Chapter 74-The Parents

It was just another day at Elmore, as the bell rang for the day at Elmore Junior High, allowing every student to leave the building until next week and for Brian, Mike and the Watterson siblings, they wanted nothing more than some rest and relaxation during the weekend for a change, after all the school work they put up with.

"So guys, what are your plans for the weekend?" Brian asked his friends.

"Darwin and I are going to get ourselves prepared for the dance next week." Gumball responded to the fox's question.

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that." said Brian, somewhat happy to be reminded of the event that's coming around the corner.

"What? You're actually gonna ask Penny out?" Mike jokingly asked, irritating Gumball in the process.

"Of course I am!" the blue feline shouted. "This time, I'm not going to chicken out on this one."

Mike blew a raspberry before laughing at Gumball's claims.

"Are you serious?!" Gumball asked in annoyance.

"Completely!" Mike responded with a smile.

"I have to agree with Mike on this one..." Anais began. "Every time you try to ask Penny out, something bad ends up happening to you."

"You're not helping." Gumball scolded his sister.

"But he does have a point." Darwin added.

"Not you too!" Gumball bemoaned.

"Gumball, it's true." Brian admitted. "Until you prove us wrong, we're not gonna believe that you're gonna ask Penny out."

"Even if you do ask her out; what are you gonna do then?" Mike added. "Are you gonna be a shy little kitten or actually show her a good time?"

Gumball attempted to retort their claims, but after a few minutes of thinking, he could only sigh in defeat, looking gloomily down on the ground. Finally, after what appeared to be a long silence, the blue feline turned his attention to the maroon badger with a question of his own.

"You think it's easy? When was the last time you asked a girl to a dance?"

"Okay, I may have not asked a girl to a dance but I have asked girls out on dates," Mike defended, though he chose not to use examples.

"Like the time Ally and Carrie tried to rip you apart?" Brian asked with a smirk.

"Not exactly since that wasn't a date." Mike replied, as he scratched his head.

"I'm betting that wasn't a pleasant experience." Anais deduced.

"How about we recreate the scene?" Mike suggested with a smirk. "You can play as me."

"Is it alright if I join?" a certain green gerbil asked, prompting everyone to turn around and see Ally right behind them.

"Ally?!" Everyone exclaimed in surprised. Mike remained silent as he took a step back.

"When did you show up?" asked Brian.

"Not too long ago. Thought I could drop by and see how everyone is doing." Ally happily replied.

Mike turned away and walked behind Brian, not wanting to talk.

"Mike, what are you doing?" Brian whispered to the nervous badger.

"Why are you hiding behind Brian?" Gumball asked the maroon badger.

"Are you still mad?" Ally asked in a calming voice.

"If it's about the incident at the mall during spring break, you need to get over it." Darwin insisted.

"It's not that." Mike said to himself.

"Then what is?" asked Anais.

"Ally called me a few days ago and somehow, I was convinced to meet her parents for the first time." Mike whispered in the child prodigy's ear.

"What?!" Anais shouted, prompting everyone to turn around and stare at both her and Mike with a look of surprise on their faces.

"What's with the shouting?" asked Gumball.

Mike didn't respond before starting to walk away. Unfortunately for him, Ally quickly managed to grab his shoulder, causing him to stop dead in his tracks, much to his dismay.

"You're not gonna go back on your pwomise, are you, Mikey?" Ally said in a mock sad voice, before giving him the puppy dog eyes look; after a few minutes of silence, the maroon badger could only sigh and relent, unable to bear it much longer.

"No Ally, I won't go back on my promise."

"Good." Ally said cheerfully. "I'd have to beat you up if you did."

Mike could only cringe in response to the gerbil's answer. It was the last thing he would be looking forward to. Before long, he saw Ally grabbing his wrist and quickly tighten it, much to his discomfort.

"Don't worry too much about it, Mike. Just get this over with." said Anais.

"Get what over with?!" Gumball asked as Mike was dragged away by Ally.

"I just hope that Mike's visit turns out better than mine." Brian commented.

"Ally, is this all really necessary?" Mike spoke up.

"My parents want to meet you in person and that is one opportunity I don't want to mess up." the gerbil insisted.

