Episode 68: The Chaos of Order Part 1
Yuni and Celestia are alone in the duel arena room of the space station. Yuni is standing mouth agape at the information that has just been revealed to him. He finally says, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, did I hear you right? Oblivion, the Lord of Darkness, is your father?"
Celestia nods solemnly. "Yes, and he must be stopped at all costs."
Yuni is speechless.
Celestia sighs. "I suppose that I should explain our story. Yes, we are both indeed over 20,000 years old. You see, my father, Cosmo, was the High Advisor to the last emperor of Yugoha. The tradition of an Emperor of Yugoha having such an advisor stretches all the way back to first Yugohan Emperor. The High Advisor serves two main purposes, the first, of course, is to advise the emperor. However, the second duty is a little less obvious. You see, Yugoha is a society based off of monster spirits. These spirits were used for many purposes, such as sport, warfare, and day-to-day activities. As thus, Yugoha used something that you might call 'magic,' of course it wasn't, but it's the closet equivalent that your society would have."
Yugi comments, Hey, magic is real, just look at Ancient Egypt and the Millennium Items, or the Seal of Orichalcos.
Yuni conveys for Yugi, "But magic is real though, I happen to know that the Ancient Egyptians and Atlantians used it."
Celestia laughs. "Is that what you think it is?" After a few seconds she says, "But never mind that. As I was saying, the second job of the High Advisor is to act sort of like a head sage. The High Advisor works to keep all of that 'magic' in check. He also can perform many acts with this 'magic' that no others can. So when it came time for the two Yugohan Princes, Seto and Yu-Gi-Oh, to reconcile, they realized that in order to save the galaxy, they would have to find a way to survive for another 20,000 years."
Yuni starts to open his mouth, as if to ask for more details.
Celestia shakes her head. "I'm sorry, but I can not go into those details…yet. For that, we must wait until the appropriate time. Anyways, after my father and I used these mystical arts to preserve yours and Seto's lives, we set off to find a way to preserve our own, so that when the time came for the princes to return, we could be there helping. Yugoha had fallen, but we wandered the galaxy for the next five years. Eventually we came to a mysterious planet, one that was permeated by dark energy. My father forced me to stay behind on our starship, while he went to the surface. I don't know what happened there, but he claimed that he had found a way to prolong our lives. Seeing as I have yet to age a day since then, I'd have to say he was right. So we wandered the galaxy for several millennia. We arrived here on your planet only five years ago, but something happened. As soon as we made arrival, my father began to change. His anger and rage increased, and he easily gave into dark emotions. Not much later, he took on the new persona of Oblivion, and he forced his way to the top of the Disciple of Darkness hierarchy. I have done all I could to return him, but nothing has worked."
Yuni asks, "What do you think happened to him?"
"I can only guess that it has something to do with the Planet of Darkness that we visited, when he found us eternal life, he must have lost something else. Something dark is influencing him, and for some reason, it gained greater control over him when he arrived on this planet."
"So what can I do to help?"
Celestia looks down. "The only thing that I haven't tried that I can think of is defeating him in a duel. It is possible that if he is defeated, the dark spirit that posses him can be forced out."
After a few seconds, Yuni asks grimly, "And what if that doesn't work?"
Celestia responds morbidly, "Then it is worst case scenario, and my father must be destroyed, or else he might threaten all that we have worked to achieve."
Yuni nods in understanding. "I will duel Oblivion…I mean Cosmo, and I will stop at nothing to bring him back. You have my word Celestia, you will have your father back."
A tear comes to Celestia's eye. She whispers, "Thank you Prince Yu-Gi-Oh, you are just as valiant in this life as you were in the past." She looks up into his eyes. "Please, one more favor."
Yuni nods. "Anything."
"Please don't tell anyone. I know you trust your friends, but I'd rather no one know."
Yuni nods again. "Okay, I won't. now come on, let's get out of here, we still have a couple of minutes until the next duel." The two walk out of the room.
