Chapter 5: Introductions:

The Hare led Autumn into the palace, even as he waited quite a bit for her to stop turning in circles so that she could take everything in with her wide brown eyes. Everything was large, and beautiful, and pure white.

Eventually they reached a large white room with people gathered in it. The Hare led Autumn through the room, introducing anyone he felt was important. The two who stood out the most to the teen were the Mad Hatter and the White Queen. She met the Queen first, and she seemed kind and graceful. A good person.

The Mad Hatter was very different. He immediately struck a chord within her as strange, and that made her curious. Does he ever feel judged? Inadequate? He didn't seem like it. He was very confident and exuberant.

That's who I want to be. Different, in a good way. Autumn conveniently forgot that half of what he said made no sense to her whatsoever.

The White Queen offered her a room in the castle until she got on her feet, and Autumn gratefully accepted. "We can speak later." the queen told her apologetically, for she had urgent matters to attend to. Autumn nodded in acknowledgment before following a maid to her room. She threw herself on the bed and sighed, staring longingly out the window. So far, so...good?
