Chapter 19: Faking Death
I was able to get Ember into Pinkie's house without being seen. Don't ask me how, I honestly don't know how we got so lucky. Pinkie and I discussed very carefully how to do this. We decided that I would run out in a pastel purple cloak with a little white. I restyled my mane to a more active one. I fastened the cloak on. As for the plan, I would run out in my pastel cloak yelling my "sister" was dead. I would introduce myself as the sister of me, Star Aura. Pinkie told me to run into town at midday from my house. Early in the morning, I got out and flew to my house, but not before Pinkie could give me something. It was a box in wrapping paper.
"What's this?" I asked. Pinkie smiled as she curled part of her mane, styling it for the day.
"Open it! It's gift." She said. I used my magic to tear open the paper and open the box. I lifted all the contents. The first was a jar with things that I didn't really know what it was. The next was obviously a wig and a tail wig. I set the matching wigs aside and looked at the jar that I now noticed was filled with water.
"What is this?" I questioned. Pinkie took the jar from my magic and opened it.
"They are contacts to change the color of your eyes. You have to tell me you know of these." Pinkie said. I thought for a moment.
"That's right, I've seen castle ponies that change the color of their eyes depending in their outfit." I said.
"Then put these in and put on the wigs." Pinkie orders before returning to her mane. I quickly changed my look. The mane was a pale yellow with a single strip the stood out that was a much lighter yellow. The contacts were a near opposite of my normal darker magenta color to a bright orange. Pinkie shooed me to avoid ponies, especially since my new look drew attention.
I quickly made my house look a little disrupted, as if Star Aura was panicking looking for her sister. I decided to make Star Aura a more neurotic pony, which is why nopony knew about her. When noon came about. I quickly ran into town.
"Help! Somepony, anypony help!" I screamed, letting fake tears run down my face. A pony that I recognized as Octavia ran to my aid.
"What's wrong?" She quickly asked.
"My... my sister is missing!" I screamed.
"Who is your sister?" She asked.
"Aura Bliss." I quickly shot. She paused for a moment.
"What's your name? I didn't know Aura had a sister." She inquired.
"My name is Star Aura. I'm her younger sister. She was always ashamed if me."
"Isn't Ember at home?"
"He's gone too!" I screamed and faked a cry. Octavia lifted my head.
"Come on, let me take a look at your home." She offered kindly. I made myself small and nodded. I led her back home, and after a while of Octavia looking around, she led me back into town and into the town hall. The two of us talked to the mayor for at least two or three hours before she finally made her decision.
"Star Aura, we don't have any records on you, but I do believe your story. I will declare Aura Bliss dead, since lately with all disappearances, they are all found dead or never found at all. I will also do the same for Ember. Do you have anypony to stay with?" She said. I nodded.
"Pinkie Pie." I responded.
"Can you go on your own?" She asked. I nodded again and with that, I left her. I hurried to Sugarcube Corner and excitedly entered.
"All good?" She asked vaguely.
"Yes, do you have any cupcakes?" I asked.
"Lucky you! I found some older stuff of my special ingredient! It is still good though!" She announced as she picked one out for me. She slid it over after she finished checking out a customer. I picked up the cupcake and hesitated to eat it, knowing full well I was almost in this cupcake. I are it anyway, thinking which pony was the one who was in this one. As soon as I could, Pinkie got me back to the basement.
Our plan was a success. I no longer had to deal with others, I hid in the basement when I wasn't helping Pinkie in the shop, and I only emerged in my wigs, contacts, and my purple cloak. I really only wore my black once in a while.
