Kanda touched his lips with the index finger of his right hand, as he jumped over the roofs with his katana in his left hand. It was weird for him to think he actually liked how Allen's lips were still as soft as ever even though he was suffering from the nightmares. He felt a slight bit of guilt inside of him, about everything bad that had happened. It had lessened when he kissed Allen. He didn't like the idea of leaving Allen all by himself. Also, he blamed himself for quite a lot of things. But, there was no other way if he wanted to chase down Alma.
Nearly his whole life he had been used to keeping people at a specific distance. He didn't want anyone to come near to him, so he had built a wall around himself. It's been forever since he first met Lenalee. She was the second person ever to accept him for his rude and cold behavior. Basically, it became his first friend. Many things happened, and it slowly only became natural for Kanda to express a little more of his honest feelings. He wasn't interested in talking much, or speak about his private life. He also didn't like to butt in social activities. In fact, he hated all of that stuff. Socializing with people; Lenalee taught him the basics, (somewhat, somehow..) But, opening up to someone was out of the question.
He met Lavi when he went on a trip with Froi Tiedoll to a boring art gallery. Of course, Tiedoll hopped off on his own at first sight; blinded by the beauty of the art. Kanda, for the grumpy sour puss he was, just loitered around on his own and started to get lost. Until -he was surprised himself - he became totally attracted to a painting of a lotus flower. It's title was 'Ren', made by some random painter. It had something. When he saw the painting, he realized something new. At birth, he was immediately gifted with an ancient inheritance; The East Indian Lotus. It was randomly floating around in the water of an hourglass. He had never really payed any attention to it, or had he ever taken a moment to deepen his thoughts about it. For him, it used to be just an item. Used to. After having seen that painting, he often had dreams or visions about the Lotus flower in the hourglass. As if it was trying to tell Kanda something. But.., when Kanda was finally able to figure out something about a fading lifespan, the dreams and visions had stopped appearing.
During Kanda's trance, watching the painting, Lavi had popped up like an idiot and asked him what was so interesting about the painting. The painting was one of the oldest ones, and was considered as one of the least interesting ones. Of course, Kanda became mad. It was only soon after that when Kanda started - coincidentally - to move in the same building, on the exact same floor as Lavi. Kanda wasn't interested at first. He really thought it was simple coincidence. Those thoughts faded when he slowly got drawn by him. They naturally became friends, just like with Lenalee. He thought it was weird. Something was off. It was weird of his life to go that smooth. Because of his attitude and foul mood, even up until today, he denies they aren't friends. Secretly, somewhere inside of him, he did care about them. They knew that, and understood him completely. That's when he found out the two never met before, despite of them going to the same school. He eventually stopped asking himself things like 'why' and 'how' when he had to enroll in the same school. He had never went to school anyway, so why would he bother going if his knowledge was at a decent level? He didn't know, and didn't care about the answer.
That's when he met Allen Walker. As if his fate was decided for him. Another person that accepted him, in the same apartment; which coincidentally worked at the same school as Lavi. This time it was very different. Love. He experienced real love. Suffering, pain. Unbearable feelings of regret and uncertainty. Loneliness, sadness. He felt alive, these feelings were for the first time really effective. All by this one person, the one he considers as the love of his life. It was only a short amount of time they spent together. He wanted to be together with Allen for eternity.
His mind turned upside down when he found out about him, being reincarnated. He was supposed to be the Demon King, Lucifer, and rain down destruction upon the world. The craziest thing was that Allen, supposedly the reincarnated Crowned Clown, had to be the one to stop him and end the world from its miserable demise. They weren't supposed to meet, yet they did. It was like, they were characters from a fairy tale.
As he looked around in the cold night, he thought about all of these things. Why, if life went that smoothly, had to suddenly end up in something so... pathetic? Why did it have to hurt so much? Why did Allen have to suffer? Kanda couldn't stand it. He seriously couldn't. And here he was, jumping around from roof to roof to hunt down Alma Karma. He only gained one conclusion.
Something happened.
"What if.. not only mine.. but both of our fates were decided, purely to end the world from destruction and let us live our life in peace? That lotus flower..", he whispered out loud. "No.. that's idiotic. By the way, where the hell did I even get this idea from?" He shaked his head. First priority was saving Allen from his pain. Annoyed because he was talking to himself, he didn't notice something was creeping up behind him when he had paused on a certain roof. 'And where the hell am I exactly?'
"TAKE THIS!"
Kanda stepped aside on time, watching a little boy with steel blue hair fall on the roof.
"That.. huuuuurt!", the little boy rubbed his butt when he got up again.
Kanda just looked at him. He was surprised a little boy, in the middle of the night on top of a roof, tried to actually do something to him. Well, it didn't matter if the boy didn't get in his way.
"Go away, you're annoying", Kanda told him.
"Tshh, that's not a way to address me after hurting me huh, old man?", the kid harshly replied. He looked at his clothes to see if there weren't any holes or anything in them.
"O.. old man?!", Kanda grabbed the brat and glared at him, irritated as hell. "Look, stupid kid. I'm going to throw you right off of this roof if you do not leave within three seconds; then you won't have to worry about the pain anymore."
The kid giggled after he had inspected Kanda's looks. "W..wh.."
Kanda raised an eyebrow. "Why the hell are you laughing?"
"WHAT IS WITH THAT OUTFIT, THIS ISN'T HALLOWEEN!", the kid burst out into laughter. The snapped Kanda let go of him so he fell on the roof. It didn't stop him from laughing. "Oh gosh, old man! Or wait, they call that cosplay right? Which anime character are you? It looks so realistic!"
Kanda glared down at him. "Shut up, shitty brat."
"I'M NOT A SHITTY BRAT! I HAVE A NAME!"
"Hoh-oo. Aren't you badass. Now, what's your name?"
"HMPH! I got no reason to tell a creep like you!"
Kanda sighed. He didn't have time for shit like this. He decided just to scare him away; since he saw his cold glare wasn't effective. "That would be very troublesome for me. I usually write down the person's name on his/her grave when I killed him/her."
"Woooh! So cool! I'm getting more excited to know what character you're now! Is that katana real? So tell me, tell me! What are you doing out here? Looking for something? Or someone?", the kid smiled at him. Somehow he reminded him of Alma's past behavior.
"That's my line, you idiot", Kanda answered, while he looked around. It would be hard tracking down Alma. He wasn't even used to his powers yet. "Go home."
"NO! The truth is, I came here to steal your stuff! I steal jewerelly for a living. I don't have parents. I sleep whenever I want, where I want, I don't have a home! Don't tell me what to do!"
'He's.. pathetically persistent.'
"I'm going", Kanda coldly said to him. He closed his mind to cool himself down and concentrate. Perhaps he could find something out that way.
"OKAY! But promise me something! It'll be a promise okay! If I tell you my name, you promise to come back here again, okay?! Get it?!"
"Whatever", Kanda sensed something towards the east. He wasn't sure how he did that, but concentrating some did help.
"Remember okay? My name is Timothy Hearst."
"Kanda", after he said his name, he proceeded his search for Alma. If, who he sensed was Alma, he wasn't going to show any mercy; nor did he expect any in return.
^-^ i wonder too what he sensed~ maybe isn't even a person, if you know what I mean teehee!
well, enjoy
