"Um… Solor? Not that I'm questioning you or something… but how does sitting here doing nothing help me with controlling my powers?"

Terra and Solor were currently outside of the tower at the end of a bright, sunny day. The sun was just beginning to set, and the two were at the rocky formation where the others had first met her. Currently, the dragon was in his human form, his eyes closed and his legs crossed as he took a deep breath.

"I did some asking about mental training", Solor said. "My people have enough power to hold back a great deal of energy before it becomes too dangerous and needs to be let out. Humans, on the other hand, do not have the capacity to do so. Raven suggested we both meditate in order to understand ourselves and the nature of our powers more."

"So, I can't just throw rocks around or something?" Terra said, stretching a bit. "I mean, we did a lot of that today. Why do we have to stop the fun stuff?"

"Because in order to master anything, you have to accept the good alongside the bad", the dragon responded. "Now, sit down, and relax."

Terra grumbled a bit, but eventually sat down next to her friend. She began to focus at first, but a nagging question soon disrupted her concentration. Eventually, she couldn't hold back, and asked what was on her mind. "Um… if you don't mind me asking… what was that you did with Slade a few days ago?"

Solor opened his eyes, and looked at Terra. He then looked up at the sky, which was beginning to be dotted with the tiny lights known as stars. "Tell me, Terra… what do you believe put us here?"

"Look, if this is starting to become a religious debate, I'm sorry I asked."

He laughed at her witty comeback, and shook his head. "No, no, nothing like that. Just… my powers are derived from ancient times, before the world was completely formed. Allow me to explain.

"In the beginning, there was nothing. The elements waged war with one another, mindlessly destroying everything in their path in order to become the supreme. It was on this rock of chaos that the one who created all… your english word is Alpha, as we call him, came to our world and settled the elements with ease. He blessed this world with the seven elements of the world today, before leaving them alone to shape the world in their image."

"What elements are you talking about?"

"The three basic elements of the world, which you call Earth, Fire, and Water, and the four elements of the supernatural, known as Life and Death, Darkness and Light, which cannot exist without their counterpart. Despite their differences, these seven aspects were able to bring all of the world into order… for the most part.

"At one point, Darkness decided to play a trick on the Earth, and brought forth the destruction of an entire part of the mountains and valleys that had been sculpted with great care. The remnants floated away, and became the Moon we know today. Needless to say, Earth wasn't happy with what happened, and blamed the others, sparking another war between all seven once again. Eventually, it was the Light that brought their attention to the damage all of the others were creating, ending it. In order to prevent such destruction from happening again, the elements decided to slumber, no longer able to freely roam this world. But they did leave their blessing behind. You can see it in the form of the animals that we live with, the people we associate with, and our very own powers. Some are more blessed than others, and that lead to our abilities that we have today."

Terra stared at Solor, her jaw dropping. "Whoa… so, you're saying that our powers come from these… elements? That it's because of them I can control the earth?"

"And why I can control the light within me", Solor confirmed. "And like you, I needed to go through rigorous training before I could even begin to hold it back. You're already better off than I am… now we need to figure out the final key that will unlock full control of the earth for you."

At that very moment, Solor's communicator went off, and he couldn't help but groan a bit. "Ah… you distracted me enough that someone decided to cut our session short today." He looked at the blonde, smiling lightly. "Keep what I said in your heart, Terra. You've been blessed for a reason."

With that, the dragon flew off back towards the tower, leaving the geomancer to her own devices. After all, she was still in training.

"GAAAOW!"

It had certainly been an eventful night. Turns out the alarm had been set off by a freak with a spider for a head. Who also had paralysis venom. Which apparently Solor was not immune to. Robin elected that Beast Boy, Cyborg, Raven, and himself would continue the search for the jewel thief that had slipped away, while Starfire opted to take Solor home and help him recover.

"GAH! Would you watch where you push your elbow? My wings are delicate, Starfire!"

"I apologize", the alien said. "Usually, there is little that Tamaranean acupressure will not solve. I suppose it is because of your strength that you are able to resist its healing methods." She decided to be a bit more gentle, and gently began rubbing his wings, which elicited a strange sound from the dragon. "Solor… are you purring?"

