Holidays Approaching
Jack stared at the gold tube in his hands, sitting by the window as usual, watching over Artemis as she slept quietly. Over the past week now, she had been getting less and less sleep, no matter how much she refused the accusation, it was written all over her appearance and the way she acted. So Jack had now made a job to make sure she slept, and figure out what was keeping her up, and in truth, she could very well think she was getting sleep but not. And Jack particularly took part in watching to make sure Pitch wasn't getting in her head.
Glancing back at her a couple of times, Jack begged the man in the moon to give him any sign whats so ever. Of course there was none, until a light glare caught his eye. Looking back over to Artemis, the light from the moon shown against the necklace she wore, giving up a sharp glare of mostly blue light. Quickly floating over silently, he held it up examining it, it was the same ice crystal she had found when he first brought her here, looking back out the window with a stubborn face, he started to think of every possibility. Of course he couldn't think straight enough to get one.
Sighing to himself, he watched the girls body move up and down slowly, almost causing him to lay down and relax. Her breathing with his was the only sound in the room. She stirred slightly once in a while but other than that she seemed to be sleeping. Feeling as if she was good for the night, she gave her one last look before opening a portal and heading out. Leaving the room with an empty silence, besides only one figure breathing.
All the peacefulness seemed to change like a part in a instrumental song as a dark shadow entered the room, avoiding the moons light. Eventually crawling up the bed and covering the girl, who was now frantically moving, sweat beating down on her. Eyes shut tightly as if she was in pain, she thrashed her blanket off, heating up only to be blasted with cold when the window abruptly opened. Causing the Artemis's eyes to flutter open, her body flinching straight up. Her breathing was shallow gasps, digging her nails into the bed sheets as her eyes scanned the room.
"A-another nightmare" she said to her self, holding pieces of her hair back as she sat there for a long period of time, calming herself but only slightly. She glanced around the room again, the cool air was bursting through the window, causing her to jump up and shut the opening tightly. The sound of metal clanking on the ground caught her attention to the gold tube that fell. Picking it up she examined it through the dark, only getting to make out a picture of her at the end of it, giving it a curious look she set it back down and took a sigh. She played with her wiggling tooth, wondering where Jack was. Yet, instead of calling for him, she pulled out from under her bed a bag. Then inside it, a gift that was meaning to be wrapped. It was a present from her to Jack, she had been meaning to wrap it for a while.
Visiting North once, he told her that Jack was at the top of the naughty list, never going to get a simple present, like every year. So she thought she would make him something for once, 300 years without a single gift, probably got him a little off around this year. She smiled at it and began wrapping it up, unaware of the dark shadows that emitted from under her bed. Somehow, as if watching everything, smirked to itself in a twisted manor. It as well as Artemis, Jack and everyone else in the world, knew the holidays, more importantly, Christmas were soon to be~
