Poison & Wine - Chapter XXXIV

"It was their mother Esther who was sealed in that coffin," Elena started out with. She had gathered Damon and Stefan to join as she explained what Elijah had told her at their bump in at the hospital.
Was I jealous that Elijah spoke with Elena? Extremely. Was I going to act like I was? Absolutely not.
"As in the Original Witch?" Stefan asked.
"What? How is she even alive? Thought her hybrid freak show of a son ripped her heart out a thousand years ago," Damon glanced at me. "No offense to your hybrid." I stuck my tongue out at him; he had started acting as if Klaus and I were a couple and it irked me to no end.
"I don't know. I'm guessing she has a couple connections in the witching community. Elijah said that she wants to live in peace with her family, including Klaus," Elena looked in between all of us. I stared out of our kitchen window, jealousy burning inside me as I thought of Elijah and her speaking.
"She was supposed to be the weapon to help us kill Klaus," Stefan said, defeated.
"Well, not anymore... at least not according to Elijah."
"That coffin was the only thing stopping Klaus from tearing us to shreds," Stefan sighed.
"At least I'm safe," I nudged Damon. "At least according to you."
"Anyone else feeling a little used right now?" Damon looked at me.
"Look, Elijah promised me that his family wouldn't hurt any of us," Elena said right before the doorbell rang. "I believe him. Don't you, Andy?" Elena went to open the door.
"Just because I was romantically attached to him does not mean I believe a word he says," I called to her.
"Good, you learned your lesson," Damon ruffled my hair then followed Elena to which I immediately did as well. "What is it?" She was holding an envelope and there was a box siting on the doormat which I picked up and brought it over to the stairs. The envelope on top of the box was addressed to me.
"It's an invitation. 'Please join the Mikaelson Family, this evening at seven o'clock. For dancing, cocktails and celebration.'" Elena read hers first.
"Who the hell are the Mikaelsons?" Stefan asked.
"The Original Family," Elena said as I hesitated pulling the card out of my envelope. I finally pulled it out and read the same thing as Elena had.
"It's not bad enough they're moving into town, now they want a housewarming gift?" Damon groaned.
"Wait, there's a note on the back. 'Elena, I think it's time that we finally meet, Esther.'" Elena then walked over to me. "Does yours say anything?"
I flipped it over and read the message aloud. "'I never saw your dance moves in Portland, but I hope to tonight. Without our normal fights would be preferable, but if you cannot resist I understand. Fondly, Klaus P.S. Wear your necklace I gave you in Chicago.'" I looked over at Stefan. "Which I never got to thank you guys for leaving me with the psycho for that long."
"Wow, he's more interested than I thought if he's okay with you screaming at him," Damon said, to which I flipped him off for. I opened the box to see a gorgeous crimson dress that matched the necklace he had given me. I covered my face with embarrassment; I just had to open this in front them.
"Are you going to go?" Elena asked to which I shrugged in response and closed the box – with the envelope inside – and hauled it upstairs. When I got to my room, my phone rang with a call from an unknown number. Usually I would have ignored it, but something told me to answer.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Andy."
"Rebekah," I sat on my bed. "What can I help you with?"
"Well, I was hoping you could come help me pick out a dress for the ball tonight." I was shocked to say the least; why would she call me? I was nowhere near stylish by today's standards, at least. Caroline knew that stuff better than I did.
But… There was a hint of desperation in her voice that reminded me of her watching Anastasia die, and I felt inclined to help. "Ah, sure, why not?"
"I assume you know my address?"
"…Yes, I do," I felt like I was admitting to a scandal by saying that.
"Then I'll see you in fifteen." And with that she hung up.
"Well, then," I muttered, grabbing my car keys and jacket before heading downstairs to see Damon leaving.
"Going to meet your beau?" He asked as he held the door open for me.
"He's not my beau, Damon," I sighed as I walked past him; I really wasn't in the mood for this.
"Listen, Andy," He said as he walked along beside me. "Do you think you could stop hanging around Klaus?"
"Oh, so now you're dictating who I can and can't hang out with. Thought only Elena got that privilege."
"I just want you to be safe, and you're not around him."
