Chapter 53-The Computer

It was just another day for Gordon, as the grey wolf was doing some errands at the local grocery store, intending to pick up a few items for the house and be on his way.

'Now let me see here…' Gordon started to think, all the while wheeling the shopping kart. 'I just need to pick up some milk, some eggs and-'

In the midst of these thoughts, Gordon's cart accidentally bumped into another, startling the grey wolf in the process. Upon looking at the front, Gordon noticed a certain large, pink bunny right in front of him, much to his relief.

"Hi Richard, it's good to see you. I didn't expect to bump into you in the same place."

"Oh hi, Gordon!" Richard greeted back. "I didn't expect you here either. Let me guess, grocery shopping?"

"What tipped you off?" Gordon jokingly asked, before the two adults started laughing. "Anyway, how are things going for you and work?"

"Well, everything's turning out good at home, Gordon." Richard replied, before looking down on the ground rather gloomily. "As for my work…"

The moment Richard trailed off in his sentence, Gordon raised an eyebrow in curiosity.

"Something happen?"

Realizing that the grey wolf knew what was up, the large pink bunny could only take a deep breath, before answering Gordon's question.

"You see, it all began a while back…"

Five minutes later…

"…And ever since then, I've been trying to look for a job to provide for my family."

As soon as Richard was done with his speech, Gordon looked at the large pink bunny with sympathy. From what he had heard so far, Richard's attempt to get a job ended on a disastrous note and both times, he ended up getting fired from his jobs, due to a combination of bad luck, inexperience and questionable morals.

"I'm sorry to hear that, Richard." Gordon sympathized with the large, pink bunny.

"Well, what can I do? I tried everything just to hold down a job." Richard commented.

"Maybe you haven't tried everything." said Gordon, as the grey wolf rubbed his chin with serious intent.

"What do you mean by that?" asked Richard, arching his eyebrow rather suspiciously.

In response, the grey wolf whispered to the large, pink bunny's ear. After about a minute or so, Richard looked at Gordon, his eyes widening with surprise by the wolf's suggestion.

"Are you serious, Gordon?!"

"Of course I am, Richard." the grey wolf replied. "I have always needed some assistance in my job and I think you match up perfectly for it."

"I don't know, Gordon…" Richard spoke with uncertainty. "I don't have any work experience with computer science, let alone having a degree in it."

"Don't worry about that Richard, just give it a shot and see if this kind of job suits you." Gordon assured his friend, prompting Richard to ponder for a moment, regarding the wolf's offer.

The next day, Richard and Gordon found themselves standing in front of the local computer shop right in front of them. After accepting the grey wolf's offer, Richard had to wake up much earlier, get dressed and quickly drive to the computer shop. Before doing so, however, the large, pink bunny had to write a written note, claiming that he would be at the gym all day, in the hopes that he would prevent Nicole from becoming too suspicious about his behavior. Right now, though, Richard just wanted to get through the day.

"Are you ready for your first day of work?" Gordon asked his friend.

"To be honest, I'm quite nervous about this." Richard admitted.

"Don't worry about it, Richard. Just follow my instructions and everything will turn out fine." the grey wolf assured his friend.

Despite Gordon's assurance, Richard remained rather hesitant, not wanting to screw up and get both himself and the grey wolf fired. At the same time, though, he needed to pull himself together and get through the day. After all, Gordon gave him a chance and he didn't plan on squandering it anytime soon.

With confidence in himself, both Richard and Gordon made their way to the computer shop, just as Larry spotted them.

"Well, looks like you're on time Gordon." the rock humanoid greeted, before he noticed a certain large, pink bunny right next to him. "Is this guy bothering you for something?"

"Don't worry about it, Larry…" Gordon began. "Richard is going to work here as my assistant today and-"

Without warning, Larry suddenly panicked, as he ran around the store, screaming in terror, before he quickly went through the door, leaving just Gordon and Richard alone at the shop.

"What was that about?" asked a dumbfounded Gordon

"Beats me, Gordon." Richard replied. "Normally, he would just look at either me or my family suspiciously."

"Well then, follow me and I'll show you to your new work station."

Richard nodded his head in agreement, as he followed the grey wolf to what appeared to be a cubicle of sorts, with the usual office items laid out in front of the large, pink bunny, from the computer to the filing cabinets, before Gordon began his explanation to his friend.

