….
"They're beginning to become a nuisance," she said, hands tracing lazy circles into the wood of the table her and the others sat out. "Agreed?"
"Agreed," mutual voices replied, all with the same dazed sound she had.
"Good. How do we handle this growing problem then? They must be taken care of."
"Agreed."
"Yes, that has been established."
"You always have grand ideas, dear Leader. What are your thoughts on this growing frustration for us?" She continued to scratch circles into the tabletop as she thought over his words.
"I do have grand ideas, don't I?" she asked, pleased with the compliment. "We need them turn against one another."
"Yes."
"Wonderful!"
"Well-thought!"
"But," she said, raising a hand to stop their conversation, "which one would do it?"
"Neither."
"They are one soul in two bodies."
"Not one without the other."
"Hmm," she said, beginning to scratch circles again, "so true… they are always together, are they not?"
"Yes."
"Undubitedly."
"Most certainly."
"Then maybe," she began, voice hollow and soft, "they will be each other's undoing. With the proper… influence, of course."
"How genius!"
"Grand idea."
"This will be their downfall."
"Yes," she said, flexing her fingers as a grin split her lips, "this will be their downfall, once and for all. And," she said, as if in an afterthought, "it will be by their own hands as well. Time for them to pay for all the trouble they have caused. For good."
"Here here!" The others cheered in a monotone-voiced agreement. She smiled dimly as she began to plan how she would go about this.
…
Ethan laughed as he dodged an attempted shot that was aimed at him. He pumped his own gun and shot, missing his target by inches. He laughed again as he aimed, only for a splash of water to get aimed to his face; he sputtered and glared at his boyfriend, who laughed, his water gun shaking.
"I'm going to get you back for that," he said, pumping his gun before he let out a tribal-sounding war cry, running towards Benny, who attempted to dodge but missed; his shirt was soaked by the time Ethan barreled into him.
"Ooh," he groaned, Ethan's weight on top of him completely. "Okay, you win babe." Ethan laughed only until Benny knocked the gun from his hands and rolled them over so he was on top. "I was pretty sure I'd top the first time," he whispered, winking. Ethan blushed and shook his head, an embarrassed, amused grin on his face.
"Is that all you think about?"
"When I have a gorgeous boyfriend like you? Yeah."
"You're delusional."
"I'm horny."
"Benny!"
"What? Just stating a fact." Ethan rolled his eyes and wiggled, indicating he wanted to get up; Benny didn't move though.
"Get off of me Benny."
"Nope," Benny said, pressing his lower body into Ethan's just a bit; he saw Ethan's eyelids flutter only a tiny bit before he began to push him.
"Benny."
"Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?" he whined, making Ethan chuckle and give him a light kiss; Benny tried to make it more intense, but Ethan rolled him over then until he was straddling his waist.
"Patience is a virtue babe," he whispered in his ear, his breath warm on the shell, making Benny's breath hitch a bit; Ethan chuckled and continued, "Plus, I told you we'd do it on our anniversary; until then, I'll just have to keep teasing you." His tongue darted out, tracing the sensitive skin on Benny's ear, making him groan softly.
"Knew….you were….doing that on purpose." Ethan laughed softly at Benny's words and grazed his fingers over Benny's crotch before he jumped up and walked towards his house. Benny let out a sad groan and sat up. "TEASE!"
"YOU LOVE IT!"
"Only a bit!" Benny called, getting up and frowning. "Our anniversary can't get here soon enough," he muttered to himself before he followed Ethan inside to go eat lunch.
…
"This will be tough," he said, looking at her. She watched the house for a second and looked at him. "They are happy. How can we turn one against the other?"
"By… persuasion," she replied, her lips pursed as she thought some more.
"But which one is most likely to be persuaded?" She looked at him again and he lowered his eyes to the ground, unable to meet her bright eyes.
"That is an excellent question. One has the brains and the cunning to outwit the other easily, but the other has the power and strength… I think they can both be easily persuaded."
"But we only need one to turn."
"Yes, only one."
"So which one?"
"Which one indeed…."
…
Ethan was in the kitchen, making him, Benny, and his sister Jane dinner when a loud booming knock shook the front of his house. He stopped what he was doing to open it; he immediately recognized the crest that was on the man's shirt.