"W-What? No!" he protested, before she ran her fingers along his wings again, which caused him to growl happily again. "Grrr… stop that!"

"But it is so cute! I never knew you react like that when someone touches your wings!" She then eyed his tail, and began reaching for it before he suddenly sat up, moving out of her grasp.

"How odd!" he said, chuckling nervously. "I seem to be free from the paralysis! Thank you, Starfire!" He quickly pulled out his communicator, contacting Robin. "Did you find the jewel thief? Please tell me you found the jewel thief."

"Something worse", the leader responded. "We need you both here, right now!" As he spoke, Solor noticed something in the background.

"… is that a giant moth?"

"Yes, Solor. That's a giant moth."

"Right. We are on our way."

"Don't bother", a new voice said, coming from the tower computer. Immediately on screen came the image of a very realistic looking moth mask, with jagged teeth and fur on the shoulders. "Even if you defeat a few of my children, you won't be able to stop me from releasing the entire swarm." The camera zoomed back, revealing the silhouettes of hundreds of those mutated moths. "Unless you want your city to become a moth-eaten wasteland, you will do exactly as I say."

Solor growled, stepping forward. "What is it you wish?"

Killer moth seemed to smirk under his mask. "My demands are simple. The city will declare me ruler, the Teen Titans will surrender, and Robin… will take this lovely young lady to her junior prom."

At those last words, another face appeared on the screen, this one a much more human-looking teen with blonde hair. "Hi, Robby-poo!" she screeched, waving at the two of them.

Solor decided to extinguish her enthusiasm. "I am afraid that Robin is not here. He is out there, being attacked by your MOTHS."

At the sound of his voice, the girl suddenly seemed to notice Solor. "Ooh… how exotic… much better than Fang!" She turned, facing the madman. "DADDY! I changed my mind! I want HIM now!"

"Do I not get a say in this? I do not even know you."

"Her name is Kitten", Killer Moth said, growling. "And ROBIN is supposed to take her to prom."

"Not anymore!" Kitten declared. "He's much cooler looking than Robin! He'll drive Fang crazy and make him regret ever dumping me for the rest of his life!"

"This prom", Starfire questioned, flying up to the screen, "it is some sort of duel, yes? Solor eagerly accepts!"

Solor shook his head, reaching up and grabbing Starfire by the ankle before pulling her back down. "Excuse her… and myself. We are not used to human customs. What exactly is this… prom, was it?"

"You don't know what prom is?" Kitten said, sounding flabbergasted. She eventually shook off the shocked look on her face and screeched, "It's a date, you idiot!"

At the word, all hell broke loose. At least, to a certain alien, anyway.

"HE DOES NOT ACCEPT!" Starfire declared, getting into Kitten's face. "DO YOU HEAR ME?! SOLOR DOES NOT ACCEPT!"

Solor lightly pinched the bridge of his nose, before grabbing Starfire's ankle yet again, and pulling her out of the room. "We need a minute." As soon as they left the living room, Starfire returned to the ground, going on a tirade over how Killer Moth was a mad-man who was catering to that girl's whims for no good reason. Solor pulled out his communicator, calling up Cyborg. "How are you handling things?"

"Not well!" came Cyborg's reply, as the legs of the mutated moths narrowly avoided his face. "We're not gonna last much longer! If you're gonna do something, do it now!"

The dragon of light frowned, and finally interrupted Starfire's ranting with three words. "I have to."

"WHAT?!" Starfire yelled. "You cannot be serious!"

"Starfire, there are innocent people that could be seriously hurt because of these moths… or worse, killed. And I cannot risk losing so many lives because I do not want to go on a… date, as you call it. It goes against what my people do for courtship, but I have no choice."

Solor ignored her sputtering as he entered the room, looking a little dejected. "The tradition is that the male asks the female for courtship, correct?" After a nod from the madman, Solor turned to the girl. "Kitten, was it?" He shuddered as she only meowed in response, but held his ground. "Would you… go to prom with me?"

"Oh, Solly-poo, I thought you'd never ask!" After getting the information that he needed for the prom, the communication was cut, and the leader of the Titans began calling them, asking what happened.