"I know, but..." Mike began before sighing. "I've never been good at meeting parents."

"Don't worry too much about first impressions. Just relax and be yourself." Ally attempted to calm him down.

"That's the problem." Mike mumbled.

As they continued walking, Mike decided to try again at getting out of there.

"Have you met me?" Mike inquired. "I'm not exactly the nicest guy on earth!"

"Neither am I." Ally pointed out. "And neither are my parents." she added.

Mike was taken aback by this the moment Ally made her admission. It was something he didn't expect to hear at all.

"What makes you say that?"

Ally didn't respond right away, as the green gerbil took a deep breath, before offering the badger her answer.

"Believe it or not, my parents sort of have a similar condition to me. They can be just as unpredictable and irrational as I am, but they mean well. As long as you're just being yourself, everything will turn out alright." Ally assured the maroon badger.

"Did you really just say that as if nothing was wrong?" Mike mumbled.

"After a long while, you get used to it." Ally replied, shrugging her shoulder like it was nothing.

"Hey guys!" The two turned around to see that Brian had caught up with them. "Since you're heading to Rhonda's, I thought I would tag along!"

"Sure. The more, the merrier." said Ally, happily accepting Brian's invitation, while Mike could only mouth the words "help me" to his friend.

"What did you say?" Brian asked, confused by his friend's demeanor.

"I said nothing!" Mike replied defensively as to not let Ally know.

"Alright then." said Brian, weirded out by the badger's strange reaction. Mike could only face palm in annoyance.

"Anyway, let's not keep everyone waiting." Ally informed her friends.

With that said, the trio walked to the Paxton residence once more, though Mike was hardly looking forward to it.

Fortunately for Ally, she knew the Paxton residence very well, as she simply opened the door and made her way inside, dragging Mike by the wrist, as Brian followed them inside, the latter being amused by the badger's predicament.

"Tough luck." Brian jokingly commented, prompting the badger to lean closer to the fox.

"I know where you live. Don't push your luck." Mike whispered, causing Brian to nod his head rather nervously, knowing full well what the badger is capable of.

"Hey guys!" greeted a certain yellow mouse, prompting the trio to turn their attention to Rhonda. "I'm glad you could make it here, though I didn't expect you to bring Brian, Ally."

"My guess is he wanted to see you," Ally teased, causing the couple to blush.

"Um, sure, I guess." Brian awkwardly replied.

"Hey Ally?" Mike spoke up. "You can let me go now."

"Alright then, stripes." said Ally, as she released the badger from her strong grip. "My parents should still be in the living room. Want to meet them right now?"

"No, but you're gonna make me anyway." Mike replied, as he rubbed his wrist.

"That's what I thought." said Ally, before she lead the maroon badger to the living room, where Mike saw two people right in front of him: one was an older, male gerbil with green fur and blonder hair, similar to his daughter, but he wore a violet shirt and brown jeans, while the other was an older, female mouse with yellow fur and long, red hair. She wore a cyan blouse, grey skirt and pink sandals.

'So this must be Mr. and Mrs. Martin.' Mike thought, before something else dawned onto him. 'They seem normal, but then again, appearances are always deceiving.'

"Who's your friend, Alison?" Mrs. Martin asked in a polite voice.

"Mom, Dad..." Ally began. "This is Michael Badgero. Michael, these are my parents: Wilson and Cheryl Martin."

"H-Hi." Mike greeted them with a shy smile, as he waved hello.

"Don't be so shy kiddo. Anyone who's a friend to Alison is good in our book." said Wilson, as he and his wife got up and shook Mike's hand rather enthusiastically.

'Okay, where's the catch?' Mike thought as they finished shaking hands. 'They can't be this nice.'

Just then, Wilson let out a light sneeze and before Mike knew what happened next, the older, green gerbil suddenly grabbed him by his collar and pinned him to the wall.

"Alright, punk. Who are you and why have you been stalking our girl?" Wilson spoke with a dark and gritty tone.

Mike didn't respond right away; too shocked to say anything, until he opened his mouth to respond to Wilson's accusation.

"I think you got your facts backwards." Mike pointed out. "She more or less stalks me."

