15. Celeste Esmeralda Valdez
Reyna groaned and flipped over. It was 3 am and their hell of a child was crying. "Valdez," She muttered. "It's your turn today."
Leo mumbled something that sounded like, "It's your turn, I think."
Reyna put a pillow over her face. "I think not. You might want to check the roaster over Celeste's bed. Oh and while you are at it, feed her or change her diaper. Whatever she needs."
Leo got up, grumbling. He walked over to Celeste's bedroom. Celeste was Reyna and Leo's first-born, and only born as far as Leo was concerned. He loves Celeste and would give his life for her but the crying in the middle of the night has to stop.
When Leo went to her room he found Celeste crying because she was hungry. He fed her. Celeste was a pretty girl with long black curly hair and dark obsidian eyes.
"Aw, who's the good girl now?" Leo cooed. "You probably shouldn't cry in the middle of the night it wakes Mommy and Daddy up, you see?" Leo talked to her daughter. Jason would probably be laughing off his head of by now. But Leo didn't care.
"Dada?" Celest questioned and suddenly Leo's heart jumped with joy. Did Celeste just say her first word? "Rey, you got to see this!" Leo shouted at the top of his lungs. Reyna came in grumbling.
"What happened, Leo, why'd you wake me in..." She looked at the clock. "Three am in the morning?"
"Celeste just said her first word!" Leo said excitedly. All sleep from Reyna's eyes vanished. And she came forward and stood in front of Leo.
"And what might my little princess say?" Reyna asked as she took Celeste from Leo's arms. Leo was grinning ear to ear.
"Dada, she just said 'Dada'." Leo exclaimed.
"Mama?" Celeste asked.
"Oh my gods, did she just say 'Mama'?" Reyna said all excitedly.
"Yup, she did. Our child is far more smarter than me. Must've inherited her mother's brain." Leo smiled at Reyna.
They spent half an hour talking and playing with their kid. Then Reyna noticed the time. It was so easy to lose track of time when they were with their daughter.
"Ok, she needs her sleep," Reyna said to Leo and lulled Celeste to sleep. Leo looked a little crest fallen but went to their bed room. Reyna followed his suite. She crawled in after him and shivered at the cold. The time she was gone made her bed cold. Leo noticed it.
"Hey," Leo offered. "Come over here."
Reyna scooted closer to Leo. He wrapped his arms around her as they snuggled. Leo being the fire guy, he was always warm. "I never would have envisioned you being happy about having a kid."
"You thought I'd run the opposite direction." Leo grinned.
"Yes. It seemed like the appropriate response."
"Nothing's ever normal for me." Leo said.
"Do you ever think that she won't have a crazy childhood like we did?" Reyna asked wonderingly.
"I don't think we're as shitty as our parents." Leo said honestly. There was a loud thunder rumbling. "Oh come on, we saved Olympus for their sorry ass." He muttered bitterly.
"Really, they're just paranoid." Reyna reasoned. They were quiet for a few minutes.
Leo suddenly grinned. "You think Frank's gonna propose?" He asked.
"To Hazel? I have a feeling he'd never get the courage." Reyna smirked.
"Ten drachmas says that he will." Leo looked at Reyna.
"Oh you're on." Reyna added. "Oh and change it into denarii when I win."
"Oh, you won't win." Leo winked at her.
AN: Didn't end as planned. But a review?
