There was a round of sudden gasping and crying out, and Elsa peered skyward, noticing people point and blink. Turning her head, she aw the Guardians, jumping and clapping happily. Kristoff looked as if he didn't know what to do, his face a mix of wonder and confusion and utter joy.
"Elsa….?"
Elsa blinked. That had sounded like her sister…. She blinked again, unsure if she was just hearing things, seeing things. Or feeling things, she thought suddenly, the icy statue becoming warm flesh underhand. Hesitantly she sent her gaze skyward, her sister's head looking like it had a halo floating above it.
"Anna!" she cried ecstatically, wrapping her arms around her sister. Elsa let out a heaving sob as she felt Anna's arms tighten around her shoulders, reveling int eh warm tingle that spread across her skin. Elsa pulled away, smiling gratefully, until the smile suddenly vanished, replaced with a confused look.
"What is it, Elsa?" Anna asked, shrugging her shoulders. She herself was just happy to still be alive, to see her sister and Kristoff…. Elsa glanced between her sister and the ice-cutter. They were definitely both happy about the outcome elf this situation, that was for sure.
"You…. you sacrificed yourself for me?" Elsa asked. Anna nodded.
"Of course," she said.
"B-but why?" was Elsa's stuttered reply.
"Because you're my sister," Anna explained, "I love you." There was a sudden gasp from North as he waved his arms, nearly smacking Bunny in the head.
"An act of true love will thaw a frozen heart!" he bellowed happily, doing some sort of jig. Bunny rolled his eyes as Kristoff raised an eyebrow in confusion. Tooth hovered nearby, all smiles as she darted in and out of the small group.
"Oh, this is wonderful!" she exclaimed, dashing over to the Queen. Before Elsa could say anything, she found herself scooped up a good five inches off the ground, feathers on Tooth's body tickling her nose, making her resist the urge to sneeze. Peering over Tooth's shoulder, Elsa sent a warm look at the Guardians. The guests up in the balcony cheered.
North was busy dancing around with Olaf.
Bunny was trying his best to ignore North's shenanigans.
And here, Tooth was squeezing her tight with a bear hug.
I owe them so much, Elsa thought, sighing with relief as she felt her feet touch the ground, tooth letting go of her gently. Elsa let her eyes skim over the Guardians once again. The way would definitely have a place in Arendelle, in her heart. But as she looked at them, she realized someone was missing. Breaking away from her sister's embrace, Elsa approached them cautiously, rubbing her hands.
"Um…. she-where's Jack?" Elsa managed to stammer. As soon as she got the question out, the Guardians froze, exchanging awkward and nervous glances.
"Is…. is something the matter?" Elsa went on, giving them an uncomfortable smile. The Guardians were still silent, Anna ambling over to Kristoff, given ghee sister a confused, concerned look.
"Kristoff, what happened to Jack?" Anna asked, making sure Elsa would not hear them. Krsitoff shrugged.
"I honestly don't know, Anna-" he began, until North clapped a hand over his mouth, silencing him.
"Santa Clause!" Anna exclaimed in disappointment, pulling his hand away with great effort. North rolled his eyes- often, people called him by the wrong name.
"Princess, what happened-" North began, before Sandy gave him a glare, "What? Queen needs to know!" Sandy shook his he'd again, eyes determined to keep his mouth shut. Anna groaned- what were they, children?!
"Tell me," she demanded, "now. Or i bring Elsa over here and you can break it to her yourself, got it?" The Guardians snuck a quick peek at Elsa, who waited patiently, if not nervously.
"Alright," North sighed, casting his eyes down, "but if Queen Elsa finds out, then I will not know what to do." Anna rubbed North's arm gently.
"Whatever it is," she said, "I'm sure Elsa can handle it."
But she was wrong.
Once the words left the Guardians mouths, Elsa grabbed onto her sister's hand. Sinking to the ground, she clutched Anna's hand so tightly Anna thought it might break. But Elsa held on as if for dear life, holding her sister's hand after all these years.
And she cried.
