Don't let me fall chapter 15
Austin's p.o.v
Ally walked in. I heard the door open and she walked in. She shouldn't have done that! She should have stayed home and let me go. Yeah, she should have just let me go. But then again, if it were the other way around and I had to save her I would do anything in my power save her.
" Austin! " I heard her scream my name as she ran over to me. She started to untie me and I looked at her " You shouldn't have come here! ". She shook her head and looked at me " I had to! I couldn't just let you die " She told me and I let out a sigh. She untied my hands and feet and helped me stand up. I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her close to me. Oh how I missed her warmth. " You need to go, you need to get as far away as possible " I whispered to her.
" I'm not going to leave you here to die " She whispered. I smiled at her lightly, she had no idea what happened to me " I'm already dead ". Her expression became even more serious then it was before " What?! " She spoke out and I bit my lip before pulling up my sleeve to show her my wrist. It was infected, my dad injected something into me and I assume it was poison of some sort.
" My dad gave me... A shoot " I told her as she examined my wrist. She observed it for a while and eventually looked up at me " You have to get to a hospital, Austin, as soon as possible ". I pulled my sleeve and shook my head " I won't make it " I told her and sat back down on the floor.
" Well you can't just give up! Where's your hope? " She asked me. I looked at her " It's with you. So you have to get out of here! "
" I won't leave you here to die! " She told me while taking my hand into hers. A smiled looking as she interlocked our fingers together. Oh my Ally. I would do anything to go back and save her from this, just her. I would and I think I will, die for her. I want her to remember me like I was. The good and the bad parts of my miserable life. I have no chance of surviving and the only regret I have, is not finding my true feelings for Ally sooner. I will try, try to say my goodbye like it's not the last time. But it is. She will probably be sad for a while, but she'll get over me. Yeah, she'll get over me. She'll move on and even find somebody who will love her almost as much as I do. That somebody will make her happy, almost as much as I do. She'll make him happy, almost as much as she makes me happy. But as long as she's happy I'll be happy. Yeah, I'll be happy. And I know some day we'll be reunited. 'Cause our love will never fade and stay timeless, so once we're nothing but ghosts, we'll be together again.
" Austin, please come with me. I can't leave you by your self, all alone waiting for death " Ally whispered and I let out a sigh. I looked up in her eyes, and she had that look. The one that said how she would rather stay here and die so I'm not on my own when I depart, their run away and escape for good. There was no way of talking her out of it, I wish there was tho. But if I had to die I'd rather have it be with her. So instead of stalling any further, I nodded my head and got up along with her.
She lead me to the door and opened it, before we stepped outside she stopped " Where is your dad? " She asked me, while looking back and scanning the abandoned apartment behind us. I looked too. But I knew he wasn't there 'cause he left. He left to go get something. But if Ally and I hurry, we might just catch the next bus to freedom. It will be a hard task though. " He's not here, but we should hurry if we wanna get out of here "
I carefully grabbed her hand and pulled her down the stairs. The building, alike the apartment, was abandoned. It half burned in a fire and was declared unsafe, but as unsafe as it was it was still safer then the outside of this part of town. There were gang organisation, kidnappings, people trapped mostly girls though but it was still safer inside the building that might crash under it's own weight. Ally slowly opened the main door and looked outside. There was no one in sight, at least one thing was going right. Ally quickly checked the time and sighed in desperation " The next bus won't be here any sooner then four hours from now ".
" What are we going to do?! " I asked her and she shrugged. " I don't know, but we should think and fast " She said while looking up and meeting my eyes. I nodded and glanced out once again. I saw my dad near by and my eyes went wide. I pulled Ally down to the basement and made her hide where I was sure he won't find her. There wasn't enough room for both of us so I just hid near her in a shadow, but at a much more noticeable spot. Hopefully my dad won't be coming down here.
We heard the door open and made sure to steady our breathing. In the silence I could actually hear my heart beating inside my chest. Remembering my chest I felt the pain in it. I knew I had a few broken ribs from my dad's beating. I heard him head down here and closed my eyes wishing to be invisible. If it only worked like that. I heard him heading across the room and made sure I was quiet. My eyes flattered open as I heard him digging across the drawers looking for something. I observed him as he cursed and shook his head. He finally pulled out a gun out of the drawer and looked around. His gaze stopped in Ally's and mine direction. I swallowed hard as I saw him look directly in my eyes, then over to where Ally was. I didn't move a muscle tho, there was still hope he didn't notice us.
