By the time they had gotten back to the lab Eric had called Horatio and told him about Christi's meltdown at the scene and Horatio knew why and told Eric to tell her to home. So that is what Christi did. She left the lab she went over to the cemetery where Speed was buried and she had brought white lilies, which were her favorite and the ones he brought her on their first date, and she put them in vase that was with the headstone. She sat there in the grass and pulled out a picture from her purse and laid it on the grave.
"Hey Timmy Bear." She says weakly, "You're gonna be a daddy. I just found out a few days ago. I haven't told anyone. I wanted to come here and tell you first. I miss you so much. I had a meltdown today. I swear every time I hear a bike I think it's you." She says weakly fighting tears but fails and they spill over her cheeks.
"That's one way to find you are going to be aunt." Christi leapt to her feet and spun around and saw Speed. Well, Speed if he was leaner, two inches shorter and a woman. It was Speeds twin sister Virginia Speedle. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you or overhear. I was just coming to see his final spot. Mom had fought to get him home in New York, but I won that battle. I'm Virginia. His twin and you are Christi Delko, right?" Christi nodded and wiped her tears.
"Yeah, uh how'd you know by the way of who I was? I only remember meeting your mom, dad and little brother that's it." Christi said pushing her hair back with her free hand as she lies her other hand on her belly.
Virginia smiled at the unconscious movement and then looked at Christi. "That's Speeds way. He introduces the girl to mom, then dad and then Lucas. And lastly me. I'm his twin. He sent a photo too me of you. About a month after you started."
"Umm we actually met at his funeral. It wasn't the ideal way but we met. She actually offered to let me come up and stay there if I ever needed to get away and right now I'm thinking about it. I can't even go near trace it's still to fresh."
Virginia smiled her mom was always taking in strays. "I know that. I was just telling you how Speed works...well worked. Damn, you think its hard for you all, I'm his twin. Sorry that was bitchy."
"No, I completely understand. You were his twin. It has to be harder on you than the rest of us. I just miss him so damn much and this baby won't even know their daddy. I'm petrified to tell my family. I grew up in a strict Catholic family so my parents aren't going to be happy about this." Christi says lightly clutching her shirt protecting her baby out of maternal instincts.
Virginia walked over and hugged her and said, "You can put it off as long as you want too. But they need to know. And I'm staying in town for a bit. You can always bunk with me." Christi smiled and learned into the hug. The women let go after a few minutes.
"So what do you do?" Christi asked.
"I am a Jane of trades. I have the same degrees as Speed only mine came through GI benefits and schooling. I have been with the FBI for three years, then I was in New York with Mac Taylor and now I'm with NCIS. Or was. I'm on a temporary leave of absence. I may or may not go back. I have a friend begging me to come back to Hawaii. But who knows. My problem is I don't feel like I belong anywhere."
"I'm going to have to tell them soon when I start showing its going to be impossible to hide it once I start getting the baby belly and I think you would be a good fit here in Miami. Besides my brother would flip when he finds out, in a good way that is." Christi says as she pulls out another copy of the sonogram and hands it to Vee, "Here you can have a copy. I have a couple more. One for my brother so I can tell him then two extra. One for the baby book and just a spare. I had a few printed out so I could put them where or give to who I wanted."
Virginia took the sonogram and smiled. The miracle of life. Now if only she could tell her that everything would be ok. But they both had a duty to do. "Maybe I will plant my roots here and settle. No one knows what the future holds."
Christi nods and says, "I'm hoping it's a boy and look like him. You'll love it here. The weather is nice year long."
Virginia smiled and put the photo in her boot. "Yea, true. But so does Hawaii. I need someone or something that will make me go, 'oh, ok, this is it.' Hasn't happened yet." "It will." Christi said. "You sound sure."
"I am sure." She said with a soft smile. She knew Eric would charm his way into her life easily.
