"Telepathic Speech"

[Pokemon speech]

Route 202… (Normal POV)

After packing away their camping materials Jared, Daryl, and Zach all departed to the largest city in Sinnoh, Jubilife City. All three of them were excited to go, especially Zach. In fact he was jumping for joy, skipping every step of the way, getting ahead of the group.

"You seem to be in a good mood," Jared said. "Why is that?"

Zach stopped skipping and turned around, walking backwards with a big grin on his face. He put his hands behind his head and said, "It's because Jubilife City is the biggest city in Sinnoh! You can get practically anything there."

"Really?" Jared feigned curiosity, already knowing this from the internet in his world.

"Yeah," Daryl said. "It's also a good place to get some tissues for your pokemon." The guys laughed, knowing all too well what Daryl was talking about.

Previously on their adventures, Gem and Annabeth, Jared's only two pokemon, got nosebleeds from seeing him in the buff. Since then, he had to keep them in their pokeballs because they don't have the energy to walk.

After their laughing died down, Jared asked another question, "So do you guys know what you're gonna buy once we get there?"

The other two thought about it, Daryl was the first one to speak up, "I'm thinking of buying some more supplies, like food and such. We're kind of running low, but other than that we're good."

"Well, I'm thinking of getting me some books," Zach said.

"Books?" Jared and Daryl both looked at each other in surprise before looking back at Zach "What kind of books?"

"Any kind of book, I don't really know yet," he shrugged.

Daryl playfully punched Zach in the arm when he caught up. "I didn't know you were such a bookworm."

"Yeah well, back when I was still… human, I didn't get to go out much," he sighed. "So the only thing I could do for fun was read."

"Well it's better than watching TV all day," Jared added.

Zach chuckled, "Yeah, that's for sure."

The remaining hour the guys walked was quiet yet peaceful. The day was clear, and the sun was up high with barely a cloud in the sky. Many different types of bird pokemon could be seen flying through the air. The occasional trainer or wild pokemon could be found along the route, but they were no problem for any of the three. As the sun reached its peak in the sky, the trio stopped on top of a small hill as they have finally made it to the city.

"There it is guys," Daryl announced, "the biggest city in Sinnoh, Jubilife City."

Zach's eye were practically sparkling with excitement, a soft squeal could be heard coming from him. He was shaking slightly and light-headed, but it didn't stop him from rushing down the hill into the city. As he ran, he tripped and fell forward onto his face. He lifted his face up in a daze and looked back to see what he tripped on. An elongated, shadowy hand had grabbed him around one of his ankles. Following the hand back to the source, he found it was Jared who used his shadow sneak to trip him.

"What did you do that for!?" He yelled.

Jared sighed, "Sorry Zach, but we got to stick together. A big city like that would get you lost in snap."

"Fine," he groaned in protest. "But next time just tell me alright."

"If you're not running into something rash before I could tell you, then yeah, sure." Zach just rolled his eyes and got up from the floor.

After Zach dusted off himself and waited for the others to catch up, they all headed into the city for the first time. It was so much bigger than the game, having more apartments and other living quarters, multiple markets, and even a small park in the middle of the city. As they were sightseeing, they later found the Pokemon Center near the left edge of the city. They went inside to check up on their pokemon and to make a plan on what to do next in the city.

Inside the Pokemon Center…

[Mmmm…] The groans and murmurs of the unconscious Gem and Annabeth could be heard in the small medical room they were staying at. Jared was there as well, patiently reading a magazine that was in the room, waiting for his two pokemon to awake. As Jared flips to the next page, Gem was the first to stir from her idle state.

[Ugh… what happened?] Gem said aloud, holding her hand to her head.

"You were asleep for some time," Jared told her, still reading. "You've loss a bit of blood at the creek."

[The… the creek? What—] suddenly it hit her. The search on Jared's whereabouts, the fight with Annabeth, Jared in the buff, all her memories came back like a brick to the face. She blushed hard as she remembered the last detail of what happened.

"W-where are we?" She asked, switching to telepathy.

"We're at the Pokemon Center," Jared's answered. "I'm the only one here with you two while everyone else went to buy some supplies."

"What do you mean about 'you two'?" Jared pointed at the still unconscious Annabeth to the right of Gem.

She sighed, "Figures…"

"So what caused you two to loss so much blood?" Jared inquired, looking up from his magazine. "I mean, if you girls were feeling ill before, you should have told me sooner."

Gem was too embarrassed to look Jared in the eyes to answer properly, "I-it's nothing y-you should be worried about."

He could sense her discomfort and so he gave up on getting an answer, "Alright, if you say so. Anyhow, why don't we go meet up with the others as soon as Annabeth wakes up, okay?

"Why wait when we could go right now?" Gem was ready to leave if it meant leaving Annabeth behind.

"Sorry Gem, but not right now," he got up and sat next to Gem. "You know that both of you are my friends, so we have to wait for Annabeth to wake up."

She tried to get angry, pouting, but unable to as Jared began petting her head chuckling. "…okay."