I laughed. "Damon, we're no longer romantic interests. You're in love with Elena, remember?"
"That doesn't mean I can't worry about you."
"But that does mean that you have no input on who I hang out with. But then again, if we were dating, you wouldn't decide what I do with my time," I climbed into my car. "So don't try to make decisions for me, that's why you have Elena. Oh, and next time you Salvatores awake an Original, I'd like a day's notice." I slammed the car door in his face.
It took me ten minutes to arrive at the mansion, and a painful thought hit me as I pulled in.
Elijah.
What if I saw him? There was no way I'd be ready to talk to him. Oh, God, I'm going to faint or puke or, worse, both. Shaking, I went up to the door and slowly knocked.
"Andy," Rebekah said as she opened the door and stepped to the side. I gave a small, somewhat forced smile and stepped in, but was immediately thrown against a wall. "If you dare think on daggering me―"
"I wasn't even considering that until you slung me against the wall!" I snapped, grabbing my aching back. "Geez, that wall's harder than it looks. Why did you think I would dagger you?! I'm in a house full of Originals and – more than likely – hybrids!"
"Your lovely sister Elena stabbed me in the back, literally," She said as she folded her arms over her chest. "This way."
"You think I'm going to follow you after you threw me like a rag doll?" I demanded as I stood up and dusted myself off
"Don't be so dramatic," She started to walk away. Huffing, I followed her.
"Why didn't you call a fashion expert or something? I'm sure it wasn't because of money problems," I said as I looked at the fancy hallway.
"Well, I figured I might have some human input, even if it's pathetic," She glanced at my attire.
"You have a lot of friends, don't you?" I asked as we entered a room where music was playing.
"Rebekah? Tell me how handsome I am," A man's voice said from in front of a mirror. When I found the source I saw it was Kol, the one who painfully looked like Elijah.
"Ah Kol, you know I can't be compelled," Rebekah responded and I snickered as I followed her. A man – who I recognized as Finn – was getting fitted for a tux and grinned.
"This must be our latest Anastasia," Kol said, walking up to me. "Emmeline, is it?"
"Wrong century. I'm Andy," I corrected as he kissed my hand which I quickly drew back. "You must be Kol."
"The one and only," He smirked, something that reminded me strongly of Klaus.
"Right," I looked over to Rebekah, completely unimpressed. Suddenly the door opened and Klaus came in fuming.
"You went after Elena?" He demanded, going toward Rebekah. "What is wrong with you?!"
"Here we go," Rebekah sighed, looking to me. Elena had mentioned that Rebekah had tried killing her this morning, but now I knew it was because Elena daggered her.
"Do you want another dagger in your heart?"
"Again with the dagger threats? Don't you have any other tricks?" Kol asked as he turned toward him.
"Oh, go back to staring at yourself," Klaus glanced over at me but his mood didn't lighten.
"And who are you, my father?" Kol challenged. He just couldn't back down, could he?
"No, Kol, but you're in my house," Klaus pointed out.
"Then perhaps we should go outside," Kol stepped close to him.
"Girls, you're both pretty," I interjected, stepping in between the two. "Can you back off of each other?" These guys seemed to be worse than Elena and I, but that's probably because Elena and I wouldn't be able to tear the other's throat out even if we tried.
"Enough!" My head snapped to Esther who had just entered in the parlor. Though she paid no mind to me, I felt fear course through my veins at seeing her. I'd seen the way she treated Klaus. "Niklaus… come." She exited into another room.
Klaus looked at me a long moment before he followed after her. Rebekah, rolling her eyes and grabbing my arm, pulled me to the door. "We don't have much time," On our way out of the parlor, we passed right by Elijah.
I kept my head straight down because I was scared of what I would see in his eyes and what I would feel. I felt his eyes on me as we did.
"Andrea—" I heard him begin to say but Rebekah quickly interceded.
"Sorry, Elijah, Andy is my human right now." Rebekah led me to what I could only guess as her room and I saw about ten mannequins holding dresses. "Which one do you like best?" She asked as she turned towards me.