"Oh, is that so, punk?" Wilson sarcastically asked, somewhat unconvinced by the badger's claim.

"Will, I think you're being too harsh to him." Cheryl scolded her husband. "Just let Michael go and give him a chance, dear."

"...If you say so then." Will reluctantly complied, as he let go of Mike.

"You know I could file for child abuse and assault right?" Mike said as he dusted himself off, just as Brian made his way to the living room.

Before Will could have a chance to retort, the older, green gerbil suddenly felt a slight tingling on his nose. After a few seconds of holding it back, Will sneezed, reverting back to his old self.

"I'm so sorry back there." Wilson pleaded with Mike. "Will doesn't know who's friend or foe. I swear, it wasn't on purpose."

Mike and Brian's faces turned to disbelief before Mike spoke up again.

"So that's where she gets it from."

"Makes total sense now." Brian agreed.

"Please tell me you don't do it too?" Mike asked Cheryl.

"Don't worry Michael, mine is under control." the older mouse assured the maroon badger.

Mike put both his paws up to his face and groaned into them.

"Are you sure about that?" Brian cautiously asked Cheryl.

Before the purple fox knew what happened next, the older mouse suddenly confronted him with an angry glare.

"Are you questioning me, fox boy?"

"No, no I wasn't!" Brian feverishly replied.

"No amount of therapy could ever make this day seem good." Mike moaned as he crashed on the couch.

"Lighten up, stripes." said Ally, as she made her way to the couch. "I'll admit that today didn't turn out the way you imagined, but it could have been worse."

"Your dad pinned me to a wall a second ago and called me a stalker." Mike reasoned. "Your argument is invalid."

Ally could only cringe in response, knowing full well that Mike has a point.

"Alright, I'll admit that my dad isn't perfect, but he's a good person at heart. Also, he did apologize."

"No he didn't..." Mike began. "Half of him apologized. But it wasn't the half that stuck me to a wall."

"As soon as Will calms down, he'll apologize for his behavior." Ally attempted to assure the irate badger.

Mike sighed as he rolled over to face the ceiling.

"So Mike..." Ally began. "Do you have any plans for next week?"

Mike was taken aback by the suddenness of the question but one look at Rhonda helped him figure out why.

"You're asking me to the dance, aren't you?" Mike asked, causing Ally to blush immensely.

"W-whatever gave you a silly idea like that?!" Ally shuddered.

"Rhonda and Brian won't look me in the eye." Mike calmly replied. "I need no further proof than that."

"...Alright, you got me." the gerbil admitted to the badger. "I just want some company with me when the dance comes."

"...And I don't even know if I want to go," Mike said after a moment of silence between them.

"Why not?" asked a surprised Ally.

Mike didn't answer as he rolled away.

"Mike..." Ally darkly began. "Is there a reason you're behaving like this?" the gerbil was starting to lose her patience with the maroon badger.

"...Yes." Mike replied with reluctance.

"Well?" the gerbil demanded

Mike continued to be silent, unsure of his answer.

"Do you want me to get the answer out of you myself?" Ally asked, before she cracked her knuckles.

"...You can try." Mike replied before quickly getting to the top of the couch.

"I thought so." said Ally, before the gerbil quickly leapt towards the badger.

Mike jumped over Ally's leap and rolled away on his landing.

"You're not getting away that easily." Ally declared out loud, before continuing to chase down the maroon badger.

"Mike, Ally; can't you two stop for ten minutes?!" Rhonda shouted at the two, but it really didn't seem to help.

"Guys, I think you need to stop right now!" Brian yelled, but his pleas fell on deaf ears.

Mike continued to avoid Ally for several minutes until finally, he screwed up and Ally caught him. Unfortunately, she also landed on top of him, where they ended up facing each other.

"Well...this is kind of awkward." Ally sheepishly said.

"K-kind of?" Mike stuttered out.

"We're not interrupting anything, are we?" asked Max, prompting both Ally and Mike to turn around and see everyone, including Wilson and Cheryl, looking right at them.

The two looked around to see they had gotten into the backyard.

"Wait, it's not what it looks like!" Ally attempted to explain.

"Sure it's not." Rhonda said with a smug look.

