Chapter Twenty Five

"I can't believe you went against me," Draco hissed at his son. Lily hid off behind Scorpius, peeking over his shoulder.

"You didn't honestly think that I'd just decide that I didn't want to be with Lily anymore for something that happened before she knew I was back," Scorpius growled at his father.

"Did the tart tell you that she spent the night before your wedding sleeping with your best friend?" Draco growled. "Face it, Scorpius, you have no idea who this woman is anymore."

"You would do anything to keep us apart," Scorpius countered.

"She didn't, did she? Ha, I knew it, how many times did I tell you that she so eagerly jumped into bed with whatever showed her even a tad bit of attention," Draco sneered.

"Hey!" Lily protested, moving around Scorpius. She glared up at him. Draco glared down at her.

"Tell my son the truth," Draco growled at her.

"You know what? Damon did fall asleep in my bed, he was probably there all of thirty minutes before he made his way to the couch. Our clothes stayed on, our hands stayed to ourselves," Lily snapped at him. "The only time he ever touched me, it was to bond with our child. He's not had a single impure thought about me since Scorpius came back."

"Bull," snorted Scorpius. Draco and Lily jerked their heads to look at him. "What? Lily, don't be daft. Who wouldn't have impure thoughts?"

"I didn't sleep with Damon," Lily protested. Scorpius smiled at her.

"I know that," Scorpius shared.

"You know?" Lily couldn't help be sound surprised.

"Just because Damon is in love with you, and just because you're carrying his baby, doesn't mean that anything is going to happen between you two," Scorpius answered with a shrug. "I trust both of you, completely."

"Scorpius," Draco protested.

"No, Dad, look. I get it, I do," Scorpius marched to the door.

"He told me that they slept together," Draco shot at his son angry. "Tom had me come pick him up, drunk as a skunk, and Damon told me that they slept together."

"Dad, leave," Scorpius demanded.

"Scorpius-" Lily protested.

"Son-" Draco snapped.

"Go, Dad," Scorpius replied more forcibly. "I'll handle my wife."

"I swear, Lily," Draco growled as he walked back in a huff, glaring at her. What he swore, Lily didn't know. Scorpius slammed the door, holding it closed with his hand as he collected himself.

"Lily," Scorpius said slowly as her turned. He looked at her. "I want to know exactly what happened that night."

"I swear, nothing Scorpius," Lily promised. "He was asleep in my bed, waiting to bond with the baby, I tried to wake him up, I was too tired to deal with it, so I went to sleep. He was gone when I checked the clock an hour later."

"That's all?" Scorpius asked.

"That night, yes," Lily nodded.

"But there is more, isn't there?" Scorpius asked slowly.

"I kissed him," Lily looked down at her feet. "I wasn't aiming to, but it happened."

"Like on the cheek?" Scorpius asked, almost hopefully. Lily glanced away, answering his question without saying a word. He punched the door. "I'm going to kill him."

"No, Scorpius, wait," Lily cried out, grabbing his arm. "It was me, okay? I did it. He didn't know it was coming, he didn't start it, he didn't want it."

"Oh, I highly doubt that," Scorpius snapped, jerking his arm free.

"Scorpius, please," Lily begged.

"How could you kiss him?"

"It wasn't intentional, it just happened and I don't know why," Lily protested.

"Were you under the Imperius Curse?" Scorpius asked coolly.

"No," she hung her head.

"Have you ever?" Scorpius asked frowning. Lily shook her head.

"No," Lily crossed her arms.

"So, what? He tossed some pretty words at you and you threw yourself at him?" Scorpius sounded irritated, not angry.

"I don't know," Lily sighed. "I'm sorry."

"You're sorry? No, Lily. You're not sorry," Scorpius shook his head. "It needs to stop."

"I didn't set out to kiss him, Scorpius. I don't even know why I did it, but I am sorry," Lily crossed her arms. "I'm going to bed. Join me or not, I don't care!"