I walked over to the dresses and evaluated each of them. Almost instantly I cut out seven gowns that I knew wouldn't suit her; evidently some of Caroline rubbed off on me. We discussed the remaining three dresses, weighing the pros and cons. One had a too long train but had a fantastic top that would make her elegant yet sexy, but she didn't fancy that too much so we cut that one out.
At one point, I realized I was actually enjoying this to my surprise. Never would I have thought the girl who slung me down in that gym on Senior Prank Night would actually be interesting to talk to. Our discussion on which dress to get actually wavered a few times and we spoke about different times in our life that seldom had to do with the discussion. Maybe there was more to Rebekah than we thought, but I could just tell you that by the dreams I'd had that involved her.
We eventually picked a dress out – a floor length tight green dress that made her eyes pop – and headed to go to the Grill because she asked who she should ask as a date and I'd mentioned Matt, but only because I knew he'd like to come since he liked dancing, although he wouldn't admit it.
We talked about our lives again on our way there; she talked about a time Klaus, Elijah, and her were in England and Henry VIII tried to get with her to which we had a good chuckle over that for ten minutes because I've seen the paintings of him and he was not attractive as he was older, though she said he was handsome when he was younger. I said I'd take her word for it.
We entered the Grill – still giggling over Henry VIII – and I didn't notice what table we were headed to until we stood beside of it. "Careful, Caroline," Rebekah said, stopping right at the table that Elena and Caroline sat. "It's all well and good until she stabs you in the back."
"What are you doing here? I know your mom's rules. No hurting the locals," Elena said smugly.
"Get over yourself Elena. It's not all about you," Rebekah rolled her eyes and looked at me. "I had fun, Andy. We'll have to do this more often." With that she walked off.
"Why are you hanging out with her?!" Caroline demanded.
I merely shrugged. "She's not bad company, Care."
"Oh, my God. She's inviting him to the ball. Why is she inviting him?" Caroline demanded, looking around me. I turned to see Rebekah giving Matt an invitation, a smile breaking out on my face.
"Probably to get this reaction from us," Elena said.
Caroline scoffed. "What time is this stupid dance?"
"Seven o'clock," I answered, turning back toward them. "Will you guys do me a favor since I assume you're both going?"
"Yeah?" Elena asked.
"Can you help me avoid Elijah?"
"Andy, you'll have to have face him sometime," Caroline sighed.
"No one said that sometime was tonight," I said. "Just please, you guys, I don't want to talk to him."
"We'll do our best, but he is an Original," Elena stood. "Can you give me a ride home? I should start getting ready."
I tried my best to figure out who I was staring at.
The girl had her brown curls up for once but still had some that fell out and framed her face. There was silver glitter over her eyelids that sparkled like diamonds - she thought she was making a statement - while her eyelashes had black mascara and her lips were bare. Her pale cheeks had a light coating of blush on them. Moving down to her revealed she wore a strapless crimson ball gown that stretched out enough where you couldn't see all of it in the slender, full-length mirror. The crimson dress had diamonds along the top and bottom of it and while the ruffles and torso section laid untouched. Her heels – though unseen because of the gown – were silver with diamonds on them. Matching gloves covered up her arms slightly passed her elbow. Finally, arguably the masterpiece of her look, was a silver chain around her neck that went perfectly with the dress and her skin tone.
I suddenly realized that this was me. I was looking at myself in a mirror. How did I ever decide this? I suppose it was because I didn't know what I wanted, but I didn't want to stay home and risk another encounter with Emmeline. If Alaric was here I would, but he's stuck in observation at the hospital still.
As I walked to my car, I wondered how exactly I would get in without ruining my dress. By some miracle, I managed to do it without an accident.
The whole time I was driving to Klaus's mansion my stomach churned with the anticipation of seeing Klaus and also seeing Elijah. Despite not wanting to talk to him, I did want to see him again to refresh my memory of last night when I saw his hair cut… I liked his old hair style, but this new one made him even sexier and more modern. I thought vampires weren't supposed to change, but he seemed like he became better looking each time I saw him.
Stop, don't think about him or you'll end up wanting to talk to him and that could end badly, I thought to myself, mentally kicking myself. How was I supposed to let go when he would still be here?