"What does the council want with me now?" he asked, not even giving the man a chance to speak. He growled though, his fangs showing before he thrust an envelope with Ethan's name written on it into his hands.
"You are summoned to a meeting with the council tomorrow morning. You are required to come alone. Anyone who comes with you will be killed right in front of your eyes. It's all in the summons." Ethan looked at the envelope and then back at the man.
"If I don't want to go?"
"You will be painfully, forcefully dragged."
"Right. Guess I'll see you tomorrow big scary vampire man." The man snarled, his fangs showing before he flew off. Ethan rolled his eyes and pocketed the note.
He'd worry about the meeting tomorrow.
…
"Did he receive the summons?" she asked, a white china tea cup in front of her.
"Yes."
"Good." She swirled the contents and looked at it. "Tomorrow, Ethan Morgan will belong to us."
…
Ethan and Benny parted ways at the bus stop, Benny heading towards school while Ethan headed towards the older part of town. He held the envelope in his hand, clamped tight. He stopped walking to re-read it once again.
'Mr. Ethan Morgan,
Your presence is required at the Vampire Council House on the following morning. Your solitary presence is all that is required; any other human or vampire that is not you that attends this meeting will be brutally harmed and drained during your presence. This is the only warning you will receive on the matter.
This meeting will take place in the Grand Hall, where you will meet with the Head herself as well as a court of two or more Acquaintances of the Head.
Your attendance to this meeting is much looked forward to.
The Vampire Council'
Ethan shoved the note back in his pocket and made his way to the looming building, a sense of doom rising in him.
Whatever they wanted with him, it couldn't be good.
…
"Hello Ethan," she said, smiling at him, her fangs extended. He looked at her, distrust in his eyes.
"What do you want with me?" Her smile grew as she stood up and moved towards him.
"You are too smart for me to fool, aren't you?"
"Yep. What is it?" He crossed his arms, tired of playing games. She just cocked her head, that sadistic smile in place before she flicked her hand; two Vampire Goons came up and held Ethan in place. "Wow, like I'm surprised," he deadpanned, making her smile fall briefly before she came closer. He opened his eyes, avoiding whatever they had planned for him.
"I thought Benny would be a good choice, but then I remembered, you have had the Venom run through your veins and have the Magic change you… And then I knew, your mind can easily be persuaded." She was in his face now, a small hand gripping his face, making him wince. "Oh yes, you can be." She gripped his face hard, making his eyes snap open to see hers locked on him.
"What do you want with me?"
Her voice, now deep and smooth, unlike the child-like one she spoke with before, rang in his ears as her eyes glowed into his.
"You will turn, into one of us, only for you to kill your beloved. Once he is dead, you will turn mortal once more, and take your own life. You will do this, because I command it."
"Noo…." Ethan said weakly, already feeling his mind changing, shifting under her gaze.
"Yes. You will do this. You will kill Benjamin Weir and then take your own life. Do you understand?"
"Yes," Ethan said softly, slumping against the ones holding him before he arched, body shaking. She smiled as she stood back, waving her hand so they let him go. He shook another minute before it stopped. He stood up and looked at her, a grin playing at the edge of his lips.
"You know what to do Ethan?"
"Yes Ma'am," he said, bowing to her briefly before he grinned, the fangs in his mouth glinting.
"Good. Now go." He nodded and turned, dashing out of the building. "By the end of the day, they will no longer be of our concern."
…
Ethan sat outside his house, in the shade of his porch, avoiding the sun; he felt weird, the power coursing in him, making him feel odd, shaky.
He couldn't remember much, except that he was supposed to do something…. Something with Benny…. He was sure he would remember when he saw his boyfriend.
He inched away from the light; it was bothering him today; he wasn't sure why.
"E, there you are," Benny called out; he was still a good bit away, but Ethan stiffened at his voice.
Something felt wrong to him.
He felt… anger towards Benny; he wanted to hurt him.
How could he hurt the person he cared about?
"E? You okay?" Benny was so close now; Ethan began to shake as he scrambled to reach his front door. "Ethan? What's wrong?"
