"Woah, that was awesome! Did you see that Mana? The way the water just went woosh and carried us off like that? That was so much fun, was..n't...it?" Riolu stammers when Mana glares at him. He laughs nervously, gulping loudly and backing away from her. Instead, he changes the subject.
"S-so, where exactly are we?" He looks over at a Teddiursa, who smiles happily. "This is a hot spring and that over there, is Torkoal," Teddiursa nods over to a torkoal who just walked to the center where he took his place.
"Yep, this is The Hot Spring, the only spring to heal and relax aching muscles, joints; etcetera, etcetera. I'll even show you on the map," Torkoal leans over and grabs a bag from his left. Mana recognizes it as hers and Riolu's. She makes her way towards the pokemon, but the water slows her down. Riolu comes up behind her and pushes her towards the torkoal. Some of the water spills over when Mana lands on the rocky platform. Her friend leans over, his arms folded on the platform while the rest of him is in the water. Torkoal clears his throat, glancing between the two pokemon. He looks down at the map, pointing towards something.
"That right there is the waterfall in which you came from and right over here," Torkoal drags his claw a couple of inches, "is the hot springs where we are at now. You youngsters traveled a ways to get here, but I'm quite surprised the water was the source of your travels. An interesting way to transport pokemon, hmm..."
Riolu and Mana spent a few more hours with Torkoal and the rest of the pokemon in the spring. By the time the sun began to call it a night, the young rookies decided it was time to head home. They ate a few apples and gummies from their bag, talked about the new discovery they had made and decided to tell Chatot all about their findings. When they entered the guild, most of the pokemon were already asleep so they tiptoed their way to their room so as not to disturb anyone. Riolu was the first to fall asleep while Mana tossed and turned. Finally, she gives up, staring out their window with sleepless eyes.
"I promise, I won't let him harm you. But right now, we need to figure out a way to save our future. Can you send me into the past?" The human's partner looks at her in shock.
"Are you crazy? That's exactly what he's waiting for! He's got his minions hunting us down and we are taking a big risk just by coming here. What?" Her partner stops as the human girl laughs. In a time where everything is on the line and his partner is laughing?
"I know what's ahead of us. I have already forseen that and that is why we are going to continue with this plan." "I don't get it." "It's simple. He knows I can see the future, so he won't know that we'll be taking the easy route because he'll be expecting us to take a different path."
Her partner looks at the human even more confused. She was never good at properly explaining herself and now is no different. The pokemon sighs and looks over at the other pokemon who is patiently waiting.
"Well...if you really think this plan will work..."
Mana wakes up and looks over to see Riolu gone. She shakes her head, her dream already forgotten. She walks out of the room and into the den where Riolu and Chatot are discussing something.
"...Then we just spouted out of this hole and into a hot spring where we met a bunch of pokemon and Torkoal. I'm sorry if we failed our mission. And it was a really big assignment you gave us-"
"Failed? Oh, definitely not! I say this is a very interesting discovery. You've both done a tremendous job of finding out all this information. If it wasn't for you two, no one would have ever known about such a place." Both Chatot and Riolu chuckle and continue to talk giddily to each other while Mana looks down. Of course it was from the future. If we had not gone there, would that mean that that figure in the vision would not go the hot springs? And even so, why am I having these visions? What's causing them and what can I do to stop them from coming?
"...Well, it does sound quite familiar. I wonder if the Guildmaster has been there before," Chatot hops into Wigglytuff's office and a minute later, comes right back out. "Hmm, it seems that the Guildmaster has already been there once before but was unable to remember it because it happened so suddenly. Something about a tidal wave? Hmm, oh well. Anyways, I want you both to relax today and tomorrow will be a new day." Chatot leaves a depressed riolu and a cyndaquil by themselves. Riolu walks back to his room and plops down on his bed.
"I was so happy to have finally discovered something, but since the Guildmaster had already found it, our mission was a waste. I dunno Mana, maybe you have visions of both the past and the future."
"I guess..." Mana mumbles, watching Riolu turn over.
"Yesterday was a lot of fun and today was the most relaxing day I've ever had, but sometimes I wish we'd go on more adventures that gives us clues about my relic and your memory." Riolu sighs, closing his eyes. Within seconds, he is asleep and Mana is alone to wonder. If they did find the answer to Riolu's relic fragment, then his dream would come true. If my memory came back, would we still be Team Future? If his dream does come true, then what happens to us? I want him to be happy, but I don't know if I really want my memory to come back. Wait a minute... what if my memory is somehow connected to the relic? Mana suddenly thinks to herself. She chuckles quietly.
"That would be impossible. But wait, a connection?" Mana sits up, her mind now working overtime. When I had that vision about Wigglytuff, I was touching the giant crystal at that time. Does that mean that my visions have something to do with coming in contact with something? If that's true, then maybe I could use it to my advantage and help Riolu with his dream!
"But I don't get it... Before, I had touched Azurill's apple and Drowzee's arm and had a vision of the future. When I was knocked by the waterfall and touched the crystal, I had a vision of the past. Does this mean that depending on what or who I come into contact with, I'll either see the past or the future?" Mana looks up and stares at the moon outside her window. Just then, Chatot hops in.
"Ahh, Team Future. The Guildmaster would like to see you before you...uhh...sleep. Hm, it looks like Riolu is already asleep. Well Mana, you'll be responsible for filling him in on the details." The cyndaquil follows the chatot into the Guildmaster's office. Wigglytuff smiles widely at her and takes a deep breath.
"I've decided that we are all going on an expedition soon. I don't know when or where except that it will be pretty far away. It will be tough, but that's why I want you to pack carefully and make sure you and your...uhhh...partner are fully prepared before the guild heads out. Normally, rookies would not be allowed to come, but I have heard great things about you so I am inviting you to join us," Wigglytuff says, glancing over at Chatot who nods in agreement. After thanking the Guildmaster and Chatot, Mana hurries back to her room. The worries she had before are locked away and the excitement she is feels now is building up as she tries to get some sleep.