The room is now empty, or so it seems. The voice of Otto speaks out from nowhere, "So Celestia is on to my plot. It does not matter, my grip over Cosmo remains, and will remain, firm." Up against the wall, Otto materializes out of nothing. He continues, "The soul of Prince Yu-Gi-Oh will be destroyed once and for all, and the power of Yugoha will be mine." Otto fades away again.
Later, all of the duelists, plus Kodane and Otto return to the duel arena. The giant hologram of the Minister of Dueling is floating in the center of the field. He announces, "Welcome back finalists! It's time for the second duel of the quarter-final round! If you would please focus your attention on the display, we'll see who's up next!"
A display screen appears. The remaining contestants who have yet to duel are randomly displayed. The randomization slowly starts to come to a stop. The two pictures showing in the end are of Yuni and Ma'at. The two stare at each other loathingly. Yuni thinks, This can't be good. The last time I dueled him, I would have lost.
Yugi reminds him, Hey, but then I dueled him with your deck and we tied.
But you still didn't win. We can't afford to lose against him. We need to keep going in this tournament so that we can duel Oblivion, not to mention, I have a feeling that if we actually do lose against Ma'at, then we'll never even have a chance to lose again. I don't know if I can do this. Yuni has a quick flashback to the last time he dueled Ma'at. Ma'at is just about to declare an attack to finish the duel, but just before he does, Ma'at cancels the duel. Something like that won't happen twice. A look of fear goes across Yuni's face. Can I really beat him?
Yugi asserts, Stop talking like that! You can't go into this with a defeatist attitude! If you do, than you've already lost! Now get in there and beat the Guardian of Order!
Yuni takes in a deep breath. And looks to the side at Ma'at, who is sending a look of challenge at Yuni. Yuni suppresses a shiver, and returns the stare in like.
The Minister of Dueling announces, "And duel two of the quarter-finals will be between Yuni Oha and Ma'at! Duelists, take your positions!"
Yuni climbs off the platform and jumps into the no-gravity area. He awkwardly floats towards his position. Ma'at on the other hand, jumps off and effortlessly glides to his spot, as if under the influence of an outside force.
The Minister announces, "Duelists, start your Duel Gauntlets!"
Ma'at holds his arm upwards and summons his Duel Gauntlet of Order. Yuni activates his Duel Gauntlet. The computer says, "World of Duel Finals duel now commencing. Yuni Oha, with 4200 life points vs. Ma'at, with 4700 life points. Scanning decks…decks accepted. Commence dueling."
Ma'at says, "I sense a change in you since the last time we met. Your entire being is different."
Yuni thinks, Let's give him a show. Yuni snaps his fingers and an orb of black and white fire flickers to life above his hand. Yuni says aloud, "I am no longer merely an ally of Chaos, I am the Lord of Chaos!"
A look of hatred crosses Ma'at's face. He snaps his fingers and creates an orb of golden fire, which is larger than Yuni's fire. He says, "So Apophis passed the torch to you. Fine, it will make defeating you all that much more enjoyable." Both Lords cancel their fire.
The Minister of Dueling says with some confusion, "Well…if the duelists are finished with their…um…magic tricks, the duel shall begin. It has been randomly determined that Ma'at will take the first turn!"
Ma'at smirks. He draws. "Obviously they know who the superior duelist and Lord is."
Yuni returns, "Words mean nothing. Just duel."
"I activate Influx of Order! Now as long as I control this card, whenever I normal summon an Order monster, I can send another Order monster straight to my grave! Now I'll summon Messenger of Order (Light/Level 4/Fairy/Effect/ATK 1500/DEF 1800)!" The monster looks like an angel. It wears a gold trimmed satchel bag. Like other Order monsters, its body is made up of ornate white armor with golden trim. Wherever there is a gap in the armor, golden light pours out. "With Influx of Order, I'll send Serpent of Order to my grave! Then, I'll activate the effect of Messenger of Order, which allows me to summon a level four or lower Order monster from my hand! I'll summon Beast of Order (Light/Level 4/Beast/Effect/ATK 1800/DEF 200)." This monster is a lion-like being. It too is covered white and gold armor, emanating light. Ma'at says with disgust, "Make your move, Chaos scum (Ma'at's hand: 3)."
