Don't let me fall chapter 12

Austin's p.o.v

Suddenly I heard a siren from near by. Both Ally and I immediately looked around, we spotted an ambulance drive near by in the direction of our neighbourhood. I immediately thought of my mum, I felt a bit frightened that something might have happened to her. My dad never hurt her, but she never stood up to him until today either. What if he hit her? What if he killed her? No! No! I can't think like this, I'm over reacting, I don't even know if the ambulance is going to my house. Maybe somebody felt sick or had a heart attack in my neighborhood or something like that... I don't know, anything but that.

I couldn't cope guessing. I had to find out. I jumped off the wall and got a confused look from Ally.

" I need to check something " I said and she nodded. She followed my lead and we started walking in the direction that the ambulance went. I could hear my heart beating in my chest and the world seemed like it was in slow monsoon as we reached our street. I closed my eyes one last time before finding out the truth. Then I looked and I saw it.

The whole world darkened as I did. I felt Ally take my hand and squeeze it lightly. My gaze lowered to the ground! Please someone tell me I'm wrong. Tell me my eyes are fooling me. Tell me this is a nightmare from which I'm about to wake up.

But inside I knew it wasn't. I knew what I saw was true. I knew my mum was hurt, cause they drove her away. The ambulance drove away and my front door was open.

I felt an anger fly through me, an anger at my dad who did it. An anger at the whole world cause it let it happen. An anger at myself cause I wasn't there. And that was it!

" Ally stay here! " I yelled as I ran toward my house. I heard Ally scream my name in the background probably so I'd come back but I didn't. I ran into my house and looked around the living room and saw blood and a knife on the floor. My heart broke!

" Austin! " I heard Ally yell and spun around. My eyes opened wide and I went over to her as fast as I could.
" I told you to stay out! " I said but she shook her head.
" I couldn't let you come in here all by your self " She said.
" Ally please, I can't have you getting hurt " I told her but she protested again.
" No, you can't be alone with him "

We heard the door slam and looked at it. My dad was standing there, obviously mad. I pushed Ally behind me and she held on to me from the back. My dad ignored us and walked over to where the blood on the floor was. I took a step back, pushing Ally backwards as well. My dad picked up the knife off the floor and walked out of the room. I just stared out after him wondering what he's up to. I turned around and looked at Ally " Hide! " " No! I'm coming with you " She said but I shook my head.

" You can't, he's mad, I can see that in his eyes " I said " I'll rather take another beating then let you get hurt in any way. Now! I'll walk you to the front door and you'll leave, and won't look back, understood? "

" But Austin- "
" Ally! Do you understand!? " I said firmly and she sighed before nodding her head " Good " I lead her to the front door and let her get out.

" Austin Wait- " She started but I slammed the door before I could hear her finish. I sighed and turned the key in the lock, locking it up.

Ally will be fine, at least Ally will be fine. That's all that matters to me right now as I climb up the steps to the second floor. I looked around and an old picture caught my eye. It was me, my parents and grandparents. We were all messing around and enjoying ourselves cause it was my 5th birthday. I took the picture in my hands and a flashback came to me ' I was running around the house, not a care in the world. My mum told me to be careful and not to break anything but my dad just told her to relax and let me enjoy myself. I remember how my mum would roll her eyes playfully and pout, and my dad would laugh at her childish behaviour. As soon as I left the room, I peeked through the door cause I wondered what my parents did when they were alone. I saw my dad approach my mum.

" Mike-" My mum said giggling and he kissed her not letting her say another word. I remember how disgusted I was, taking the fact I was just 5 years old. Then out of nowhere my grandpa picked me up and pulled me away from the door. He put me down on the couch and started tickling me. I laughed for what seemed like it was forever. Once my parents came back to the room, we decided to take a picture all together so we did. Oh how I wish I could go back to those times. The best times of my life. '

I felt a pain in my arm and drooped the picture. I felt my arms and felt a knife in it. I pulled it out and the wounded spot started bleeding heavily. I wined lightly and turned around.

" You are such a wimp! " My dad said to me. Before I could reply or do anything else he brought his hand up in order to hit me. I just closed my eyes

" No! " I heard Ally scream and I immediately opened my eyes.
" Ally what are you doing here? I told you to leave! " I shouted.
" I couldn't let you face this by yourself " She said, sobbing as she did. I sighed. Why? Why did she come here? Why did she put herself in danger for me?
Because I'd do the same for her? Oh Ally. But that's not what matters right now!

