Sorry for the late update! Here's my excuse: So, I had to type this one all up last night. I had a chapter already written, but it was a filler and not very well written so I decided to give you guys this instead. My editor didn't get a chance to read it so I didn't get to update.
I haven't written a wedding before so I hope this is pretty good. Oh, no one voted for a dress so I just chose one.
Thank you all so much for your support! Thank you, queenc1, cookiehamster, LoveShipper, phia514, Guest and Marissa for your reviews! I got a request in a review for more romance so I hope this fits the bill. Please enjoy :)
Disclaimer: I still don't own Austin and Ally
I run my hands along the silky silver material I'm wearing. I finally picked my dress and it's so beautiful! It was a very difficult decision, but I chose the silver mermaid one that has a sleeve off the shoulder. It's happening! It's really happening! I can't believe today is really my wedding day. Trish, Mimi, Rydel and I are at my house finishing up getting ready. Everyone else is already at the beach. My friends and soon to be mother in-law are changed into their dresses and are applying makeup. Well, they were applying their own makeup until a second ago, but now Rydel is doing my hair, Trish is doing my makeup and Mimi is taking pictures of everything.
"Close your eyes for me," Trish instructs. I obey, fully surrendered to my friends' capabilities. I feel her apply eye shadow and eye liner to my closed lids. "Now open and look up." She adds mascara to my eyelashes. Rydel is still doing things with my hair. After a few more minutes, they move in front of me to inspect their work.
"Looks good!" Trish says grinning.
"You look beautiful, Ally!" Rydel comments, smiling widely. I smile back at them.
"Thanks, guys!" I move to stand in front of the full length mirror and look at myself. Strands of my hair are pulled back on either side of my face and secured in the back while the rest is left to curl around my shoulders. Light purple shadows my brown eyes and my lips are a light pink. The gorgeous dress fits my body perfectly and is so comfortable, its silvery cloth making me smile. "Whoa, you guys are miracle workers!" I tell them, smiling. I just can't seem to stop smiling today.
Mimi comes up behind me holding a delicate pearl necklace. She clasps it around my neck saying, "Something old." It and my silver treble clef necklace look nice together, not too much or too chunky.
Trish follows, handing me silver sandals, "Something new." I smile and slip them onto my feet. "The something borrowed is the nail polish and makeup I used on you." That's typical Trish for you.
"Something blue is in your hair already," Rydel finishes the saying. I notice that what's holding my hair up is a silver clip with blue gems in it.
I put my hands over my mouth, "You guys shouldn't have!" I gasp.
They smile, "But we wanted to, Ally," Mimi speaks for them. I hug each of them and whisper my thanks to each as I do. "Well, it's time to go!" Mimi says, hurrying us out the door after a final bathroom break and glance in the mirror. I sit in the back of my car with Trish while Mimi drives and Rydel sits beside her. I'm suddenly feeling very nervous and my mind wanders back to the conversation I had with Austin last night.
-Flash Back-
My head rests on Austin's chest and I can hear his heart beating. He fiddles with my hair, twirling it around his fingers.
He starts speaking, "I remember when I first saw you I felt something happen in my chest. My heart started to beat unusually fast. I suddenly wondered what the pretty girl who brought cookies thought of how I was dressed. I suppose you could call it love at first sight. As we became close, my feelings started to grow. Just laying here now, I feel like fireworks are shooting out of my chest, but it's not painful. I want to get up and dance around like a maniac and at the same time lay here and enjoy this moment with you." Austin falls quiet. The rising and falling of his chest is relaxing and I think I might doze off. I feel the need to respond somehow to what he said though.
"Wow. That's so deep, Austin. I'm sorry I've been doubtful during this relationship. When I first saw you, I thought you to be something of a playboy. I was the one who made us fight both during the Chicago trip and the camping trip. I'm so sorry, Austin! I've felt my attraction to you grow though. It started out as a feeling. Which then grew into a hope, which then turned into a quiet thought, which then turned into a quiet word. And then that word grew louder and louder, 'til it was a battle cry." Austin chuckles. "Yeah, I know that sounded kinda cheesy, but it's what came to mind and it fit, I guess."
"It's cheesy, but I like it."
We resume silence until I break it again, "I-I really do love you, Austin."
"I know. I love you too, Als. Hey, when did you first start to like-like me?" he asks me. He's stroking my hair now.
I don't really know. It's like those friends who you don't know how or when you became friends, you just did. "Well, it might have been the party; you at least were bumped up a level. I really liked the day that we hung out together and played games. It was really special. I suppose you could say that was when I first started getting butterflies in my stomach."
"Mmm…that was a good day. Imagine if I didn't move in across your street? What if some old man who had small, angry dogs that yip all the time moved in instead?"
I laugh lightly, "That would have been terrible. I would have never met you." Lying there, staring up at the night sky, it's the most peaceful I've felt all week except for when Austin took me on the little break and we went sailing.
