A couple was walking hand-in-hand as the sun set around them, just enjoying their time together. The girl brought her hand up to toy with a jeweled pendant that was around her neck as they continued to walk; the way the light made her necklace light up made it look like it was a precious, priceless gem. The guy stared at her and stopped walking so he could turn to face her. They stared lovingly at each other before they moved to share a kiss. Before their lips could touch though, a loud screeching sound tore them apart. They looked around in fear as, what little light was left, was darkened by something that circled above them. Another loud screech had them running for their lives. The girl stumbled though as the shadow darkened above her.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Ethan jerked up in his bed, his chest heaving from the dream he had just had and a scream dying on his lips. He rubbed his eyes as the image flashed behind his closed eyes.

"E? You okay?" Benny got out as he yawned; his boyfriend jolting had woken him up.

"…Yeah."

"You sure?" he asked, looking at him with tired but knowing eyes.

"…It was just a dream."

"What was it this time?"

"I don't know. Something attacking people…" Ethan's voice trailed off as he got up and made his way to his computer.

"What are you doing?"

"Checking the news." Benny rolled his eyes but got out of Ethan's bed to put his arms around said boy.

"E, it was just a dream." Ethan was silent though as he brought up a video of a local news story.

"Tonight, a young woman was attacked while out for a walk. Ma'am, you could tell us what exactly happened tonight?" The camera panned to show a shaken looking woman, who was being held by an equally shaken man.

"Well… we were out for a walk, enjoying the sunset, when… this shadow came over us. We didn't know what was happening! But then… there was this loud…."

"Screech," the man said, making her nod.

"Yeah, a terribly loud screech. So we began to run from whatever it was, but then it came for me! It stole my necklace!" The camera zoomed in to show her torn shirt and her bare neck.

"And any idea what it could've been?"

"A monster. A flying, terrifying monster. All I remember were amber-gold eyes staring down at me before a large… claw ripped my shirt and took my necklace."

"Well there you have it folks. Is Whitechapel home to a vicious flying clawed monster, or is this just a simple prank? I guess we'll all just have to wait and see. Keep your eyes open folks. I'm-" Ethan paused the video then and looked at Benny.

"Yeah, just a dream…" Benny shook his head and Ethan frowned. "What do you think it was?"

"I have no idea. What did you see in your dream?"

"That," he said, tilting his head at the screen. "What the woman described. That's what I saw."

"How?"

"I have no fucking clue."
...

The next day Ethan was reading the newspaper.

"When did my boyfriend become a 40-year old man?" Benny asked as he watched his dark eyes scan the paper. Ethan flipped him off but didn't look up yet. "E?"

"This is like the fourth time it's happened."

"What's happened?"

"A woman has been attacked! And there's always some jewelry taken."

"So?"

"Dark shadows, claws, attacks, and this town all add up to what?"

"…Monster."

"Exactly."

"Dammit. Just one time. That's all I want. One time without a vicious monster that we don't have to stop." Ethan shook his head and put the paper down. "Why us?"

"Who else is gonna do it?" Benny groaned and slammed his head down on the table. "Don't do that; I don't want a stupid boyfriend." Benny groaned again and flipped him off before he raised his head.

"Wait."

"What?"

"It said girls were attacked… how are you planning on catching this thing?" Ethan chuckled and Benny narrowed his eyes.

"No."

"Yep."

"I better get sex for this," Benny muttered as he fixed his blonde wig. "Seriously, this is ridiculous."

"Would you rather I pretend date Sarah? Cuz she offered."

"No."

"Well then Betty," Ethan said, snickering at his boyfriend who just glared at him, "finish getting ready for our date."

"I better get lots of sex for this."

"Not yet," Ethan said, making Benny groan. "We talked about it. On our one year, I'll gladly have sex with you."

"Why do you keep putting it off?" Ethan sighed and shook his head.

"I don't want to get into this right now," he muttered, ruffling Benny's wig. Benny huffed and went off to fix it. Ethan sighed and ran his hand through his own hair as he avoided his boyfriend's question for another moment. He knew he couldn't put it off forever.

"How do I look?" Benny asked, his hands shoved into the pockets of his borrowed red jacket.

"Like a pissed off girl."

"Perfect, that's what I was going for," Benny said, rolling his eyes. Ethan chuckled and went to his desk. "So how do you plan to catch something that we have no idea what it is?" Ethan shrugged and tossed a play-jewelry necklace to Benny, who put it on with a grimace. "And why couldn't you be the girl?"

"Because it was my idea," he said, a smile playing on his lips. "And as for how to get it… I figured we'd wing it."

"What?!"

"What?"

"So I'm risking my neck and we don't even have a plan?!" Ethan rolled his eyes and walked up to Benny.

"I have a… kind of plan."

"Which is?"

"Sarah and Rory will be out and acting like a date too."

"So?'

"With a fake necklace and this," he said, holding up a walkie-talkie. "Once we figure out what we're dealing with, we'll know how to catch it." Benny pursed his lips as he thought about this.