Yuni draws. He says, "Since I control no monsters, I Summon Cyber-Tech Berserker (Dark/Level 5/Fiend/Effect/ATK 2300/DEF 1100) via its effect!" Yuni's monster is a large, devilish creature. Any body part that isn't covered by cybernetic parts looks as if it's made out of shadows. It wields a massive, shadowy blade.
A voice sounds inside Yuni's head, Attack! Destroy! Defeat! Eliminate the Lord of Order, and maintain the Balance!
Yuni thinks in shock, Yugi, was that you?
Not me. I heard it too though, I have no clue.
Weird… He shakes it off. He says aloud, "Cyber-Tech Berserker, attack and destroy Beast of Order! When Berserker destroys a monster by battle, it inflicts damage to you equal to the destroyed monster's attack!" Yuni's monster charges at Ma'at's and raises its sword for an attack.
Ma'at says, "You won't be destroying any of my monsters this turn! I activate the effect of Beast of Order! If you declare an attack against any of my Order monsters, I can prevent that monster's destruction!" Just before the sword of Yuni's monster makes contact, a barrier of light surrounds the Beast of Order, protecting it. However, Ma'at still takes damage (Ma'at's LP: 4200). The monster returns to Yuni's side.
Yuni looks slightly annoyed. "I'll just have to set a card and end my turn (Yuni's hand: 4)."
Ma'at claims, "You might have ascended to the rank of Lord of Chaos, but your dueling skills are just as deplorable as before. You've gotten lucky the past two times. I assure you, this will not be third time lucky for you. I will finish what I started days ago, and when that happens, the world will be that much closer to the Order which it deserves."
Yuni asserts, "No, you will not be helping the world. Without a Lord of Chaos, the Balance will be destroyed, and fall into Darkness and disaster. I have seen what it could cause."
"You doubt the power of the Grand Order. The power void left by the absence of Chaos will be filled by the Guardians of Order. And then, and only then, the world will be more pure, and ordered than ever before. The end of the era of Chaos is upon us!" As he's saying the last part, Ma'at draws his card. "I tribute my two monsters in order to summon Archlord of Order (Light/Level 8/Fairy/Effect/ATK 2000/DEF 2800)!" In place of the two tributed monsters, a beam of light appears in Ma'at's field. Then, like an angel descending from the sky, Ma'at's monster appears. It is a heavenly being. While its armor is the same as most Order monsters, it actually has areas in its armor that don't hide a pure body of golden light beneath. It has angelic wings made of light and holds a golden staff. "Archlord of Order gains 500 attack for every Light attribute monster in my grave, and since Influx of Order now sends my Soldier of Order there, I have a total of four (ATK: 4000)!
A calm, female voice whispers in Ma'at's mind, Eliminate the servant of Chaos. He is nothing but trouble. Only in his absence can the Grand Order be established.
Ma'at does a double take. He thinks, What was that!? I'm hearing things! Unless…unless that was the Will of Order speaking to me! Themis always told me that there would come a day when it did, and all I would have to do is listen to it. Ma'at smiles. I plan on doing just that. He commands aloud, "Archlord of Order, attack the Chaos scum's Cyber-Tech Berserker with Heaven's Fury!" Ma'at's monster twirls its staff above its head before releasing a massive burst of golden energy. The attack destroys Yuni's monster (Yuni's LP: 2500). Upon being destroyed, Yuni's monster releases an assortment of parts that litter the floor.
Yuni declares, "I activate Cyber-Tech Repurpose! Since you destroyed a Cyber-Tech monster, I can special summon two Cyber-Tech monsters from my deck whose levels equal that of my Cyber-Tech Berserker!" The scattered parts float into the air and begin to reassemble into two forms. "I summon the level two Cyber-Tech Scout (Earth/Level 2/Machine/Effect/ATK 1000/DEF 1200) and the level three Cyber-Tech Shieldsman (Earth/Level 3/Warrior/Normal/ATK 0/DEF 2000), however, their effects are negated." The parts reassemble into the two mentioned monsters.
