A/N: Sorry for the delay. I've been focused on writing, but have been working on my novel. I feel like I have neglected this work and returned to it in the past few days. Don't worry, the story is still strong. I just felt the need to work on my long forgotten novel that has been simmering for months. Well, actually, since I started this work. I hope you enjoy this chapter and I will plan on having another chapter up soon for you all. I want to put up a chapter a week until it comes to its conclusion. As always thanks for the reviews, they are much appreciated. Thanks for sticking with me. The end is near, I promise.
Chapter Forty-One - Trigger
"Now, Liv, we came back here so we could focus. I need you to come back to me. I need you to focus on the case. I need you tell me what happened to you in Montgomery."
"I need to get to Alex, before they do," Liv answered.
"Olivia, sit down!" Huang commanded.
"George, I don't have time for this. I have to get back to Montgomery. I have to save Alex."
"Olivia, sit down!"
"George, either help me or get out of the way!"
"Don't make me cuff you to that chair, Liv."
"Damn it, George!"
"Listen to me. Talk to me. Tell me what I need to know, so I can let Alex know."
"I can't. I need to get to her, before they do. I can't tell you there isn't time. They'll kill her as soon as they see her. They'll know who she is to me as soon as they see her," Liv told him.
"Liv, calm down. Speak plainly. I understand that you are freaking out here, but I need you to stay with me. I know that you saw something that photograph. I need you to stay Olivia right now. I need you to fight Julie right now. "
"GAH!" Liv screamed throwing a chair across the room. "I don't have time for this. Either you help me get back or get out of my way. I have my own ways of doing things. I can do this with or without you."
"Olivia, sit down. I need you to stay calm. If you can't stay calm, I'll give you something to get you calm. Now, sit down and tell me who the other woman is in the picture."
"It is Amy Felder."
"Who is Amy Felder?"
"She was one of the Goldings' girls."
"Care to elaborate on that for me?" George asked.
"She did both D. J. and Robin."
"Seriously?"
"Seriously. She was what some of the gang called a 'dabbler.' She liked to play them against each other to get what she wanted. She knew that Frankie was Robin's once. She made a pass at her when she was with me."
"That doesn't sound like it ended well," Huang replied.
"It didn't for any of us," Liv stated.
"What happened?"
"I was in Montgomery with Frankie. We were staying with Mara. She was clueing me into her notes and what they meant. She was helping me build the case, because she knew she could trust me. Mara introduced us. There was just something about her that I didn't like."
"She made you uncomfortable?"
"You could say that."
"Tell me what she did."
"She hit on Frankie…in front of me. Made some comment to her about me preferring blonds with a slight accent. It didn't make sense to me then. It does now."
"How so?" George asked.
"She knew me somehow. She'd made me. She had to be the reason that Robin waited for me that day. Amy was following me and Frankie around Montgomery. I didn't think about it until we went back to the brothel. It didn't make sense."
"Okay, so we need to find her."
"She is reason that everyone is dead," Liv stated, sitting down and slumping.
"She might be, but we need to find her first. Is there anywhere you can think of that she might go? Is there some other safe house that D. J. and Robin used?"
"I don't know. I can't remember. Probably, but if there were, I never used it."
"Liv, think about it. There has to be something that you remember. Anything at all?"
"She is tall, like me. I'd say around five nine and hundred fifty pounds. She was creepy. It was like she was being fed information. I couldn't find the link though. There was someone who was telling her things. She just said things around me, things that she shouldn't know, things that only someone close to the investigation would know. I couldn't figure it out."
"Did you ever tell Ike or Russell?"
"I never got the chance. It was shortly after we got back to Atlanta that we went to Tennessee for another doctor's appointment. By the time we got back, Robin put her torturous plan into action. I never got…the…chance," Liv stated as she started to cry.
"It wasn't your fault."
"I have to get to Alex. If Amy gets to her…I'll…never be able… We have to get Alex out of there. She is in danger!"
"I'll call Abbie and alert her. I promise that she'll be back before anything can happen to her. Now, we need you to calm down and be Olivia. I don't need you turning into Julie and running off half-cocked."
"But, Amy could be-"
"I'll let Dana know about her. I am sure that they will find her and the connection. Right now, we have to get you to be you again."
"George!"
"Olivia!"
"Fine. I'm calm. Now, what?" she asked.
"You are not calm."
"You're right, I'm not calm. I won't be calm until I have Alex back beside me. I won't be calm until I know that she is okay. I won't be calm until this is all over and I can go home."
"I know that. I understand that. But, Liv, you saw that picture of Amy and it triggered Julie. Why did Julie come out there? What is it about that picture? What happened, Liv?" he asked.
"She just reminded me of someone. I can't place it. There was something about her."
