Disclaimer: As always I don't own any of the characters all of that goes to Masashi Kishimoto-sensei
He waited for a moment but there was nothing. Her heart finally gave out. He shook her shoulders and begged but there was nothing. Tears streamed down his face. Akamaru stopped at the gate with Naruto and Sakura in tow.
"No," he thought as he ran for Kiba, but it was too late. Kiba held her body against his and screamed into the heavens.
"HINATAAAAA!"
The world stopped, words faded and everything came to a screeching halt around him. She was gone. Everything that had once bothered him seemed pointless. Kiba stared into the lifeless eyes of his teammate, and the only person he ever loved, and questioned what he was meant to do now. It had always been for her. His only love.
"KIBA!"
He could tell Akamaru was trying to talk to him but the words fell silent to him. He felt the tears stream down his face and the burning pain that took over what was left of his heart.
The burning intensified and continued to spread through Kiba's body but the pain didn't affect him. His world had shattered and no one could bring him out of his pain. People around him screamed. He could tell there was fighting but what did it matter anymore. He felt kunai slid across his arms and legs. He could tell there were spikes in charka as people used jutsus around him. He could even faintly smell the blood of others around him but none of that compared. Nothing compared to the charka signal he couldn't feel or the smell of her blood that clogged his sensitive nose. Nothing compared.
"Look at what you did little puppy!" a voice whispered in his ear reaching into his void emotionless body. He felt the lifeless form of his teammate in his arms start to shift as the voice tried to take her from him.
Kiba's arm shot up and grabbed the accusing voice by the throat. He shoved it to the ground with strength the voice didn't think he had. He brought his face right up to its.
"You will not touch her!" He snarled. Kiba stared into the eyes of the very woman that took his love away from him. He felt his world shift as an audible snap was heard in the clearing. Kagura stared wide-eyed as Kiba's eyes turned icy blue and his face started shifting and changing. Kiba's once human face lengthened into a snout. The long white face contorted into a vicious snarl. His ears lengthened and move to the back of his head were they sat on his skull in rage. The hands that held Kagura down shrank into paws and his nails came into sharp points that sank into Kagura's flesh. Kiba's legs curled under him as they shifted from their natural positions and into hind legs. Fur burst from his cloths as they ripped to pieces around him.
A menacing growl broke loose from his lips. Kiba had turned into a wolf, who was out for revenge and Kagura was stuck underneath him. His eyes burned in hatred. His white fur gleamed in the light. Kiba truly looked magnificent. A beautiful creature of pure white, the only thing that wasn't white was the red markings of his clan on his face.
He was a beautiful animal bent on vengeance and for poor Kagura this was the end. Kiba pushed his claws deeper into Kagura's throat. The group of ninja's around them stared in horror as Kiba's jaws opened reveling glistening sharp teeth. Kagura could see her demise on the horizon. She started thrashing around and screaming at Kiba.
"LITTLE PUPPY CANT DO THIS! I AM KAGURA! I AM THE GREA…" Kagura's screams were cut short as Kiba lunged forward and ripped out her throat. Everyone looked away as Kiba tore Kagura to piece.
"KIBA! KIBA listen to me you have to stop! It's over!" Akamaru barked at him. He tried to circle around and throw Kiba off Kagura's mutilated body but when he got close Kiba would wiped around and snarled at him. For the first time in Akamaru's life he was scared of Kiba. There was no way Akamaru could face Kiba. Kiba was his Alpha and Akamaru knew better then to interrupt an Alpha during a meal. Akamaru shuttered and tried one more time to get close to Kiba.
"Stay away from him, Akamaru," a voice rose above the chaos. Everyone turned to face the voice.
"Kiba, I had hoped this would never happen to you boy," Tsume his mother said sadly. Kiba's ear perked up in mild interest while he continued to rip the already shredded remains of Kaugra's body. Tsume stepped forward and got on her hands and knees. The closer she got to Kiba the more he tensed and began to growl.
Tsume stood up and kicked him off the grotesque remains that didn't even look human anymore. Kiba snarled as a piece of Kagura fell out of his mouth. Tsume stepped toward Hinata's chilling corpse and Kiba snapped.
He lunged forward and latched his teeth into his mother's out stretched arm. Tsume yelled out but grabbed hold of Kiba by the neck and in an amazing feat of strength lifted him up. With her other hand Tsume did a sign and built up her chakra. A seal began to form on Kiba's back.
"REALSE!" Tsume yelled as the seal glowed. Kiba's eyes widened and he let go of Tsume's arm only so he could howl in pain. Tsume dropped Kiba to the ground and covered him in a blanket as his body returned to its original state. She picked up what was left of his hatai and called Akamaru over.
"I need you to take him to the compound," Tsume lifted him off the ground and onto Akamaru's back and sent the pair away.
"WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED HERE?" Naruto yelled through his tears as he knelt next to his newly found and now lost love.
"My condolences Naruto but I can't tell you. It is a clan secret," She bowed showing unwilling respect.
"Now I must go tend to my grieving son," Tsume spat and darted away leaving the teens and guards in shock surrounded by death and blood.
