He wasn't surprised that he found his way back here.

It was, after all, his hometown.

He was here before any of those… people ran him out.

Besides, he still had to claim what was rightly his; that which they had tried to take from him.

It was about time he came back and finished what he started.

Sarah was in her room, doing homework, when she heard something hit her window. Looking out it, she didn't see anything, even with her vampire sight. Ignoring it, she went back to her homework, only to hear the ping once again. Growling in aggravation, she opened her window and jumped out, searching the dark night for whoever was messing with her.

"Who the hell is out here?" She just heard a low chuckle but didn't see anyone as she twisted and turned, searching. "I will not hesitate to kick your ass whoever you are!" All she got was another chuckle; she just growled in return.

"Oh now, is that anyway to treat a guest?" a rough voice asked her, making her turn around; it had sounded like it had come from behind her, but there was no one there.

"Who's there?"

"A friend Sarah. Or have you forgotten me so easily?" the roughness had left the voice, now replaced with a familiar smarminess that she couldn't quite place.

"Show yourself!"

"Now where's the fun in that?" She hissed, her fangs showing now. Another chuckle is all she got.

"I'm not afraid of you, whoever you are."

"That's good. I wouldn't want you to fear me."

"Then show yourself, coward."

"Oh, now name calling is not very nice Sarah. Isn't that your thing? Being the nice vampire?"

"I'm not nice to people who annoy me, which is what you're doing!"

"Ooh, such a temper; there's the feisty Sarah I remember."

"What do you want?"

"Do you still have no idea who I am?"

"Should I?"

"I thought it would be obvious by now dear Sarah. You must have really forgotten me. Did those little pet nerds of yours make you forget me so easily?"

"…No." A low laugh surrounded her before she was surrounded in darkness.

Benny was lying on Ethan's bed, said boy curled up on his side next to him.

"This is nice," Benny murmured, kissing his forehead, "I don't remember when it was just us."

"It's always just us."

"You know what I mean."

"Well I'm sorry I became the Master of Death so I could save your life."

"Well when you say it like that I feel like an ass."

"Good, you should," Ethan chuckled, making Benny shove him a bit with his hip. "Besides, the voices of the dead have really chilled a lot. We've got a good system going now."

"That's good. That means I can have you all to myself can't I?"

"You've always had me to yourself. Having to share me with a couple of ghosts every now and then isn't that bad is it?"

"Not really… it's just that when you get busy with them you just kinda… check out for a bit."

"Well when you hear and see things no one else sees and hears, it's hard to keep things in perspective sometimes."

"It's tough isn't it?"

"Sometimes."

"I'm sorry for not being very understanding."

"It's okay. I know I haven't really been the best boyfriend since I got settled with…this," Ethan said, holding his hand out and turning it into a skeletal hand and back.

"Okay I gotta admit, that's kinda cool."

"Heh, yeah, you should've seen Rory's face when I did it in front of him; I didn't think vampires could have heart attacks, but he was pretty close to it."

"I wish I could've seen that," Benny chuckled, pulling Ethan close. "And now…" He rolled over on top of Ethan, pressing a kiss to Ethan's grinning lips. Pulling away, he didn't open his eyes. "I swear, if you're a fucking skeleton when I open my eyes I'm leaving." He heard Ethan chuckle and pull his face close.

"I'm just me, its okay," he murmured, kissing him again. Benny chuckled and kissed him back, hovering over him still; they were so caught up in each other, they didn't even notice when they were no longer alone.

"As cute as watching you two is," a snide voice spoke out, making the two still, one still on top of the other; neither wanted to open their eyes. "We need your help."

"Duuuudes," a second voice said, making them both open their eyes; green glared and brown just looked confused.

"How the hell did you get into my bedroom?" Ethan asked, pushing Benny off of him and sitting up. "And you need our help? With what?"

Erica exchanged a look with Rory before they both sighed.

"What is it?"

"…Sarah's missing."

"What?" Both Benny and Ethan cried out, making the blonde girl nod as she perched in his computer chair.

"Sarah called me about a half hour ago; I didn't answer because I was… otherwise engaged, but she left a voicemail." Erica fished her phone out of her purse and began to play the message. "It's really static-y. You can only hear parts of it."

"Erica! It's Sarah….something…he….for me…hel…NO!"

"Something's happened to her," Erica said, pocketing her phone. "I have no idea what, but you guys have your hands in everything and anything supernatural that's going on, so I figured if anyone can find her, it's you two Lovebirds and Count Dorkula over here. So, what do ya say?"

"Of course we'll help! You're not the only one that cares about Sarah!" Ethan exclaimed, making Benny eye him with contempt for a moment; Ethan ignored it and faced Erica. "Where should we start looking for her?"

"How about her house?" Benny said dryly, as if this was obvious.

"Yeah, that's probably where she was last; she said she had homework she had to do tonight," Ethan said thoughtfully as he got up. "Come on you guys, let's go! We've got a vampire to save."

Sarah stared at her captor, expression blank.

"Was kidnapping me really necessary?"

"Oh yes my dear, how else could I get you to talk to me?"

"You could've asked," she deadpanned, making the other grin.

"Oh, you wouldn't have talked to me. I know you too well." She rolled her eyes and huffed as she struggled against her restraints. "You know that's pointless. It's unbreakable, even with vampire strength as strong as yours. You're stuck there until I let you out," they said, waving a key in front of her face. She hissed and they just laughed. "Oh Sarah, you are so predictable. Let's hope your little friends are too."

"You two smell anything?" Ethan asked the two blondes, who were walking around Sarah's yard.

"Someone was definitely here besides Sarah… I just can't quite tell who."