George watched her. She was a woman in conflict. Her head was spinning in all directions and she couldn't put her finger on it. He just sat letting her mind work in the quiet. When she didn't say anything more after a few minutes, he handed her a copy of the picture. She took it quickly from him and stared at it.
"What is it?"
"That is me, well my hand is there, and Frankie. That is Robin. That is Mara and Rebecca. This is Amy," Liv told him.
"What was going on then? Can you tell me what was going on? Why was this picture taken?"
"I don't remember. It was some sort of office party photo or the like that you can have being in gang. Amy had just shown up. Mara didn't seem too pleased with her. I don't know why. I can't be sure, but I think that Mara was scared of her, too."
"Explain that to me."
"I think that she ran into her before. She seemed weary of her. Something was just off about her. Mara and Rebecca didn't like her being around."
"How could you tell?"
"It was the way they acted when she was around. This picture was taken the first time that I met her. I had never seen her in Atlanta, so I had no clue who she was. Robin was the one that introduced us. Robin made sure to smear me about my relationship with Frankie. Actually, she seemed surprised that Frankie and I were together."
"Surprised how?" George questioned.
"Like she couldn't believe that Robin allowed it happen and that I was the one that was with her. She kept watching me. She asked me how we met many times. She kept looking to Robin for corroboration when it came to me, Frankie and our relationship. It was like she was vetting me for the gang, but it was deeper than that," Liv told him.
"You think that Robin had her checking you out?"
"I don't think that it was Robin. But, I do think that Robin was the first person that she told when she figured out that I wasn't really Julie Seabrook. How else could Robin have known?"
"I don't know, Liv, but we'll figure it out, together," he told her.
Olivia stayed in his office. She held the mug of coffee in her hands, sniffing the brew. She let the smell comfort her when nothing else about the situation was. She didn't drink it; she just kept sniffing the coffee.
George went to Dana a few minutes earlier to run a history on Amy Felder. He had only been gone for twenty minutes when he came back. He didn't look happy when he re-entered the office. He sat down at his desk and watched Olivia.
Liv looked up at him, still holding the coffee mug. She gave him a worried look. She watched him as he put the file on his desk. She reached across to take it, but he kept it from her. She gave him a questioning look, but didn't say anything or try to take it by force.
"Amy Felder is a pseudonym. It isn't her true name. She has been charged with murder, trafficking, countless assaults and other numerous violent crimes. She is currently wanted in five states for murder and drug charges. She is being hunted by the FBI, DEA and ATF."
"Okay, what does that have to do with my trigger?"
"She is one of the many triggers. She knew who you were because she was arrested in New York four years ago for an assault. She must have seen you in the papers or on TV. She knew who you were as soon as she saw you."
"So she tipped off the Goldings?" Liv asked.
"Doesn't look like. She has someone do some digging for you. She wanted to make sure that you were really you. She had to make sure before she made you to Robin or D. J. She knew that if she couldn't make it be you and prove it, she would lose her standing with them."
"She needed to prove I was a narc?"
"Yeah, she did. She knew that Robin would kill her if she lied to her. But, Amy changed her name, too. She needed to hide as well, but she was hiding her identity from the cops. It looks like she had some help from someone on the inside," George told her.
"Who?!"
"Looks like it was from a local FBI agent," he stated.
"Special Agent Rock Griswald."
"We have to get Alex out of there now!" Liv screamed, jumping up and running for the door.
"She's fine."
"How can you be sure?" Liv asked, calming slightly.
"Because I called Abbie as soon as I found out. They are already on a plane here. Griswald is in custody in Montgomery. Alex is safe. She's fine."
"That's good. I am glad that she is out of there and coming home. I was getting really worried about her being there…alone…without me."
"She wasn't alone, Liv. Abbie was there with her. They found out a lot of good information from Mara's intel and…from your relapse. I think it actually tipped off Rock that we were coming after him. Abbie was smart enough to give him some information though to keep him off of our tracks and to let him think that he was still part of the investigation."
"Then, they listened to what I told them," Liv stated.
"Abbie said that you told her that something was wrong with him, but you couldn't place it. Alex said she felt it, too. Abbie wasn't going to go against either of your guts. She knows better and trusts them both. They've won a lot of cases," George told her, smiling.
"That they have."
"Olivia, we've made a lot of head way with the case. Mara and Rebecca will get their justice now. You've seen to that. We've got Rock. We've got Robin, D. J. and even Monique in custody. Frankie would be proud of the work you are doing, but we have to work on you, now."
"Me? I'm fine. I'll be fine. As long as I have Alex, I'll be fine."
"But, Liv, we still have to deal with your trigger," George told her as she returned to the couch.
"No, you don't. I do. And, I think I know how," Liv told him, flashing him an evil grin.