"It's getting late, we should go inside. It was a long day and there's a lot of activity happening tomorrow."
"Ok." I lean up and Austin scoots out from under me. He stands up and picks me up. I gasp, surprised and he chuckles. He carries me up to my room where I grab my pajamas and go into my bathroom to change while he waits on my bed. When I come out, I get in bed and he tucks the covers around me. He's made it a habit to tuck me in for some reason. I think it's cute so I don't question his actions. Holding my cheek in his warm hand, he plants a kiss on the tip of my nose and my forehead.
"Sleep well, Als. See you in the morning."
"G'night, Austin." I close my eyes and roll over. I hear his footsteps as he leaves and shuts off the light. Sighing, I let my thoughts wander until gradually, I fall asleep.
-End Flash Back -
I twirl my hair around my fingers, shaking my head to ward off the nerves. I'm ready for this. The drive is quick and soon we're all at the beach. Mimi says goodbye and sits down in the small audience made up of her, a blond man who I think is her brother, Ellington, both sets of Austin's grandparents, my grandma on my mom's side, my grandfather on my dad's side and some other people who are extended family. I also spot my step-mom which comes as sort of a surprise. I invited her because I thought it would be the polite and nice thing to do, but I hadn't actually expected her to show up.
R5's song, "Falling for You," starts to play. Trish gives me a warm smile and walks down the strip of sand to her place on the right side of a wooden podium. Rydel follows and stands beside her. I can see what's happening from my position while they can't see me. I see Austin standing on the left side of the podium with Riker right beside him and Dez next in line. A man stands behind the podium. He's wearing a crisp suit and his hair is neat. He appears middle-aged. The music changes to the classic wedding music and Mike steps up beside me.
"Ready, Ally?" he asks me. I nod and loop my arm through his. A pleasant breeze blows through my loose hair and the warm sunlight brushes my bare skin. I'm feeling nervous again because everyone's watching me, but then I lock eyes with Austin and it all goes away.
I wipe my sweaty hands on my pants. "Riker, I'm kinda nervous. What if this doesn't work out? What if Ally and I stop feeling like this to each other? We haven't known each other that long."
Riker places a hand on my shoulder, "Chill, Austin. It'll all work out, anyone can see that. You're just nervous 'cause it's happening now, as soon as you see her, you'll feel better."
I smile, "Thanks." I look around, it's a nice day. The sun isn't too hot and there's a nice breeze. I'm standing in front of a few rows of chairs that are slowly filling in with people. There's this white wood thing above all the people around the podium. It's decorated with the flowers we bought and a white sheer material. A seagull cries overhead and I listen to the gentle lapping of the waves on the beach. Suddenly, the music starts up and Rydel walks down the aisle, followed by Trish. They both look great and are carrying their bouquets. They take their places on the other side of the officiator and the music changes again. This time, Ally appears, her arm linked with my dad's. She is so beautiful. I hadn't gotten to see the dress before or Ally all day. Her hair's done all pretty and I see she's wearing a pearl necklace along with the one I gave her. I suck in a quiet breath and my eyes lock with hers.
My dad releases her arm and takes his seat in the audience while Ally comes and stands across from me. Her right hand grips my left one. The officiator speaks, "Friends, we have joined here today to share with Austin and Ally an important moment in their lives. Their time together, they have seen their love and understanding of each other grow and blossom and now they have decided to live out the rest of their lives as one. Today, we will bring these two together in holy matrimony. If anyone opposes the union of this man and woman, speak now or forever hold your peace." No one objects so he continues, "The best man will now say a few words."
Riker steps forward and reads off a sheet of paper, "I've known Austin for quite some time. I can tell he really does love Ally. I'm going to share a little story with you now." He pauses for effect and continues, "Once, there was a little bird that was quite happy with his life, but still felt like something was missing. Wanting a change of scenery, he flew to a different tree. In this tree he met another little bird who was very pretty. They became quick friends. The two birds loved spending time together and singing. One day, the little male bird sang his mating call. At first the female bird didn't respond, but then quickly found her voice. They decided to become mates and lived together happily." Riker finishes his little story and everyone's smiling. It was cute how he compared Ally and me to birds.
"And now the maid of honor."
Trish steps forward and clears her throat, "Ally and I have been best friends since kindergarten. I remember how when we were little, we promised each other that when we got married we would be each other's maid of honor. I take pride in that today I am fulfilling this promise with my life-long friend. I believe that she and Austin will have a good life together. And Austin, if you ever hurt Ally, just know that I will hunt you down," here she turns to me. My eyes widen as I shake my head.
"I won't, Trish!" I quickly say.
She smiles evilly and continues, "Anyway, these two are great together so let's hurry up the wedding and get to the reception!" Everyone laughs at Trish's antics.