He smiled wide when she finally gave in. "Good. In the meantime, why don't you get more rest while I get us some food, okay?"

She nodded as he tucked her in. He then got up and left the room later on to get the food he promised. Before Gem could fall asleep, Annabeth began to rustle from her rest. Her mouth opened wide as she yawned. She stretched a little before looking around her surrounding area before her eyes stopped at Gem.

[Oh, hey there kid,] She teased.

Gem pouted again and crosses her arms, [I'm not a kid!]

[Please, the way you're acting, you probably are one.] Gem threw her pillow at Annabeth, get her a bit irritated.

[If I'm a kid then that makes you an old hag!] That got her nerves.

[You want to fight? Then bring it.] Flames burst out of her wrists as she balled her hands into fists.

[You wanna go?!] Gem raised her hands as her eye glowed with blue psychic energy.

As the two girls went at it, Jared suddenly open the door carrying two trays of food. One tray had pokemon food while the other tray held a variety of sandwiches. The trays began to float as they were caught in Gem's psychic hold. Both the trays, including the food, were flung towards Annabeth, only to be incinerated by a flamethrower attack. Unfortunately, Jared was also in the path of that attack so he was burnt to a crisp as well.

With an audible thud, he fell to the floor unconscious from the flames. The noise was able to stop the girls' fight momentarily as they finally realize that Jared came into the room a while ago. They quickly rushed to his side to see if he was okay.

[Oh my Arceus, Jared are you okay?!] Annabeth held him by the shoulders as she shook him in remorse.

[Of course he's not okay!]Gem yelled. [You and your stupid flamethrower attack was the one that knocked him out!]

[Hey don't blame this on me, I didn't see him there!] She got up in Gem's face.

Gem pushed her back and yelled, [Just because you didn't see him doesn't mean it's not your fault!]

[You wanna go!] Again, Annabeth was itching for a fight.

[Bring it chicken face!]

One hour later…

[This… is getting us… nowhere…] Gem panted, lying down on the floor exhausted.

Annabeth, also on the floor, nodded in agreement, [So… now what…?]

Both the girls looked over to the still unconscious Jared, their thoughts processing the next thing to do. They crawled over to him, like lionesses stalking their prey. They looked at each other, both having the same idea and the same sinister smile.

[You thinking what I'm thinking?] Annabeth asked.

Gem nodded, [Thinking of giving him CPR, right?]

[You betcha. So… my idea means I go first,] Annabeth moved her face close to Jared's, about to give him the "breath of life" right before Gem stopped her with her psychic powers.

She lifted her off of Jared before saying, [You mean my idea, so I go first.]

[No… it was my idea…]

[No, mine!]

[Mine!]

Suddenly, Jared coughed out soot and smoke, awake from his charred state. He slowly sat up, a little drowsy and coughed once more before saying, "Is nap time over?"

He looked around the room, seeing the two girls huddled in a corner. He asked, "Why you two over there like that?"

The girls didn't answer him. They were too busy silently crying that they didn't take advantage of his unconscious state earlier. As they cried, Jared received a call from Daryl and Zach through the pokemon center's phone line.

He picked up and asked, "Hello? You've reached Deus Offices, how may I help you?"

"Ha, ha very funny Jared," Daryl said over his pokegear. "Zach and I were wondering if Gem and Annabeth are a wake yet. We're almost done shopping and we know you haven't had a chance to get your stuff yet so…?"

"Yeah they're awake," he replied. "I'm on my way, okay?"

"Cool, see you by the café we passed by earlier alright? Okay, bye." They both hung up.

Jared looked over to his girls over at the corner, knowing they were depressed, but not knowing why. So he thought maybe he could cheer them up some way so he said, "So… do you girls want to go shopping?"

Both their ears picked up when they heard the world "shopping." They quickly rushed over to Jared and hugged him tightly.

"Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!" They jumped for joy while still holding on to him.

Jared could help but smile as the girls were back in better mood, but knew that his wallet is gonna be three times emptier that day.

Later that day… (Jared's POV)

We left the Pokemon Center a while ago to meet up with Zach and Daryl at the café we saw when we first got to the city. It was called Café le Doux, a small café that sold many different types of sweets. There were so many, that I couldn't even count all of the kinds they sold. Anyway, the girls and I made it to the café first, casually waiting for Daryl and Zach to return. I let the girls order a few sweets while waiting.

When I finally see the guys return, I see that Daryl had let Dark out of her pokeball, and he and Zach were carrying like fifty different bags of clothing. Once they got to where we were and were seated, he explained to me that only two of the fifty bags were his and Zach's… not a big surprise really.

The sweets finally arrived a minute later when everyone was here. An entire cart full of cakes, cookies, parfaits and whatever else is considered a sweet treat arrived at the scene, making my jaw drop at the sheer amount that Gem and Annabeth ordered. I looked over to them seeing that they too were surprised.

We all ate our fill. Gem and Annabeth were feeling content, but I can't help but notice they were regretting something. Not sure what it is, but I'm sure it's nothing. After a while, Daryl spoke up.