"Alright, here's what you have to do…" the grey wolf began to instruct Richard."Whenever we get a call, one of us must answer it. Should they require any assistance; we have to be there as soon as possible. From there, I'll guide you on how to correctly repair a computer. Other than that, just relax and you'll do fine."

Richard couldn't help but feel relieved, glad that he had someone like Gordon on his side.

"Anyway, let me show you how to properly fix a PC." said Gordon, as the grey wolf showed Richard a computer. "Now, here's what you have to do…"

As Gordon began his instructions, all Richard could do was listen as hard as he could, hoping to pick up a few skills along the way in the hopes of maintaining his new job.

Several hours later…

Slowly but surely, Richard learned a few things from Gordon, whether it would be certain tools used to repair a PC to debugging malware and viruses. By the time Gordon was done with his instructions, the sun was about to set. As the duo got out, ready to head back to their respective households, Gordon turned towards Richard.

"You did pretty well on your first day at work, Richard." Gordon praised his friend. "I have to say, you've impressed me."

"Well, I have you to thank for that Gordon." Richard insisted, rubbing his head sheepishly, to which Gordon smiled, before the large, pink bunny got into his car and drove off. But as Gordon was about to get into his vehicle, he noticed a fire hydrant across the street suddenly launched itself into the sky like a rocket, before exploding like fireworks, leaving the grey wolf awestruck by the sight.

"Alright, that's something you don't see every day." he muttered under his breath. "Nah, it's probably just the pipeline not working correctly, that's all."

Once Gordon dismissed what he had seen, the grey wolf got into his vehicle and drove off; not realizing that what he had seen was only just the beginning.

One week later…

During the last several days, Richard and Gordon worked together on fixing some of the most complicated tasks at hand and before long, the large, pink bunny managed to repair them with ease, thanks for the wolf's instructions. As time went on, Richard made such an improvement that the large, pink bunny was offered his own office, which left him overjoyed.

It was around the same time that Gordon noticed some rather unusual events that have kept occurring around the computer shop to the point that it had become a daily routine. First, after helping Pantsbully unfreeze his computer, the grey wolf noticed that the blue humanoid suddenly dressed up as well groomed gentleman, right down to the British accent. Then, when he and Richard helped fix a malware problem for Marvin, the elderly bean somehow transformed into a younger, healthier version, much to his confusion. Just recently, the grey wolf, for just a moment, thought that the building across him suddenly developed legs and walked right into the distance, carrying its unfortunate passengers with it.

Today was no different, as Gordon was walking down to his office when he passed by one of the monitors; as he was minding his own business, the monitor suddenly imploded and a few seconds later, it disappeared in a blink of light. By the time he sensed something was amiss, Gordon turned around and saw an empty space where the monitor should be.

"That was pretty weird." Gordon said to himself, before the grey wolf resumed heading towards his office. But when he finally opened the door to his office, he was surprised to find that not only was his room turned upside down, but he was now standing on the ceiling.

"Alright, this is definitely not normal at all." Gordon commented.

The grey wolf proceeded to shut the door to his office and out of concern for his friend, decided to check up on Richard. But when he arrived, he was baffled to find everything in his office was floating around aimlessly for no apparent reason.

"Richard, are you aware that everything in your office is floating around?" Gordon called out to the large, pink bunny, prompting him to look around for a moment, before shrugging his shoulders.

"You get used to it." Richard replied, leaving Gordon rather astonished by that last statement.

"Richard..." Gordon began. "How long has this been going on?"

The large, pink bunny pondered for a moment, before he finally gave an answer to the perplexed grey wolf.

"It started getting this bad when I turned the computer on. Before it was just my mug that decided to take off."

Gordon could only look at Richard, unable to understand his friend's statement. But as he tried to figure out what was going on around the computer, he remained unaware of what was occurring all over town.

It was just a typical day at the O'Quinn residence, as Brian was in his bedroom, drawing another sketch on the desk. But in the middle of his sketching, the lead on his pencil snapped, much to his annoyance.

'Darn it!' Brian thought, as the purple fox got up from his seat and sharpened it with the pencil sharpener. But as soon as he turned back to his desk, the drawing was nowhere to be found, much to his confusion.

"Where did it go?" he asked to himself, as he put his pencil on his desk. But when Brian looked down on the floor, he is stunned to find that somehow, the floor has now become transparent and he can see-through it.

