The next day Christi and Vee are heading into the lab after Vee gets a visitors pass. The first place they head over to is Horatio's office where he and Alexx are waiting. Christi had texted them and asked them to wait there as she had something she wanted to show them and only them at the moment. She wasn't ready to let the rest of team know that she and Speed had been together or that she was pregnant with his child. She just wasn't ready for all of that.
Virginia had been allowed to keep her sidearm, as she was still currently a federal agent. She had clipped the visitors badge to her belt loop. She had raided her twins closet, she was staying at his apartment, and was wearing a Nickelback concert graphic tee shirt and black jeans. And ankle high heeled boots. She had her long dark brown hair pulled back in a pony tail. They entered Horatio office to hear gasps.
"Speed." Said Alexx.
"That's what I thought but she's his twin. Horatio, Alexx, this is Speed's twin sister Virginia Speedle. Vee, this is Horatio and Alexx. Or as we all like to call them Momma Alexx and H." Christi says then laughs lightly, "Ask Alexx why we all call her 'Momma Alexx'. It's really funny. Ask her what she did to Speed when she found out we started dating."
Virginia grinned and said, "She threatened to autopsy him alive if he hurt you. I know. Speed told me. Good to finally meet you all and put faces to names. Speed's protective of me."
Alexx grinned, "Yep, I give that threat out to all of the people my babies bring to meet us all. I even do it to Horatio. And it's wonderful to meet you. I knew Timmy had a brother but I didn't know he had a twin sister."
Virginia nodded and said, "Yea, Speed kept me secret because he was so paranoid that something would happen to me if people knew he had a twin. I'm going to be in Miami awhile. Not sure if I'm going back to NCIS."
"She is looking for a place to belong, H." Christi said.
"Well I'm sure you'll fit in right here. Why don't you come to the lab for a while?" Horatio says.
Virginia took a long look at Horatio Caine and nodded. She said, "Would love a tour. And H, its not your fault. And for what's worth I'm glad you were with him."
Horatio nodded and they left the office together and he said, "Its worth more than you know."
Christi heads to the print lab while Horatio gives Virginia a tour.
"So I'm guessing Christi and the team don't know where he really is?" Virginia asks as he gives her the tour once they left the print lab so she knew Christi wouldn't hear. She was too fragile at the moment and knowing the truth at the moment would send her spiraling into a depression and they couldn't afford that at the moment.
Horatio looked at her and raised his eyebrow. "You were aware?" He asked quietly.
"Yes. I'm one of his handlers. Though officially I'm on leave."
He nods then says, "No she doesn't know. He begged me not to tell her. He didn't want her taking every case for him if she was aware. He knew if she was told she would do that. So changing the subject, do you know the cause of her meltdown yesterday and why she's been moving extremely careful this last week. If she needs something done at a crime scene done with chemicals she makes someone else do it. That's not like her. It has me worried. Every time I ask her she brushes it off and says she's fine."
Virginia nodded and pulled him into a blind spot of the cameras and it was also quiet. "She is pregnant. But you don't know. Yes, its Speeds. And H, I need more than last time. My Seal buddy is giving me a good deal."
Horatio nodded and said, "I know. I understand where you are coming from."
Virginia nodded and turned and left the room, or would have had Horatio not grabbed her elbow.
"I do love you. I just need time."
"I have given you 10 years H. I can't wait forever. I want a family, I want children." Horatio nodded and let her go and she walked away.
Horatio sighs and leans against the wall as she walks away. He was in love with her it was just difficult to actually commit. Last time he did that he lost her when she ran out on him. He knew Virginia was different but he was still frightened.
Speed was leaning against the railing of his condo in Santa Monica looking over at the ocean. He missed Christi more than anything. He hated doing this to her and he was going crazy not being able to talk to her. He looks into the condo as he hears his laptop beep with a new call on Skype and he goes and answers it.
"Hey Vee. What's up? You rarely every call me on Skype. What's up?" he asks worried. She only did this when something was really wrong, something was bothering her or she had to tell him something face to face.
He watched his twin lean forward and lay her head on her hand. 'It's annoying that I have go through freaking NCIS secure channels to put a call into you. Next time say no to the damn case ok?'
"I will. What's on your mind?"
'Christi. She's pregnant. Now end the damn case. And get back East, so we can get you back. I may or may not stick around.'
"Wait, she's pregnant! How far along? Is she alright? What's going on? Is she healthy? Is she eating? Taking all her prenatal vitamins and everything?" he asks firing away questions quickly worried about her so much more now. He was away from her when she needed him most.
'Take breath, Tim. Yes to all your questions. She is in good hands. I will watch her. As said I'm hanging out in Miami. And no, Horatio is still playing games. Or just being really slow.'
"How far along is she do you know? And when I get back I'll knock some sense into him. Damn it. I'm stuck here while she's pregnant without me. I'm going to miss everything. Fuck." He growls pissed off. Him saying yes to this damn case. It was supposed to be an open and close case but now it was taking forever to close it.
'A few weeks, maybe 8. Not sure for sure. I'm adult I can take care of myself. Plus he knows that I have an offer.'
"Steve?" Speed asked distractedly.
'Yes.'