I pushed those thoughts out of mind as I walked up to the mansion; I would have a fun night tonight without any drama, which meant I was not going to get angry at Klaus because they would definitely mess it up.
When I entered the room where all the guests were, my breath escaped me even though I'd been in here hours ago. The general splendor was just amazing and wiped away any of my thoughts about not coming that I'd had earlier.
Also, I noticed Klaus talking to a blonde, openly flirting. How classy of him. I started to look for Elena in the large crowd, but evidently Klaus had noticed my entrance as he blocked my pathway with a killer smile. His hair was slicked back and he certainly made that tux look good.
"Good evening," He said.
"Ditto," I glanced over to see the blonde he had been talking to was glaring over at me. "Is that your latest conquest?"
"You know you're the only one truly matters to me, Andy," He grabbed my hand and placed a kiss on it.
"Well… don't forget that flight attendant."
He chuckled. "Can I offer you a drink? Non-alcoholic, of course."
"I'm good for now, but thanks," I glanced down at my dress. "You look handsome, by the way. I think you just might be the Belle of the Ball."
"No, that title is saved for you," He glanced around us. "I even hear your name mentioned on the other side of the room. I knew I made a good choice on the dress."
I laughed at the image of Klaus in a dress shop, trying to decide on purple or crimson. "You should have been the one to help Rebekah, then." He started to speak, but was interrupted by Kol.
"You do look quite stunning tonight, Andy," Kol said as he strutted over. "And I thought I was just hearing rumors."
"That was an extremely backhanded comment," I said, raising one of my eyebrows. "But, hey, I'll take it. I suppose you don't look so shabby yourself."
"Though I am thoroughly enjoying your company, Andy," Klaus said, glaring at Kol. "It seems that I must speak with my brother in private, but I will find you later."
"Okay…" I said, scrunching my forehead up with confusion before I walked away, ending up right in front of Stefan and Damon.
Damon whistled. "If we were still romantic―"
I held up a finger. "Don't," I looked over at Stefan. "Have you gotten your humanity back?"
"Nope, he's still the ripper," Damon answered.
"I asked him," I rubbed my temples. Before another one of us could speak, a voice filled the room.
"Uh, if everyone could gather, please," It was Elijah addressing the company, and as I assessed him my heart grew heavy. Why did he have to be so beautiful?
All the Originals were standing on the staircase – they were a gorgeous family – as Elijah continued addressing us.
"Welcome, thank you for joining us. You know, whenever my mother brings our family together like this, it's tradition for us to commence the evening with a dance," I held onto his every word and was hardly bothered by Esther coming down the stairs and the Salvatores pointing her out to one another. Suddenly, Elijah's brown eyes found mine and I felt my breath catch in my throat. "Tonight's pick is a centuries-old waltz, so if all of you could please find yourselves a partner, please join us in the ballroom." It's like he was only speaking to me at that last part. He stared straight down at me with intense eyes.
The spell was broken by overlapping conversations but I did notice Esther retreating silently back upstairs. I wasn't sure what to do so I stood there until Klaus found me.
"May I have this dance?" He asked which I nodded to as I was unable to find my voice. He led me to the ballroom and we began dancing along with the music and other couples.
"I'm glad you came," He said after a moment of us just staring at one another.
"Well, it was either caviar or bad hospital food with Alaric," I joked, giving him a half-hearted smile.
"I heard about his attack."
"Yeah, but he's okay now. He'd probably freak out if he saw me dancing with you; you don't have many allies in this town."
"What are side at you on then?"
"Neutral, unless my family's lives are at stake, such as Jeremy's," He gave me a look and I sighed. "Sorry, I am not trying to start something."
"I know your intentions are good."
"But I'm not sure yours are," I gave him a grin and he stared to reply, but we suddenly changed partners and I found myself in the arms of the last person I wanted. Elijah.
My breath escaped me. "Elijah." My eyes darted across his face. It had been so long since I was able to study him like this.
"Hello, Andrea," He said, his voice sending chills down my spine. I was suddenly aware of his hands on my body as we danced. "How are you?"
I scowled at him and looked away to see Klaus and Caroline dancing, a blush on her cheeks, making my scowl deepen. What the heck? Did he have a thing for blondes? "I'm fine."