"Well… That's more than I thought you planned." Ethan smiled and kissed Benny quickly. Benny felt himself relax with the kiss and smiled as Ethan pulled away. "Okay, well, let's do this."

"That's my girl."

"Rory, are you and Sarah in position?" Ethan asked into the walkie-talkie, waiting for his reply.

"Ugh," came Sarah's voice, making him roll his eyes. "Why couldn't I fake-date you Ethan and Rory get stuck with Benny? You know I'm more fun."

"Sarah come on. Are you two in place?"

"Yes. Although I wish it were you."

"Sarah, stop hitting on my boyfriend and go on your date with Rory!" Benny cried, taking the walkie-talkie from Ethan's hands. "Okay?"

"Geeze, don't get so snippy."

"I'll show you snippy you undead bit-"

"Benny!" Ethan cried, taking it back. "Okay you two, the suns setting. It's go time."

"On it E," came Rory's response. Ethan pocketed the walkie-talkie and took Benny's hand.

"Ready?"

"Ugh."

Benny and Ethan walked hand-in-hand throughout the park, Benny pouting under his wig. They could see Sarah and Rory on the other side, doing the same. As the sun was almost done setting, Ethan was ready to call it a night.

But then, a loud screech began to fill the air as a large shadow appeared.

"Sarah, Rory, it's go time!" Ethan cried into the walkie-talkie as the screeching grew louder around him and Benny. The two vampires were there in a heartbeat as the four of them watched the shadow grow darker.

"What is that?" Sarah asked as they all began to back up a bit.

"Wow," Rory said softly. "They don't exist…"

"What is it? Rory do you know what that thing is?" He nodded as the creature swooped down then, the screeching ringing in their ears.

It landed on its clawed feet as its gold-amber eyes watched them. Its tail swished back and forth as it surveyed them, as if it was waiting for something.

"It's a Griffin."

The four of them stood there, not moving

Then, as they made to step back slowly, what little bit of light that was left caught Sarah's necklace, making it shine just for a moment. The Griffin saw this and rose up on its hind legs and let out a loud screech. Sarah gasped and pulled Benny in front of herself as protection. The beast didn't seem to notice as it swung its front talons at him, swiping for the necklace. Benny cried out as the talons pierced his skin.

"Benny!" Ethan cried out as he stumbled to the ground. The beast turned to watch him before it jumped up and screeched, its wings flapping fiercely as it circled above them, the necklace from Benny's neck clamped in its claws. The beast rose a bit more before it dived, its screech piercing the night. Ethan was jerked out of the way by the Rory.

The Griffin turned to face them as the two boys backed up.

"How do we stop this thing?" Ethan hissed at Rory, who shrugged.

"I don't know. They like jewels."

"Which explains all the necklaces it steals." Ethan looked at Benny, who was slumped on the ground, face contorted with pain. His eyes then traveled to Sarah, who was also staring at Benny, but with a slight smug smile on her lips. He frowned and looked at the Griffin, who kept watching them.

"What do we do?" Rory asked, making Ethan barely shake his head.

"I don't know." The Griffin let out another screech before a loud noise distracted it from striking at them.

"Hey!" Sarah was holding up the necklace just right so it looked like it was glowing. The Griffin screeched and flew into the air as it circled above Sarah.

"What are you doing?" Ethan hissed, making her look at him.

"Saving you two you dumbass," she said, holding the necklace higher. "Now get out of here!"

It landed in front of her and stalked forward slowly, eyes trained on the swinging jewel. As it raised a claw to grab it, a strangled voice cried out something. The beast froze as it turned to stone before their eyes. Ethan looked to see Benny standing weakly, his shirt covered in blood, hand still outstretched from his spell.

"Benny!" he cried, racing towards him. Benny fell to his knees as Ethan got to him. He ripped off the blonde wig and ran his fingers through the tousled brown hair. "Rory call 911!" Sarah stood there, watching with a glare as Ethan held Benny in his arms.

"What were you thinking?" Ethan asked Sarah as they waited for Benny to be released. Sarah shook her head and crossed her arms, not answering him. "Answer me dammit!" She didn't look at him as she spoke.

"What's so great about Benny? What's he got over me?"

"Sarah, we've been over this. And the fact that you almost got my boyfriend killed to save your own immortal self isn't making me like you anymore," he said, making her sigh.

"Whatever. He's not good for you Ethan."

"And who is, you? At least I can keep my humanity with him." Sarah hissed at him in annoyance.

"I should just change you so you'll have to be with me," she whispered as he got up to meet Benny. Ethan may not have heard her, but from the glare she was getting from Benny, he had. She glared at him once more before she left them alone.

"Are you okay?" Ethan asked, looking at his boyfriend, who was looking a little pale.

"What, think a couple of gashes are enough to do me in? Like I'm gonna leave you alone with Sarah." Ethan chuckled and hugged Benny, who hugged him back.

"I'm so glad you're okay."

"Me too. Love you E."

"Love you too."
