16. A talk with Aphrodite and her daughter

Leo couldn't understand why Aphrodite would confuse him. Him of all people. He wasn't in love by any chance. And Aphrodite only appears when someone's in love, or to threaten her daughter's boyfriend. Yup, she came to threaten Jason right after the war. Leo was pretty confused. Aphrodite was all lovey-dovey and happy and Leo would be stupid not to admit it, Aphrodite's face morphed into Reyna.

But that was only because of a crush, right?

Leo would love to believe that.

He was walking towards his favorite spot, his repair shop to the Argo II.

Leo Valdez, Aphrodite had said, it's cute to see you stumble around not knowing how you feel.

How did she know something Leo is sure doesn't exist. Crush, only a stupid crush. Leo had said.

Everyone Leo cared left, one way or another. He couldn't care. And definitely not for the Praetor of Rome. His best friend's former love interest. A Roman. Warrior, stoic and totally out of Leo's league. Yeah, he definitely has a crush on the girl with a fetish for sugar. Leo got to know Reyna more after the war and yes at first Reyna seemed Hell bound on killing him but Leo finally got Reyna to listen.

So, yes, Leo likes Reyna. But nothing more.

"Are you sure that you aren't in love with Reyna?" A voice asked behind Leo. He turned around to find a very amused Piper.

"How in the world did you know I'd be here?" Leo asked.

"It isn't hard to know where we'd find Leo Valdez, is it?" Piper asked raising an eyebrow. Leo just nodded miserably. Piper came and patted his shoulder gently. "I know mother came to you."

"You do?" Leo asked.

"Hey, she came to Reyna too, of course in her Roman form." Piper mused.

Leo shook his head. "Probably to talk about Jason." He muttered.

Piper heard him. "Not to talk about Jason," Leo definitely knew Reyna's crush on Jason was a bitter subject for Piper. "To talk about you."

"Me?" Leo asked incredulously. "Why me?"

"Reyna likes - loves you." Piper said simply.

"Me? Why me?" Leo repeated his question.

Piper giggled. "Because - if you ask me - you are the only guy who stayed. All the guys she cared about left her. And you make her happy, trust me." Piper said. "Jason and Percy says she was more uptight before you came around."

"Yeah, that so doesn't mean she likes me." Leo muttered.

"Maybe you'll believe when I say she told me?" Piper asked.

"WHAT?!" Leo's hair burst into flames. "You are lying." He accused.

"No, I'm not. Didn't I say Mom came to talk with her?" Piper challenged him.

"You are trying to say the Praetor of New Rome, a girl who can kill me, actually might be in love with me?" Leo asked.

"Yes, now how do you feel about her? But considering the flaming hair, I'd take it you like her a lot." Piper remarked.

Leo blushed. "Even more than Khione and Hazel and Thalia?"

Leo wanted to shout duh! "Khione was a bitch anyway. And there was something about my bisabuelo liking Hazel, so that would be disgusting. Thalia was a hunter. AND of course I like Reyna more than them."

"Then don't you think you should put her out of her misery?" Piper asked. "Oh and yours too." She added as an after thought.

"How?" Leo asked.

"Go sweep her off her feet!" Piper grinned.

"But... she'd kill me." Leo said.

"I don't mean literally. Just go and kiss her, okay?" Piper asked.

"If she kills me, I'm gonna haunt you for the rest of your life." Leo warned.

Piper pushed him. "Just go!" She ordered.

Leo ran. Whew, fixed it, now I can go and announce to Lacy that Leyna will actually happen.