" Ally run! For god's sake run! " I shouted but she didn't move an inch " Ally please! " As I finished my dad grabbed my by my hair and pressed a knife against my neck holding me, so I wouldn't get away with his free hand. Of course I tried to struggle but as I did he just pressed the knife harder against my skin. I was afraid if I breathe I'll get to close to the knife and it'll cut truth my skin so I breathed slowly. My eyes were focusing on Ally the whole time. She was looking at my dad, then at me. I could see she was frightened so I tried to yell for her to run again, but the knife was too close to my truth.

" Here's how this is going down " My father yelled " You'll come up here and I'll let him go! If not, I will kil him! Don't think I won't do it, cause I will "
" Ally! Run! " I managed to say nearly hearable but loud enough for her to hear me.
" No! I'm not leaving you! " She said as she stared to make her way up the steps " No! Stay down " I said but I was too late. She had already made her way up the steps and was next to me now. My dad let go of me and I quickly took a step in front of Ally.

" Don't you dare touch her or hurt her in any way " I said coldly but he just looked at me shocked and with his eyes wide. I felt Ally's hands on my back and put one of my hands behind me and she grabbed it. I felt her squeeze it tight in fear and I gave her a light squeeze back in encouragement.

I took my dad's slow reaction and ran down the steps pulling Ally along with me. I pulled her into the living room and immediately ran through the door to the kitchen and I locked it. I went over to the window and opened it " You can get out through here " I told her.
" What about you? " She protested knowing I wasn't coming with her.
" I'm gonna hold him back if he tries to go after you "

" No Austin! You're more important than me so you're going first! " Ally whispered over to me and I took her hand.
" Ally, I've known you since forever, I love you and need you in my life. And if I can't have a normal life then you have to. I want you to leave and never turn back! Ally, please " I whispered over to her and she pulled me into a hug. I felt her tears soke trough my shirt and wrapped my arms around her " Please Ally do it for me " I whispered to her once again but she didn't pull away or do anything really. She kept hugging me and crying.

" Ally you really need to go " I said.
" Austin, you have to understand, you're my life now, you're even more than that and I love you and need you with me so if you're staying I'm staying! " She said and I smiled lightly " Als, you are amazing, has anyone ever told you that before? "

" No, I don't believe anyone ever cared enough " Ally said.
" Well I do! "

" Oh stop it you two you're making me wanna puke! " I heard my dad's voice coming from outside and looked at the window. I saw him standing there playing with his knife. To mine and Ally's luck he's not small enough to fit through the window and get in here.

" Come on Ally! " I said and pulled her hand, while unlocking the kitchen door and running to the back door. I opened it but suddenly Ally was pulled back and let go of my hand. I looked behind me and saw my dad yanking her by her hair up the stairs. I immediately ran after them but I was too late.

" Stop where you are or she falls " He said leaning Ally towards the edge of the steps. I looked down and saw the fall was like 10 feet and sighed.
" What do you want? " I said.
" Me? Oh, I want this girl " He pointed at Ally " To get out of your life! " my eyes opened wide.

" No! Don't! Whatever you're thinking! Don't! " I said and the next thing I know I heard two shoots and felt pain in my stomach. I heard Ally scream as I feel backwards. I wine in pain and moments later somebody was kneeling next to me.

" Dude are you okay?! " I heard someone say but it was more like and eco. I looked up and saw Dallas. I was shocked.
" What-what are you doing here? " I said.
" It's a long story " He said " But you need to get to the hospital " I felt somebody else kneel next to me.
" Oh my god! " Ally gasped " Austin "

" What about my dad? " I asked weakly. Somebody shoot me, probably him but there was a second shoot and Now Ally was next to me so he must have got shoot.

" I took care of it! " Dallas said showing me a gun in his hand. My eyes opened wide " Where did you get that?! "
" My dad.. Like I said it's a long story! But right now we need to get you to the hospital " He said and helped me stand up " Ally take the keys "

The pain in my stomach as we walked was indescribable. I could feel the blood from where I got shoot as it soaked my shirt. We got to my mum's car and they helped me in, Ally got to the back with me and Dallas quickly started to drive toward the hospital.

" Ally " I whispered.
" Yes? "
" I love you " I whispered over to her and as tears were streaming down her face she smiled " I love you too "

I smiled and took her hands into mine and kissed them. Then the room slowly got darker and I started closing my eyes. In what I could see, Ally's eyes opened wide and she started shaking me " Austin don't fall asleep! Austin! " She screamed but it was more like an eco to me as my body started to feel numb and everything got dark..
