on my way." I hung up before Roy could protest.
"What's going on?" Abby asked.
"Roy – the one who's supposed to be lying in that hospital bed – is going after Lex Luthor."
Abby gasped. "Where's Luthor?"
"Metropolis."
"Well, then, let's go!"
I froze. Facing Roy when he was asleep was hard enough. Now he was on a revengeful warpath.
"Erin, I know what you're thinking and it's gonna happen sooner or later. So unfreeze your butt and let's get to the nearest transporter."
I smiled softly. My voice of reason.
I took a deep breath and we exited the room.