"The bride and groom have written their own vows, which they will now share," the officiator states.
It's my turn and I start to speak, "Ally, from the moment I met you, I knew you were special. You proved this over and over again as I continued to fall in love with you. I love your smile and the color of your eyes. I love how you're musical and fun. I will care for you in sickness and in health; in writer's block and in times of inspiration. We'll write music together and enjoy life. I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in your goals, to honor and respect you, to laugh with you and cry with you, and to cherish you forever." I gulp and smile at her encouragingly.
Ally's eyes are teary as she begins, "Austin, it's been very up and down in the time I've known you, but you were always there for me. I love you so much. I can't wait to live life with you. I promise to always love you, through sickness, stupidity, sorrow, health, brilliance and joy. I promise to support your goals and career, to honor and respect you and to be in touch with your feelings. I promise to cook you pancakes and sing with you. And I promise to cherish you forever." I'm surprised to find that my cheeks are damp, but I'm smiling as widely as the Cheshire Cat. I squeeze her hand.
Ryland walks up to us, holding the rings. I take Ally's and Ally takes mine. It's the officiator's turn, "Please repeat after me. I, Austin Monica Moon give you this ring as a symbol of my eternal love and commitment to you."
I repeat his words, cringing at my middle name, "I, Austin Monica Moon give you this ring as a symbol of my eternal love and commitment to you." I slip her engagement ring along with another simple silver band onto Ally's left hand's ring finger. I tune out the officiator's next words because I prefer to hear them solely from Ally's mouth.
"I, Allyson Marie Dawson give you this ring as a symbol of my eternal love and commitment to you," she says and puts a simple ring on my left-hand ring finger.
"By the power vested in me by the State of Miami, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride." I lean in and brush my lips against Ally's. It's an amazing feeling and I'm almost glad she wanted to save it for this moment.
I hear the officiator say, "You may now kiss the bride," and I watch Austin lean into me. His lips brush against mine lightly. It's almost tentative, but it sends a chill right through me. My heart starts pounding harder and heat blossoms in my chest. How did I last so long? It must have been because I didn't know what it felt like. It's amazing and makes me want more. All too soon, Austin pulls away and we smile at each other.
"I present to you, the newly married couple, Mr. and Mrs. Moon," says the officiator. There's applause from the audience and Austin and I exit, still holding hands. The rest of the night goes by in a blur. We rented out some restaurant with a large open space in the middle. There's delicious food and great music. The DJ stops everyone at some point and has Austin and me do a dance. Secretly I'd been practicing with Rydel all week so I'd be ready.
Take my hand, I'll teach you to dance.
My hand hasn't left Austin's since the wedding. I put my other on his shoulder and he puts his on my waist. We start moving around on the dance floor. There's a spotlight on us and everybody's looking, but I'm not afraid because I'm with Austin. A pang goes through my chest as I wish that my dad was here to see.
Spin you around, won't let you fall down.
Would you let me lead?
You can step on my feet, give it a try, it'll be alright.
Austin spins me as we continue around the room.
The room's hush, hush and now is our moment.
Take it in feel it all and hold it.
The room's silent except for the music and the noise of our feet moving.
Eyes on you, eyes on me.
We're doing this right.
'Cause lovers dance when they're feeling in love,
Spotlight's shining. It's all about us.
It's oh, oh, all,
About ah, ah, us.
I love Austin. I don't know what I could do without him. He'll help me and love me. Tonight is all about us. This song is very fitting. I think it's also the song Austin sang to me on the camping trip.
And every heart in the room will melt,
This is a feeling I've never felt,
But it's all about us.
I've never felt this way about anyone before, not even for my mom. It's a different kind of love than I had for her. After that chorus, everyone else joins into the dance. After that, there's more dancing and then we cut the cake. It's mint chocolate. I smash it into Austin's face after we cut it, but then I carefully wipe it off with my fingers, licking the frosting off them. He just grins and kisses me. At some point we say goodbye to everyone and leave in Austin's truck. Trish agreed to bring my bug home for me. We stop at a nice hotel where we'll be spending the night before leaving on our plane tomorrow for our honeymoon. I think the boys already brought our stuff here. Austin opens my door for me and carries me bridal style into the hotel and into the elevator. Austin carries me out into the hall, only putting me down on my own feet to unlock the door of a room before sweeping me up again and depositing me on the bed. He goes into the bathroom and I hear the shower turn on. After he comes out all clean and wearing sweats, I take my turn and slip into some simple pjs. I crawl into the bed beside him. It's not uncomfortable sleeping with another person like I thought it'd be. I roll over and face him.
He smiles, "Ally Moon." I find his warm lips pressed against mine. It starts out light, similar to the one we had when the officiator married us. Austin cups my cheek in his hand and it becomes more passionate. We break away, needing to breath.
"I like the sound of that."
