Chapter 6: Help?
Autumn awoke in the late morning to find clothes laid out for her and a maid just coming in to check on her.
"You're awake." The maid curtsied.
"Yes…I guess I am. What time is it?"
"Just before noon, m'lady."
"I'm no lady. What's your name?"
When the maid didn't reply, Autumn kept trying. "I'm Autumn."
Still no reply. Then, "You're a…man?"
"No! That's not what I meant! I'm female, just not a lady. I'm not a noble or royalty or anything." Autumn clarified quickly, nervous giggles shaking her chest.
"The Queen treats you as one fair enough, so I figure I will, too."
Autumn gave up. "Can you at least tell me your name?"
"I'm Kirana."
"Nice to meet you." Autumn swung her legs out of bed and reached for the wardrobe. Kirana moved to help her, but Autumn waved her off. "I can dress myself, thanks."
"Back home maybe, but I daresay your clothes are a bit different than ours." Kirana replied shyly, a bit bolder than before.
"Good point." Autumn grinned. "In that case, I'd appreciate the help."
