I am so enormously sorry that no amount of description could possibly encompass my regret. I will be updating infrequently but definitely updating. College is a lot harder than it looks..

She rams her fist against the cave wall until she feels her knuckles rip through the white gloves. Through scraps of torn skin, black blood leaks from her veins. Memories more vivid than reality begin to flood her vision and spill over into her world. She falls to her knees and goes blind with what crawls within her. Her blood sizzles as it drips onto the cave floor and leaves pebble sized dents in the earth. As Amy fades back into what she can only assume is reality, she allows the sobs to wrack her body, each one a symphony being played for the comrades she lost and the future that went with them.

She crawls to the farthest end of the cave and kneads at the dirt surrounding her. Amy's body remains rigid for what feels like hours, battling visions of monsters with the chant she created after her escape, "This is not real, this is not real, this is not real." Yet the monsters tear at her barrier, each attack seems stronger than the last, and she doesn't know what will happen if they reach her.

As her protection begins to crack and the fissures beneath her begin to open up, a voice pierces through the madness, "Rose?"

Feet from her, a figure drenched in black and red stares down at her. His arms are tensed and his stance is balanced as if to fight off the monsters he cannot see. Shadow recoils away from Amy as he stares into the swirling black pupils that have swallowed all of her emerald eyes. At his hesitation, the abominations that had paused at the sight of Shadow began to stumble towards him. She watched as her hallucinations surrounded him and began to slash at him.

Shadow cried out as the darkness surrounding Amy pierced through his arm, causing him to stumble against another dark entity. Amy sat in horror as she watched the ultimate life form be ambushed and mauled by her mind. Shadow wanted to Chaos Control far away from enemies that, for the first time in his life, vastly overpowered him. However, without an emerald, he would have to leave Amy behind and, although he didn't understand what was going on, he refused to leave her behind.

Shadow cries out after one of his few successful attempts to block the unseen force, "Rose! Run!"

Amy's mouth hangs open and clamps shut a few times before she fully grasps what is going on in front of her and she whispers, "Stop."

With one final stab across Shadow's face, the darkness fades into the fissures surrounding Amy. The intense pressure within the cave dissipates and the hazy afternoon sun begins to cool the heat of battle.
