Thessana held Hugo before he could do something stupid and kept staring at the boy , Max . He had dark hair and blue eyes . He was defenseless , scared , she could feel it . She saw some metallic tools were moving , floating in the air then falling on the floor . The doctor , probably Schmidt , started to talk in German then left the door as four guards came in , surrounding the boy . Follow me but don't move . You're still hidden . Hugo looked at her , eyes wide because of the fear . Thessana smiled at him to reassure him and walked to the little lab .

"Guten Tag Herren … Does one of you speak English ?" said Thessana , smiling at the guards .

The four guards looked at her as the boy . She winked at him and her dagger appeared in her hand . The guards were far too slow , their guns were useless and three of them were killed before ten seconds . Hugo took a few steps back , in shock . Never he thought she could actually kill someone . She walked to the fourth guard , her dagger and right hand covered in blood . He raised his hands , screaming that he could speak English . She took him by the collar and throw him on a table , which he hide behind .

"What are you ?" he asked , trying to hide the fear in his voice , with no success .

"I ask the questions . Where the doctor did go ?"

"I don't know I swear . But he's coming back soon . And he'll kill you ."

"A single man will kill me ? I just killed three of your friends in less than a minute so don't get your hope too high . What are you doing to this kid ?"

"I don't know .. I'm just a guard ..."

Hugo saw him taking something in his pocket . A knife . But Thessana was faster and the next second her dagger was through his wrist , pining it to the table .

"When I'll take the dagger out , you'll bleed to death . So many veins in the wrist … Except if I heal you . I momentarily stopped your ability to speak so you wouldn't scream . But I'll let you answer this . Whar are you doing to this boy ?"

"He's a monster ..."

She looked at the boy who was frozen , probably in shock .

"He's a monster . And so you are ." spat the guard .

Thessana took her dagger and sliced his throat . At the same time , the door opened and the boy let out a little scream . She took his hand , Hugo's and disappeared before the man could do something .

They felt in the snow , back in the woods and the boy crawled back , putting as much space as posible between them . Hugo stood and started to talk to him . Thessana stayed behind and let them talk . After washing her hands and hiding their position , she came back to them .

"Thess , this is Max Eisenhardt . He's scared of you but he's thankful . For freeing him ."

"Yeah I understood … How old is he ?"

"14 ."

"Does he have any family left ?"

"No ..." said Hugo after asking him .

"Is he hungry ?"

"Yes . Me too by the way ."

"Give him some of your clothes in your bag and I'll take you to a warm place to eat something ..."

The two boys left behind a tree and came back two minutes after . Hugo took her hand and nodded at Max .

"Does he speak some English ?" asked Thessana , looking at Max .

"Nope ."

"Awesome … What's that ?"

She took his left wrist and saw a number tattooed on it . 214782 .

"It's to identify them .. Like animals .." whispered Hugo .

"Fuck .."

"Rickon , don't you want to eat ?" asked Frigga , sitting next to the boy .

"I wish we could have helped Sansa … Oberryn told me that he was planning to go to King's Landing for Joffrey's wedding .. "

"And you wish to go ?"

"Yes . I can't let them think they destroyed the Starks .."

"But you cannot . You know your parents would want you to be safe .."

"They're dead … I'll never be safe again ."

"Your parents are watching over you , in the Seven Heavens . And one day , you're going to see them again . "

"I wish I could join them now … "

"Don't say that ever again Rickon ! Look at you , you're a wonderful boy . Clever as your mother and as fierce as your father . You look so much like him .."

"Really ? You think I could be as good as him one day ?"

"Maybe even better .. "

"It's going to be hard .."

"But not impossible .."

"Thanks . For everything . I love you grandmother .."

"I love you too my little boy .. Are you sure you don't want to eat ?"

"I'm not hungry . But can I go to the library ?"

"Of course . This is your home now . "

Rickon kissed her cheek and left running .

Loki walked in the library , seeking calm and peace , when he heard noises . Nobody should be here , especially not at night . He cloaked himself with his magic and walked by the rows of books . He froze when he saw Rickon , speaking to himself , while reading a book . It's been a few days since he came to live with them and Loki had done everything to avoid him . Looking at him was like a reminder of what he'd done . Looking at his blue eyes felt like Robb was looking at him and he hated Robb . Loki didn't feel guilty for what he had done . His hatred for Robb was stronger , he wanted to kill everything related to Robb . But he couldn't kill a boy , that was too horrible , even for him .

"If you want to hide , you should be better at it ." said Rickon .

"How …." Loki didn't notice him , lost in his thoughts .

"I'm not blind , nor stupid . "

"Better watch your language , I'm a prince ."

"And I'm a king . King Rickon Stark of the North . "

"And where's your kingdom ? Your people ? Your crown ?"

"The Northeners know who who their king is . The Starks always ruled the North and one day a Stark will be back there . "

"You seem sure of yourself . Be careful , you shouldn't hope too much ."

"Stark means determined and/or physically strong man . So I think , after all , that it's my blood . I'll rule the North . Mark my words ."