"I was hoping we could speak."
"About what?"
"Andrea," It was so stern I had to look over at him.
"What?" I questioned, trying to act nonchalantly but my hand slightly tightened around his. His hand felt nice in mine, it felt right. However, I was still angry at him.
"May we speak in private?"
I stared at him a moment before looking over at Klaus and Caroline to see them watching us. "No, I want to stay here. I'm sure whatever you want to say can easily be said right here."
He stayed silent as our bodies moved across the dance floor and I couldn't bring myself to look back up at him so I settled on watching Klaus. "Andrea," He said quietly. "Look at me." When I didn't, he grabbed my chin, forcing me to look at him.
"Please, don't," I pulled back and turned away from him, though I didn't step back. "I know why you did what you did, Elijah, but that doesn't mean I'm not upset over it."
"You feel betrayed, I understand."
I looked over at him again, my heart instantly going crazy in my chest. "Elijah, I think it's deeper than that."
We danced in silence for a moment before he spoke. "I heard you had captured Niklaus's… affections," He slightly grimaced, glancing over at his brother.
"Has he told you everything? The weird connection? The dreams?"
"Yes." I exhaled, looking over at Klaus. I knew he was listening and wouldn't be surprised if Caroline was, too. "And I apologize for my father's attack on you."
My hands shook and I swallowed the bile in my throat. "I don't want to talk about that," My voice was shaking as I spoke. "But thank you. You're the first and only to. Klaus won't even apologize for my near death."
"Of course," His thumb ran circles on the top of my hand. He was obviously trying to soothe me. I looked at his hand in mine, my breath going away slowly. As I looked back up at him, my chest tightened and I knew that, despite my better judgement, I had forgiven him in that moment.
"Mind if I steal her away, brother?" Klaus asked, walking over. I hadn't even realized the dance was over.
I turned away and darted, seriously needing some fresh air. As I stood outside, all I could picture was Emmeline's face twisted in anger. She frightened me a bit, I had to admit. She would be freaking out over me being here with Klaus and being around the Mikaelsons in general. Why did she care what happened to me so much? Katherine didn't give a shit about Elena, and Emmeline didn't seem to care much for Elena either, but she fought for me. The thought was nice, honestly, after being ignored for so long.
"I thought Nik and Elijah would never leave you alone."
I jumped at Kol's voice, not noticing he had snuck up on me. "Kol, you almost gave me a heart attack… Can I help you?"
"Oh, just your lovely company for a while will be sufficient enough for now," He walked to my side and we stared up at the moon together.
"You're a lot like your brother, you realize that, right?" I smiled over at him.
"Or is he like me?"
"Touché," I laughed then a silence fell over us. What was I supposed to say? I barely knew him but I did know him in a way. I'd seen his interactions with Anastasia, so I had to be able to come up with something. "So how is it adjusting to the twenty-first century?"
"I'm a quick learner," He winked at me.
There was no way that I was attracted to him, but I found him so adorable for some reason; his air and personality reminded me strongly of Zak, the guy at the record store I went to. "Tell me, did the girls in the nineteenth century enjoy this banter?" I questioned.
"Thoroughly."
I shook my head with a grin. "You're a mess, Kol."
"Would you like to put me back together?" That smirk returned and I couldn't help but laugh. I'd give him a point for being witty.
Something told me that Kol and I could have a great friendship with one another. Yes, there might be semi-flirtations but that would be as far as it reached; I was not about to turn into an Original groupie. Plus, I could tell Kol wasn't that type to get emotionally involved with anything even if he was involved with them physically.
"Kol," Klaus semi-growled as he approached.
"And here, it seems, the fun must end," Kol let out a small sigh.
"Rebekah's looking for you, brother, perhaps you should go see what our baby sister needs," Klaus, acting very possessive, put his body in front of mine.
"We will continue this later," Kol said to me.
"No you will not."
"Stop speaking for this lovely lady, Nik," He clapped Klaus's shoulder before he started backing away. "She just might decide to run off and leave you." Kol winked at me again before disappearing.