"Go….away," Ethan said with some difficulty, pain coursing through him now; he couldn't move though. Benny was too close.
"E, what happened? Did the Vamps do something to you?" Ethan felt his eyes widen; they had done something, hadn't they? But he couldn't remember! He shook as Benny approached him.
Benny went to place a hand on his shoulder when it was gripped in a tight, locked grip; he looked into Ethan's eyes and gasped; they were glowing; moving downwards, he could see the fangs in his boyfriend's mouth.
"They… changed you?" Ethan just hissed before he launched himself at Benny, hands going to Benny's throat, ready to choke the life out of him. Benny tried to get out of his grip, but to no avail; the vampire strength was nothing compared to the vampire strength his boyfriend now possessed. "Ethan," he gasped out as the hands tightened, the fangs dangerously close, and "this isn't…you." Vampire Ethan just hissed again, his mouth lowering to Benny's neck, fangs long and poisonous. "Ethan. Please." Benny took a shaky breath before he struggled to place a hand against his chest. "I'm…. sorry." He pushed hard, a light pushing the vampire up and off of him. He coughed, rubbing his throat; he was sure there would be bruises. He just hissed and charged him again.
"I don't want to hurt you Ethan," he whispered, hoping his boyfriend was still in there, but that hope was fading fast as the burning, glowing eyes aimed at him before he was tackled, the iron-grip back on his throat, suffocating him. "Fine," he whispered, straining to breath. "You win. I don't want to live while you're like this." Benny's vision was blurring, fading in and out. He was about to pass out.
"Be….nny," Ethan said, his fangs close Benny's throat. Benny just let out a sad sob before he blacked out completely.
When he stopped moving, Ethan let go, a convulsion shaking him. When it stopped, he blinked and looked around.
"Nononononononono, not again," he said, pressing his fingers to Benny's throat; he could feel the faint pulse there, and he breathed out slowly. "You're gonna be okay." Ethan sat back and looked at his boyfriend, sadness in him. He had done that to him; he knew he had.
He hadn't wanted to, but the Vampires had controlled him. He sat there, his hand traveling to his pocket; he barely even noticed as he focused on Benny's slowly rising chest. He didn't even notice the pocketknife that came out, flipped open, and was brought to his wrist; he just sat there, watching him. Only when the pressure of the knife against his skin could be felt did he break the trance. Looking down, he could see the blood pouring from his wrist; the sight of it made him feel faint.
"Benny," he said softly as his vision darkened. "I'm sorry."
"It's okay," Benny whispered, opening his eyes. "I know it wasn't you."
Ethan passed out before he could respond.
…
"He's lucky he survived this. I went down there and had a few words with those vampires. I came back with some bruises but they have a few less minions for now." A woman's voice was speaking, clearly aggravated. "Putting Ethan in a trance to kill the both of you! They're lucky I didn't destroy all of them!"
"I'm still considering it," a raspy voice replied, near Ethan's head. "We could do it Grandma."
"Don't tempt me."
"Ben…ny?" Ethan got out, his eyes still closed. He felt a hand on his, a voice in his ear.
"I'm here E." The voice was raspy and sore, but it was Benny's. Ethan opened his eyes and blinked some before he looked around.
"You're….alive."
"Yep. And so are you."
"But…what?"
"The Vampire Council put a trance on you so you would change, and kill me, and then you; but see, I didn't get killed. You only knocked me out; hence, since I wasn't dead, you couldn't kill yourself. Just hurt yourself," he said, lifting Ethan's arm; Ethan saw the thick bandage wrapped around his wrist.
"I'm…sorry."
"It's fine. You weren't in control of your actions."
"Am I okay?"
"Yeah, Grandma got it all out of your system while you were out." Ethan nodded and closed his eyes.
"You saved me; both of us actually."
"What?"
"If I had killed you, you would be dead; but you held your breath so you'd pass out."
"Yeah."
"Which means if you had let me crush your throat, you would be dead. But you didn't. You held on."
"Well, I have a reason for living." Ethan grinned, but didn't open his eyes. "Rest E, it's all okay now."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
…
So, I hope you all liked that.
Thanks for reading.
