Anna and Olaf were running through the halls of the castle, trying desperately to escape the icicles that began forming out of the walls, hanging don from the slanted ceilings. Olaf himself left a trail of snow be hid him as he waddled at her side, huffing and puffing with each step.
"There's nowhere to go!" Anna cried. Olaf furrowed his brows- there had to be! Especially after Hans had locked her in the room, leaving her to die. We were all wrong about him, Olaf thought as he let himself decipher each door and wall, each window that was lined up perfectly. Anna felt tears begin to fall, freezing as they did so.
She had been so dumb- Hans was right. She didn't want to see him for what he was, she only wanted to see what she had wanted, not bothering to get to know him any better. And now Arendelle is going to freeze permanently.. she thought, trailing off as she took a few shuddering stepf forward, each movement getting stiffer as they wasted time running around like a dog chasing it tail.
But in the end, that was what she was. Blind to others emotions, only aiming for what it was she desired. She had desired love, and Hans had given it to her. A sudden thought struck her.
What did Elsa desire?
What did she want? To be alone? Anna shook her head slightly. Olaf was at the windows now, jumping up to reach the latch that kept it shut.
"No one wants to be alone…" Anna mumbled to herself. She suddenly found herself thinking of him.
Kristoff, with his blond hair.
Kristoff, with his sarcastic attitude.
Kristoff, with his warm brown eyes.
Kristoff, with Sven at his side, ready for anything.
Krsitoff…..
But he and always been alone. With the trolls, he lived away from everyone else. But was it what he really wanted? Anna thought. Olaf suddenly gasped and Anna cast her eyes to him. He was holding himself up on the windowsill, holding an icicle up to his eyes like a telescope.
"Anna!" he cried, "Look!" Anna did her best to shuffled over to Olaf, trying to peer through the glass that was slowly beginning to shroud itself in ice.
"Wh-what is i-i-it, Olaf…?" she stammered out, her body shaking violently.
"Kristoff is coming back! Riding across the fjords like a valiant pungent reindeer king!" Olaf exclaimed happily, then furrow his eyebrows in confusion, "but that means he doesn't really love you after all, huh?" Anna looked at the snowman, confused.
"Love?" she asked. Olaf sighed, hopping down from the window.
"I guess you really don't know anything about love, huh?" he asked.
"Olaf, what-"
"Anna, love is putting someone else's need before yours," he cut her off simply, "did you ever think of it?" Anna was silent, blue eyes wide as Olaf went on, "and it's also leaving them behind, letting them be." Anna's brow creased, lines forming in her skin s she thought about it. She had never bothered to put Elsa's or Kristoff's needs before hers. But Kristoff….
"Kristoff… loves me?" Anna asked the snowman, her voice barely a whisper. A sudden thought struck her- what was it the trolls had said?
"Olaf, do you remember… remember the trolls?" Anna asked.
"Yeah, why?" Olaf responded, shrugging.
"Wha-wh-what was it they s-s-s-aid?" she managed through chattering teeth. Olaf looked at her, confused- here, she was dying and she was trying to remember what a magical rom had told her? But then he remembered. The trolls had said that a head could be persuaded, but a heart not so easily, he pondered, but an act of true love….
Olaf gasped, exclaiming, "An act of true love an thaw a frozen heart!" Anna nodded, lips tugged into a small smile. Olaf then pointed to the window, "and there's your act of true love right there!" Anna nodded, grunting as she then gripped the latch on the window, her fingers slipping as she did so.
"Anna, what-"
"I need to get to Kristoff!" she said weakly, chest heaving as she pulled at the lock, "now!"
