Oneshot Thirty-Two
Daedalus
Professor Agasa could not help but feel pride stir within him whenever he saw Conan-kun use his inventions to great success. For so long his talent had been passed off as an old man's curious tinkering, never working out right. A sense of bliss accompanied the acknowledgement of his creative ability.
Was this how the great inventor Daedalus felt, having designed the intricate labyrinth that kept captive the Minotaur, and later the wings with which he and his son had fled Crete?
Chuckling, Agasa smiled at the thought, though he allowed himself to wonder if perhaps his deeds would become renowned one day. He was an old man, but there were many years yet left to him.
And if he was Daedalus, did that make Shinichi-kun the boy who dared to fly on wings of wax, Icarus?
He dismissed this comparison a moment later with a shake of his head. No matter how many times Shinichi-kun fell, he would emerge from the sea and force his way back up.
The professor only hoped that the headstrong youth would not be broken from the descent, one of these days. Agasa would rather see him reach the sun.
With that in mind, he set himself back on task concerning his newest invention. Daedalus' first wings may have failed Icarus, but the underappreciated inventor would continue giving his own charge the means to overcome his shortfalls.
A/N: I was soldering and had this idea while doing so. Ended up forgetting what I was doing and burnt my fingers as a result. :P
