Let Me Go
Everything was said in his silence (Rose/Ten) Bad Wolf Bay. Hint of Rose/Tentoo
"I said," the Doctor began, keeping his voice in check. "Rose Tyler."
The expression on her features almost breaks him. Her light hair blowing around her heart-shaped face, the glow from the sun giving her an ethereal halo. Her brown eyes wide in disbelief, searching but ultimately failing to find what she wanted to see in his ageless eyes.
For a moment the Doctor believes she'll fight, that's she won't take his scant answer, and demand the one line she so long deserved to hear.
But she will, he reminds himself, she will hear it. But not from him. The other him, the one standing right across in a blue suit, looking rather nervous and uncertain.
It was only a second, barely a blink, and even a TimeLord can't explain why some seconds feels like a hundred years, and why a hundred years feels like a second. It was one of those universal mysteries that no one could explain.
The Doctor gazed at her, using his last second to explain to her why he won't finish that sentence himself.
Let me go, he begged, face emotionless, chocolate eyes saying everything. Let me go, even if I die inside once you do. I need to keep going on my own, hand empty, and hearts torn. The universe said our time is up, and our timelines ends here.
She's so afraid, but more than anything, she's afraid of being alone again.
Don't be afraid, he ends. I'm just as scared as you.
She stares back, an understanding forming in her eyes. In a moment, she's facing the Metacrisis, asking him the question the original Doctor is denied to answer himself.
And he's alone once more.
I don't even know. I guess drabbles when I feel like it.
Let me know what you think!
Thank you,
MB
