I sit on the chair as I apply my light pink lipstick to my lips. I hear the doorbell ring and I gather up my things. I throw my lipstick in my purse and walk downstairs. I get there and I see my dad and Sam talking to each other. I walk right into them and they still before they realize that I arrived.
"Hello daddy, Hi Sam," I say to them. I give Sam a half-smile.
"Hello sweetie," my dad says, "I was just having a very interesting and enlightening talk with Sam. Wasn't I?" He darts his eyes at Sam and I can see Sam shrink right before my dad.
"Dad," I say, "You didn't try to scare Sam, did you?" I say, rolling my eyes at this whole ordeal.
"I just wanted to let him know to take care of my little girl," he says before giving me a kiss on my forehead.
"We better get going dad, we are going to be late," I tell him. And to get this date over with as soon as possible, I think to myself.
"Alright, don't have too much fun you two," My dad says.
"Don't worry, Mr. Fabray," Sam calls out, "I'll have Quinn home by 10."
Sam and I get in his car and he starts the ignition and we drive off. He talks the entire time and I just nod and listen. I don't say much other than to remind Sam where we are going and what street we are on. We pull up to breadsticks and I prepare to get out. Sam rushes over to open my door and help me out of the car. I thank him and he smiles. I hold my head up high as I place my fingers into his. We walk through the doors when I glance around the room.
"Where do you want to sit," I shrug my shoulders until my heart stops and I see Santana and Brittany at a table with Mike and Tina. Sam notices them as well. He waves at Mike and Mike waves back.
"Hey, look, It's Mike and Tina," Sam says. That's when Santana turns around and notices us. Her facial expression went from joyous and gleeful to sadness. I could feel my face getting red and hot.
"Come on Sam, let's go sit down," I tell him.
"Alright but Quinn don't you want to say hi?" He asks.
"No, not really," I tell him. Sam rushes over to them. I stand there looking dumb and alone as Sam starts chatting up Mike. I see Tina wave over at me, I give back a small wave. Santana has turned back to face Mike and Tina, ignoring me. I walk over to them, my steps being planted into the ground, and go up to Santana.
"Hi, Mike and Tina," I say, looking at them. They both say hi back with the extra amount of enthusiasm that I tried to portray. "Hi, Brittany," I say, turning my gaze to her. She gives me a smile and says hi back.
"Hi, Santana," I say at last.
"Hi, Fabray," She says to me, she does not turn to look at me but I could tell by the sound of her voice that she is not too thrilled to see me. Sam and Mike chat for a few minutes. As I catch glimpses of Santana and pretend I care about what the guys are talking about. Sam and Mike say bye to each other as he grabs my around my shoulders and we walk off in the other direction. We order our food and I see Brittany and Tina walk to the bathroom. Our food arrives when I notice Santana and the gang walk out and leave.
"So, how is cheerio practice?" Sam asks me.
"It's alright," I say. We start eating when I notice Santana walking back inside and go into the bathroom. I watch her the entire time. "Will you excuse me, please," I tell Sam and without waiting for a response I go straight to the bathroom.