'My eyes are probably playing tricks on me.' Brian tried to convince himself, before he looked up and much to his shock, his bed, along with the nightstand, are now up on the ceiling. Now arching an eyebrow in curiosity, he turned to see that his desk was nowhere to be found, before he suddenly realized that it was up on the ceiling as well.

Now completely horrified, Brian immediately ran to the door of his bedroom, but as soon as he exited, he felt a breeze hitting him in the face. It only took him a few seconds to realize that somehow, the purple fox was now outside of his house and in mid-air.

"What the-" was all Brian could say, before he fell down to the pavement face first.

For Rhonda, it was just another day at her house, as the mouse was playing a game of basketball on her own. As always, Rhonda concentrated as hard as she could, before she flicked her wrist and sent the ball through the hoop. But as soon as the basketball made contact with the floor, it suddenly shot up into the air, leaving the mouse completely baffled.

"What the flip?!" Rhonda shouted.

But before the mouse could make any sense of what had happened just now, Rhonda felt something hard hitting on her head, before she spotted a basketball right next to her. Curious by this, the mouse looked up and much to her dismay; dozens of basketballs were soon raining down from the sky.

'Oh no!' Rhonda thought, as she quickly dived under a bench as protection for the barrage of balls that were raining down.

At the Badgero residence, Mike got himself some chips from the kitchen cabinet and a soda can from the refrigerator, before making his way to the living room, intending to watch some of his favorite shows. But right in front of the maroon badger was a portal that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Before Mike knew what happened, the portal began to suck all of the items out of the living room, before disappearing into thin air, leaving nothing but a barren room.

"That did not just happen." Mike said breathlessly, before he calmly put down his food and drink and cautiously made his way to the front door. As soon as he opened it, the maroon badger saw his mother fighting some groceries that had suddenly gained sentience, while he witnessed his father taming an out of control fire hydrant like it was some sort of beast.

"It's official; I've just entered the Twilight Zone." Mike said to himself before sighing.

At the Watterson residence, Gumball and Darwin were playing video games, while Anais was playing with her Daisy the Donkey doll, with Nicole sipping a cup of coffee in the kitchen. But as everyone was minding their own business, the day turned rather bizarre when the console system that the Watterson brothers were playing shut down by itself.

"What the WHAT?!" Gumball angrily exclaimed.

"Don't freak out Gumball…" Darwin began. "I'm sure it'll work again."

Suddenly, the video game console became alive, pulling its controllers away from the terrified boys, as it floated in mid-air. Before the boys could do anything, Anais let out a big scream, before the child prodigy quickly joined with her brothers.

"W-what wrong, Anais?" asked Gumball.

"Daisy's alive!" Anais replied, as the Daisy the Donkey doll rose up on its own two feet and looked at the terrified siblings.

"Daisy the Donkey would like to say…TAKE YOUR LIFE AWAY!"

With that, the sentient video game console and Daisy the Donkey doll proceeded to chase Gumball, Darwin and Anais around and soon, they ran around in complete circles. Nicole, who had just witnessed the unusual phenomenon, became downright serious right away.

"Don't worry kids, I'm-" was all the older, blue feline could say, before Nicole suddenly found herself face down on the floor, as gravity was pulling her down like dead weight.

While Nicole struggled to get up, Gumball and his siblings continued to be chased around by the video game console and the Daisy the Donkey doll, both intending to kill them. After what felt like an eternity, the trio finally led the two into the backyard and tricked them into coming in the shed, before barricading the door with pretty much every single item they could find.

"That was a close one." said an exhausted Gumball, as he and siblings head back into the house.

"Tell me about it…" Darwin began. "I've never expected that to happen at all."

"What I really want to know is why this is happening in the first place." Anais wondered.

As if to answer her question, Nicole pulled her head from the ground, as she turned to her daughter, ready to give Anais her answer.

"I think I know what's going on around here."

It had been a very long day for Gordon, as the grey wolf decided to take a leave of absence, but not before Richard informed him that he's heading off for work. After seeing coffee machines taking a life of its own and fending off against malfunctioned computers, Gordon decided that home would be much better than work for the moment.

