Episode 64: The Dragon Lord

Yuni is walking up a long flight of stairs, above him is the castle of the Dragon King. It is a pitch black castle, with eerie clouds floating around the tallest spires. All around the castle, dragons are weaving in and out of the various towers. Yuni thinks, This tower is a lot bigger up close. He makes it to the top of the stairs. He is in front of two massive doors. Yuni wonders, Alright…how do I get in?

Yugi jokes, You could always knock.

Yuni shrugs and walks up to the door and knocks. Within a few moments the doors swing open.

Yugi says surprised, Wait…that actually worked?

A voice announces, "Who dares to come to the castle of the Dragon King?"

Yuni announces back, "I am Yuni Oha! I have come to defeat the Dragon King and end his reign of tyranny!"

The voice comments, "You are either very bold or very foolish, boy." A shadowy figure appears in the doorway. "If you seek to get in the castle, you must first defeat me in a duel."

Yuni raises his Duel Gauntlet and says, "Then you're on, because it's duel on!"

The shadowy figure steps forward into the light. He is revealed to be the duel monster, the Lord of D. He is wearing an ornate, dragon themed Duel Gauntlet. He says, "Then prepare to duel." Both activate their Duel Gauntlets. Lord of D. says, "As the guardian of the Dragon King, I will go first." He draws. "I summon the Lord of D. (Dark/Level 4/Spellcaster/Effect/ATK 1200/DEF 1100)." A duplicate of Lord of D. appears in front of him.

Yuni comments, Whoa, I think I'm seeing double.

Lord of D. continues, "Now I'll tribute it in order to special summon the Master of D. (Dark/Level 6/Spellcaster/Effect/ATK 2300/DEF 1200)!" The Lord of D. on the field is replaced by a similar monster, but with armor made of golden dragon bones. He continues, "When I summon Master of D., I can add one Flute card from my deck to my hand. I'll add the Flute of Calling Dragons, which I shall immediately activate. This card allows me to add two Dragon type monsters from my deck to my hand, but only if I control a Lord of D."

Yuni complains, "But you don't control a Lord of D.!"

"My Master of D. has the ability to take on the name of Lord of D. while he's on the field or the in the graveyard. Now, play your flute!" The monster grabs hold of a blue flute shaped like a dragon, and blows on it. Two cards are added to the Lord of D.'s hand. "Now I'll activate the Flute of Summoning Dragons, and summon the two dragons that I just called upon." The blue flute is replaced by a gold one. "I summon the Blue-Eyes White Dragon (Light/Level 8/Dragon/Normal/ATK 3000/DEF 2500) and the Red-Eyes Black Dragon (Dark/Level 7/Dragon/Normal/ATK 2400/DEF 2000)!" The two dragons appear on the field on either side of the Master of D.

Yuni exclaims, "Those are two of the most legendary dragons of all time! How'd you get your hands on them?!"

Lord of D. responds, "I am the Lord of Dragons, I command all dragons!"

Yugi reminds, Don't forget, this is only a computer program.

Oh, yeah.

The Lord of D. finishes, "Now that I've assembled my clan of dragons, I end my turn (Lord of D.'s hand: 3)."

Yuni draws a card. He says, "Let's fight dragons with dragons! I activate Cyber-Tech Teleportation! Since I control no monsters, and you control at least two, I can special summon a level seven or lower Cyber-Tech monster from my hand. I'll special Cyber-Tech Dragoon (Fire/Level 6/Dragon/Effect/ATK 2000/DEF 1700)! When I special summon this monster, I can add a Polymerization from my deck to my hand. I'll then activate Polymerization in order to fuse my Dragoon with the Cyber-Tech Illumi-Dragon in my hand in order to Fusion Summon Cyber-Tech Double Dragoon (Light/Level 9/Dragon/Fusion/ATK 3100/DEF 1700)!" The new monster's body is split half and half split between the designs of the two dragons used to summon it. It has two heads, one is the head of Dragoon, and the other the head of Illumi-Dragon. "Now Double Dragoon, attack the Red-Eyes Black Dragon, Double Flare Attack!" The head of Dragoon breathes fire, and the Illumi-Dragon releases a beam of light. The two attacks merge and swirl around each other. The attack hit's the opponent's dragon (Lord of D.' LP: 3300). Yuni continues, "When Double Dragoon destroys a monster by battle, it can automatically destroy another monster with its effect! Destroy the Blue-Eyes White Dragon!" Yuni's monster releases another attack at the Blue-Eyes, but as soon as it's about to hit, it suddenly dissipates, as if hitting an invisible shield. Yuni demands, "What happened!?"

