Author's Note: I don't own anything having to do with The Fast and the Furious only Sarah and Matt belong to me.

*Fast and Furious* will represent a break in time. Much shorted than previous chapters but I know it's been forever since I've updated so I wanted to give you something. I will be wrapping this up in the next couple of chapters but I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 5

Leon and I sat on the back porch until my angry sobs turned into simple tears. He whispered a few soothing words here and there but mostly we sat in silence, his presence being the only comfort I needed for the time being.

"Well, I don't know about you but I could use a beer," Leon gave me a cheeky grin and I couldn't help but smile as we got up and he held the door open for me.

When we walked in I was surprised to see Vince standing there waiting for us, I nodded to Leon to assure him I was alright and after he grabbed a beer from the refrigerator he went into the living room with everyone else.

"What, V?" I sighed unsure of what he had to say.

I had known Vince as long as I had known the Torettos. He was the annoying little kid that Dom would hang out with while Mia and I were playing dress up. Vince had always just been there, teasing and picking on me as if I was his little sister but that's where it stopped. We were friends, great friends I suppose, but I wasn't sure if that was because of all the years we had spent together or the fact that he was Dom's second.

He was leaning against the wall and shifted his feet a little, "Do you want me to stay here for awhile, for like extra protection?"

I smiled and patted him arm, "No, go sleep in your own bed." He gave me a look trying to see through any lie I might be feeding him. "I'm fine. Besides, it's not like you're that far away."

Dom appeared in the kitchen and gave Vince a silent nod letting him know he wanted to talk to me alone. I pushed myself up on the counter and let my feet swing back and forth a little waiting, wondering, what he was going to say.

"I'm not going to let anything happen to you," his voice came out hard and full of promise.

I shook my head and let out a scoff, "You know, everyone keeps saying that but it's not me I'm worried about."

"It should be…no it needs to be. The guys can take care of themselves," he sighed when I raised an eyebrow at him. "I know you think you can too but Sarah this shit is very real and you could get seriously hurt. I need you to trust me on this you saw what happened to Leon."

"I do trust you," I replied softly as I dropped my head. "Dom…what happened tonight?"

*Flashback*

As soon as Leon knew Sarah was safe he stalked over to who he assumed to be Matt and punched him in the face without so much as a warning. Anger filled every ounce of him as he thought back to the first morning he saw the bruises on Sarah's body and the terror in her eyes. He only got two more punches in before more members of Tran's gang showed up and he was quickly out numbered.

"Fights are starting early tonight," Letty mused as Dom and Hector were finalizing up the races.

Dom hummed a response and continued talking to Hector until Jesse ran up to them slightly out of breath. "Have you guys seen Le or Sez?"

"Not since we got here," Letty shook her head but Dom suddenly had an uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach.

"Find her," Dom turned to Vince trying not to let the worry slip through his voice before he looked back to Jesse, "Now."

The two split up and easily jogged through the crowd of people in search of Sarah when Letty hit Dom on the arm. "Shit, we got problems."

He looked to where she was pointing and saw Lance landing a punch to someone who was already knocked to the ground. To Dom it didn't matter who that person was Tran's people were on his turf and he wasn't going to have it.

"Don't do anything stupid," Letty warned as Dom stalked away from her.

Dom easily made his way through the onlookers ready to break up the fight and send Tran's people on their way when he saw Leon rolling over on the ground holding the side of his face.

That's when he saw red and started throwing punches of his own.

*Present*

"I thought you and Tran had some agreement; he'd stay away if you did. Wasn't that the deal?" I questioned, wondering when this had all gone so wrong.

Dom's gaze fell to the floor, he let out a deep breath before taking a step closer to me, "You dating Matt changed that."

"I should have listened to you," I mumbled feeling guilty and responsible for everything that had happened. "I should have questioned why he never came to the café or around the garage or why he wouldn't come here. I should have never…"

Dom cut me off and put a finger under my chin so I had no choice but to look at him. "This is not your fault."

"But-" I tried to argue.

