Thanks everyone for the encouraging and helpful comments. I know I haven't mentioned it before but this is my first fanfic and I need feedback. Thanks everyone for reading and I hope you enjoy this chapter.
Fear spread through Johnny like a cancer, his worst nightmare was becoming a reality.
"No, no they can't do that!" Johnny screamed."I'll never see you guys again, please-please just don't let them take me!"
"Don't worry kid they're not gonna take you any where," Dallas said .
"What choice do we have? We can't just say 'Oh no I'm sorry I think we'll just keep him here.' I mean, this is a murder case and he's the closest thing they've got to a witness," Darry added.
"Why can't he just stay here? I mean you took custody of me and Soda when mom and dad died," Ponyboy piped up.
"Are you kidding me? Ponyboy that was a different situation entirely!"
"Well I'm not letting him go with the cops," Dally said putting a firm hand on Johnny's shoulder. The sound of sirens approaching scared the blonde just as much as it did his friend. If they took him he probably would never come back.
"Darry please I'll do anything just don't make me go!" Tears continued to stream down Johnny's face as someone knocked loudly on the door.
Darry looked at Johnny and whispered,"I'm sorry kid." A officer with a stern look stood at the door.
"Are you Darrel Curtis?"
"Yeah," he responded pulling the door open wider.
"Is there a Jonathan Cade here?"
"Yeah that's him," he said pointing towards the shaken teen.
"Alright son lets go." Johnny was petrified, he couldn't move if he wanted to.
"And what if he don't want to?" Dallas asked in a monotone.
"I'd advise you to be quiet Winston. You're already in enough trouble down at the station." Getting Dally in trouble was the last thing Johnny wanted to do so he rose slowly to his feet.
"What are you doing?" Dallas asked shocked. "It's ok I just don't wana cause you any trouble."
"I'll be fine."
"Dally, just let me go," he pleaded with a pained look in his eye.
"Smart boy. Alright come on," the officer commanded.
"Wait, where is it you're taking him?" Pony asked.
"We've got a family on the other side of town who foster kids during situations like this."
"Well I guess I'll see you guys later then," Johnny said weakly.
With that the two stepped out of the house and got into the police car. Johnny was shaking like a leaf and would of gave anything for a smoke right then. They had been in the car for about 5 minutes when something occurred to him. If where he was going was on the other side of town it was a soc's house.
"What's the name of the family I'm going to be staying with?" He asked.
"Valance."