"Hey Jared," I looked over to him when he spoke. "You never told us, what were you planning to buy?"

I thought it over, "I'm not sure…"

"Then I have an idea then," Everyone looked over at Dark's direction. "Why don't we look around the city once more? You'd probably find something you'd want."

I regarded her idea with appeal, and then nodded. "Why not," I said as I got up from my seat. "Come one everyone let's go!"

Few hours later…

I instantly regretted my decision since then. When we began shopping, all the girls began buying everything in sight. Gem got new dresses from some kind of Lolita shop, the kind that specialized in small frilly dresses. Truth be told, I didn't know that she could even take off he dress, they never really confirmed that in the wiki. Annabeth went to nearly every bakery in the city, trying out and buying every pastry they had. Dark got some weird black-magic kind of stuff from back alley shops that kinda creeps me out. And guess who had to carry all their stuff? Us guys, that's who.

Yet an obvious questioned formed in my head to which I proceeded to say, "Where are we getting the money to buy all this stuff?"

Daryl, who's back looked like it'd break any second from carrying the bags, said, "I'm paying for all of it unfortunately."

"I'm not surprised we haven't run out of cash by now…" he sighed in response.

"Truth be told, if this keeps up, we'll have less than nine hundred poke-dollars left." I didn't respond, too distracted from what I saw through a particular shop's window.

"Hey Jared, you listening?" I was still staring into the store window. I dropped all the bags I was carrying and practically mushed against the store window.

"Jared, you okay?" Zach said, concerned for my well-being.

"Look," was all I said.

He and everyone else soon peaked through the window I practically smashed my face against. They looked in every direction but couldn't see what I could see. And what I saw was the greatest damn thing I'd ever find in a store.

"Over there," I said, "all the way in the back of the store."

All their eyes directed their attention to the back of the store. Hanging on one of the racks was a white ski cap with a black headband attached. In the middle of the headband was half a red pokeball emblem stamped at an angle. None of them understood why he was so excited just for a hat.

"What's so special about that hat?" Daryl asked.

Jared sighed, "You won't understand…"

"All I know is that it looks familiar, but I can't put my finger on it," Daryl shrugged. "Oh well, it'll come to me."

Jared examined Daryl in question, "Familiar?" he thought. "Wait… does that mean that characters like Red or Green exist?"

"So are gonna buy it," Gem's sudden question startled Jared, but he nodded regardless.

"Yeah," he replied.

"Why?" He thought it over.

"It's just something about that hat that makes me feel… nostalgic." In a quick flash, he entered the store with his money in hand.

He made a beeline straight for the hat, quickly grabbing it. But suddenly, someone else took hold of the hat as well. Jared gazed over to the owner of the other hand to see was a teen of his own age, perhaps younger.

The teen was male, wearing a red jacket with a black T that stretches all the way to the end of his sleeves. He also wore black jeans that had yellow trimmed ends with matching gloves. And the sneakers he wore matched the jacket. Short, black hair barely covered the scar that hovered over his right eye.

"No way… couldn't it be…" Jared tried his best to quell his stuttering, but nostalgia had other plans.

The teen blinked twice in confusion. "Do I know you?" he asked.

Jared shook his head to clear his mind, letting go of the hat and answer the teen's question. "You don't know me, but I have a feeling I know you. Are you…"

The teen nodded while putting the hat back on the shelf, knowing what Jared was going to finish saying. "So you've heard of me, I see."

Jared nodded vigorously. "Yes I have. But are you really—"

"Yo Jared, there you are." Daryl and everyone else came rushing into the store, searching for him till they found him by the hat section.

"We've been looking all over for you!" Gem tackled him in a hug, but it wasn't enough to knock him down.

[We were so worried when you rushed off like that!] Annabeth also came into the fray, knocking Jared and Gem in tighter hug.

The teen laughed, before getting knocked down by another teen closer to his age. The newer youth was female, wearing a green bandana that covered most of her hair except the part that hanged down to her shoulders almost like bangs. She also wore a red blouse, black short-shorts, a green fanny pack around her waist, black and white gloves, and red and white sneakers with black socks that came up to her ankles.

"There you are Brendan! I was wondering where you were when you disappeared on me like that. Don't you ever do that again!" She cuddled and held him tight as he tried to escape.

"Come on May, I was just trying to get a new hat!" He glances up to see Jared had already escaped from his tacklers and was in possession of the hat.

"Hey man, I saw that hat first!" Jared smirked, thinking of a way to fight for the hat... fairly.

"You want the hat? Then let's battle!"

Obvious ending, right? No? Oh well. Anyway thanks for reading and I apologize that I'm not making new chapters that fast, but it's mostly because I have some grim news.

My mother has cancer (again), so I have been by her side checking on her frequently to make sure she's okay. So I'd like for anyone who reads this to pray for my mother, that she will survive her cancer and live a healthy life till she's like 200 years old or something.

It's all I ask, so please pray to God or Buddha or whoever you pray to. Thank you and good night…