Ma'at comments, "You can call upon all of the worthless monsters that you want, it will make no difference!"
"We'll have to see about that!"
"Fine, prove it to me (Ma'at's hand: 3)."
Yuni draws. "With the card I just drew, I will! I tribute my two monsters in order to summon Cyber-Tech Magician (Dark/Level 7/Spellcaster/Effect/ATK 2500/DEF 2100)!" Yuni's magician appears on the field, twirls its staff a few times around and pounds it to the ground in a show of force. "Cyber-Tech Magician, activate your Effect Sealing Magic, and then attack with Cyber Magic Attack!" The magician first seals away the effect of the monster, turning it black and white (ATK: 2000), and then unleashes a blast of magical energy, destroying the monster (Ma'at's LP: 3700).
The mysterious voice in Yuni's mind says, Yes, yes! Attack those who stand in the way of Chaos!
Ma'at says, "You just made your first mistake! When Archlord of Order is destroyed by battle, I can add an Order monster straight to my hand! I call upon my Supreme Dragon of Order - Eunomia!" A spiritual form of Eunomia appears behind Ma'at.
"I can take it" Yuni sets a card and passes the turn (Yuni's hand: 3).
Ma'at draws. "I return Serpent of Order and Messenger of Order to my deck in order to special summon Supreme Dragon of Order - Eunomia (Light/Level 10/Dragon/Effect/ATK ?/DEF ?)!" Ma'at's majestic dragon emerges onto the field. "I have three Order monsters in my grave, and Eunomia gains 1000 attack for each one (ATK: 3000)!
Yuni thinks, Last time my Cyber-Tech Magician faced off against Eunomia, things didn't turn out that well for me…
"Now Eunomia, destroy the pitiful Cyber-Tech Magician with Force of Order!" Ma'at's dragon begins to charge for a surge of light energy.
Yuni counters, "I'll protect my magician until the end! I activate Negate Attack and end your battle phase!"
Ma'at crinkles his nose in annoyance. "If you are nothing else, you are persistent."
The voice from Ma'at's head says, No, you must attack, you must destroy the servant of Chaos!
Ma'at thinks, I wish I could. He says aloud, "I end my turn (Ma'at's hand: 4)."
Yuni draws. He thinks, Alright, normally my Cyber-Tech Magician's effect would be enough to defeat Eunomia, since I can negate its effect, but Eunomia has an effect that destroys any card trying to negate its effect. That's how I almost lost last time.
Yugi comments, Yeah, but last time I dueled him, I was able to use card effects to even the score.
Yuni nods. Yeah, but even if I can stop that from happening, Eunomia still has its effect that can return one of his monsters to the deck in order to return my monster to the hand when it battles…but, it can only use that effect once per turn, and it would lower its own attack by 1000… Yuni looks thoughtfully at his hand. He nods again. I think I have an idea, I've just got to play my cards right… He says aloud, "I discard a card from my hand in order to special summon Cyber-Tech Prototype (Light/Level 1/Machine/Effect/ATK ?/DEF ?)!" The monster is a crudely constructed automaton, that looks like a metal skeleton. "When I summon this card, its name, level, attack, and defense all become the same as another Cyber-Tech monster I control!" A ghostly holographic image of Cyber-Tech Magician is super-imposed over the prototype (Level: 7) (ATK: 2500) (DEF: 2100). "Then I activate the Cyber-Tech Spellbook of Empowerment! This card increases the attack of one Cyber-Tech Magician monster that I control by 500, I'll use on my actual Cyber-Tech Magician (ATK: 3000)! Now, Cyber-Tech Magician, attack the Supreme Dragon of Order, Cyber Magic Attack, but first, activate your Effect Sealing Magic!"
Ma'at says, "You are even more stupid than you look! Don't you learn anything!? I activate Eunomia's effect in order to negate your effect and destroy your magician!"