Lord of D. answers, "The effect of Master of D. prevents all of my dragons from being targeted or destroyed by card effects."

"Fine then. I set two cards and end my turn (Yuni's hand: 1)

Brutus and Zenith are in the same run down village that Yuni was in earlier. Brutus comments, "Something's up, everyone seems to be avoiding us."

Zenith jokes, "I don't know, maybe it's your face."

"Hey, what's wrong with my face?"

Zenith smiles. "Oh…I don't know. Just a suggestion."

From behind them, someone calls, "Brutus, Zenith, over here!"

The two turn around to see Tori running up from behind. Brutus shouts back, "Hey Tori, how's it going?"

Tori catches up with them and says, "I'm doing pretty well. Taken some damage, but you know, it happens."

Brutus nods, "Yeah, I know what you're talking about."

"So have you guys figured out the point of this town yet?"

Zenith shakes his head. "Nope, nothing at all. Everyone's avoiding us."

A nearby voice says, "Hmm…I see that you are not from around here" The three look to the side and see the old man with a cane that talked to Yuni. He continues, "We've been having quite a few strangers come our way recently.

Tori says, "Have you really?"

The old man nods. "Yes, actually only a little while ago a young man with some freaky yellow hair came by. That stuff was so spiky, he could have impaled someone."

The three look at each other. Brutus asks, "Do you know where he went?"

The man nods and points to the castle. "Yes, he went to the castle of the Dragon King."

The three run off. Tori shouts back, "Thank you sir!"

The old man smiles in satisfaction and says to himself, "I didn't even have to ask those kids. How perfect."

Back at the duel, the Lord of D. draws. He declares, "I summon the King of D. (Dark/Level 4/Spellcaster/Effect/ATK 1200/1100)!" The next monster once again resembles the Lord of D., except the bones that make its armor are silver. "As long as I control the King of D., attacks cannot be declared against a Dragon type monster that I control, and it too counts as a Lord of D. while on the field or in the grave."

Yuni says in shock, "But wait, that means that your dragons can't be destroyed by battle or by card effects!"

"Exactly the point. Next I'll activate the Flute of Reviving Dragons! This card special summons a Dragon type monster from my grave, of course I must control a Lord of D. to activate it." The King of D. wields a black dragon shaped flute and plays it. "I revive the Red-Eyes Black Dragon!" Red-Eyes returns to the field. "I'll play another flute! I activate the Flute of Charming Dragons! This flute's tune can seduce any dragon and give control of them to me!" The Master of D. grabs hold of a white flute and plays it. Yuni's Cyber-Tech Double Dragoon sways back and forth to the tune of the music.

Yuni declares, "Not so fast, I activate a counter trap card, Cyber-Tech Intervention! This card negates the effect of a card that targets a Cyber-Tech monster!" A barrier appears around Cyber-Tech Double Dragoon, and it stops swaying, as if the music can no longer be heard. The flute in in Master of D.'s hand shatters.

Lord of D. appears to not care. He says, "Fine then, I'll activate the Flute of Drawing Dragons! This card allows me to draw a card for every Dragon type monster on the field, including yours!" Master of D. takes hold of a silver flute and plays it. Lord of D. draws three cards. "My next flute will be the Flute of Empowering Dragons! This card increases the attack of all Dragons type monster I control by 500 until the end of my turn." King of D. wields a red dragon flute and plays several notes. A surge of energy covers each of Lord of D.'s dragons (Blue-Eyes' ATK: 3500) (Red-Eyes' ATK: 2900). Lord of D. declares, "Now, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, attack Cyber-Tech Double Dragoon with White Lightning!" Blue-Eyes unleashes a burst of white energy at Yuni's monster, destroying it (Yuni's LP: 4100).

Yuni declares, "When Double Dragoon is sent to the grave, I can special summon both of its Fusion Materials from the grave in defense mode, but their effects are negated, and they can't change their battle position." Cyber-Tech Dragoon (Fire/Level 6/Dragon/Effect/ATK 2000/DEF 1700) and Cyber-Tech Illumi-Dragon (Light/Level 8/Dragon/Effect/ATK 2800/DEF 0) both appear on the field in a defensive stance.