'It's going to be okay Gordon... You're just having a breakdown from working too hard.' the grey wolf thought to himself, before he parked himself at the driveway and exited his xB. But as the grey wolf opened the front door, he suddenly found not just his family in the living room, but he also found the Wattersons, Badgeros and Paxtons in the house as well, before everyone turned their gaze on him, leaving Gordon rather uncomfortable by the attention he is receiving.

"Uh... Hey everybody..." He began nervously. "What's going on?"

Without warning, Nicole suddenly grabbed Gordon by the shoulder and before long; the grey wolf found his face pressed onto the older blue feline's.

"Annie told me everything that went on since last week. Thanks to you, Richard is going to doom the world once again!"

"Whoa there Nicole, calm down for just a second…" the grey wolf began, before he pulled himself from the older, blue feline's grasp."What exactly are you talking about? Also, how is it that giving your husband a job going to doom the whole world?"

In response, Gumball made his way to a remote control on the coffee table and turned on the TV, which was airing an all-points bulletin.

"We interrupt this program for a very important announcement! Cars are suddenly flying upside down for no apparent reason…"

"I heard of light traffic, but this is ridiculous!" Mr. Robinson complained.

"…Houses are literally turning themselves inside out…"

"I just finished cleaning the entire house!" Mr. Pepperoni whined.

"…The sky is literally falling down all over town…"

"I told you the sky was falling but none of you believed me!" the Hobo gloated, before running for cover.

"…And the sun has blacked out for no reason."

"I can't see a single thing down there!" the Sun ranted.

Once the news had confirmed the unusual events that is happening around town, Gordon continued to look at the TV, clearly shocked from what he had seen. At the same time, however, everything about it made entirely sense, especially the fiasco he had experienced back at his work place.

"Alright, I'll admit that I didn't know that giving Richard a job would do such a thing. Seriously, I'm sorry about it and I didn't mean any of this to happen." Gordon apologized to everyone.

"This is why we need your help, Mr. O'Quinn." Anais insisted. "Do you have any idea where dad is at?"

In response, Gordon took a deep breath, before giving the child prodigy his answer.

"If you must know…"

Once Gordon gave his answer regarding Richard, everyone immediately got into their vehicles and drove off to the far edge of town. Thankfully for everyone, traffic was light, due to the cars floating right above them, as it took them no more than a few minutes before they finally reached their destination. Upon arrival, the entire group exited the car and saw a very large computer right in front of them. Upon further inspection, they noticed a certain large, pink bunny right next to the computer; no doubt that it was Richard, ready to fix the computer at any given moment. The path leading up to the computer had two routes that lead to it.

"I can't believe something like this even exists." said Brian.

"No kidding, Brian…" Anais began. "If dad manages to fix the super computer, he might end up dooming the entire universe!"

"We can't stand around and do nothing! We need to get to Richard right away!" Nicole insisted.

"You're right and I think it's better if we split into two groups." Gordon suggested much to everyone's surprise. "If we go together as a group, we would lose too much time. Anyway, Nicole, you'll lead Annie, Chuck, Olivia and Max to one side of town, while I'll lead the kids to the other side. At least then, one of us will make it to Richard."

Nicole, along with everyone else, nodded their heads in agreement, before the older, blue feline lead her group to one part of town, while Gordon lead his own group to the other side. But as both groups began to make their progress towards Richard, they would soon realize that their situation had gotten much more complicated.

For Richard, it was just another day at work, as the large, pink bunny prepared to fix the super computer. Just minutes ago, the large, pink bunny made several inspections, surveying the damage on the super computer. Once Richard was done inspecting, he began to repair the problem right away. In fact, he was just done fixing one of the panels.

"Good as new." Richard said to himself, as he unknowingly unleashed a wave of blue energy in the process.

Gordon led his group as fast he can, ignoring the aches and pains all over his body. There was no room to rest; right now, he needed to get to Richard and prevent him from destroying the entire universe.

"What the hay?" Gordon exclaimed, prompting everyone to stop in their tracks and saw a wave of blue energy heading right towards them. Before anyone could react, they soon found themselves engulfed by the shockwave. As soon as it passed through them, the grey wolf looked at himself and couldn't believe what the shockwave did to him, or rather her.

"Oh my goodness, what happened to me?!" Gordon, or rather Gina, shouted with a feminine voice, stunned to find out that she had become rather petite, as well as the fact that he was wearing a white shirt and black skirt.