"Alright, and can you find out? I need to know of how much time I have to get this case closed before she has the baby. I want to try and get there before she has the baby." He said running his fingers through his hair.
Virginia rolled her eyes and grinned. 'Yes. And Tim, don't rush it. Get that SOB, ok?'
"I know, I just want to be there for her when she goes into labor. She shouldn't have to do that without me and not to mention I don't want to miss my first born's birth." Speed said.
Virginia gave him a look that said whose fault was that? 'I know, bro. But just do your job and I will take care of her and little one.' Speed nodded and sighed.
'Relax Timothy James. I will make sure she's safe and doesn't do anything stupid. She's already taking precautions. She's moving much more easily, if she's at a scene and something with chemicals needs to be done she has someone else do it. She stays in prints and AV. She refuses to step foot in trace so you have no worries there and she hovers outside of DNA. She's being careful. I was watching her all day today. She's just stressing over her family's reaction that she's unmarried and pregnant and not to mention of Eric's reaction that you two were together and she's pregnant with your baby. I'm working on getting her to relax on that.'
"She has every right to stress. Carmen and Pavel are savage when it comes to Eric and Christi dating and their lives. They nearly disowned Eric for dating Natalia and they're trying to hook Christi up with some rich Cuban guy. They're power and money hungry. You need to be with her whenever she's with her parents. Eric can just barely handle them on his own without having to worry about Christi. Please Vee." He begs.
Speed laughed as the computer monitor and said, 'Damn it Speed. I know this. I have eyes and I can put two and two together. Ok? I got it. Now chill and get the dumbass so you can come home.'
"Sorry, I'm just worried about her now. That was another reason why she was scared of telling her family." Speed said sighing.
Before she has the chance to answer him her phone goes off with Christi texting her asking her if she could go with her to talk to her parents and tell them about her and Speed and the baby.
'Speak of the devil. She is texting me to come with her to tell the parents. I will talk to ya later. We will find finish this then.'
"Shit alright. Tell me how it goes later too." He says and Virginia nods and closes the conversation.
Christi and Virginia were heading back to the table where Carmen and Pavel were waiting and Christi was a nervous mess. She was scared about telling her parents but she just wanted to get it over with. She had told Eric earlier, he was mad at first but then he could see it in her eyes of how much she loved Speed and how scared she was and his anger melted away and he hugged her telling her that he would be there for her the entire time.
"Mami, Papi." Christi says nervously trying to hide it in her voice so that her parents couldn't hear it and start the questioning before she was ready.
"Yes, little one?" Virginia stood in the background and waited. She was only needed if bloodshed was on the horizon. She grinned to herself and thought that she needed to call Ziva later.
"I need to tell you something and bear with me and let me talk then you can react on however you want to." Christi says then pauses taking a breath and says, "Before Speed died he and I had been dating for three months and now I'm eight weeks pregnant with his baby." She says quickly and mostly in Spanish hoping they would react in Spanish not sure if she could take the humiliation and have the entire restaurant stare at her as her parents flipped out.
Virginia heard the gasps and stepped in and sat down and spoke in rapid Spanish. "I'm Speeds twin sister. So if you want to blame a dead man I'm more than happy to arrange a meeting. At the cemetery. Now, your daughter is pregnant and dealing with the death of her true love. Now how are you going to respond? With the typical Catholic anger and righteousness or as a parents? And be there for her? Because my family is more than willing to step in. The ball is in your court. And if she cries, I will be forced to get very New York."
Pavel growls something at Christi in Russian and she replies back fighting tears shaking her head begging him not to do what he was threatening. He gives her a hard look that makes her flinch and look down at her hands.
Virginia's voices cuts like ice in an even harder tone of Russian and her glare was even colder. "You are no man, let alone a father if you do that. And if you do you will never see the baby."
"Stay out of this. You have nothing to do with this. She whored herself out and she deserves what is coming to her. Now Julio will never go near her. She ruined everything. She did it all over a stupid puppy love crush." Carmen growls.
Virginia stood up and leaned into her face. "Sweetheart, I am in this. That is my brothers child. And I'm appalled, you leave Cuba for freedoms of my country that I have flight to defend and you act as if you are still there. And by the way Julio is being looked at by the Feds. For dealing with terrorist. Among other things. Now you two going to be civil or do I send her to New York right now?"
"Send her where you want. Do we look like we care now? She was stupid enough to get knocked up unmarried. It's her own fault she has no family. I'm sure Eric feels the same way as well. She should've been like her sisters. Married well and never having to work a day in her life." Pavel snorts.
Virginia gave him her shit eating grin and said, "No, Eric is being more of nana than you. He supports his sister. Now I believe we are done here. I learned in the Special Forces time was to precious to waste, so let's go, Christi. Oh and Pavel and Carmen, come near her, I will arrest you both. Don't think I wont try me."
"Fine." Pavel snorts as he and Carmen get up and leave. Seeing and having her parents act the way they did upset Christi. She lets her tears fall and she sighs. She knew she should've expected that but she was hoping for the best with her parents.
Virginia laid her hand on her shoulder and said, "Come on, sweetie, Alexx and Eric are waiting for us at Horatio's. Let's go. Its time to let time work its delicate and mysterious work." Christi nodded and stood up and they left.
