Chapter 20 - I'm off!

Alyn's POV

I glare at the green and black haired boy as he ran up the stair to my sister. I hear her yell something involving my name and then her squealing and the door shutting.

I stand there before cuffing my hands around my mouth.

"You love birds! I'm going over to Peter's to study!"

I wasn't going to peter's or lying about the studying though. I was going to make them think I was leaving then go on the roof and through the window to my tower.

I get no reply and shrug. I shut the door behind me and volt onto the roof, landing silently. I walk quietly to the window of my tower and climb in. I shut the window and cover it again. I pull out a flashlight and duct tape. I duck tape the flashlight on the ceiling right above where the book would be and continue reading, pulling the hood back over my head.

I'm already half way through the book when I get to a chapter call "Joker Jr. - the end of Joker" I found it funny how it said the end of joker when there was still over a hundred pages left. I read it swiftly. More like I just skimmed through it.

I turned to the next page but it's completely black.

Wait… all of the pages past that have been spray painted black.

I go back to the "Joker Jr. - the end of joker. " and see that someone blacked out some of the words with sharpie and go through the book again and found that a whole three chapter have been ripped out.

I go to the Table of Contents and see that the three chapters that were ripped out and all the chapters after "Joker Jr. - the end of Joker." are sharpied out of the Table of Contents.

What the fuck?

Someone doesn't want some things to get out of the joker. I wish I knew wrote this book. I could go talk to them.

All I learned was that this joker guy was batman's enemy for many, many years, that his lover was some chick named Harley Quinn, and that he killed a bunch over people, so many he became a super villain during his first year of villain-ing.

I stand and place the book next my wonder wolf outfit and turn off the flashlight. I lock the windows and slide down the ladder.

I walk out and lock the door to my tower and then double check that it's locked. I've been up there for two hours.

Mostly because I burst into tears at one point because I was reminded of Peter and was silently crying for a while.

I can feel the tears running down my cheeks again but I shrug it off as I toss my shoes to the door and walk up the stairs. I knock on Van's door. "Night sis," I choke out before walking into my room, not caring to close the door today, and changing into my pj shorts. I flop onto my bed, facing my wall and began to sob. I cover my mouth to stay quiet but it's barely working.

I miss Peter too much.

I guess I cried myself to sleep. My pager is going off and I see that I have a bunch of messages from batman.

I run to the bat cave as I am. Pj shorts and peter's hoodie which is zipped up completely. Messed up hair and flip flops. Nothing else. I bet I look amazing.

I run in where robin is, thinking that's what the problem is but instead see batman kneeling over the butler dude who is laying on the floor.

Batman notices me and stands. "Where were you?" He asked, his voice colder than normal.

"My house, I was reading a book on-"

"A book was more important than protecting robin and Alfred?!" He shouts, causing me to jump.

I can't find my words, my voice.

"Alfred is dead and things are missing from the bat cave because of you."

I flinch at that before looking at the floor. I can't look at batman. I don't notice Robin moving slightly.

The are tears swelling into my eyes. Being yelled at by batman is worst than being yelled at my mom and dad at the same time and not because of his looks or his voice. It's because he's more of a parent to me then my real ones.

"Get out and never come back."

I look up at him and take in a deep breath, ready to turn and leave. "N-No D-Don't leave." I heard robin say weakly. I wipe the tears and walk over to him, " what is it?" I ask in a fake happy voice, putting on a fake smile, as I placed my hand on his head. I have to act like that didn't happen for a few minutes. Then I can go home.