"No," he cut me off again, his hand remaining firm on my chin and his eyes never leaving mine. "This is not your fault."

I forced a smile and he leaned over to kiss my forehead. "Dom, there's something else you need to see." With a sigh I pulled out my cell phone and opened the text messages before handing it over to him. "Leon saw them earlier today we were going to tell you after the race but then everything went to shit."

Dom scrolled through a few of the messages before angrily tossing the phone onto the table behind him. "Why didn't you show me these earlier?!" he hollered louder than I had heard in years then without a second glance in my direction he headed for the front door.

"Dom, wait!" I quickly hopped off the counter and followed after him grabbing onto his arm to stop him but it worked as well as stopping an angered bull. When he had his hand on the doorknob I didn't know what else to do so I screamed in frustration. "Dominic Toretto, don't you dare walk away from me like a coward!"

I could feel everyone's eyes from the living room flickering between him and me wondering what was going to happen next but I refused to back down.

He turned to glare at me but didn't remove his hand from the doorknob. "Coward? Damn it Sarah you're my responsibility and I'm not going to let him get away with this."

"Then don't forget to grab your torque wrench before you go," I snapped.

"Sarah," Vince growled in warning as he moved to step between us though I knew no matter what Dom would never lay a hand on me.

I bit the inside of my cheek to keep my own emotions at bay before I continued. "What Johnny did…I'm not saying it was right and God knows I want him to get what's coming to him but you can't do this Dom."

"Have you looked in the mirror recently?" Dom nearly spat in anger. "Tran is going to pay."

"And you're going to make him? So, what you can end up back in Lompoc? Do you have any idea what that did to your sister?" I dramatically swung my arm in Mia's direction. "Do you have any idea what it did to me, or Letty, or Vince when you weren't around for two years! I don't care if I have to lie down in front of your car I'm not letting you do this. Especially not over a fucking text message they are just words on a screen. You say I'm your responsibility well guess what you can't be there for me if you are locked up!"

I couldn't contain my emotions anymore and tears streamed down my cheeks for the third time that night. In the next second Leon had his arms wrapped around me from behind whispering in my ear to calm down.

Dom removed his hand from the doorknob though his level of anger was still there. "Something has to be done."

"And something will," Vince agreed.

*Fast and Furious*

The next morning I quietly walked up the stairs and knocked on Brian's door. There was some shuffling and a soft 'oomph' before the door opened. I bit my bottom lip so I wouldn't laugh at his wild hair.

"Hey, everything alright?" He opened the door all the way to let me in his room as he walked over and grabbed a shirt that had gotten tossed to the side.

I didn't know why I was disappointed he put it on but I shoved that thought from my mind as I closed the door to give us some privacy and sat down on his bed. "Yeah, I'm fine."

"Look about last night I shouldn't have-"

I put my hand up to stop him that wasn't the reason I wanted to talk. "Actually, I was wondering if you'd be able to help me with something."

"Anything," he sat down on the bed next to me and giving me his full attention.

I took a deep breath and picked at the skin around my nails. "Well, remember the other night when I couldn't sleep because of nightmares?" He nodded with a look of concern on his face and waited for me to continue. "I dreamt Dom was mad at me for bringing danger to the team and getting them all killed." I paused for a second trying to get the image of their bloodied bodies out of my mind. "You were there too and there was so much hate in your eyes."

"I don't hate you," he placed a hand on my knee and I gave him a half smile.

"I've been up all night thinking about a way to fix this without too many problems," I carried on not wanting to dwell on any feelings that might be starting between me and the blue-eyed blonde next to me. "And I have a plan but I'm going to need your help."

He shrugged like it was no big deal, "Of course."

"This needs to stay between us," I looked him in the eye so he knew how serious I was. "No one can know especially Le or Dom."

Brian moved his hand from my knee and placed it gently on my back, "I'll help anyway I can but not telling the rest of the team makes me curious as to what you have planned. I don't want you getting hurt."

"I won't," I assured trying to believe the words myself.

With a deep breath he asked, "Then what's this master plan of yours."

"We're going to go have a sit down with Matt and Johnny."