"I have managed to buy you some time", Solor replied, sitting at the computer. Ever since Blorthog, Cyborg pretty much forced him to learn how to use a computer, so now Solor could look up the information he needed. "Killer Moth is the mastermind behind these attacks. The only link we have to him is a human girl named Kitten, who I believe is his daughter. You shall need to check out her recorded address, along with Starfire, who shall join you." He heard said alien letting out an irritated "hmph", and shot her an apologetic look.

"What about you?" said Cyborg, raising an eyebrow. "Aren't you gonna join us?"

"I cannot", Solor said, shaking his head. He then proceeded to explain what happened and what he had to do to save the city from Killer Moth's wrath at the moment.

"Ouch", Beast Boy said, wincing. "I don't envy you."

"Solor, you don't know a lot about dating, do you?" Robin asked, while Cyborg looked like he was biting back laughter.

"No, I do not", Solor said. "For my people, life is hard, and everyone dedicates their lives for the betterment of the tribe. Therefore, we have few privileges such as dating. All relationships are determined once you reach adulthood."

"Well, I'll give you some tips so you won't make her mad", Robin said. "And I think I have a tuxedo that you can wear in my room."

Solor nodded. "Thank you, Robin. I will make sure not to ruin it… but I will have to wear it without switching to my human form. I think she likes my scales… she did say they made me look… exotic."

"She must have really bad taste", Cyborg said, earning a chuckle from Beast Boy. "I wouldn't be surprised if her ex-boyfriend was a furry."

"What's a… furry?"

"… I'll explain later. You have a dance to get to."

XxXxX

Solor grumbled, as he adjusted the cuffs on his tux. He had to tie his long hair back into a ponytail, so that it wouldn't look too wild. He could have shifted his hair so that it was shorter, but he liked his long hair, so in the end, he added the accessory. He had to hide his wings and tail in order to avoid damaging the suit that he was borrowing, and even shortened his claws lightly in order to avoid hurting anyone, especially Kitten.

"I hope she does not show…" Solor growled lightly. "I do not dance very well…" At that moment, he felt someone tap his shoulder, and he stiffened, before turning around slowly. As soon as he saw who it was, his jaw dropped. "S-Starfire?"

The alien nodded, smiling softly at him. Instead of wearing her usual outfit, she opted to wear a pink spaghetti strap dress that went down to her ankles. Her feet were adorned in matching high heels, and she wore white gloves instead of her usual metallic gauntlets. "I believe it is tradition to wear a dead plant on occasions such as this?" she said, walking up to him and pinning a white rose to his tuxedo.

"Starfire, I thought you were going to investigate Killer Moth and Kitten with the others?" Solor asked, glad that he wasn't in his human form, or else the blood rushing to his face would be a bit more obvious.

"You said to investigate the girl", Starfire said, winking. "And besides, you may need saving. She could be some sort of slime monster in disguise. She certainly is ugly like a monster."

At that, Solor smiled at his friend. She always knew what to say to cheer him up. And he had to admit, he was a lot happier that he'd have her as backup in case anything went a little dicey.

Speaking of dicey, that was when a pink stretch limo arrived, and the girl in charge stepped out, spotting him instantly. "Yoo-hoo, Solly-poo! Your Kitten has arrived! Me-ow!" she said, waving him over.

At that, Solor's face soured, and he grumbled a bit. "I probably would be better off with a monster", he muttered to his friend, before approaching the girl. Before she could say anything, he offered her his arm. "Hello, Kitten. You look very pretty tonight."

His words obviously surprised her, because she did not take it right away. But eventually, she did grab a hold of his arm, glaring. "What are you up to?" she said. "If you think sweet talking me will get Daddy to keep his moths under control, you're dead wrong."

"I am planning nothing", he said innocently. "I am merely honoring my part of the deal. And if I am an unsatisfactory date, that would give your father more incentive to destroy the city."

Kitten blinked, then frowned even more. "You talk weird, you know that?"

"I apologize; English is not my first language."

As the two went inside, Starfire couldn't help but glare, then smashed her fist hard into the limo, causing it to tilt toward the front, before the back wheels slowly fell back to the ground as a large, fist-shaped dent was left in the metal of the engine.