"Uh..." Mike couldn't think of anything. Whether intentional or not was up for debate.

"Smile for the camera." said Cheryl, as she was holding a camera directly at the two, leaving an embarrassed Mike to quickly try to cover his face, while Ally, on the other hand, became quite speechless from this turn of events.

"Aw, isn't this sweet." Brian commented, before everyone laughed their heads off.

Irked by the fox's words, Mike immediately grabbed a rock out of the ground and with pinpoint accuracy, hit Brian right between the eyes.

"Brian, are you alright?" asked a shocked Rhonda, as she and her family gathered around him.

"Say something, kiddo." said Wilson, before a dazed Brian raised his head.

"Twinkle, twinkle little star." he muttered, before the purple fox lost consciousness.

After spending time with the Paxtons for a few hours, including having dinner, along with a genuine apology from Will, both Brian and Mike left the residence and began walking back to their respective homes, though the purple fox was hardly happy about what happened in the backyard.

"Ow! Was that really necessary?" Brian complained, as he rubbed the sore spot on his forehead.

"You know how I am." Mike reasoned. "And you're a fool if you don't by now."

"Alright, I get it. I won't do it again." said Brian.

"You'd better." the maroon badger said with a smirk.

In the middle of their conversation, a certain ghost teleported out of nowhere, startling the two in the process.

"Hey guys!"

Suddenly, Mike face palmed due to his own negligence.

"Hi Carrie, what's up?" Brian greeted the young ghost.

"I just wanted to make sure that Mike didn't forget that my parents wanted to meet him and a few more of my friends that haven't met them yet."

"He did what now?" Brian asked in amazement, before turning his attention to the maroon badger.

"I forgot okay! Besides, we're not supposed to meet them until tomorrow."

"At least you remember now." Brian commented, before turning his attention to Carrie. "You don't mind if Gumball, Darwin, Anais and I tag along?"

"Actually I was planning on it." the young ghost happily replied. "Be at my house at around two. See you guys then!" And just like that, Carrie disappeared.

"Well, this is going to be interesting." Brian remarked.

"Why me?" Mike's question didn't seem directed at Brian as it was just barely audible.

The next day, Brian, along with Mike and the Watterson siblings, made their way to the Krueger residence, just as they have planned to do so, as the five walked towards the door, the maroon badger was hardly happy about his predicament.

"Cheer up, Mike. Just relax and be yourself." Anais attempted to calm the maroon badger down.

"Okay...I'm calm this time." Mike said as he took deep breaths, hoping to avoid more moments.

"Just don't overdo it." Gumball commented.

"Gumball's right..." Brian began. "We're just going to spend a few hours at Carrie's place."

"Besides, if it'll make you feel better, Gumball once got bitten by Penny's pet tarantula and Brian clogged the toilet back at Rhonda's house." said Darwin.

"You didn't need to tell him that!" both Gumball and Brian simultaneously scolded the two-legged fish, before punching him on both arms.

"I was just trying to calm him down." Darwin defensively said, as he rubbed his sore arms.

"Okay...let's go." Mike said after taking one more deep breath, before the maroon badger, as well as his friends, made their way to the front door of the Krueger residence and knocked on the door.

Suddenly, the door opened by itself, which would creep anyone else out if they didn't know who "lived" in the house.

"Um, hello?" Mike asked, as he stuck his head inside before Carrie suddenly teleported right in front of him, causing the maroon badger to fall on his back.

"I hate you, Carrie." Mike said, as he checked his pulse.

"Sorry about that, Mike." the young ghost apologized to the maroon badger. "I just heard you knock on the door and was planning to let you guys in."

"With an explosion?" Gumball asked.

"It wasn't on purpose. Look, let's just let bygones be bygones and just come in." Carrie insisted to her friends.

Agreeing with the young ghost, the gang walked right into the Krueger residence that seemed to get spookier with each visit.

"What's with the sudden change in the atmosphere?" Brian asked no one in particular.

"My parents are home." Carrie stated nonchalantly.

"That would explain why this house felt a bit cold all of a sudden." Anais remarked.

"Carrie!" a male voice shouted.

"Coming dad!" the young ghost called back.