Hinata's funeral was a few days later. The Hyuga compound was draped in black. People milled around working to get everyone what they needed. Tears fell to the ground in a constant flow. In the middle of the court yard stood a tall rock. The name Hinata Uzumaki displayed on it, and a small photo of Hinata was placed at the base. The nobles of the Clan were slightly surprised by the name but Naruto wouldn't have it any other way. They were going to get married when she returned from this last mission. The Clan knew that. Everyone knew that. What right did they have in stopping her from having this one last thing?
Naruto stood next to her grave. With his head hung low as he watched over her. He had told the Hyuga's that she was his wife and he had every right to stay right where he was. In fact he had stayed next to her since she returned. Awake for 3 days refusing to leave her. He looked up as another person came up to Hinata's grave.
Kureinia, Hinata's sensei stood at her grave with her small child in her arms. Her child squirmed in her arms as she hugged him tight and tears rolled down her face. Shikamaru had already given his condolences and stood watch over his teacher's widowed wife.
"Look, Asumaru, that was my beautiful student. Remember she would come and play with you," Kurenia pointed to the picture next to the grave. Her son stopped squirming long enough to look down at the picture. He was only 3 years old but he was smart.
"Nati-nee!" the boy giggled and clapped his hands as he reached for the picture. He knew her. She was the nice lady that danced with the lions and made him smile. He loved her.
"No, Asumaru," she pulled her son away before he could take the picture.
"Nati-nee!" He reached for it again. His mother pulled him in close and hugged him again.
"Nati-nee is with otou-san, Asumaru. She can't come and play anymore," Kurenia cried harder. Asumaru, looked at his mother for a minute trying to understand what she told him. Shiki-nii told him about Otou-san. Asumaru knew that he was a great man and that he can never see him, so that means if Nati-nee was with him.
"Never see Nati-nee again?" Asumaru asked his mother. She nodded. Big crocodile tears began to flow down the small boys face.
"Nati-nee! Nati-nee! Wanta see Nati-nee! Otou-san give Nati-nee BACK!" the little boy wailed, and the people around him cried harder. They were surprised that the small child understood, but they also knew whose child it was. Asuma Saratobi, a ninja that died before he was born. This small child was asking and crying what they all thought.
A small black and blue butterfly landed on Asumaru's nose. The child stopped crying and stared at the butterfly as it opened and closed its wings. It flew off his nose but was accompanied by a small cluster of different butterflies and dragon flies as they landed on Hinata's grave.
Shino stepped forward and patted the small boys arm.
"She loved them," it was short and simple. Shino was never one to say many words but the ones he did say were powerful. He watched his bugs dance and fly around her grave as the people Hinata knew and loved came one by one to say their final goodbyes.
Naruto watched with emotionless eyes as person after person stopped by. The day drew to a close and people began to leave. It was the sad truth as a shinobi. Tomorrow they would have to move on and continue their lives. Naruto was cleaning the stray bits of grass and such off Hinata's grave when one final person stepped up to the grave.
"She really loved you didn't she." Naruto looked up and stared at the person standing there. He instantly was on his feet and had the intruder by the collar.
"What right do you have being here?!" Naruto snarled. The Branch members of the clan stared in horror unable to really do anything to stop them.
"She was my teammate Naruto," Kiba said with no emotion in his voice. Akamaru stood behind him with his ears alert and his eyes trained on Kiba.
"YOU ARE THE REASON SHE IS DEAD!" Naruto screamed in Kiba's face. Kiba looked at him un flinched by anything he said.
"I know." Naruto was shocked for a moment. This was Kiba the king of never backing down, and here he was taking everything Naruto gave him. Naruto threw him to the ground and returned to his station at Hinata's grave.
"Good bye," Kiba left the compound with tears still falling down his face, because even in death she chose Naruto again.
Few days later
The gates of the Konoha stood tall in front of an out of breath young woman and her sober teacher. The woman's silvery hair covered her face and her hands sat on her knees as she fought for breath. Her pale skin glistened with sweat as she fought not to collapse right then and there.
"Kentachi-sensei, why did we come back so soon? I thought you said we were going to be gone for a few years? It's only been a couple months," the young woman panted out.
"A good friend of mine lost one of her students. She asked if I could come back and speak with her," Kentachi answered her. He stood tall without a drop of sweat on his dark skin and white hair stayed in the perfect gravity defying spikes. He looked down at his student and smiled before nodded to himself as he stepped into the village. He paused and nodding hello to the guards then disappeared from sight, leaving his ID with the guards for his student to take back.
"YOU GOT THE LETTER LAST NIGHT! WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF CLOUD COUNTRY! KENTACHI-SENSEI WAIT I'M TRIED!" The woman flipped her long sliver mess of hair behind her.
"My apologizes!" she called back at the guards as she took the IDs and ran after her sensei.
The Guards stared at each other in awe. The journey from Cloud to Konoha was at least a week journey with few stops. Yet these two made it in what sounded like a night.
"Was that who I thought it was?" one asked as the other nodded.
"I would have never made it….." the same guard commented as the other once again nodded.
"I can never keep up with those two! Jeez bond with a human they said! It will be fun they said!" a large voice panted next to the still shocked guards. The guards turned and came face to face with a large white tiger.
"But no instead of a simple person, I get this wacked out child! One that hasn't even finished her training! And has a corky sensei that thinks running half way across the continent in one night is ok! AHHHH! SHOHA! WAIT!" It roared before racing off after the other ninjas.
"Did that tiger just talk?"
The other guard simple nodded.
