Sorry for the long wait everyone and thank you for being so patient! As I kind of mentioned in the beginning, I really didn't have anything planned ahead for this story before posting. I literally only had those first two chapters written and I had posted them to see whether or not Scrub was going to be worth continuing.

But now I know! Thank you to everyone who reviewed so far, they've made me so happy and I'm sure you guys will be happy to know I have the next few chapters planned out.

Trying to cut down on the swearing so I don't have to rate this story M on Sasha's potty mouth alone.

Lyrics belong to My Chemical Romance.

World of Warcraft and Zuni belong to Blizzard Entertainment. Story belongs to me.

Chapter Three: Sing

'Sing it out

Boy, you've got to see what tomorrow brings

Sing it out

Girl, you've got to be what tomorrow needs

For every time that they want to count you out

Use your voice every time you open up your mouth.'

When Sasha woke the next morning she knew exactly where she was. She didn't have that cliche moment of 'Oh, what a terrible dream! What? It's real? Golly gee willikers!' Oh, no. She knew she was in the cage on an island infested with trolls. She knew she was still stuck in an imaginary world.

But whatever. Don't worry guys, Sasha's got this.

She rose slowly, stretching all the sore muscles and kinks out of her body. She immediately fell back down into a lying position. Already irritated, she realized that for the second day her only options were to go back to sleep or break her brain trying to figure a way out. She gave a startled yelp when something hit her arm. The two guards snickered as her eyes landed on the bread they threw her way. Picking up the bit of food, she scowled. It was wet! Disgustingly warm and wet and now covered in sand. What the hell?!

The teenager locked eyes with one of her captors. The troll shrugged and grunted, "Ya think we got water ta spare for ya? That's all ya get."

They soaked the bread in water?

Seriously?

"Yeah, great!" Sasha breathed. "And now it's got sand on it from you throwing it at me, stupid jerk!" She didn't know whether he didn't hear her or chose to ignore her, but either way, the troll didn't budge at her insult.

She forced herself to eat the bread or at least the parts that were sand free. She would eat again later, she had to! They totally had to feed her otherwise it was just…. torture! Sasha scoffed. Yeah, 'cause they don't do that in Wow. Not in the least bit satisfied with her "meal" and bored out of her mind, Sasha did the only thing left available and remotely entertaining in the tiny cage.

People watch.

The Darkspear were already up and about for some time apparently. Everybody was doing something, whether it was training, making weapons or cleaning the raptor pens. Sasha watched a trio of troll women sit on the steps of one of the huts, talking and laughing loudly. Their hands deftly rubbed over the armors they held in their hands, water sliding over the material. Oh they're cleaning them. They're the… cleaning ladies. Okay. Just as she looked away, a blue light shone on the edge of her peripheral. Her eyes quickly snapped back to the women just as the glow faded from their hands. Her mind drew a complete blank as she stared at them, watching as they each put the armors they were holding in one pile and grabbed new pieces from another. Oh, that's not water, that's oil. Does that mean they're enchanting it? Cool! Of course, once again Sasha could only watch for so long before her attention began to waver. Bored! Boring. Bored. Oh my God, I need my computer. I need Facebook. I need something.

The breeze began to cool and the sun hovered just above the trees when she heard his voice.

"Ya passed ya training too?" It was him, Zuni! Sasha perked up. It sounded like he was coming closer. "I know this is serious work, but I can't help it. Dem baby raptors are cute little devils." She pressed up against the confines of her cage, looking around excitedly. She hadn't gotten a good look at him before, now was her chance! Holy Christ, there he is! the two trolls strolled lazily into view.

She noticed with a strange sense of amusement that Zuni was short. Or at least, smaller than his companion. He clearly still towered over her by a good foot. Why his height mattered, she didn't know, but for the moment anything outside her cage mattered. He was very simple. Laid back and relaxed in his shaman robes where his friend- Zen, was it? had white and markings painted on his arms and face. Colorful strings and beads were braided into his leather armor. Zen nudged Zuni and they slowed to a halt at her cage. Sasha smiled. Finally! Something new! Something different was happening! She was going to talk to Zuni, no one was stopping her. Besides, what was the worst that could happen?

"Hi! She smiled brightly, trying to look as friendly and harmless as possible.

"No talking, prisoner," said a guard who looked like he couldn't actually care less what she did. These guys must have been brothers of her equally nonchalant jailers from the prior shift. Seriously, either Vol'jin must have realized how weak she really was or he had some hard core work to do before the rebellion.