Before the grey wolf could fathom about his sudden change, Gina heard the kids complaining about their changes, prompting her to turn around and be stunned that they have also swapped genders. Gumball was now a pink cat while Anais was now a blue rabbit and Darwin suddenly had hair, lipstick and high heels. Likewise, Brian suddenly had three longer strands of hair, with a lighter tone on her fur and wore a pink hoodie and blue shorts, while Rhonda had a boyish haircut, wore a plain white sweater, black pants and green sneakers and Mike was slightly shorter, still wearing her hoodie, but now wore khaki shorts and sandals. Needless to say, none of them were happy with the changes surrounding them.

"Aw man, I can't believe this." Anais or Arnie commented.

"Tell me about it…" Rhonda or Ron began. "Talking in such a deep voice is quite irritating."

"I hope the change isn't permanent." Darwin, or Darlene, complained. "I can't get used to having this much hair."

"Seriously, you have blonde hair?" asked Brian, or Brianna, to the pink cat.

"Seriously, you're more shocked about that than our predicament?!" Gumball or Gumballina angrily exclaimed.

"Hey Brianna, Gumballina; how about you both shut up and we keep moving before Mr. Watterson turns us into smoldering piles of ash!" Mike, or Michelle, shouted.

"Michelle's right. We need to get to Richard if we want to change reality back." Gina insisted.

Everyone agreed with one another and continued on with their progress, but not before they could have sworn they heard some chanting in the background.

Nicole couldn't believe what had happen when she led her group to their destination. One minute, a shockwave unexpectedly showed up and expecting for some reality warping changes, none of them appeared to be effected by it. The next thing they knew, computers rose up out of the ground without warning and soon, the five are forced to defend themselves.

"This is becoming ridiculous!" Max yelled, as he pummeled one computer after another.

"No kidding." Chuck commented, as he kicked another computer to the ground. "These computers are everywhere!"

As the group continued to fight on, with Nicole punching her way through and Annie karate chopping each computer in her sight, it was then that Olivia accidentally threw one computer towards another; to her surprise, the computers ended up fighting one another…wait a second! That's it!

"Guys, throw the computers against each other!" Olivia shouted.

Everyone nodded their heads and grabbed one computer in each hand, before they threw them towards the other. Before long, the computers began to attack one another and soon, the entire group was swarming towards one another, as the group looked on with astonishment.

"That was some quick thinking back there, Olivia." Annie praised the older, red badger.

"Oh, it was nothing, but thanks anyway." said Olivia, as the red badger rubbed her head sheepishly.

"Anyway, we've better get a move on." Olivia insisted, as the group resumed heading towards their destination, all the while the chanting became increasingly ominous.

"Hey, wait up for just a second!" Gumballina called out to the rest of the group. "I can't run as fast as I used to with this skirt on!"

"This is why I hate skirts." Ron spoke with amusement.

"I agree…" Arnie added. "Not's so easy now, isn't it?"

"Kids, this is no time for jokes." Gina informed the children, as the grey wolf continued to lead the kids. "Right now, we need to get to Richard before-"

Suddenly, another shockwave suddenly showed up, cutting Gina off before she can finish her sentence, prompting everyone to embrace for another reality shift. But when the wave passed through, everyone was stunned to find that they have swapped back into their original forms, much to their relief, especially Gumball.

"Oh I miss myself so much." Gumball happily said to himself, before kissing his own paws.

But their relief was short-lived, however and before everyone could react, they suddenly found themselves floating in mid-air. As they soon discovered, the shockwave has altered the gravitational forces.

"Oh man, I knew that was too good to be true." Darwin muttered under his breath.

Suddenly, everyone heard a loud scream, prompting them to look up and much to their horror; Rhonda was floating far away from them.

"Rhonda!" Brian shouted, before he flew straight up towards her as fast he can, before he managed to grab her hand in the nick of time.

"Are you alright, Rhonda?" asked the purple fox.

"I'm fine, thanks to you." the yellow mouse replied.

Just then, Brian felt someone pulling his leg rather hard, prompting the purple fox to look at Gumball clinging onto him. Soon, everyone grabbed each other, with Mike being last, before the maroon badger grabbed onto a lamp post, acting as an anchor to prevent everyone from flying further.

"Hang on, everybody!" Mike informed everyone.