The night went rather well, surprisingly. Solor was always polite, offered to get drinks for Kitten, and danced every slow dance that she wanted, much to Starfire's chagrin. He put up with every demand she made, and not once did she ever have to threaten the destruction of Jump City. All in all, he was the perfect date.

And for some reason that pissed Kitten off.

"Why are you being so nice?" she hissed at him. "I could just call my daddy and have him destroy the city. And you haven't once called your friends to tell them to look for him."

His answer was probably surprising.

"Kitten, I will admit, I would rather be doing anything besides dancing with you. But from what I have been told, prom is a very important night for young women such as yourself. This suit itches, I cannot dance very well, and my friends are doing what they can without me. But I need to protect this city, and if that means making tonight the best night of your life, then that is what I will do."

Those words hit her hard. Kitten never expected anyone to be so open and honest with her. Not even her ex-boyfriend was willing to do so much for her without wanting something back. Sure, Solor did admit he didn't like her, but he was willing to make her happy despite that. Her lip quivered lightly, and she suddenly stopped dancing. She reached into her corsage, pulling out a small device and handing it to him. "Here", she said weakly. "Take it. It's the activation switch for the moths." She then turned and ran off, tears starting to stream from her eyes, confusing the hell out of him.

Starfire approached next, looking a little relieved. "What did you do?" she asked, looking slightly confused as well. "She just… left, for no reason."

"I think I was a little too nice…" he replied, looking at the activator. "Starfire… I know you do not like her, but could you check on her?"

"What?!" Starfire asked, looking like she had just been slapped. "Why would you want me to check on that horrid little girl?!"

"Because I am not sure she is really that bad", came his reply. "I think she has just been with the wrong people all of her life… and cannot handle being treated with kindness."

At first, Starfire looked at him with anger, and was about to say no… until she looked into his eyes. She didn't see the anger that he had when he first had to start this date… he was genuinely concerned about the girl. And despite her hatred of the blonde brat, Starfire couldn't help but sigh. "Alright… if you say so. But if she says or does anything wrong, I will take her to jail myself."

Solor smiled, and pulled her into a hug, making the alien blush. "Thank you, Starfire."

XxXxX

Kitten sniffled as she looked into the mirror at the boat. She had fled into one of the bathrooms nearby, and couldn't help but frown as she thought about Solor.

"What is wrong with me?" she said, shaking her head. "Why is what that stupid Titan said bugging me so much?"

"Perhaps because what he said is the honest truth", came another voice, and Kitten wasn't surprised to see Starfire in the reflection of the mirror.

"What do you want?" she asked bitterly. "You already got what you wanted. The city's safe, your friend doesn't have to date me anymore. Just leave me alone."

"If I had a choice, I would strike you down where you stand", Starfire said coldly, her eyes flashing. "Forcing Solor to take you on a date… it is unethical and deplorable. But… he asked me to check on you, to make sure you were emotionally stable."

"Oh yeah, I'm just peachy", Kitten said, glaring at the alien. "I just got told that my night is going to be perfect and exactly the way I wanted… and suddenly, it's not what I want anymore." She sighed, feeling the anger ebb away as she thought more. "I've been around jerks my whole life. People wanting to use me for my money, or my popularity, or because they're just plain scared of me. Not Solor, though… he's been completely honest with me from the start. He knows that with just a word, I could have this entire city turn into bug food… but it's like he doesn't care about that. He just… wanted to see me happy, no matter what."

Starfire sighed, glaring a bit. "Well, Solor is a lot nicer than most of the people of this city see. He is not so emotionless… he is not uncaring."

"And now that I have someone who wants to make me happy… I don't feel like I deserve to be happy." Kitten sniffled a bit as more tears began forming in her eyes. "It's like… everything I grew up thinking was wrong."

At that, Starfire finally had enough. "Kitten, you are not a nice person… but Solor thinks you could be. And giving us that device… it was a step in the right direction. But you still blackmailed and threatened the city for petty reasons, and for that, you must pay for your crimes."

"I know."

"Do not make this- wait, what?"

Kitten turned to Starfire, and held up her hands. "I surrender. Go ahead and take me to jail."