Sasha scowled at the armored troll. Or at least, tried to. It came out looking more like she direly needed to sneeze. Something her friends always laughed about. "The angrier she gets, the sneezier she gets!" her best friend would always say. The teenager shook her head and focused on her captors.

"Why not? What the hell am I gonna do? Talk them to death? Sorry to break it to you, Nightcrawler, but that's not really a thing. 'Cause, trust me, if it was I would've already yaaak-yak-yakked my way outta this cage. But it's not, so I'm not. So do me a favor and let me have a civil conversation with someone. 'Kay? 'Kay. Cool. Glad we had this talk."

Dumbstruck, the four troll men stared at her. They were all taken completely by surprise by her outburst. Though Sasha had absolutely no idea why; that guy was rude first!

"Besides," She grumbled, pursing her lips. "What's it matter what I say or not? He's totally gonna-" The words died on her lips and she stared blankly past her audience. She almost told Zuni he was going to die! That was against the rules, right? Wibbly wobbly timey wimey or something. I wish I actually watched all of Doctor Who! This stuff's confusing.

Zen was the first to break the silence. "Girly, ya need ta chill."

Sasha felt her blood boil and she glared up at him, wearing her ultimate "sneezy" face.

"Did you seriously just tell me to chill?! You fuckers have me locked up in a cage. I am dimensions away from my home with probably no way back, about to get caught up in a war that's none of my business, people are going to die and I have no way to stop it or even warn them. And whether you douchebags believe me or not I am on your side, but it doesn't matter 'cause you're not going to listen to a human. So all I can do is SIT HERE AND WAIT TO DIE AND HOPE TO GOD THIS IS JUST A BAD FUCKING DREAM."

"Hey, hey," Zen held his hands out in a nonthreatening manner, like a hunter taming a pet. Around him, Zuni and the other two snickered. Sasha's eyes widened more if it were possible. Before she believed they honestly thought she was overreacting, but now she realized they were just mocking her. "Relax little human."

"I- You! …Ah!" She spluttered, her face red with anger and embarrassment. Her outrage just fueled their glee and their giggling turned into full laughter. "Oh, fuck off."

The shaman's face suddenly turned somber as he said, "Ya been caught by the enemy, little human. Ya pretty calm for a girl about to be executed. Ya brave or just stupid?"

Sasha rolled her eyes, quickly growing impervious to their snickering and their insults. "I'm still not convinced this isn't a dream or some elaborate prank. But if it isn't then there's no way in hell I'd be able to escape you. There's no use even trying."

"So, a bit of both, then?" Zen piped in, lightening the mood once again.

"Bit of both," she agreed.

"C'mon, we still gotta help with dem raptors," Zuni said and nudged his friend to follow.

Sasha leaned back against her cage once more with a heavy thud, no longer caring about her "best friend's" visit to her little island suite. "Watch out for that naga guy, Naj-whatever and his shrinking hex."

Zuni sent her a curious look before he and the druid disappeared out of sight across the bridge. The human girl stared up at the confines of her cage. Back to the waiting game. Back to the wondering. Was she waiting to die? Or waiting to wake up?

She didn't want to be so passive, to act so weak. But she was a normal teenage girl. An American who's only exposure to crime growing up had been when that no-name loser from her grade stole the principal's car. She had never even taken defense classes, there was never any need. She had also never spent much time outdoors; had barely ever gone on an afternoon hike, forget camping or anything of the sort. Now, she was locked in a cage on an island where even smallest animals posed an enormous threat to her.

Even if she had the courage to escape, she wouldn't make it beyond the door of her cage before she was killed. Although she wanted to keep telling herself this was all someone's sick idea of a joke, she couldn't shake the hostile glares sent to her by the trolls and the feeling that every one of them would kill her given the chance. She couldn't count on Zuni either, she wasn't her troll character here. He had no memories of her. Sasha was nothing more than a strange human girl, much further from home than he or his leader realized.

More than anything, she wanted to live. Live for as long as possible. If that meant sitting here like a useless blob until she could talk herself out of this or- God help her- actually escape, then she would.

Until then, she would wait.

A QUESTION FOR YOU ALL: Though 3 chapters have already been posted, I've sort of kicked myself wondering why I haven't addressed Sasha's sudden, magical ability to speak with the Trolls. I had gotten ahead of myself, wanting to introduce Sasha and Zuni to each other and although I find it more realistic, the language barrier Melu and Feng had was frustratingly limiting at times. I had played with the idea that Sasha would only speak english until she and Zuni meet their new companion in Ratchet. Who would design a "collar" of sorts that would alter her voice into Orcish for the listener. I'd like to go back and tweak these chapters to fit this, but if you guys like it how it is, I'll leave it.