"Come on, guys!" Carrie motioned for them to follow.

"Where are we going, Carrie?" asked Gumball, as he and his friends began to follow her.

Carrie, however, didn't answer, so the group, with no other options, had to wait in suspense as to what was coming.

'Why do I get the feeling that history is about to repeat itself?' Mike thought, before he and his friends all turned around the corner to see two sets of chairs in front of a fire.

"Sorry for the long wait, dad." Carrie apologized to her father. "We got here as fast as we could."

"It's all good, dear..." the older, male voice assured his daughter. "At least you arrived on time."

"That said, let's see this Mike person you keep mentioning to us." an older, female voice said.

With that said, the two individuals turned around to confront the gang; right in front of them where two ghosts: one seemed to be well-built, older and had two strands of hair sticking out of his head, while the other one next to him was beautiful, had a feminine build and one long flowing hair that covered part of her eyes. It was clear to everyone that they were facing Carrie's parents for the first time.

"And the anticipation doesn't disappoint." Mike commented.

"Mike, these are my parents: Archibald and Vivian Krueger." Carrie introduced them to the maroon badger.

"Hey what about us?!" Gumball asked, insulted. Brian, Darwin, and Anais quickly hushed him.

"Nice to meet you two." the maroon badger greeted the two ghosts.

"This is Brian, Darwin, Anais, and Loudmouth." Mike gestured to his friends in a normal tone.

"Hey!" Gumball objected.

Mike doesn't respond but instead looked back to the ghost family.

"It's nice to meet you in person." said Archibald. "Although I was expecting you to be a bit taller."

"I'm still waiting on that growth spurt." Mike seemed as calm as he could be.

"Now dear, let's treat him with dignity and respect." Vivian criticized her husband.

"He doesn't seem the least bit insulted," Archibald reasoned.

"I have thick fur." Mike deadpanned.

"But you're not even poofy." a confused Vivian commented, clearly missing the point.

"Moving on." Brian suggested.

"Good point." Archibald agreed. "So, how did you manage to win Carrie's heart?" The question made the air in the room so awkward that even Mike was rendered speechless.

"Dad!" Carrie shouted, as a blush took form on her face.

"Don't be shy, just answer the question." Vivian insisted. The room was silent for what felt like an eternity. Carrie could only continue to blush as she struggled to find some words to chew her father to pieces with.

"...I'm not so much shy as I am shocked by the suddenness of the question." Mike said finally.

"Just answer the question." Archibald demanded, slightly irritated by the maroon badger's hesitance.

"I don't know...magic?" Mike said as he really had no idea why Carrie liked him. With the way he treats others, him having friends could only be described as a miracle.

"Alright then." said the older ghost, satisfied with Mike's answer. "So what kind of spell did you perform?" Mike was flabbergasted as well as his friends.

"He's not serious right?" Gumball asked Brian.

"I think he might be old-fashioned." the purple fox responded to the blue feline.

"Dad, he never performed any spells on me!" Carrie defended.

"That's what he wants you to think!" Archibald countered.

"Now dear, let's not get too personal..." Vivian began. "How Mike managed to earn Carrie's love is not of our concern. Let's respect their personal space."

"Fair enough," Archibald agreed. "We must give room for love to grow."

"You're alright with someone who's still alive dating your daughter?" Darwin asked.

"I'm not even dating her!" Mike shouted at Darwin.

The moment the maroon badger yelled at his friend caused the whole room to go silent, as both Archibald and Vivian shifted their focus towards Mike with a serious look.

"What did you say?" Archibald asked with suspicion.

"Please tell me you were only joking." Vivian insisted. Mike was a bit concerned before turning to Carrie annoyed.

"Carrie..." Mike began as Carrie looked away. "What did you tell them?"

The young ghost, however, didn't reply right away, as she shifted her eyes away from the maroon badger and nonchalantly whistled instead, irking Mike in the process.

"Carrie..." the maroon badger began with a dark tone. "I'll ask once again: what did you tell them?"

"I may have hinted that we were dating." Carrie admitted shamefully. Mike wasn't mad...just shocked.

"You told them what?!" the maroon badger couldn't believe what she had just told him just now. "And you still invited me over?!"