"And Robb means bright , shining . Your father was put out pretty quickly though .."

"My father was the most humble person I knew . He was a wonderful father , a great leader and a good king . "

"That's the lie you tell to yourself ? "

"Are you bitter because he was a king and never you'll rule in Asgard ? Must feel harsh no ? Being always in the shadow of someone else .. And it must feel harsher that a little boy is king while you're nothing . "

Loki raised his hand , ready to strike him but Thor came in looking at them .

"What is happening there ?! Rickon , you should be in bed .."

"I know uncle Thor . But he was keeping me here . We were talking about how good my father was .."

"Robb was more than a good man .. Let's go to bed little northener ."

"Okay … Oh and Loki ? The North remembers . They may forgive but they will never forget ."

"Forgive but never forget . That's the rule if you want to survive . Or just live your life without being blinded by your rage ."

"Seriously Thess ? You want me to tell him that ? He saw his mother dead . They shot her in front of him ."

"I know it's hard , Hugo . I know it , better than anyone . But killing everyone will not bring back his mother ."

"We should teach him English . Like that you could tell him all that crap ."

"And I should teach you manners . Anyway there's no use for that because once we find a safe place , or a safe country , I'll find you a nice family and you'll stay with them ."

"What ? You're going to leave me ?"

"Hugo , I'm not your mother . I helped you to escape from the americans , helped you to survive in the woods and even saved a teenager for you . I think I've done enough ."

"But .. I like it with you .."

"What ?"

"Don't make me repeat it . Please Thess ..."

"It's not safe for you . I'm dangerous .."

"Never you would hurt me . I know it . Please I'm begging you ! Please ! "

"Fine ! I keep you . Piss me off one more time and I'll ditch you in the first farm . "

Hugo was about to shout , overjoyed but instead of his laugh , the sound of a bomb was heard . Instinctively , a magical shield appeared around her , protecting her from the fragments . Once , the dust gone away , she saw Max , the metallic fragments around him , like his body repelled them . His eyes were wide open , tears rolling in his cheeks . She followed his gaze and felt like she was about to vomit . Hugo wasn't close to her so the shield didn't protect him . A huge fragment was taking the place of half of his head . His only eye left was looking at the sky , the ghost of his smile on his lips . Thessana wipped the tears out of her face and walked to the little boy . She took him in her arms and walked between the trees , near the river . She laid his body on the shore and started to wash the blood out of his little body . But her hands were shaking too hard . She felt Max's hand on her shoulder . He kneeled and started to wash Hugo . She stood and wandered in the woods , trying to find some pieces of wood . When Max found her , she was finishing the prayer wheel . Once finished , they both walked to Hugo's body . Max had covered him with a cover they had . It was like he was sleeping except that half of his face was gone . Thessana gathered all the branches she took earlier and made a bed of it and laid Hugo on it . Then she put the prayer wheel between his tiny hands .

"May the Gods have mercy of your soul and let you live with them in the Seven Heavens . Robb … Take care of him . Please . "

And she set fire to the body . They stayed there until the flames extinguished and there was nothing left of the little boy . Thessana took the bag and handed it to Max then left . After several minutes , she stopped and faced him .

"Look , it's been great this little adventure but it's over . I helped you leave this lab but now you need to go . "

She walked again but he was still following her .

"I said leave me . I don't want anyone around anymore . I kill all the people who stays with me . Gods you probably don't understand a word I'm saying .. No following !"

"I monster .. All leave ."

His English was bad , his accent thick but the words struck her with strength . He took the bag and left in the opposite direction , not even looking behind . Thessana sighed and joined him .

"You need to learn English if you want to stick around . And control your powers..."

They stayed in Northern England for a year , moving constantly . Liverpool , Manchester , Sheffield , Leeds . The war was over now and people started to realise what really happened in Germany , with the camps and a man hunt against Nazis began . Max showed more and more interest in it , reading the newspaper , listenning to people's conversations . Soon he showed an interest in going back to the land of his people as he said . He wanted to go to Israel to pay tribute to his ancestors . But Thessana was against that idea , mainly because his name was on the list of the people dead in those camps . He was starting to control his power , knowing when to use it and how . But when he was angry , he would lose control and destroy everything around him which contained metal . This is why they had to move after a year . After a fight , Max destroyed half a street , in front of dozens of people .

After England , they went to France . They stayed there three years , travelling sometimes to Spain . Max was growing up . He was a man now . And on the day of his 18th birthday , he bluntly said to Thessana , that as grateful as he was about all she had done for him , he had to leave and go to Israel , with or without her . She asked for a delay of ten days , which he agreed on .

Eleven days after , two American arrived at the airport in Israel . Thessana Justine Stark , born in 1915 in New-York , both parents dead , and Erik Lehnsherr , born in 1920 in Berlin but immigrated to New-York , both parents dead too . They were both students of Cambridge University , the girl was a medical student and the boy was studying engineering .

"I thought that coming here will help me . Help me knowing why I'm different but nothing . No big revelation .."