While everyone was hanging on to dear life, Nicole and her group, meanwhile, didn't appear to be effected by the second shockwave. At least, until one of them started talking.

"Allez les gars, on y est presque! (C'mon guys, we're almost there!)" Max spoke in a French language, prompting everyone to stop running and looked at him with a confused look.

"彼は何を言ったの?(What did he say?)" Annie spoke to Nicole in Japanese.

"Hva sa du? (What did you say)?" A confused Nicole asked in Norwegian.

"Oh nein! Wir können einander nicht verstehen! (Oh no, we can't understand each other!)" Olivia horrifyingly exclaimed in German.

"Diamo calmarsi solo per un momento… (Let's calm down for just a moment…)" Chuck attempted to calm everyone down, using only hand gestures, ignoring the fact that he is speaking Italian. "Dobbiamo arrivare a Richard subito (We need to get to Richard right away.)"

Thankfully for the older, blue badger, everyone understood what Chuck was talking about, thanks to his hand gestures and they continued to make their way towards the large, pink bunny.

"Grazie, sciarade. (Thank you, charades.)" Chuck said while running with the group.

Mike didn't know how long he was hanging on the lamp post, but the maroon badger could care less about his own predicament. Right now, he needed to hang on as hard as he could, but that was easier said than done. In fact, he could feel his paw is about to give out.

'Oh no, not now!' Mike thought, desperately clinging on to the lamp post with all of his might.

But as his fingers slowly slipped, another shockwave appeared out of nowhere, hitting him and the rest of the group, before everyone fell to the ground. As they got up and tried to regain their composure, Brian looked at his hand, but instead of purple, it was yellow. Likewise, everyone else looked at their hand and they weren't pleased by the most recent change.

"I just got done being a girl!" Brian complained in Rhonda's body.

"You think you have it rough?" asked an annoyed Mike in Anais' body. "Try being in a body of a four year old girl and then start complaining! Everything I see seems to have a pinkish hue to it!"

"That's nothing…" Gumball began in Brian's body. "For some reason, this tail keeps whacking me in the face. It's starting to annoy me already."

"I don't know about you guys, but I like being tall for a change." Darwin happily said in Gordon's body.

"Everyone, we need to focus on the task right now!" Gordon informed everyone in Gumball's body. "The sooner we get to Richard, the better."

"Mr. O'Quinn is right…" Anais agreed with him in Darwin's body. "We have to stop dad before it's too late."

"So let's do it right now." Rhonda insisted in Mike's body. "I just want to get back to own body when this over."

Everyone agreed on that last part and soon, they ran towards their destination as quickly as they can.

Nicole and her group, meanwhile, were able to speak normally once the shockwave managed to hit them. Unfortunately, the shockwave also turned them into elderly folks and as a result, they ended up being slowed down by their old, withering bodies.

"Keep it up, you slowpokes!" Max shouted. "When I was young, we always run around the neighborhood on a daily basis!"

"You're one to talk, you old prune!" Nicole snapped back. "You should drink milk more often!"

"Forget about that, what about the sky?!" Annie commented. "I remembered it being as clear as a crystal!"

"The sky is fine, you old hagfish." Olivia retorted. "In my days, we rode on horses to get to our destination."

"We didn't ride horses, Olivia. We rode on bicycles!" Chuck insisted.

Soon, the five elderly folks slowly made their way to Richard, all the while complaining to one another about the most ridiculous things.

Aside from adjusting to their new bodies, Gordon's group was able to pick up a good pace, due to a lack of obstacles. But while Brian, Anais, Darwin, Mike, and Rhonda were doing just fine, Gumball and Gordon on the other hand, were having a hard time catching up with them.

"Gumball…you really…need to…work out…more." Gordon blurted out, exhausted from running in Gumball's body.

"That's nothing compare to this body." Gumball insisted. "This tail still continues to whack me for no reason."

"Quit complaining you wimps." Darwin berated the duo. "You guys can do better than that."

Before either of them could retort, another shockwave suddenly showed up, prompting everyone to embrace for another shift in reality. But when the wave suddenly hit them, they are stunned to find out that they have reverted right back into their own bodies, much to their relief.

"Thank goodness that's over." said Gordon.

"At least were in our own bodies." Rhonda commented.