"Ignore him," Klaus instantly said. "I find it quite effective in reducing a headache."
"I like him, though, he's sweet in his in his own way," I smiled. "So what can I help you with, Mister Mikaelson?"
"I came to retrieve you for the toast," He held out his arm. "Shall we?"
I rolled my eyes as I placed my hand in the crook of his elbow. "I'm a skilled fighter, Klaus, I don't think I need an escort."
"But it doesn't hurt to have one, especially if you can protect him from your parental guardian," He smiled down at me as we headed back towards the mansion.
"I'm eighteen, I have no parental guardian," I pointed out then I became all mock serious. Exhaling, I looked down. "So I thinking about your curiosity speech in Portland."
"And?"
"I realize you tried to Sparrow me." We burst into laughter and I could have sworn he moved closer to me.
"Yes, well, I did enjoy the movie. I figured, with your apparent knowledge of movies, you'd catch onto that quickly," He said as we entered the mansion, but we continued walking around the room where the guests were.
"I'm surprised, too," I admitted. "Especially since I swore I would marry Jack Sparrow."
"Really? And why is that?"
"One reason being because he's Johnny Depp. Another reason being he's a pirate," I turned excitedly toward him. "That's what I wanted to be if I didn't end up being an artist. I mean, booze, treasure, a few select beautiful pirates like Will Turner sounds pretty amazing to me."
"Well, I've ensured you are to not have any booze tonight," He revealed.
I wasn't sure whether I should be angry or grateful. "Why?"
"I saw you at Homecoming with your buzz. You are supposed to be clean, no alcohol. I prefer you sober," He glanced around the party. "After the toast I was hoping we could go somewhere private."
I raised an eyebrow at him. "Just because you get a pretty dress for me―"
"That's not what I was implying," Did I see a slight blush on his cheeks? "I just wanted to speak."
"About what?"
"I just wanted to talk, I… enjoy your company."
The smile he gave was just too cute. His smile was too perfect, actually. "Fine, but if you do try something, I'll get Alaric to come after you," I warned with a wink.
"We wouldn't want that," We smiled at one another and I nudged him playfully. I glanced around to see Elijah and Elena talking intensely.
"Is it bad I'm jealous?" I asked as I watched them.
"No, I feel the same way when you're with him," I looked back at him to see he was dead serious. I started to comment on it but crystal rang out through the room and our attention was turned to Esther on the stairs.
"Good evening, ladies and gentleman," She glanced around the room. "Waiters are coming around with champagne. I invite you all to join me in raising a glass."
"She scares me," I murmured to Klaus as he handed me a glass that was liked like champagne. "I thought no booze?"
"Yours is sparkling white grape juice." Grinning, I looked back to Esther.
"It provides me with no greater joy then to see my family back together as one. I'd like to thank you all for being part of this spectacular evening. Cheers!" She finished her toast.
"Cheers!" Everyone said.
"Cheers," Klaus said and we clinked our glasses together. He finished his champagne off before excusing himself.
"You two seem comfy together," Stefan said as walked up to me. "I figured you would be following Elijah like a lost puppy."
"Funny, I thought the same about you and Elena," I shot back.
"Just don't get to close to him." Stefan stated, looking at Klaus with a hard expression.
"Why? You got pretty chummy with him in the twenties."
"For a smart girl, you're stupid."
I looked over at Elijah to see him watching me. "I was thinking the same thing," I looked back over to Stefan. "Have a good night, Stefan. Try not to kill anyone too important." I turned on my heel and headed for the exit, ready to get out of here. I know Klaus wanted to speak with me, but at this point I needed to get home. As I grabbed my things, Elijah walked over to me.
"My mother wanted to speak with you, but it seems you have somewhere to be," He said.
I turned toward him. "I just think it's time to call it a night, but it was entertaining to some extent. You know, the usual of being controlled by every man that walks into my life."
He nodded with a grimace. "May I walk you out?"
"I don't know if that's a good idea." I said before I started heading to the door. My last conversation with him that was before the sacrifice ran through my head.
"But, Elijah, my family—"
"Trust me, Andrea," He interrupted. "They will be fine. Klaus will be out of your life and your family's by dawn. I will see you then."