"Mike's right, Carrie." Brian added. "If you told your family something other than the truth and then invited people over related to the lie, what did you think was going to happen?"

The young ghost didn't respond and instead, hung her head in shame. It never occurred that what she did was wrong up until now. She never realized how upset her friends were, especially Mike. With that in mind, Carrie took a deep breath and turned her attention to her friends, ready with an answer.

"I'm sorry, you guys..." she began. "I just wanted to make my parents happy. I never meant to get any of you so mad. I swear, it wasn't done on purpose." Mike took a sigh before answering.

"I'm not mad. Just a little...unsure of myself right now." Mike said calmly. "I just need to think for a minute."

"Alright, we understand." said Brian. "We'll give you some space and privacy." The boys, along with Anais, then left the house and headed for home, leaving Carrie with her parents to think about her actions.

Sunday has come and Brian decided to drop by the Badgero residence, hoping that Mike was feeling better. He walked up to the doorbell and rang it, waiting patiently for his friend to show up.

'I wonder how he's feeling.' the purple fox thought, just as the front door opened and revealed the maroon badger in front of him. "Hey there Mike, what's up?"

"Um...not much." Mike said, feigning nonchalantness.

"Are you sure?" Brian asked the maroon badger; he was sensing that his friend wasn't being entirely honest with him.

"Well on my way home after I said goodbye to you guys, Carrie appeared and she wanted to talk." Mike explained.

"Talk? Is that it?" asked an incredulous Brian. "There's got to be more to that."

"For the most part it was just me and her cooling down. We're back to being friends."

"Can you tell me more? Like what did you guys talk about?"

"Why do you want to know?" Mike asked the purple fox with curiosity.

"After yesterday...can you blame me for being curious?" Brian defended himself.

"No, I can't blame you for just being curious." the maroon badger replied, before recalling what happened shortly after he left the Krueger residence.

Mike was on his way back home and as far as he was concerned, he just wanted to head back to his bedroom and sleep. After the ordeal he had to endure, the maroon badger just wanted to forget about everything else, if only for a brief moment. He just wanted the whole day to end. Suddenly with a bang, Carrie appeared in a depressed state that was no longer normal for her since Mike had gotten to know her more.

"Carrie, what are you doing here?" asked a surprised Mike. "What's wrong?"

"Do you still need time to think?" Carrie asked back.

"I just need some time to rest." the maroon badger. "But you still didn't answer my question: what's wrong?"

"I'm just a little worried about the dance coming up..." Carrie said, a little down. Mike knew what was coming but wasn't dreading it. "Up until now, I never had any interest in going to any event the school held. But ever since I met you, I changed my mind and decided to make an exception with the dance. To be honest, I've never gone out anywhere before." Mike was now feeling awkward.

"I think this is going kinda backwards...and very sudden." Mike commented as he rubbed the back of his neck while looking away from Carrie.

"Look, I understand if you don't want to go out with me as a date." the young ghost said to the maroon badger. "I just wanted some company for a change."

"For the dance or right now?" Mike asked.

"Well, um..." the young ghost didn't know what to say, having been taken by surprise by Mike's question, as her face blushed in response. Mike waited patiently for a response from the ghost. "Can we do both?" Carrie answered with uncertainty, before smiling sheepishly.

"I'll think about the former." Mike said as he continued walking.

"Alright, if you say so." said Carrie, feeling a bit better now, before teleporting herself out of the maroon badger's sight.

"So that's what happened." Brian commented, before he heard the maroon badger speak to him once more.

"But it doesn't stop there. Five minutes later, Ally showed up."

"Ally showed up?" Brian asked, surprised to hear this from Mike.

"Yep. She was sitting on my porch when I went to get the mail that my parents forgot to bring in yesterday."

"She didn't do anything to guilt trip you again, did she?" Brian asked once again, becoming a bit curious to hear what the maroon badger had to say.

"No...Actually..."

For Mike, it felt good to come back home, but as much as he wanted to rest, he learned that his parents forgot to get the mail, prompting the maroon badger to get them himself. Once he got the mail, Mike made his way back to his house, but didn't expect to see a certain green gerbil sitting on the porch upon arrival.