Thessana looked at Erik as he sat on his chair , black sunglasses hiding his eyes . It was sunny day and he had left early in the morning to visit Jerusalem . He took a sip of her drink and took off his glasses , looking at her with his piercing blue eyes . The little Max was long gone , replaced by this elegant young man in front of her .

"You're not different Erik . You just have some abilities . "

"Abilities ? Are you joking ? I'm a human magnet Thess . I'm a freak . "

"What am I supposed to be then ?"

"A wonderful woman . "

"Erik , I'm over two thousand years old and I have magic in me . Do you see me crying ?"

"Because you come from a place where you didn't have to hide . Man , I'll give everything to spend a day on Asgard … Instead I'm here , raging against those men who made me suffer . Me and a million other people . "

"Control yourself ." ordered Thessana as she felt his magnetic field starting to spread . "I have to hide my powers too and you know why ? Because I'll be hunted down . As you . Not because we're monsters or freaks . But because the world isn't ready for us . You don't have to be ashamed of what you are . You should pity the human for their ignorance and fear . But the day will come , where people will look up at us because we saved them or something stupid like that . Captain America was a freak , according to what you're saying , and yet , people looked up at him ."

"Don't talk about him . He was supposed to end the war , to help the people suffering . He didn't save me . Me or anyone . So don't spread that bullshit about him being a hero . And know where is he ? God knows where ."

"You should stop blaming the world for what happened to you . Yes it was tough , it was horrible . You were tortured but people can have it a lot worse so suck it up . "

"What do you know about pain ? Suffering ? You know nothing , you're from another fucking planet where you could use your powers without being considered as a monster ."

"You must be a fool to think I don't know pain . In two milleniums , I think I had some glimpses of it ."

"Really ? In which circumstances ? Daddy didn't want to give you a crown ?"

"Piss me off and I swear I'll kick your arse so badly , all your ancestors are going to feel it . "

Erik laughed and closed his eyes enjoying the sun . Thessana smiled at him and closed her eyes too , remembering how the sun felt on her skin when she was in the North wih … Don't think about him . He's dead . No need to think about the past . She could feel his skin against hers for a second but the memory was wipped out by a field . She opened her eyes and looked at Erik . It wasn't his , she could recognize it , even if they were kilometers apart . She scanned the crowd and noticed a young man , looking at them , two fingers on his right temple . He was trying to get Erik's head . Thessana shielded him and herself and kept starring at the man , who was confused now . Then he noticed her and froze .

"Erik , do you really want to stay here ?"

"What ? Why we're fine here . I mean why going to the hotel when we can enjoy some sun ."

"I mean here , in Israel ."

"Where do you want to go ?"

"I have an old friend in America . Howard Stark . He knows about me and my abilities . I bet he could help you with yours .."

Erik agreed and stood , throwing some money on the table to pay the drinks . She grabbed his arm and left , keeping always an eye on the young man who tried to sneak up in their minds . Don't try that on us , ever again . The man looked at her and nodded . Good choice , Charles-Xavier .

Howard almost jumped in her arms when he saw her .

"You have a big office now , how ?"

"I think first of all , where the hell were you ? We thought you died !"

"No , I had this … him going on . Erik this is Howard Stark . Howard , this is Erik Lehnsherr . "

"Stark ? You two are .."

"Nope boy . I mean young man . I mean Erik .. Can I call you Erik ?" asked Howard .

Erik nodded as he walked around the office , looking at the books .

"Where's Steve ? I wrote him a hundred of letters and he never replied . I know I was supposed to join him to destroy the Tesseract but I couldn't … " I had to control Erik first . Howard looked at him , still looking at the books and cocked an eyebrow . He isn't human . Not completely at least . But he's born here and his parents were both average humans . "So where's Steve ? Is he here ? "

"Uhm .. Thessana .. Steve died . "

"What ?" Erik glanced at her , waiting for other reactions . "How is it possible ?"

"He drowned in the Arctic . I did all I could to find his body but nothing … It's like he disappeared ."

"Fuck … And Bucky ?"

"Dead too … Erik ? There is a rest room down the corridor . I think Thess could use a cup of tea . Could you go make one please ? And take what you want for you ."

Erik nodded and left the room , closing the door behind him . "Thessana this is incredible and really good that you're here . I suppose you remember Agent Carter , Colonel Phillips ? Well after the war , we decided to create an organisation called SHIELD . It stands for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division . This is top secret of course . We deal with paranormal and superhuman threats . You could be a useful member . Same for Erik . I know this is too much informations at the same moment but we need you . We need all the help we can gather . We can't let another Red Skull , or other person of the same specie , destroy our world . I need an answer now though . So we can explain you everything in details ."

"How can you say yes without asking me first ? People of others species ? You're actually aware that you and I are from different specie than them right ? What makes you think they wouldn't go after us ?!"

"Erik , if we are in this organisation , it means we'll have access to everything single document . Don't you think that if they try to kill us , we'll find out pretty quickly ? They're humans . "

"So we're Shield's agents ..."