He pulled out his gun and shoot just above my head. I stood still no matter that he fired and knew we were here. I heard Ally yelp in pain behind me and immediately turned around jumping in her direction. I saw her holding on to her stomach, I gasped and knelt down next to her mumbling no multiple times to myself.
" I didn't know you were that stupid " I heard my dad say under his breath, but I didn't care. I was too worried over Ally. She had tears coming from her eyes and looked like she was in so much pain. I held her hand and pressed the other one on top of her other hand which she was using to press her wound. " I promise I'll get you out of here " I whisper over to her before giving her a peck on the lips encouraging her to stay strong and showing her I'm here.
I heard him walk up the steps and left us down there on our own. I gazed back just to check if he had really left. I saw he back was empty and sighed. I turned back to Ally and looked at her wounds once again. She was bleeding heavily out of her stomach. I stood up on my feet, cause maybe I can get her to the hospital on time, Maybe if I help her get there she'll be fine. I mean, she has to be. It's only a s-small surgery, she'll make it. Yeah, I know she will
I grabbed her hand and helped her stand up. She stumbled into my arms and held onto her. I felt the warm blood soak through my shirt as she held onto me with both hands, letting go of her stomach. I slowly walked across the room, dragging her along with me while trying not to cause her too much pain. As we approached the steps she groaned and let go of me. She would have fallen to the ground if I didn't keep my arms around her. I pulled her up and looked at her " Ally listen to me, you have to try. We both know you'll make it if you try and for the love of God, please try for me "
She nodded her head, a bit unsure in her answer. I knew she wouldn't make it up the steps so I slowly picked her up, not hurting her in process. She still twitched as I lifted her up into the air, but I already knew she was in pain. I walked up the steps and that's when I heard a phone vibrate. I stopped dead in track. I lowered my gaze down at the basement again and saw it set on the desk there. I placed Ally down on the steps and she gasped in pain as she continued to slowly breathe it in and out.
I quickly went over to the phone and dialed the number. I heard it ringing and tapped my foot anxiously on the ground as soon as I heard the other side stop beeping I froze. Lost for a second, thinking I had no signal and no way of getting her to safety.
" 911 what's your emergency? " I heard the voice on the other side of the line speak out and let out a sigh in relief. " My girlfriend got shoot and is bleeding. It's really bad. And the madman with the gun is still in the building, a few floors up. W-we need help " I stumbled out before telling her our address. The line cut of just as I finished saying it. I swallowed hard and turned around to go back to Ally.
It seemed like the safest thing to do was to stay in here and wait for help. They should be here in less then ten minutes. There was still hope. I always had hope. I sat down next to her and pulled her into my arms. " Don't worry, help is on the way " I told her gently " You'll be fine. I'll make sure of it ". I kissed the top of her head and felt her blood wound. I pressed it, applying pressure to it to minimize the bleeding. It should hold it until the ambulance arrives.
I heard footsteps coming from the hall. I knew it was my dad so I quickly stood up and walked to the top of the steps and just waited for him. Maybe I can stall him off til the ambulance arrives. Ally could get out of here without any other injuries. She's in enough pain as it is and it's all my fault, so it's only fair that I stall him for her sake.
I heard Ally call out my name and looked at her. She was mouthing the words run over to me but I shook my head firmly. There was no way I was about to leave her behind, if it were the other way around she wouldn't want leave without me either. " Please Austin " She whispered " Run while you can. I know you'll make it " She said and her voice faded as she spoke it out gently. I shook my head " I will never leave you behind me specially not while you're hurt. " I told her and she groaned in pain once again. Oh my goodness I wanted to help her so bad but I had no idea how. Her being in pain made me feel that pain. I wished it were the other way around, just so she wouldn't have gotten shoot.
My dad's footsteps came closer and I watched as he took the last staircase down to the level Ally and I were on. He walked down the steps slowly and calmly. He didn't seem stressed or anxious at all. He held his gun proudly in his hand as he stopped walking and faced me. I swallowed hard as his eyes curiously scanned me. I didn't move. I won't say how I was afraid, but I was afraid. And that was it. He lifted the gun up into the air and pointed it towards me. I don't remember more cause he shoot me, right there.
And I died.
