Summertime - Bro x (insertFavoriteAnimal)Reader

I watched intently as his feathers shifted in the suns path of lights, little fluttering shimmers of light moving across us. I missed the days of being able to take shelter under them and be protected from the hardships of life. The past was a place of childish fun and no worries, or atleast that's how it's supposed to be, not all of us exactly had the carefree luxury. I shifted and leaned against the rough bark of the giant tree helping hide us from the world. I glanced down at the dew covered grass below us and looked at the subtle house through the thick branches, feet swinging gently back and fourth.

"Hey, Davey. Do you ever want to go back to our timeline, you know, back to those days."

"I've wished that before." I kept my focus on the house and watched as Bro and Bot emerged from the shared house, "but I don't want to leave Bot behind. Also, not to sound like an ass, but those days weren't the best to be honest." I nodded quietly at his words and watched as his wings fluttered once more, making me drop the topic. It wasn't too much of a sore subject but it still hurt. It always will, whether it's a bit or a lot. As a gentle summer breeze floated past it made the branches sway to and from, exposing the harsh light of the sun. I squinted at the light and gently giggled as the breeze blew my (h/c) (f/a) ears a bit.

"If I could do one thing though," I looked at him intently at he drew out his sentence in that barely noticeable texan drawl, "I'd go back and prevent that day from happening. I'd try and be a good friend instead of being an oblivious asshole. I shoulda protected you from her, but I didn't, and she's gone and taken a tole on you..."

"Davey..." I managed to whisper out before clamping my eyes shut, I would not cry, I got over that. "You know it's not your fault. You offered me a place of safety but I was stupid. I just wanted to hold onto that small shred of hope, hope that I'd wake up to a loving mother who actually cared... I should've listened, but you know me, the stupid idiot. I... I'm somewhat happy that it happened... Don't think badly of me please, but it was one of the first times she ever showed me attention." I grabbed the hem of my sweater and wiped my eyes with the other hand.

"Sorry for bringing it up _," I giggled when he nudged me with his left wing, "looks like we have company..." I glanced down to see Bro and Bot standing on the ground below us, arms crossed and faces drawn into soft expressions.

"Are you two okay up there?" I sighed and flopped onto my side as a response, forgetting that the branch wasn't the floor. The left half of my body slipped off the rough bark and before I could fall I clasped onto the main trunk. My hands fumbled for a strong branch and my feet clawed against the tree. I faintly heard Davey caw and I gasped loudly when two taloned hands grabbed my arms, hoisting me back up onto the branch. I mumbled a quick thanks and steadied myself against the tree.

"Shit, _! Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, just a bit startled." I gave a nervous chuckle before lowering myself onto the lower branch, climbing down one by one. In a few seconds I was on the lowest branch and let my feet drop, hands holding me up, and then released my grasp, landing on the soft grass. I watched as Davey floated down slowly and perched himself on the lowest branch, wings glittering with the Suns rays.

"_, you hurt?" I glanced up at Bro before smiling and shaking my head.

"It's okay, I'm fine." I gave a quick thumbs up before turnings to Davey, "you okay?" He tilted his head to the side before raising a brow at me.

"Why wouldn't I be?" I shrugged.

"You get, ruffled, very easily," I snorted before giggling, "wouldn't want that to happen would we?"

"... No." He shook his head and flipped me off before staring me down.

"Are we really gonna start the bird jokes now?"

"Well-"

"Okay you two," I squealed when two hands wrapped around my waist, "that's enough for today."

"Broooooo!" I giggled when he put me on his shoulder and began walking to our secret location, waving to Davey and blushing when I saw Brobot already mackin on him. Jeez, obvious and horny much.

"_, are you sure you're okay?"

"Yeah of course babe." I smiled when we reached our secret destination and hopped off his shoulders and flopped into the soft grass. I was about to close my eyes and drift when a pair of lips molded with mine. The kiss lasted a minute before he pulled away, both of us breathless.

"What are you doing Bro?"

"Kissing your boo boos."

"Hehe, but Bro," I grinned when he trailed kisses along my face, "I didn't hurt my lips."

"Shh, no time for reason, only pretend." I giggled again and pressed my mouth to his, arms going to around his neck. Damn, I loved summer.
