It has been a LONG time. But I am back. I had a rough summer, but I just received a Windows 8 tablet with a keyboard so I have more time to post and write. As I've said before, the story is completed in my notebook, I just need to transfer it to my tablet. But now, I present to you Chapter Six: The Overdue Explanation! Enjoy!
"It cannot be, no!" the now widowed Mrs. Scowly shouted. "YOU!" she shrieked at Jennifer. "It's your fault Arthur's dead, and now you'll pay for it! Avada-"But Mrs. Scowly couldn't finish her curse, as she was blown back into a wall by Mrs. Reynolds, who wore a grieving look on her face. Jennifer looked up from her mother to Mrs. Reynolds saying with tears in her eyes, "Is she, you know, gone?" Mrs. Reynolds responded back with a small smile saying, "No my dear, I didn't kill her, merely stunned really. But you, Jennifer, deserve an explanation, and the best person to deliver that overdue explanation would be the Headmistress." She gestured towards Professor McGonagall. "Yes, Jennifer," the Headmistress responded. "Follow me."
Jennifer was nervous.
Not just about what the content of the information she was about to receive was, but also about her parents: one dead and one stunned. She was seated in the Headmistress's office, waiting to listen to the explanation she was dying to hear. Professor McGonagall walked back elegantly to her desk with Mrs. Reynolds taking a seat beside Jennifer. The servant was about to speak when Professor McGonagall raised her hand, magically silencing her.
The Headmistress started by saying, "Well Jennifer, you have had an intense hour I presume? Obviously you have, with finding out your mother is a Dark wizard, the sad passing of your dear father. I would even go to say that coming here was a lot to put on your shoulders. But to get to the point, you're wondering about the significance of what just happened. Well, we cannot begin without mentioning two people who have much to do with what just occurred, Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter.
"See, what your father did for you those mere moments ago was give you a powerful protection that cannot be broken unless two things happen: your mother takes your blood, or you die. But as your mother probably cannot do that, you're safe that way. However, we do have a problem on our hands. Your mother will stop at nothing to bring about your death, as she blames you for the murder of your (well, now adopted) father. Anyhow, I would like to further explain your newfound protection, and I cannot start this without mentioning the first person with it, Harry Potter.
"The young infant at the time was targeted by the most corrupt, malevolent Dark wizard in the country, Lord Voldemort." Mrs. Reynolds gave a slight shriek at the name, much to Professor McGonagall's annoyance. "He did this based on a prophecy given to him by Seer predicting his downfall. But after he left dear Harry fatherless, the boy's mother stepped in between them, begging for her child's life. However, the Dark wizard was incapable of mercy and killed the young witch. But right when Voldemort cast the Killing Curse, the curse rebounded on him, destroying him and leaving the boy with three things: no parents, a terrible scar, and a powerful protection. The Dark Lord (as his followers called him) however came back when Harry was 14, starting The Second Wizarding War and causing trouble among the whole world. Lord Voldemort was eventually killed by Harry Potter, and we were given an age of peace."
Professor McGonagall took a deep breath and waited for a response from Jennifer, who gave the impression that she herself was just struck with a Shock Spell. It's all too much, thought Jennifer. I should just run away and never return, avoid all of this rubbish they call magic. But almost as if she read her mind, Professor McGonagall responded by saying, "Running away would not be advisable, as Hogwarts is protected by some of the oldest forms of magic known to man. Unless you prefer a painful and tragic death, it would be better to remain where you are." The Headmistress took a deep breath and continued,
"Now, what kept young Harry alive was his mother's death, or rather the cause of it. You see, Lily Potter died for Harry that night in Godric's Hollow out of love, thereby giving Harry an ancient and powerful protection that prevented Voldemort from even touching him, let alone hurting him. However, when the Dark Lord came back with a new body, he took, forcefully using Harry's blood, the protection for Harry. He then could touch him, which led to the result of hurting Harry. But that didn't matter in the end, as Voldemort is dead. But the protection has been forged between you and your-"
But Professor McGonagall didn't get to finish what she was saying, as Mrs. Reynolds cut off her with a gasp, exclaiming, "But Minerva, Guinevere did just that. When Guinevere brought home Jennifer, she made a small cut on herself and Jennifer, transferring blood. At the time, I thought it was just a Muggle version of the whole Pure-blood debate, making sure they have a pure bloodline." Professor McGonagall responded gently by saying, "Well then Agatha, it seems as though we have a major problem on our hands."
Chapter Seven: The Lestrange Child. That's the title, so speculate and enjoy! I hope to update on a weekly basis, but if not then biweekly. Also, I am working on a completely original story titled, "The Climaxers"! Early stages right now, but I hope to have it finished by February-March of 2014. So, I leave you with this!