"Wait, you're mad at me?" Scorpius laughed coldly. "You kiss my best mate, when? On our wedding day? And you're mad at me? Wow, Lils. Get over yourself. You're a Malfoy now... act like it."

"Oh, act like a Malfoy? Really, Scorpius?" Lily snapped. "Fine. You know where your room is! Good night!" Lily pointed sharply toward the back of the apartment and then headed to her room, slamming the door. Scorpius waited a moment before Lily jerked the door open.

"Forget something, Mrs. Malfoy?" Scorpius asked coolly.

"Yeah, I have work tonight!" Lily snapped. She headed to the door, jerking her coat off the hook and pull her purse strap over her head.

"Have a good night," he snapped back.

"Fine, I will!" Lily huffed, slamming the front door. Lily marched down the stairs, forgoing the lift for some angry stomping down the stairs. She missed the last step and twisted her ankle, which made her cry out, part in pain, part in anger. She limped her way to work, the pain growing increasingly worse with every step. She was twenty minutes late for work, much to both Marshall and Shana's displeasure.

"You're late," Marshall chastised.

"I sprained my ankle, BOSS. Sor-ry!" Lily replied sarcastically as she limped to her chair. "Dock my time."

"Let me see," Marshall sighed. Lily's ankle was dark purple already. "Shana, get me a wrap and some bruise-b-gone."

"Okay," Shana waddled off.

"Do you want to tell me how this happened?" Marshall asked.

"Not really, no," Lily shook her head. Marshall didn't press matters, instead he wrapped her ankle with a generous layer of bruise-b-gone. Lily sat at the desk, filling out forms while Shana did her rounds. She ignored the feeling of someone watching her until the hair stood up on the back of her neck.

"Lily," the minister breathed.

"Agh!" Lily shrieked, falling back out of her chair hard.

"Merlin, girl, are you stupid?" the minister asked as he circled around the desk and grabbed her arm. He jerked her up off the ground roughly and pushed her back in the chair.

"Minister Parker, what the hell do you want from me?" Lily demanded.

"What the hell have you done to yourself?" he asked, glancing at her ankle.

"I fell," Lily crossed her arms across her stomach.

"Is the baby fine?" he asked as he reached for her stomach. Lily pushed her chair back, increasing the distance between them.

"Yes, he's fine," Lily snapped. "I probably did more damage falling out of the chair than spraining my ankle."

"Maybe you should get checked out," the minister said looking around for someone else on the empty hall.

"What is your deal? You have me arrested on bogus charges, send me away, and suddenly are acting fatherly like you actually care what happens to me," Lily demanded.

"You wouldn't understand," the minister told her. He reached again for her and Lily pushed the chair back until it slammed into the wall behind the desk, using her good foot.

"Do not touch me," Lily warned. "I don't know and I don't care what your sick obsession is, I just want to forget all you've put me through and move on."

"You have," he mumbled under his breath.

"Shana!" Lily yelled as the minister moved closer.

"Please, girl, don't be silly," the minister chuckled. "No one can hear you."

"You... you placed a muffliato spell on the area?" Lily accused. He smiled.

"See, I knew you were a bright witch," he told her. "Beautiful, too."

"Minister Parker, please," Lily begged as he stepped closer, wand in his hand.

"I'm not going to hurt you or the baby, for Merlin's sake," he promised. He placed his hand on her stomach, the baby kicked him away. "Oh there he is, isn't he?"

"Please get your hand off of me," Lily begged.

"Shush," he snapped at her. "You'll do what I tell you to do. I'm not above making people do what needs to be done."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Lily demanded.

"Shhh, it'll be fine, Lily," he promised. "You'll be right as rain when you leave here, hon. Now, take my hand, girl, and come with me."

"No, I don't-"

"Imperio!" he bellowed, and everything slipped away. Lily felt herself rise, hand in his, a blank look in her eyes. "That's my good girl. Now, I know there's an empty room around here. We're just going to talk, girl. I wouldn't dare risk this little boy's life doing much more."

"I-" Lily fought against the desire to follow.

"Come along, little girl," the minister cackled at her. "You always do eventually."