Yuni returns, "No! The second effect of Spellbook of Empowerment prevents my magician from being destroyed by card effects!"
Ma'at says in surprise, "But that would mean that both of our monsters will be destroyed!" A devious look crosses Ma'at's face. "Unless I activate Eunomia's effect."
Yuni smiles. He thinks, Checkmate. He says aloud, "You could, but that might be a mistake on your part. You see, my Cyber-Tech Prototype can only attack if you control a monster. So if you return my Cyber-Tech Magician to my hand, you'll have to lower your own attack by 1000 as a cost, making it weak enough for my Prototype to destroy it, and inflict 500 points of damage to you. On the other hand, if you let Cyber-Tech Magician and Eunomia destroy each other, my Prototype couldn't attack, and you'd take no damage. The choice is yours."
Ma'at grunts. "Well played Lord of Chaos…well played indeed. Fine then, Eunomia, launch a counter attack, Force of Order!" The attack of the two monster collide in midair. The resulting shockwave destroys both monsters.
Yuni, with a satisfied grin says, "That's all I needed to do. My turn's done (Yuni's hand: 1)."
From the sidelines, Brutus shouts, "Yeah Yuni! That was a great strategy! You showed that guy who's boss!"
Ma'at does not look pleased. He draws and says, "No one has ever destroyed my Eunomia before. Do not get comfortable, I will have my revenge!" He looks down at his hand. "I summon Golem of Order (Light/Level 4/Rock/Effect/ATK 1000/DEF 2000) in defense mode." The monster is a rugged compilation of rocks, colored like the armor of the typical Order monster. "Now I'll use the effect of Influx of Order to send Heir of Order to the grave. The I'll activate the effect of Golem of Order, and by returning Heir of Order to my deck, I can destroy one card you control!" The golem begins to glow intensely. It fires several of its shining rocks at Yuni's Cyber-Tech Prototype, destroying it. "I'll finish my turn by setting a card (Ma'at's hand: 3)."
The voice in Yuni's head says, Now is the time, utilize the power of a Chaos Draw!
Yuni smiles. He holds his hand up to the sky, and charges it with light and dark energy. The top card of his deck also glows. Yuni declares, "Go, Chaos Draw!" He dramatically swipes the top card off of his deck. "I summon Chaos Relic: Necro Automaton of Eclan (Dark/Level 4/Machine/Effect/ATK 1800/DEF 1800)!" The monster is a dark robot with a shadowy aura. It appears to be modeled off of a skeleton, but not a human one. "When I summon this monster, I can special summon a level seven or higher Dark monster from my grave. Come back, Cyber-Tech Magician!" The shadow aura from the automaton grows, and spreads to the spot next to it. In the aura, Yuni's magician reappears. "When I activate this effect, Necro Automaton turns into armor and equips itself to the monster I summoned!" The parts of Yuni's monster begins to shift around. It shapes itself into the form of armor and Cyber-Tech Magician dons it, giving it what looks like bone-like armor.
Ma'at says, "I activate my facedown card, Return of Order! Since you just special summoned a monster, I can special summon an Order monster from my graveyard! Return to me, Supreme Dragon of Order - Eunomia (ATK: 3000)!"
The voice from Ma'at's hand says, Yes, destroy the follower of Chaos, do not allow him to see the light of day!
The voice in Yuni's head says, Now is the time to stop the threat of Order once and for all!
Suddenly, the field around Yuni and Ma'at begins to change. The field is split in half. On Yuni's side, it looks like the Realm of Chaos, with a twilight sky, barren floor, and energy bursts flying through the sky. On Ma'at's side, the floor is made of gold, and the sky is a harsh, bright, white. Similar to the Chaos side, streams of golden energy dart through the sky. Behind Yuni is Apophis, the Will of Chaos, and behind Ma'at is an unknown being. It is a female entity, wearing a flowing white gown, with long, golden hair. It glows a golden aura.
Both Apophis and the other says at the same time aloud, "Now is the time to prove your ability my lord!"