"This is no time to relax you guys…" Anais reminded the group. "Dad is still fixing the super computer. We need to get to him right now."

"She's right, there's no time to waste." said Brian.

Everyone nodded their heads in agreement and once more ran, getting much closer to their destination.

After being hit by another shockwave, Nicole and the rest of the group reverted back into their proper age. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for their outfits, as somehow, their appearance had been heavily altered and they look like they came out from the 1970s, though the fashion design was outrageous and horrendous.

"Jinkies!" Annie exclaimed in astonishment.

"Zoinks! Like, why do we look like this?!" asked a startled Chuck.

"This is so not groovy!" Max muttered under his breath.

"Quick everyone, we need to get to Richard right away!" Nicole informed her friends.

"And like hurry, or everything will become psychedelic." said Olivia.

Agreeing with that last statement, the five made a run towards their destination. Thankfully, they didn't go too far, as Nicole's group noticed Gordon and the kids showing up, having managed to reach the super computer just in time, as the group looked on and happily saw them making their way.

"Mom, it's good to…see…you…" Gumball trailed off when he, as well as everyone, noticed Nicole and the rest of the adults wearing their ridiculous 1970s outfits.

"Mrs. Mom, why do you look like a rainbow threw up on all of you?" asked Darwin.

"It's a long story, Darwin and I don't want to talk about it." Nicole replied, before focusing her attention to a certain grey wolf. "Gordon, you know what must be done."

"Don't worry, Nicole. I know exactly what I have to do." Gordon assured the older, blue feline, before focusing his attention to a certain large, pink bunny. "Richard, you can no longer work with me. You're fired!"

Richard, however, didn't hear a single word from the grey wolf, due to the chaos that he had unknowingly made blocking all the noises around him. Undaunted by this, Gordon got much closer to his friend, hoping that this was enough to get his attention.

"I'll say this once more: Richard, you're fired!"

Again, he received no response from the large, pink bunny, causing more irritation for Gordon. After spotting a loose cord on the ground, the grey wolf pulled it out of the ground and proceeded to tear it apart; this desperate act was enough to get Richard's attention, as he noticed that the computer was suddenly malfunctioning.

"Gordon, what's going on? Why did you do that?"

Gordon didn't answer right away, but instead, took a deep breath, before he finally gave an explanation to his friend.

"Richard, sorry if I have to do that. I need to get your attention. Now that I do, I just want to let you know…that you're fired!"

Richard looked at the grey wolf with utter shock, not able to believe what he just heard with his own ears. In a state of disbelief, the large, pink bunny screamed as loud as he could for all of Elmore to hear, all the while reality around everyone suddenly reverted back to its original self, erasing all evidence of the chaos that had ensued, including the 1970s fashion outfits that Nicole and her group were wearing. After screaming for what appeared to be like an eternity, Richard finally calmed down long enough for him and Gordon to regroup back with the entire group.

"I'm sorry I have to do that, Richard. I really wish I could have you around in the office, but after your wife found out, I didn't have much of a choice." Gordon half-heartedly explained.

"It's alright, Gordon. You did help me learn a few skills during the last few days and for that, I'm grateful." Richard assured the grey wolf, prompting Gordon to smile. "You know, maybe there are a few jobs out there that are-"

"NO!" everyone shouted as loud as they can, prompting Richard to gaze at them with confusion, before Nicole finally spoke on their behalf.

"It's alright Richard. You don't have to go through all the trouble. We accept you for who you are, isn't that right, you guys?"

Everyone agreed with older, blue feline, hoping that their immediate response was enough to convince Richard to reconsider his decision, as they waited for the large, pink bunny to respond.

"…Well, if that's how you guys feel, then I'm fine with that." Richard replied, before he happily smiled.

Chapter 54-The Cake

Nicole asks Olivia to create a birthday cake for Anais' birthday and the red badger turns to Gumball, Darwin, Brian and Mike for help in delivering the cake. Unfortunately for the boys, they find several obstacles blocking their way.

Tidbits

-The part where Nicole's group is speaking language is the result of Google translations, to which I thanked Sal for the idea.

-I also wanted to thank Sal for his help on this chapter.

-Early on in the story, I always wanted to do a chapter that involves Gordon and Richard, similar to The Calm, where I focus on Annie and Nicole.

I hope everyone enjoyed reading The Computer and I'll see ya next chapter!