"I'm counting on it," I said as I hugged him tightly.
Even then, he had lied; Elena had survived, but Jenna and John were dead. I couldn't make myself feel the anger again, though. I quickly faced toward him. "I forgive you, Elijah."
"Thank you."
I exhaled, looking down. "Well, are you going to walk me to my car or not?"
He smiled and almost responded, but we were distracted by a crashing noise outside. We ran out in enough time to see Damon snap Kol's neck. Evidently, the rest of the Mikaelsons, Stefan, and Elena has heard it as well because they all ran out with us.
"Damon! Are you crazy?!" Stefan demanded as he walked toward his brother. I saw a hurt and crazy look in Damon's eyes. No doubt Elena had said something to him that set him off as usual. He needed to get his shit under control.
"Maybe a little," He said before looking at Elena. "Far be it for me to cause a problem." He started walking off.
I turned to Elena, now angry as well. "Must you always set him off? Now he's probably going to murder a small village and it's not going to be of animals! Don't worry, I've got damage control, though, you don't need to go apologize. Thanks for the offer, Elena!" I glanced at Elijah and Klaus, giving them looks before chasing after Damon.
"Andy!" Elena called after me but I ignored her.
I could hardly catch up to him. He was a fast walker, but why didn't he just run off already? Maybe his car was here. "Damon, slow down, I'm in heels!"
"Leave me alone, Andy," He snapped.
"I'm not going to leave you alone, but I'm also not going to treat you like you are a kid," I managed to get in front of him and pushed him, though it did nothing. "Hey, talk to me. What happened? What did she do? We used to be best friends, I know you like the back of my hand. Just tell me. You know I'm the one person who doesn't judge you... unless you compel me."
"Why don't you run back to your boyfriends?" He tried going past me but I blocked his path.
"Fine, shut me out. Have fun with whichever girl you sleep with," I stormed past him without another girl. Like I said, I knew him like the back of my hand which meant him sleeping with was imminent.
I got back to mansion to see Klaus and Elijah were both waiting at the front door but everyone else was gone. As I neared them, I inspected them both very closely; they seemed tense as if they had argued and weren't facing each another.
"How is Kol?" I asked as I neared.
"He will have a sore neck for a minute or two after he wakes, but he will be fine," Elijah answered.
"Give him my sympathy and apology," I frowned, looking at the parking lot to see Elena watching us with Stefan by her side. "I keep on thinking that I'll have a fun, drama-free night, but the world just seems to love proving me wrong time and time again."
"I believe that's in the job description of the doppelganger," Klaus said, which drew a weary smile from me.
"Knew I should've picked a werewolf," I joked which drew a smile from the both of them. "I think it's time for my departure, gentlemen, but I had fun."
Klaus stepped forward. "May I escort you to your vehicle?"
I shook my head. "I'm a big girl, Klaus, I'm no longer scared of the Bogey-man. Besides, Elijah offered already and I told him he could..."
I saw the jealousy flash through Klaus's eyes. He grabbed my hand and placed a kiss on it. "Goodnight, Andy,"
"Goodnight, Nikki," I felt something small stir in me, nothing near to what Elijah's touch did to me, but there was still that small spark there that I didn't experience until this moment.
I looked away from his eyes to Elijah's. "Well?" I prompted. Elijah tore his eyes away from his brother and moved them over to me. We began walking towards my car and I noted that Stefan and Elena were still watching from their car.
"I… I missed you, Elijah." I admitted to him finally as we neared my car. I wrapped my arms over my chest and let out a shudder. "It hasn't been the same without you… even if we don't know each other very well."
Elijah turned to me with that small smile of his. "We have some time to fix that."
"That we do." I gave a smile back to him. We gazed at each other for a long moment and I suspected he was going to kiss me… Until he leaned down and placed a kiss on my forehead.
"Goodnight, Andrea, and please be careful."
I looked up at him for another moment, debating whether or not I wanted to kiss him… I noticed Klaus was watching us from the porch still and my desire to kiss Elijah dissipated. I turned away from Elijah and climbed into my cars, wondering what I had gotten myself into with the Mikaelson family.