"Yeah, it's almost familiar but not quite… I can't place it."

"Can you guys trace where they went?"

"We're vampires, not bloodhounds."

"You wanna find Sarah or not?" Erica grumbled at them incoherently before pointing.

"That way."

"You know they're coming for me."

"Yep."

"You want them to come for me."

"Indeed I do."

"Why?"

"Because I need them to understand they can't destroy me."

"They will. They're not the same as they were when you left. They'll beat you."

"No they won't. They can't do it."

"You'd be surprised with what they can do."

"What's wrong?" Ethan whispered to Benny as they followed Erica and Rory, who were trying to trail the scent Sarah had left.

"Nothing."

"You're lying."

"No I'm not."

"Yes you are."

"No I'm not!" Ethan shut up then, shoving his hands in his pockets and not looking at his boyfriend as they walked. Benny bit his tongue before he groaned.

"Fine. There is something wrong."

"Shocker."

"Ethan."

"Okay, sorry. What is it?"

"…I'm…jealous."

"Of what!?"

"You were so…anxious to save Sarah. I kinda felt… left behind."

"Left behind? Benny, trust me, I'd never leave you behind. You're my sole reason for living."

"Really?"

"Yep. I love you, you big goofball."

"I love you too."

"As sickening adorable as you two are, we're here." The two looked away from each other to look at the nice home in front of them.

"Are you sure?"

"Of course I'm sure! Sarah's scent ends here. Is she here? No idea. But she was and very well still could be. So, if you don't mind, I'd like your help in saving my best friend!" Erica said hotly, walking up to the door and kicking it down before barging in, the three younger teens following her.

"They're here."

"Yes they are."

"You better be ready for them."

"They better be ready for me."

"Hello?" Rory called out as the group looked around; the home was nice, if not a little bare. No photos were on the walls, no trinkets or knick-knacks; nothing but barren space.

"Hello hello, and welcome to my humble abode." The four looked up to see who stood at the top of the stares, grinning down at them.

"Jesse?!" He grinned as he sauntered down the steps towards them; waving a hand dismissively, Rory and Erica both slumped to the ground, unconscious. Benny and Ethan went to them in attempts to rouse them.

"They won't wake, so you can stop bothering them," he said softly, meeting Benny and Ethan's eyes. "How are you two? Still nerdy?" Benny's fingers twitched, about to shoot a spell when Jesse raised a hand. "Uh uh uh, don't want to do that now do we? Don't you two want to at least hear what I have to say?"

"Why should we?"

"Don't all great villains get to spill their brilliant plans before the hero tries to stop them?" The two were silent, making him grin. "I don't wish to cause you two any harm. I simply want Sarah. I created her for a very specific reason and you two just kept getting in the way. So here's my proposition for you. I will spare your measly human lives in exchange that you let me keep Sarah. Easy as that. What do you say?"

"I don't think we have any right to speak for Sarah. Why don't you ask her?"

"I would, you see, but she's kind of… tied up." He pointed to the ceiling as he spoke. Brown and green eyes traveled upward, meeting the wide eyes of Sarah; she hung from the ceiling, arms bound in thick metal-looking rope, duct tape covering her mouth. "So you see, she's not inclined to really make any decisions at the moment. You two will have to speak for her."

"And if we say no?"

"Oh that's simple. You die." Benny glanced at Ethan, who looked at him, eyes wide; Benny easily recognized the look in Ethan's eyes.

He was thinking up a plan.

"So, your petty, meaningless lives, or hers? I will take care of her, I promise." Ethan closed his eyes briefly, and Benny felt the air in the room shift; it had been stale, like how air gets in a long-closed room. But now it was filled with rustling, as if a light wind was whirling around. When Ethan opened his eyes, his pupils were blown so wide that the once brown eyes now looked back. Jesse took a step back in surprise. "What are you?" he whispered to Ethan; he too had felt the difference growing in the air. Ethan didn't answer as his body began to vibrate slightly, shaking in the slowly-chilling room. As if in a shift of light, where Ethan was was now a mobile skeleton, its stark-white bones glowing in the light. It opened its jaw and let out a loud howling screech, making the walls and floors shake as ghost after ghost began to enter the room.

They bypassed Benny and the others, heading straight for Jesse. He turned to flee from them, but he wasn't quick enough. They converged on him, swarming him with loud cries of outrage; Jesse screamed in frustration and what sounded like agony as they continued to try to suffocate him. The skeleton looked at Benny with its eyeless eyes, giving a jerky nod to him, and then Benny heard Ethan's voice in his ears.

"Now Benny! Go spellmaster on his ass!" Benny raised his hands and felt the words tumble from his lips before he had time to think of what spell to even use; the spell floated from his fingertips and passed through the ghosts to connect with Jesse's chest.

With one final scream, Jesse was gone; all that was left was a pile of ash in his place. The ghosts then looked at the skeleton before drifting off, one by one, until they were gone. Benny waved his hand almost lazily, making whatever bound Sarah disappear. She easily landed on her feet as Rory and Erica began to awaken. As they stirred, the skeleton began to wobble before he fell to the ground; when he landed though, he was already Ethan again.

"E!" Benny cried, helping the weakened boy sit up, "What did you do?"

"I called forth the ghosts of the people he's killed."

"That was a lot of ghosts."

"It exhausted me to control that many at one time. I don't think I can walk home." Benny scooped the slighter boy in his arms and stood up.

"Thank you both for saving me," Sarah said softly, smiling wearily at the two.

"Anytime Sarah," Ethan said tiredly, eyes already drooping.

"Yeah Sarah, what are friends for?"

Well I hope this was good! I tried, that's gotta count for something right?

Thanks for reading!

See ya'll next time.
