Jack awoke to find black hairs waving in his face.
…black hairs….
Jack felt his body cry out in protest as he bolted upright, his fingers groping at his head and clothes. It should be over! He had watched the other one disappear, it was over….right? Then a new thought popped in his mind: Jamie. He jumped up quickly, his body swaying slightly as it once again protested at his sudden movement. Looking around, he realized he was in his room at Santoff Clausen.
"Woah!" Tooth said as she fluttered over to him.
"But-"Jack started.
"But nothing." Tooth chided. "I'm glad you're awake, but you have to rest." Jack fingered his hair. "Don't worry about that. It's white again, it's just the ends that are black." She told him. Jack hadn't seen his reflection yet, but he believed Tooth.
He was relieved to find out that he was fine as well. But thoughts of Jamie still plagued his mind. He remembered what had happened to him, hitting him on the head, the frostbite eating at his fingers. "What about Jamie? Is he okay?" he asked. Tooth simply lowered her head. "Tooth?" he asked. "Tooth, answer me!" he began to attempt to shake answers out of the petite fairy. "What happened to Jamie?" the boy's shaking was getting more and more forceful and Tooth was getting scared. Suddenly a furry hand was pushed between the two.
"Hey!" Bunny's Australian accent rang out in the large room. "Calm down, Frostbite!" Bunny said as he pushed Jack back down on the bed.
"But-" Jack started for the second time that day.
"I know." Bunny said. He sat down next to the confused winter spirit. "Jamie…." Bunny paused, taking a deep breath before continuing. "He- he died from severe head injury on the way to the hospital." Bunny said. He was prepared to comfort the winter spirit. But he wasn't prepared for what Jack did next.
Jack jumped up, not believing a word the pooka said. "No, Jamie can't be dead!" he shouted, ignoring the voice in his head that told him it was a possibility. Refusing to look at the pictures in his mind of the unconscious twelve year old slumped over in the snow. Ignoring the flashing pictures of the red snow, the image of the blood pouring from the wound. The snow tainted from the wound he inflicted. Blocking out the feeling of the sticky, hot blood of his first believer staining his hoodie. And most of all, ignoring the voice in his head yelling at him that it was his fault. For all he knew, he handed Claude a dead kid. Jack shook his head.
Jack began to struggle against Bunny's giant paw. But he was still on the weak side. Bunny's paw was just close enough. An idea began to form in Jack's mind. Jack raised his head and bit Bunny's paw with as much strength as he could manage. Bunny yelped and his paw was moved. Jack took the two seconds of freedom to fly out the window. There's no way Jamie is dead. He thought.
A short time later, Jack found himself once again over Burgess, Pennsylvania. Jack was headed towards the Bennet house, but the wind pulled him towards the Burgess cemetery. Did everyone know of the accident? Did everyone know of Jamie's fate? Jack gave into the wind's demand and went to the graveyard. When he got there, Pippa was standing at a small grave. As he flew closer he heard what she had to say.
"You're so stupid Jamie Bennet!" Pippa cried as she hit the ground. "You just had to help Jack! Is that it?" she cried out. There were tear tracks staining her face, and more tears still pouring from her green eyes. "I always said your kindness would be the death of you, Jamie. Just never thought it would be true." The girl then got up and left.
Jack looked back at the grave and saw a small bundle of flowers. Jack could barely force himself to lift his blue eyes to look at the granite stone before. There in beautiful print was the very thing some false hope had implanted in his brain that wouldn't be there.

Jack stepped back from the grave in shock. He's dead, he really was dead. He knees gave out and he fell. His body began to shake with sobs as the realization finally began to sink in, causing his heart to wrench in sadness and grief.
The tears were leaving salty tracks on his face. He stayed like that, for what seemed like forever. But he had to leave soon, the others would be worried. Anyone could've passed by that night and seen the ice rose he left for his best friend.
''Jack wake up!'' he was in his bed at North's, the sun was setting. Had he slept all day? ''Meeting.'' North told him. That meeting was like no other. Like Tooth had said that first night, they came back...differant. Jack was only in that state for a week, he had changed. At the meeting, Bunny's and Jack usual banter went on as normal, but it was Jack who ended up lashing out. He told him 'to shut his fucking mouth and to stop the damned insults.' Bunny and thr rest of thr gaurdians took a step back. They were surprised at Jack's words. Jack included. Those words came out his mouth again. Jack stumbled from the shock. Jack always had the personal reminder of it all. Everytime he looked in the mirror, he saw his white hair with the ends that seemed to Be dipped in black. He saw the gold flecks in his blue eyes. Now theres this. He can't stay awake in the day like some kind of vampire and he just cussed out Bunny. He looked at everyone and flew out the window.
Don't worry, he'll come back...I plan on writing a sequel, can you tell what you think of said idea?
Now is the time I have to get all teary eyed and say my thank yous.