To say Starfire wasn't surprised was certainly a lie. She never expected such a terrible, mean-spirited person to just… give up like that. "Why?"

"Because… I am a terrible person", Kitten replied. "But I want to be better. I want people to like me because I'm me… not because of what I have, or who my daddy is." For once, the girl had a sincere smile on her face. "I want to be the girl that your friend treated me like."

Starfire couldn't help but smile, a little flabbergasted. "It seems that Solor has quite a way with words… although, truth be told, I have never known him to be this calm." She began thinking. "Perhaps those words have more meaning to him than he is letting on…"

XxXxX

As Starfire left to check on Kitten, Solor couldn't help but frown, as he sat down. He began thinking about his behavior as of late, and found himself… lacking in certain emotions or behaviors.

"I have not threatened Beast Boy in weeks… I allowed myself to be coerced into those computer lessons with Cyborg… even Robin is annoying me less and less." He gripped his head a bit, growling. "I am getting soft. These humans and Starfire are making me… different. I need a good fight to get back in the swing of things. Problem is, I have to stay here while the others are probably fighting Killer Moth… I have the worst luck, do I not?"

"HEY!"

At that word, Solor's head snapped up, and he was surprised to see the jewel thief that had poisoned him earlier that night. "Huh? What are you doing here?"

"The better question is what the hell are you doing here with my girl?" the spider-headed freak growled, slowly approaching the Titan. From what Solor could tell, this guy was pissed, and obviously wasn't going to back off without a fight.

Solor could only grin with vicious glee. "So, a challenge? So be it!" With a simple swipe of his claws, the tux Solor was wearing was ripped off, revealing his usual t-shirt and shorts combo underneath. He let his wings and tail grow before he suddenly charged, avoiding the streams of web being shot at him.

Fang, on the other hand, suddenly realized the folly he had made. Solor was a very strong teen, keeping up with Starfire without difficulty. And the only reason he was able to escape was because the dragon hadn't known about his paralyzing venom. Needless to say, he was out of aces in the hole.

"Ah, crap…"

XxXxX

It hadn't taken long for the police to be called. Fang and Killer Moth were both subdued and sent to jail. As for Kitten, the dragon personally pardoned her from her involvement, saying that in the end, she did the right thing and had voluntarily surrendered the control of the mutated moths… which were now mutated larva. Beast Boy made a comment about how these creatures could make good pets, but it was ignored by the team, who were focusing on the dragon and his date for the night.

"So, what shall you do?", Solor asked. "Despite his… insane outlook on life, Killer Moth was your only guardian in the city."

"I'll probably move to another town, live with one of my relatives", the girl replied, shrugging. "Hopefully none of them have plans on taking over their city or something like that… I've had enough bugs for one lifetime."

Solor chuckled, then looked the car where Fang was sitting, glaring at him. "Speaking of which, I am sorry for injuring your boyfriend as I did. He caught me at a bad moment."

"Oh, please. That jerk deserved it", Kitten waved off. "Anyway, I better head home and get packing… and Solor?" The dragon was surprised as the blonde approached him and gently pecked his cheek. "Thanks for being a good guy. Whoever you end up with is going to be one lucky girl."

As Kitten walked away, Solor could practically hear the steam roaring out of Starfire's ears, and sighed as he turned to the Tamaranean, and suddenly grabbed her wrist. She let out a surprised "eep" as she was dragged onto the dance floor. As if reading his mind, the DJ started playing another slow song, allowing the dragon to look at her and smile. "So… would you like to dance?"

For the umpteenth time that night, Starfire looked very surprised. But this time, she couldn't help but smile happily as she took his hand, and placed it on her waist. The two began to dance the night away, while the other Titans watched with varying interest.

Robin was seething with hidden rage, glaring at the dragon with an intense fire in his eyes.

Raven only let out a small smile, happy that Starfire wasn't going to be bugging her as much anymore.

Beast Boy leaned next to Cyborg and whispered, "How much longer before you think they'll start dating?"

"Probably just after Robin blows up and forbids Solor from ever getting near Starfire", the robot replied, glad that the leader was too preoccupied with his own jealousy to listen to them.
