Once Upon a Time I

Once upon a time, I was a friendly person— one who didn't intentionally try and start fights or push people away when they get close to me. I'd rather help someone back onto their feet then be the one who pushed them down in the first place. I'd give the clothes off my back if a person looked more in need of them then myself.

Yeah. I know.

You can't believe it. You unhesitatingly point it out as a lie with very clear facts to back it up. You would never be able to picture it even with a clear, meticulously-detailed description.

I get it.

I'm not someone you'd trust enough to turn your back on without the fear of me stabbing it. You'd never try to be nice to me because you know you won't get the same response. You'd rather be friends with a serial killer because even if they were crazy, at least they wouldn't be seemingly staring straight into your soul with unnatural golden eyes.

I guess it'd be even less likely for you to believe that I am what I am now for the greater good.

Yes, laugh all you will— but it's the truth.

My sarcastic remarks, bitchy attitude, and violent tendencies are all for the better. Why?

Because the people who get close to me tend to be hurt.

She was the sweetest thing in this sick, twisted world.

Her amber eyes were always glinting with happiness and optimism. Her copper hair gave off its own light rather than reflect the sun's. Her lips were permanently shaping into either an innocent smile or a playful grin.

I destroyed that.

Her eyes no longer glow with joy but rather seem to suck in the light with anger. Her hair turned into a deep auburn that still glowed but with a dark tinge. Her lips are now only forming a furious scowl.

I caused that.

Out of all the mistakes I've made in my completely too long of a life, getting close to her— letting her become part of my life— was the worst.

I've ruined her.

I don't deserve to have another person get close to me. I'd only hurt them- tamper with their innocent auras.

So I just keep everyone a safe distance from me.

Far. Away.

Yeah, this was different that then other chapters. I was a bit of insight in Ira's mind. No particular time, really. I put this up cuz I thought, this is the 10th chapter (double digits, baby ;D), so it should be a little special. Don't know if the 20th chapter will be like this (probably cuz I'll forget), but I thought this would be nice. Short, but different. Yeah...

Bit more serious than other chapters I just realized. I dunno. It just happened. Who knows. My fingers type whatever they wish to type.