"Ally, what are you doing here?!" Mike asked, startled to see her here.

"Mike, calm down! I'm not here to cause any problems."

"Your folks aren't around here, are they?" the maroon badger still couldn't shake off the feeling he had about them, especially when Wilson's alter ego pinned him to the wall and accused him of being a stalker.

"Don't worry." Ally reassured Mike. "The last thing I'd want to do is give you more problems."

"That doesn't sound reassuring."

"Stripes, you really need to relax more often." the gerbil commented, chuckling in response and irking the maroon badger. "But seriously, I came here regarding the dance."

"What about it?" Mike asked Ally.

"Are you still planning to go there? If so, are you planning to bring a date?" the maroon badger was taken aback when the gerbil said that last part out to him. "Look, I know what you're thinking, but I just want to let you know that whoever it is, I'm cool with it and that I hope we can still be best friends."

Mike looked at Ally, still a bit shocked from what he just heard. The maroon badger didn't expect the gerbil to say something like that; it was the last thing he was ever expecting to hear today.

"Don't worry too much about it..." Mike began. "I still haven't decided yet regarding the dance, but if you want to continue hanging out with me, I'll think about it."

"Thanks, I just wanted to tell you this to get it off my chest." Ally said with relief. "If you don't mind, I need to head back to my cousin's place. Thanks for listening."

With that, the green gerbil got up and walked off, while Mike himself made his way inside, closing the front door behind him.

"And that's how it happened." Once Mike was done telling his story, all Brian could do was stare at the maroon badger, amazed that both Carrie and Ally showed up in front of him, all in one day. It was then that something came to the purple fox's mind.

"So Mike, just answer this one question: who will you pick, Carrie or Ally?" Brian's question took Mike by surprise, not expecting the purple fox to ask such a question, before Brian began to explain once more. "It's only going to be a matter of time, Mike. You're going to have to decide which girl you want to be with. Otherwise, you'll end up hurting both of their feelings."

Mike didn't like the pressure Brian was putting him through; it was bad enough that he's the object of affection for both girls, but choosing one over the other was another story. The dance was only a few days away and already he felt his situation becoming more complicated than usual.

"Brian..." the maroon badger finally spoke. "I still haven't decided whether I want to go to the dance or not. Even if I did, I still don't know who to take."

"Well then you won't like what I'm about to say: Gumball and Darwin want you to go so you can coach them through their dates." Brian admitted.

"...What." Mike said flatly as if it was the stupidest thing he ever heard. "Why?"

"You've managed to get Carrie and Ally to fall for you. They took notice and thought you could help them." Brian explained.

"Why aren't they telling me this themselves?" Mike asked

"They're getting fitted today...and they're also afraid." Mike face palmed as Brian continued to deliver more news.

"Okay I'll go!" Mike finally caved with a sigh. "But how am I supposed to make a decision like this in five days?! The dance is this Friday!" Mike ranted.

"Alright, I get what you're saying, but this is something you need to decide on your own. I'm sure that what choices you make, I'm certain that they'll understand and respect it." Brian assured his friend. "Now, if you don't mind, I need to get ready for the dance myself."

With that said, the purple fox left the front porch and began the long walk back home, leaving Mike on his own to decide on what to do next.

Chapter 75-The Dance: Part 1

The day of the dance is just a few days away, but for Mike, he has to decide on which girl he should go out with as his date. Meanwhile, Gumball is finally ready to ask Penny out for the dance and is determined to ask her out.

Tidbits

-Sal and I decided early on that The Parents will end with Mike deciding on whom he will choose. But the choice will be up to you guys!

-For the voice of Wilson and Cheryl Martin, I imagined Diedrich Bader and Dana Delany voicing them.

-Believe it or not, Krueger is Carrie's last name (which was revealed in The Tape). Also, her parents are created specifically for The Newcomer (with Sal and I coming up with their names) and it isn't certain whether they'll actually make a real appearance on the show.

I hope everyone enjoyed this chapter because The Dance, believe it or not, is a two-part final chapter of The Newcomer. How will the story end? Well, I can't tell you that. But I hope the wait will be worth it when it finally shows up. So until then, I'll be seeing ya next chapter.
