Chapter Four

Forget Wheatley? Forget the great moments and the golden laughs? Forget the blonde hair and blue eyes that I had loved fallen in love with, and forget his personality that I adore and the clumsiness that always made me smile?

Oh god I'm doing it again!

"I..." I hesitated, " I don't know..."

"It's your choice..." GLaDOS said, "Forget him completely, or live with the pain of his memory..."

I looked down grimly at the pillow in my hand, "I'm sorry Wheatley.." I whispered, tears pricking in my eyes.

I back up at the camera, "Okay." I said harshly, "Fine. I'll do it. I'll forget Wheatley."

"Perfect."

I stared down the elevator shaft leading to Aperture.

"You ready?" Chell asked.

I nodded, then made my way down the emergency ladder.

"This man is evil, alright Cara?" GLaDOS said, holding up a picture of Wheatley.

Cara nodded.

"if you are ever to see him, You must run the other way. Do you understand?"

"What will happen if he catches me?"

"He will do unspeakably horrible things to you."

"Why?"

"Just promise that you'll run the other direction, Cara."

"Yes GLaDOS..."

"Good." GLaDOS said right before the intruder alarm went off.

She immediately turned to Anger, "Anger! Take her to her room! Now!"

Anger nodded, grabbing Cara and running to her room.

"hmm? What's going on...?"

"Intruders."

"you don't have to carry me though," She said, a small tint of red appearing on her cheeks.

He smirked, "You don't run fast enough. Besides, I want to carry you."

They got to Cara's room and Anger set her down on her bed, "Just...get some rest, okay?" he said, beginning to walk out.

"Wait!" she said, looking up at him with pleading eyes, "Please... stay... I'm scared..."

He smiled down at her, " Alright." He walked towards Cara's bed, laying beside her.

Cara cuddled up to his chest, smiling as she fell asleep. Anger held her close. He kissed the top of her head gently.

"I will stay by you...forever."

Wheatley and Chell quickly bounded through Aperture, their feet thundering against the cold, black catwalks. The sweat of both nervousness and from heat beaded from their brows. Fatigue had kicked in an hour ago, but they didn't stop.

"Cara's dorm should be around this corner!" Wheatley said, turning a corner. Chell followed.

Wheatley stopped, panting.

"Here... we are..." he said, wheezing, "Cara's room is...The last one...to the right.."

Chell ran to the door. Wheatley got up and followed.

Cara sat on the bed. Anger had long since left because GLaDOS had summoned him. So she was waiting for him to return. Suddenly, she heard the door swing open.

"Anger...?"

"Cara!" She heard her mother say.

Cara let out a gasp of surprise, She spun around and tackle hugged her mother.

"M-mom!" She said, tears in her eyes.

"Cara!" Chell sobbed, "I thought I lost you!"

cara's mother let go of her just as Wheatley came into the room.

"Cara!"

Cara stood there, frozen in fear. When he approached her, she ran past him, out the door.

He stood there for a minute, processing what had just happened. Why was she running? She seemed so afraid. Wheatley, confused, shook his head and ran after her.

"Cara! Cara come back! It's me!"

Suddenly, Cara tripped and fell to the ground. She wasn't hurt, but it made Wheatley catch up to her. She stood up just as Wheatley caught up to her. She turned to run again, but he grabbed her by the wrist before she could.

"Let go of me!"

"Cara! I-it's me!" he said, "It's Wheatley!"

"I d-don't know who you are!" Cara said, struggling.

"You don't remember me?" He said, pulling her closer, their noses almost touching, "Maybe you'll remember this."

Wheatley suddenly smashed his lips to hers, his eyes flutter closed. A small smile crept across his face; this had been the moment he had longed to have for months.

Cara, on the other hand, stood there in sheer horror. Her eyes were wide as tears escaped from them. She tried to pull herself fro him, but he was too strong. So she stood there, sobbing.

Wheatley pulled away, noticing her tears, "What's wrong?" he asked, loosening his grip, "You still don't remember me?"

"I don't know who the hell you are!" she said, "Leave me alone!" She broke free from his grip and sprinted towards GLaDOS's room.

"GLaDOS!" She said, bursting into the room, "H-he's here! I-i saw him and did what you said, and h-he caught me ...a-and he kissed me!"

"Cara, calm down." She said, "who's here?"

"Th-that man! Wh-wheatley!"

GlaDOS stayed silent, thinking. Right on time. Her plan was working like clockwork. This was just too perfect. They were both here, and there would be nothing stopping her from killing the two once and for all.

"Cara, listen to me carefully..." she said.

Cara nodded.

"I need you to go find Anger, and tell him that you love him."

She eyed her, wondering what that would have to do with the situation, "Alright...where is he?"

"he's in the room to the right of me."

Cara nodded, running through the doorway and closing the door behind her.

As soon as she saw Anger, she threw herself onto him.

"Anger!" She said.

"H-hey!" He said, obviously startled by her sudden appearance, "What are you doing here, babe?"

"I have to tell you something!" She said in maximum urgency.

"What is it, what's wrong?!"

"I love you!"

His gaze began to soften, then his eyes widened.

"What's wrong...?"

He smiled sadly, "Nothing, babe... I just...gotta go..." He let go of her, "Stay here..."

He rushed out the door.

Oh god... He thought, that was the code word... that means that... I have to... He gulped, shaking his head, no! I won't do that to Cara!

"I won't do it!" He said to GLaDOS.

"Yes you will" She said coldly, "you know you will."

Angered growled, "If she ever found out that I'm supposed to kill them... she'd... she'd.."

"She's not going to find out..." GLaDOS said, "I'll make sure of it."

He gulped, trying to steady his breathing. Sweat beaded from his brow. He had to do this. It was the only way that him and Cara could ever be happy together.

He sighed, "do I need to do it now?"

"Yes."

He sighed again, then ran out the door.

I'm sorry, Cara. he thought, But I need to do this.