Lord of D. says without pause, "Master of D., attack and destroy Cyber-Tech Dragoon!" Master of D. waves its hands around and a golden dragon made of energy appears above it. The energy-dragon breathes golden flames at Yuni's monster, destroying it. "Now King of D., destroy the Illumi-Dragon!" King of D. launches the same attack, only with a silver energy-dragon, and destroys Yuni's last monster. "Now Red-Eyes Black Dragon, attack directly with Inferno Fire Blast!" Red-Eyes unleashes a fiery ball of destruction.

Just as the attacks about to hit, Yuni declares, "I activate Last Minute Recharge! This card negates your direct attack, and then allows me to draw a card for every other attack that you've declared this turn!" A barrier appears around Yuni and blocks the attack. Yuni then draws three cards.

Lord of D. says, "After setting a card, I conclude my turn (Lord of D.'s hand: 1)."

Brutus, Tori, and Zenith are climbing the stairs to the Castle of the Dragon King. Tori is smoothly walking with Zenith behind her, but Brutus is lagging behind, panting and looking extremely exhausted. He pants, "Why…must…these…stairs…be…so…long…"

Tori says, "Oh come on Brutus, quit complaining, we're almost there."

After a few more moments Zenith points to the top of the stairs and shouts excitedly, "Hey look, it's Yuni! He's in a duel!"

Brutus instantly perks up and shouts, "Oh, where!?" He looks up and sees Yuni dueling the Lord of D. Brutus shouts, "Here I come Yuni!" In burst of new found energy Brutus runs up the remaining stairs.

Tori and Zenith exchange looks and follow behind. They make it up to the top just in time to see Yuni declaring, "I draw!" He looks to the side to see his friends arriving at the top of the stairs and smiles at them. He says, "You guys got here just in time." He returns his attention to his cards. "I summon Cyber-Tech Prime (Light/Level 1/Machine/Effect/ATK 0/DEF 0)! Now by tributing it, I can special summon a level seven or higher Cyber-Tech monster from my hand, such as Cyber-Tech Magician (Dark/Level 7/Spellcaster/Effect/ATK 2500/DEF 2100)! Your strategy might be strong, but there is one weakness, while you focus on protecting all of your dragons, your dragon lords are unprotected! Cyber-Tech Magician, unleash your Cyber Magic Attack on the King of D.!" Yuni's magician lets loose its burst of magical energy.

Lord of D. objects, "Not so fast! Because you're wrong! I activate my facedown card, Protector of D.! As long as I control this card, you can't declare an attack against my Lord of D. monsters!" Cyber-Tech Magician's attack is cancelled.

Yuni says in annoyance, "Fine, I'll just have to set a card and end my turn Yuni's hand: 2)."

Lord of D. draws and says, "One can not hope to defeat a master of dragons such as I. I have lived my entire life with dragons, and devoted it to learning how to best utilize them. Dragons are some of the mightiest beasts, and I have full control over them! Now I tribute my King of D. and Master of D. in order to summon an even greater dragon master! I summon the Overlord of D. (Dark/Level 8/Spellcaster/Effect/ATK 3200/DEF 3100)!" The monster is similar to the previous ones, but it is taller, and instead of dragon bones, its armor appears more like a life-like dragon, with gold and silver scales. "In addition to its name counting as Lord of D., my new monster has the combined abilities of my previous two. As long as I control it, you can not target or destroy my Dragon type monsters with card effects, nor can you declare an attack against them."

Yuni looks disgruntled.

Brutus comments, "That's a really powerful effect. I don't know how Yuni's going to overcome it." Tori smacks Brutus in the side. Brutus complains, "Ow…that hurt. Why'd you hit me?"

Tori says, "Come on Brutus, we're supposed to be cheering Yuni on."

Brutus shrugs and says, "Hey, I'm just calling them as I see them."

