This was written for the drabble tag thread in HPFC. George/Hermione was the pair (though they are friends here!) and dancing was the prompt.I thought it would make sense to post it in this collection instead of Dare You to Move. Don't worry, I'll get back to what happened in the last chapter soon! Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.
George was heading upstairs to the flat to get something, though he stopped when he opened the door. Hermione had her television on and looked like she was waltzing with an imaginary person. He raised an eyebrow as he smirked at the sight.
He cleared his throat to let her know he was there. "What are you doing?" he asked in an amused tone.
Hermione jumped in fright. "You can't be here," she said as she quickly turned off the television.
"I'm George. And it's my flat too."
"I know you're George. You still can't be here. I don't want you two to think that I'm stupid-"
George cut her off. "You're a lot of adjectives, but stupid isn't one of them. Silly, maybe… what's this about?"
Hermione sighed. "I'm trying to learn how to dance better. I'm not very good at it, and I want everything to be perfect for Fred on our wedding day."
He raised an eyebrow at her. "You're already making the day perfect for him. He has you. You don't have to impress him by doing this."
"I know, I know. But he's just so good at dancing, and-"
George held his hand up and walked over to her. "I'll help you then." He wrapped his arms around her, and they began dancing slowly. He taught her how to move in time to the music, and he was pleased to see that she had actually improved.
"I'm really happy that you're marrying Fred," George admitted honestly a few moments later. "You make him happy, and I think you're good for him." He shrugged and suddenly felt vulnerable. Hermione was the first girl George approved in Fred's life, and he thought that it was time that she knew. He still felt strange about the fact that somebody else was taking over his spot, but he really was glad it was her.
Hermione beamed as she looked up at him. "That means a lot to me," she said quietly, hugging him. "He makes me happy too."
George nodded. "I know. I see it whenever you two are together."
"I promise I'll take care of him," she muttered softly as the door suddenly opened. Hermione and George pulled apart, and looked at Fred.
"Hey, get your own girl," Fred joked as he looked at the two in amusement. Hermione laughed softly as she wrapped her arms around him and kissed him.
George shook his head. "I'm going to see if Luna wants to grab lunch. I'll see you lovebirds later."