Lord of D. continues, "Now I'll activate a second copy of Flute of Drawing Dragons!" Overlord of D. plays its flute and the Lord of D. draws two cards. "Now I activate the other effect of Overlord of D., once per turn I can special summon a Dragon type monster from either my hand or grave. I special summon the Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon (Light/Level 8/Dragon/Effect/ATK 3000/DEF 2500)! To finish off my ultimate draconic force, I activate the Flute of Teleporting Dragons! This is one of my most special flutes, by paying 500 life points I can special summon one Dragon type monster from my Extra Deck (Lord of D.'s LP: 2800)!" The Overlord of D. is equipped with a dragon-shaped flute that is colored purple, white, and black. "I summon Number 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon (Light/Rank 8/Dragon/Xyz/ATK 3000/DEF 2500)!"

Yuni looks at the four dragons on Lord of D.'s field and says with awe, "Those are the four most legendary dragons of all time."

The Lord of D. agrees, "Yes, and I have assembled them all on my field into one ultimate draconic force! Now, Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon, attack his Cyber-Tech Magician with Photon Stream of Destruction!"

Yuni says, "I won't allow my magician to be destroyed! I activate my facedown, Cyber-Tech Defense Tactics! I can only activate this card if I control only one Cyber-Tech monster! This turn, that monster can not be destroyed in battle!"

"Then I'll activate he effect of Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon. I can banish both it and your monster!"

Yuni returns, "No you can't, because my trap also prevents you from targeting my monster with effects."

"Fine, but you still take damage!" The attack hits Yuni's monster (Yuni's LP: 3600). "Now Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon, attack with Tachyon Spiral of Destruction!" Number 107 unleashes its attack upon Yuni's monster (Yuni's LP: 3100). "You're up next Blue-Eyes White Dragon, White Lightning (Yuni's LP: 2600)! Finally, I'll have my Overlord of D. attack!" Overlord of D. projects an gold and silver energy-dragon, that fires a beam of energy at Cyber-Tech Magician (Yuni's LP: 1900). Lord of D. looks to his remaining monster and says, "Sorry my Red-Eyes, but you'll have to sit this one out. I end my turn (Lord of D.'s hand: 0)."

Tori cheers, "Come on Yuni, you can do this!"

Yuni smiles at her and draws. He smiles again, but this time at his draw. He declares, "I activate Time Skip and increase the turn count by one! Now my magician has been on the field for three turns, meaning I can Evolve it! I Evolution Summon Temporax, the Cyber-Tech Magician of Time (Dark/Level 9/Spellcaster/Evolution/ATK 3500/DEF 3100)! When I summon this monster, I can negate the effect of one card on the field, I'll negate your Protector of D.! That means that I can attack your Overlord of D.! Next I'll activate the effect of Temporax, and activate the Cyber-Tech Spellbook of the Wave Attack straight from my deck. This card allows my Temporax to attack each monster you control, once each! Go, attack with Temporal Wave!" Yuni's monster unleashes a wave-patterned attack. It first hits the Overlord of D. (Lord of D.'s LP: 2500). "Now that your Overlord is destroyed, your dragons are fair game!" The attack hits Blue-Eyes White Dragon (Lord of D.'s LP: 2000), then Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon (Lord of D.' LP: 1500), and then Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon (Lord of D.'s LP: 1000).

When Tachyon Dragon is attacked, it remains on the field and the Lord of D. says, "Since Tachyon Dragon is a Number monster, it can only be destroyed in battle by another Number monster!"

Yuni replies, "It doesn't matter, since you still take damage!" Finally the Red-Eyes Black Dragon is hit (Lord of D.'s LP: 0).

The Lord of D. bows in defeat. He says, "You have bested me in combat. You may continue." The Lord of D. disappears, leaving behind a Dian Keto on the floor.

Brutus cheers, "Wow Yuni, you proved me wrong! That was great!"

Yuni responds, "Thanks Brutus." Yuni walks over and picks up the Dian Keto (Yuni's LP: 2900).

Tori asks, "So why are you here Yuni?"

Yuni looks at her and asks, "Why are you here?"

Zenith says, "We were told by an old man that someone with crazy, spiky, yellow hair went here. We figured that it had to be you."

Yuni nods in understanding. He says, "Alright, well I'm here because that old man told me that this castle belongs to a Dragon King who's tormenting the land. Yugi and I figured that it must be our final destination."

Brutus says, "Alright then, what are we doing waiting here? Let's go fight that Dragon King!" The four move on into the castle.

Just as they're leaving the picture, Yuni asks, "Is my hair really that crazy?"

The group laughs.

Yuni adds, "No, I was serious."
